Ruth,
I really don't like you am I. Infact I hate them. I was at the
melbourne festivel hall gig too. I'll give you am I this much though, they
played very well, bur I must say I don't like there music. What did you
thing of The Living End? They were the first band. I rteally liked them.
Anyway were you one of the people hanging around the side or back entrance
after the gig? I was around the side, but I had to go just before
soundgarden walked out, as my dad thought I'd been kidnapped. Where were you
sitting? I was front row behind the mosh. The mosh would have been cool, but
I usually get stood on.
Oh well, either reply threw the list, or mail me at the above adress.

On another note, just adding my two cents to what I would have liked
soundgarden at the two concerts I saw them at. I would have liked to hear
Birth Ritual and I really would have liked to have heared 4th of july.

Now on to the recovery thing. I guess this only aplies to the aussies on the
list. I recorded the whole soundgarden thing on it, and the live sections of
the big day out, I was there. I'm not to sure but if anyone from melbourne
wants me to copy it for them, send me a private email and we'll discuss it.

Hi all,
I have just found out what the next single from DOTU will be. RHINOSAUR.
I heard it about 3 mins ago on the local radio station, one of those
ones that only plays singles and only from recent albums. The DJ said:
"And this one's new from Soundgarden...Rhinosaur." Since it's one of my
faves on DOTU, this is very good news to me!
Take care & stay cool,

You know what else sucks. That fact that yesterday I paid 10 bucks to
have my SG poster lamenated. I didn't know it was going to cost that
much to have it done. It cost me more to lamenate the thing then it did
to buy it. Oh well, atleast now I have my poster finally hung up.

At the moment that is all I have to bitch about.

SEATTLE (AP) - Stars of today like Will Smith and Gillian
Anderson helped open the video arcade of the future, where a
Starbucks worker walked from room to room filling coffee cups from
a large bucket strapped to his back.
Anderson ditched her serious ``The X-Files'' persona Saturday
for a thrilling turn on a virtual water scooter at the grand
opening of GameWorks, where rapper Coolio and alternative rocker
Beck performed for a live MTV broadcast.
GameWorks, the first of dozens planned across the United States
by DreamWorks SKG, Sega Enterprises and Universal Studios, features
250 advanced video games and a slew of theme restaurants to keep
players fat and happy.
The idea is to update the traditional arcade for young adults
who don't mind dropping up to $5 for each whack at virtual reality.
While Anderson flew solo on the water scooter, Smith went
head-to-head with Microsoft mogul Bill Gates in an Indy-style
racing showdown.
``This is my spot now. This is where I'm spending my weekends,''
said Smith, who starred in ``Independence Day.'' ``This is
definitely the nightclub of the future.''
Other celebrities on hand included Arsenio Hall, MTV's Carmen
Electra, actor Frederick Forest, Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and
``Weird Al'' Yankovich.

Subject: 665/X-mas

Since I've had no luck finding the COMPLETE lyrics to 665 (UMOK), I'm trying
to figure them out myself, but alas I need help.
This is what I've already got:

- -------------------------------
It's creeping in
In so slow
Trapping it, nobody's home

"This is where I need help"-part

It's creeping in
In so slow
Trapping it, nobody's home
- -------------------------------

Then you've got the backwards-song, the right channel is best to use while
trying to figure out the lyrics. (is there a name for this song, or should I
just call it Santa, X-mas or something?):

- ------------------------------------------------
Oh baby, hail Santa, we don't steal/sleep?,
I'll never sleep/steal? with somebody
I love you Santa, I love you
You got my things Santa baby, help me
Yeah you know what I need
Santa is key, Santa is key.
Hail Santa, I love you baby, hail Santa
You've got what I need
Help, help, my Christmas key
Santa is my key, help
I love you Santa baby,
got what I need
- ------------------------------------------------

Is it just me, or is this song sort of hilarious?
Please mail me corrections/suggestions.

There are, I believe around 700 subscribers to somms, but what gives the
list life each day are the people who actually post to it. So what you read
is what the people who make an contribution want to say to us all (That's
not to knock all your lurkers btw :-)

In the five months I have been here, nearly every aspect of Soundgarden has
been pretty much covered, sometimes more than once. Some of it you may
consider frivilous, but the fact is, unless anything new happens in
Soundgardenland - new record to discuss, gigs to review, Chris' new tattoo
;-)- it's getting harder and harder to come up with topics to discuss.

Personally I think there's room for the musos, the god worshippers and the
more 'high minded' sommsters. I'm not having a go at you Stacey, but just
pointing out that if you want to talk about Soundgarden's music and what it
means to you, you're free to talk about it. That's what the list is for -
and you might even start a new thread.

I seriously doubt that this kit is/was really "UK only". From my
understanding this kit was put together for the Soundgarden Lollapalooza
tour this summer. It's a lolla palooza survival kit. This would explain
the water pistol. IMO it its not worth $230. I've seen it a couple of
times in Goldmine for under $100 (which is still too expensive IMO).
Can anyone confirm/deny the "UK only" status? SWC

To everyone: PLEASE follow the following guideline that Jason has on
his page:

"I have no way of knowing, but I ask that you at least have bought all
of Soundgarden's regular full length albums before you trade bootleg
tapes here. Bootlegs should be a supplemental part of your collection
of a band. Soundgarden does not receive any money from bootleg cd's.
The only way the band can keep making great music is if we the fans
support them by buying their records, cd's, singles, shirts, concert
tickets, etc."

Bootlegs are not a substitute for authorized releases, and should
never be considered as such. If you've got Fresh Deadly Rarities or
something like that, you should be prepared to buy an authorized
release that includes each of the songs as soon as you can find it.

Subject: I Wear The Pants!!!

hey. . .

i hope this is still relevant - i really don't know seeing as how i
haven't been receiving my mail since wednesday & when i tried to
go to seth's page to read what's been going on, my system kept
crashing. but i just wanted to put in my 20 cents on the "who wears
the pants" topic.
i have no doubt whatsoever that Chris is a very strong, assertive
person when it comes to his work, and his life. i also think it's
obvious that Susan is a very assertive person - she has to be, b/c of
her line of work. she's a business person - that's *her* field. Chris
is an artist, that's *his* field. i think it's rare that someone can be
both a successful artist and a successful business person. it's
Susan's job to decide what's right or wrong for the band -
*business wise*. it's not her job to decide what's right or wrong for
Chris, and i'm sure if she tried to, he wouldn't be married to her. i'm
positive that Chris would never do anything that he didn't want to
do, or that he didn't think was right. my point is - they both wear
their own pants... if that makes sense. :-)

and as far as the "celebrity" issue goes... all "celebrity" really means
is a person who is widely recognized... so yeah, in a way Chris is a
celebrity. he is to us, anyway... and lots of other people out there.
but really it's more the band that's the celebrity. with Sg it's different
than a band like Hole, where one person is extremely well-known
(unfortunately until recently for the wrong reasons) and the rest are
in the background. the 4 members of Sg make up one entity, and
really i think that's the way it should be. and Chris was never in it
for fame - he doesn't want his face or some persona he created to
be known to the world, he wants his art to be. and that's beautiful.

that's all for now. . .

Good question. On the end credits, they acknowledge all of the videos
on there (BHS, TDITTL, FOBD, My Wave) AND Spoonman. Maybe it is hidden,
and if it is, they've done a great job, because I certainly can't find
