Hi all,

I just read in a former Post that a lot of people seems to believe that
Chris alone IS Soundgarden and that the 3 other bandmates didn't contribute
in the wonderfull experience that *Soundgarden* became. I even read that
Ben, Matt and Kim aren't even playing on stage...
My first reaction while reading that was to laugh... I won't yell at
anybody or insult the ones who said that or even think that, I just want to
share my opinion about that :

To me, Chris is the one who contributed the most in what this
band became, because he writes most of the songs and almost all the
lyrics. BUT, I am sure that the 3 other ones contributed much more
than it seems. Indeed, Soundgarden wouldn't have became Soundgarden
w/out such a good drummer as Matt, a good guitarist like Kim or bass
gutarists like Hiro and Ben. Even if Chris writes a lot of songs, the
way the 3 bandmates perform them makes the difference with another
band who would play the same stuff. And let me remind you that
without Kim Ben and Matt and Hiro, we would never be listening to such
great songs as

	Limo wreck,
	applebite,
	superunknown,
	hands all over,
	jesus christ pose,
	slaves and bulldozers,
	zero chance,
	ty cobb,
	rhinosaur,
	power trip,
	new damage,
	dusty,
	fresh tendrils,
	Somewhere,
	head down,
	face pollution,
	I awake,
	no wrong no right,
	never the machine forever,
	half,
	never named,
	kickstand,
	my wave,
	room a 1000 years wide,
	mailman,
	swich opens,
	an unkind,
	get on the snake...

WOULD YOU CALL IT SOUNDGARDEN W/OUT ALL THIS SONGS ????

Subject: SG Songs to the Theme of Power

Ok well my brother has been hassling me for some poems or songs at least
that have a theme of power and so of cause I went straight for the SG
lyrics and came up with Never Named (which is more of a self-perceived lack
of power but I don't think that matters) for him but he needs a few more so
any suggestions.

Yes I know Circle of power & Power Trip, but their satirical I think he
wants something serious (well at least not ironic) and I think anything
with expletives (or such connotations) is out or else he would already gone
for Regurgitator's- G7 Dick Electro Boogie {by the way if you don't know
the song the first line is:
"If I were in the Third World. My ass'd be numb from the F#&*ing"
also if your interested the chorus is quiet good
	"Thanks for the AID, you Traders enslave."}

If anyone could help with that it would be most appreciated.

Actually, an unnamed inside source told me it was really Shroom's Sean
Kinney page that did it! It was the last straw for Chris. First she calls
him a hypocrite for taking his shirt off and then moaning when girlies
drool; then she complains about his 'heroin whore' CK One look in
Details...oh, and don't forget how she temporarily switched her allegiance
to Ben after the Hater gig!

Shroom, you are bad hootchie!

I was idly thumbing through the net mags in WH Smith this morning, debating
whether I *really* wanted to read another special report on how the
internet is grinding to a halt, or a netscape vs explorer test..when what
should leap out of the page at me, but pictures of Chris. Kim, Ben and Matt
ON SETH'S CONTENTS PAGE!

Yes, Total Internet magazine has reviewed the site and given it three wine
glasses out of five. I don't know if that's an indication of how
intoxicating they found it or or how drunk you have to be to read it :-)

"The Unofficial Soundgarden Homepage
Want to know more about Soundgarden? Go here. Now.

"As unofficial sites go, this is a goodie. In fact, as any sort of site
goes, this is a goodie. Its professional quality anyway and matches - and
indeed surpasses - the kind of quality we've got used to on a normal
everyday official site.

There are plenty of articles and so forth and enough for any fan to keep
themeselves occupied for a considerable amount of time. There's even a
search engine and a song of the month.

"The song of the month is very interesting. It offers a lot of insight and
imformation on just one particular song. For example, this month the song
is Spoonman abd there's a lot of info on the song and loads of different
(and partly exclusive) pictures. There are also sound clips and video
clips! It must take up an outrageous amount of disk space (each mpeg is up
to 7 megs in size, so you can imagine the bandwith this must be eating up.)
Each month must take the Webmaster weeks to prepare. The poor guy must be
some sort of fanatic - but all the same it's a very good effort."

- ---------------------------

Another sign that Soundgarden is seeping into the UK consciousness....
on Live TV channel today there was a Soundgarden question in the rock quiz.
Something like "Soundgarden recently took a radical change of direction.
What was it?"

