Has anyone else out there in Australia seen the little promo they have on
Rage for Rage (you know the usual thing a whole heap of people
saying/screaming Rage!). But this one has various bands or artists in it
doing the same and I'm sure I've seen Chris Cornell so does anyone know if
he did program Rage and I missed it or do you think he would and they just
have it somewhere down at the ABC.

I just got reminded of this by Jackhammer's (John Grieves) post 25/4/97:

>More importantly, does anybody know of Rage here in Australia putting
>together a Soundgarden special some time in the future? It would seem
>fitting at the closure of the band for them to play all Soundgarden videos
>as a tribute to the band, and they certainly have done it for other
bands...

I also hope that they do a tribute as well.

************ Also must remind you all you must go to the Recovery site:
		http://www.abc.net.au/recovery/home.htm
and place a few votes at the Hyperchart for us poor Aussies with no pay TV
and can't get MTV. Just click on the Jukebox bit and then Hyperchart then
vote SG- Jesus Christ Pose. (we're starting with this one first)

I would take a look at switch opens, because its power gained, and I would
even suggest boot camp, but I guess that's more the total opposite of powere.

I bought a 12" black bootleged copy of Louder than Live( $9) , 12"
Louder Than Love($6) ( with an awesome picture of Kim on side A ) an
another 12" vinyl of Screaming Life ( $ 5 ) that was shrinkwrapped .
I know the Screaming life probably isn't the first print but it's
just really cool to have another so in a decade or so I can listen to
it because my other vinyl will be worn out . All I need is
Badmotorfinger and I'll have all their albums on vinyl , except FoPp
. I also saw Poe at the 9:30 club 2 Saturdays ago and her cello'ist
played the opening riff to Outshined while Poe told everyone to clap
for hime because he's such an awesom cello player .

Methinks the last time the whole band was on the cover was in June of
'94, during the time that Superunkown was released. Even though I
dislike Rolling Stone myself, I have definitely kept that issue.

Yes, it's me!! :) I want to thank the people who emailed about my stereo
problem. I found out what the problem was. After I rewinded the tape to
hear the song, I forgot to push the little lever to tape. :) I'm so silly!
I am relieved though!!!

As I was going through all of my computer/internet notes, I came across a
URL that I believe is for the article with Chris and pics that I posted
about. However, when I typed in the address to go there, it said it didn't
have a DNS entry. The address I have is:

http://www.brunel.ca.uk:8080/~hs94mjc/sg/articles.html

There is another article there too, but I don't remember what it is. Does
this address look familiar to anyone? Do I have it typed wrong? I
evidently read those articles so I had to have the right address at some
point in time.

May Soundgarden be with you.

Rebekah

BTW, I have one bad-ass stereo! It records really well. Sounds EXACTLY
like a CD. Of course, the CD tapes help. :)

soundgarden were featured on rage sometime in 1994, wyn. I can't
remember the exact date. back then <affecting grandfatherly voice>, the
artist/band would program roughly three hours of music clips. then the
artist/band's clips would be played (keep in mind this is a music video
show, non-australians). for soundgarden, it was different. saturday night
came around and from the beginning it was chris and ben, chris doing the
talking and ben doing the clowning. they played all of soundgarden's
clips, interspersed with conversation with chris. obviously, the band
didn't program videos by any other musicians. the entire interview
transcript (most of the questions regard music video) is on sgi.net under
'miscellany'.

as for future soundgarden features <wave across the great court to
jackhammer>, I don't know. I had hoped the band had agreed to a second
stint as programmers/featured artists while they were here during january
and february, but I don't know that it will pan out. supergrass (who also
played the big day out festival circuit) have already been featured, while
no other bdo band has been on since. hopefully we'll see something, but I
wouldn't hold my breath. I'm yet to see a band program rage twice.

whew. . .

finally read through 10 digests. . .what a load!

Thanks to Mr. Apple and Shroomy for the amusing little anecdotes. It's
good to see some humor on the list of seemingly perpetual mourning.

Thanks to Matt for your post to us. It really makes me feel "special"
to know that you took time from your schedule to talk with us. Thanks
again.

To get to the heart of the matter. . .i am tired. . .tired of being
upset. . .tired of wondering why Soundgarden broke up. . .tired of
reading the endless speculations based on the factual foundation of a
termite-ridden woodpile. I am sure that my sentiments are echoes
throughout the list and Soundgardenland. I agree with Caryn 90% that
Soundgarden owes us no apology and that the dirt digging should stop.
If Soundgarden says that the split was amicable, then so be it. Who are
we to say that they are lying? If you think that they are lying, then
why would you bother to believe any word or lyric that they have read or
sung in the past. Soundgarden has no NEED to lie to us or to anyone.
They do not need to get anyone's approval. . .true fans give it to them
unconditionally. As for the other 10%, that is my selfish little ego
that still nags me with THE question. Why? But the percentage is
decreasing with every article and ranting speculation I read. The more
theories and quote ". . .an unnamed source said. . ." unquote that I
read, the more ludicrous the whole media circus appears.

Can't all of you see it? The press are like vultures (My apologies to
any member of the press on the list) and will do whatever they can to
garner attention to their rag. Reading the post-listings of articles
that offer endless ideas on why they broke up e.g. "It's Ben's fault",
"It's the whole band's fault", or "It's Richard Simmons' fault" makes me
sick to my gullet. Duh! Everyone KNOWS that it's all Shroomy's fault!
;)

p.s. Hey Shroomy, were Chris and Matt wearing undies under their grass
skirts? ;)

The point is (and I'm sure that there is one) is that. . .LET'S MOVE
ON! Let's all talk about the immense existing body of work that some
members hold near and dear to their hearts and some members have yet to
explore. If you see a song listed that you don't know, somehow get hold
of it. Bring your opinions and ideas to the list to further enrich our
own perspectives. (God, I sound like my Philosophy syllibus!)

By the way, (and not of Soundgarden), don't forget to watch Ellen's
coming out on Wednesday at 9 p.m. <<Make me proud girl!>>

Love you all,

Chris

I don't want to be overly nit-picky, so I'll make this short.
karen, you are absolutely correct in saying that chris can play a number
of different instruments. but when he wrote soundgarden songs, I don't
think he wrote the music for bass, drums and lead guitar. at least, not in
an authoritarian, iron-fisted manner, but more as guide to each individual
as to how he imagined the part. in essence, he would *demo* songs for the
band by himself, which would mutate once in the hands of all four
musicians. I know that the distinction may be slight, but arrangement
(vs. the original demo-ing) of soundgarden music was always a democratic
process. I believe that was true to a large degree for all four
instruments; specifically colour or lead guitar parts were left almost
entirely to kim, as were drum fills to matt (as long as they kept with the
overall feel of the song itself).

hopefully I didn't just say exactly what you already knew. if so,
well...I'm no stranger to having my foot in my mouth these days.

Hi,

I haven't posted for a while,and i've been away aswell :)
anyway I'd just like to say that all the members of SG contribute
just as much as each other. If it weren't for Kim or Ben Chris
wouldn't be able to Play Guitar or Bass and if it weren't for Matt
not only would Chris have to play drums but everyone would be out of
time :)
So how can Chris be Soundgarden ? you can't make great songs without
other ppl to help you.
As if Chris would play everything , I think SG would have broken up
ages ago if this where true.

Also about Recovery hehe I was with those ppl who voted for The Tea
Party , Make sure you vote as many times as possible (it works :} )

bye
Trent
p.s. It be kool if Chris and Kim joined Hater :)