Mind you, this is nothing to be too proud of. Live TV is the kind of
channel that shows topless darts; the weather is read by a dwarf bouncing
on a trampoline... And the teams in the rock quiz were made up of Bon Jovi
and Status Quo tribute bands. The By Jovies (I kid you not!) got the right
answer which was they split up (sob)

Hey, everyone knows Britain has the best tv in the world ;-)

I used to change his dippers, so I can't think of him

Subject: Chris Needs More?

Sommsters,
To elaborate on the fact that Chris does not need to play more
instruments. He was the original temple of the dog he played Drums, Bass,
Rhythm and Lead guitars on the all the demo's for the songs on the album.
Matt, Mike Mcreedy, Stone, and Jeff Ament came along later. He also played
bass on Ultramega Ok on the song that Hiro Sang, Tower of Power I believe
it's called. Plus he played the Rhodes Piano on Dotu. So I think he
would be alright playing alone. Plus you know some of his seattle buddies
will show up on any solo project he did. What I would really like to see
is a acoustic solo project by Cornell. I love the way he played a melody
over a rhythm on "Seasons" for those who don't know thats Chris playing
the whole song on one guitar on that one. It's a little tricky matter of
tuning the guitar right but it can be done. I do believe it's similar to
how Ani Difranco plays bass lines under her melodies with one guitar also.
Anyways I would just like to say that ClownWithBazooka has returned new
Moniker same guy. So I would like to say hi to Jamie, Carolyn, Moondruid,
-J, Seth, Steve, and whomsoever else I have exchanged mail with in the
past, especially that lovely Shroom Girl...... sorry about the absence but
I have been unbelieveably swamped with work the past few months. Anyways
gotta break my rusty cages and run.

I totally agree with you there Vince, I was also so pissed about SG's not
being on the 200 definitive album list in Rolling Stone. I called my
sister (another SG fan) to tell her and she was just as pissed as I was and
you probably are as well as others. Not one freaking SG album on the whole
damn list. Not even Alice in Chains was on the freaking list. Superunknown
sooooooooo belongs on that freaking list ya know. Talking to my sister, we
came to the conclusion that Rolling Stone kinda sucks. I love Rolling
Stone magazine , but I am beginning to questiob its value. Not putting SG
on that list is like saying they never even freaking existed. Also, I have
had a subscription from Rolling Stone for the last maybe 2 and 1/2 years
and not one of them had SG on the cover!!

Does anyone know when SG was last on the cover of Rolling Stone? Maybe
I'll just stick with SPIN!!

Subject: Read me!!!!!!

This is indirectly related to SG.

I just got a brand new stereo today. A Magnavox. Reason 1) I need a decent
Cd player. Reason 2) It'll be wonderful for recording SG material.

Problem: It doesn't seem to be recording!! 2 tape decks and a CD player.
When I got the stereo, I also got 2 Maxell tapes. They're CD tapes. (I'm
sure everyone knows what I'm talking about.) I was going to tape some songs
for my mother. So I put a CD in, I put a blank tape in the recording deck,
I read my manual, followed all the instructions, I hit record, when the song
was finished, I hit stop on the recorder. I rewinded it to hear it and
there was nothing there!!! It used tape though! I have tried 3 times and
still nothing!! Have I got a bad stereo??? Why is it using tape if it's
not recording?? Do I need to take the stereo back?? Am I doing something
wrong? I really need to know.

I want so much to record stuff for other SOMMSters, but I want a stereo that
records and this one was quite expensive!!

I hope Seth doesn't get mad at me for posting this here, but you guys record
alot and I want to know if anyone has had this problem before. If it's a
bad stereo, I want to take it back as soon as possible and get another one.
Please help me!!!

May Soundgarden be with you.

Subject: URL

A while back someone posted the URL for a KERRANG! interview with Chris.
This interview is on Seth's page. It's the one where he, his friend Eric,
and Morat are on the Eurostar somewhere in Europe. Anyway, I checked out
the URL and it's some person's website I think. It had the interview there
along with 3 pics. Chris plucking nose hairs, him smiling and carrying
luggage, and him with a hilarious look on his face as he holds up a magazine
with a dog on the cover. I'm not sure, but I think it was a dalmation.

Does anybody have the URL for it? I wrote it down, but I can't find it now.
This was a while back. I'd appreciate it.

May Soundgarden be with you.
