Just thought I'd add my 2 cents on the CC tattooo thing. Does anyone know
what it looks like? Last time we were in Seattle--last March--Suzy and Katy
Cornell (yes, CC's siters who are in a band called Inflatable Soule w/ bro
Peter) were working on designs for a tattoo that everyone in the family was
going to get. At that point, according to the girls, CC was saying he'd do
it if everyone else was. I'll let you know what I find out. Talk of the
tattoo brought that little tidbit back to mind b/c at the time we didn't
think it was really, truly going to happen! later....deb

I called the radio station here in Chicago that gave away the "trip to
see Soundgarden anywhere in the US on their 97 tour" several times and after
many tries and lots of different people I talked to a guy in promotions. I
asked, "Did the guy who won the trip to see Soundgarden go to Hawaii to see
them?" He said, "I don't know where he chose to go" I said, "well
considering there are no other dates for a US tour and their fan club which
is run out of their manager's office says they are not touring how can you
give away a trip to a show if there is no tour?" He seemed to get nervous
and said, "who are you?" I told him I was on the mailing list and we were
curious about it and I bet that Silver Management might be interested in
knowing why you are using the band for false adverstising?" Than he said,
"can you hold on?" and was gone a long time. When he came back he said, "I
just talked to my boss and he said the record company gave us the trip so
you are going to have to talk to them we just gave way what they gave us"
So in other words he passed the buck to A&M. Now what I don't understand
why the promotional department doesn't know what they gave away and if the
guy did go to Hawaii why not advertise it. That sounds like a great prize to
me!! And the poor guy who won is he still waiting around to go "somewhere"
to see SG?? Or did he get 4 days notice to go to Hawaii?? I am inclined to
believe KOTS and accept the fact that there is no tour. UNLESS............
we can convince them to come to Las Vegas for a wild weekend with their
greatest fans!!!!
Sorry for building up any false hopes!! I was pretty excited myself! toni

dont have any yet, but if everything goes okay, I should end up with a few.

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I just have to comment on a couple
things:

U2: A good example of how soundgarden has not let fame go to their heads
like that.

Trent Reznor. Trent Reznor? arrrg! dead rotting dog. talk about depressing.

Do any of you guys listen to older RUSH? I think they have alot of the same
good qualities as Soundgarden does. If you like postive music, try Rush
Caress of Steel, its pretty good really.

I havent been listening to Soundgarden lately. And then Chris came to me
in a dream last night and just talked to me to remind me he was still there.
 I havent forgotten.

Someone asked about Susan managing other bands. Sorry but I found that
really hilarious. (hahahahahahahah).
Sorry someone.

Hello everyone...
I have a question for all the Sommsters out there that have the Push Cd.
When Spoonman is on and on the part that goes All my friends are
skeletons, beat the rythem with their bones. But instead of beat the
rythem with their bones someone shouts Fuck Her In The Head! Does
anyone know who says this? I know that Ben sings back up vocals on
Spoonman, but I have also heard the Matt sings back up vocals when they
play live. Or did this come from the frontman himself? I don't think
Chris says it though. Is this one of Bens fits that he has ever so
often(but we still adore him). I know this is useless info but I want to
know anyways. So if anyone does know let me know.

Today I discovered a SG song that I have been overlooking for awhile. I
was sitting in class listening to my CD player. And Overfloater came
on. This is a song that I haven't really paid much attention to along
with the last portion of DOTU. But today for some reason it totally
caught my attention. Why am I telling you all this I don't no. Maybe
it is the fact that I am bored out of my mind.

I wish I could contribute to the thread about which I think is better
Black Hole Sun/original or Black Hole Sun/Chris solo, but I have never
had the privilege to hear the solo version :( Even though the original
was over played I still listen to it and think it is great.

lissa- I am so bored that I went ahead and taped those things for you.
When you get back to from the fair e-mail me and let me know if you want
them or not. love ya...

Is it just me or is this week already going by sooo slow.

Hello everyone. I was a member of the list for a couple of months last
spring semester, but left because I had not internet access over the summer.
But I've been back for two weeks or so now, just reading the posts and
getting back into the swing of things. I guess it's obvious why Shroom
hasn't been posting too often, but another character I miss is Nothingman.
I've heard mention of him in a couple of posts--is he still here? Under a
different name (God forbid!)? I think he's at least partially responsible
for my addiction to Iced Tea. ;)

>how come noone ever writes about kim? he's like one of the best
>guitarists in the world. he also used to be a girl, isn't that wierd?
>maybe that's why you don't write about him, because he's a
>transsexual, and you're racist against transsexuals.

Now it's a shame that this is the first thing I chose to comment on since
returning to the list. But I just have to know if this guy is serious.
Well, are you? "Racist against transsexuals"? I didn't know transsexuals
constituted a race.

Anyway, Soundgarden is the reason I'm here. I reserved comment on this
earlier because I wanted to see how the list worked after being away for
almost a year. I guess it's pretty much the same, except we've got some new
characters around and old ones missing for the time being. Anyway, my
feelings on BHS--I really like the song because apparently I didn't hear it
as much as everyone else did. Sure, I heard it and saw the video more often
than any other Soundgarden song, but not enough to make me sick of it. And
as for it being a mainstream song, I don't feel that that detracts from it
significantly. What I see it as is a lot of people being able to appreciate
Soundgarden. And if they like that song, they may be tempted to buy the
album and hear more Soundgarden. Eventually, it may develop into something
that may even approach what many of you feel about Soundgarden.

I think we should look on these "mainstream songs" as connections for people
to get addicted to something that they really should be hearing. I've
always felt that the more music you can appreciate, the better off you are.
If you're in a situation where you have no control over the music that's
playing, you'll be most comfortable if you can appreciate whatever is
playing, and the broader your interests, the more likely you can have that
comfort. Now if I could only appreciate country and rap. ;)

Another thing I wanted to say was that I really enjoy reading the posts of
Lorraine (aka merlin.dwc I think). Lorraine, I agree with much of what you
say and you seem to have the ability to communicate very well. Keep it
up--that's what this list is all about. Or we could just complain about
racism against "races" like transsexuals. ;) Sorry, "seth"
<14804@carthage.k12.mo.us>, but I found that comment really funny.

to relate to the song.

What a totally insane suggestion! If Intolerance, Sober, Bottom, Swamp Song,
Undertow, Disgustipated, Stinkfist, Hush, Hooker With A Penis, Aenema,
Pushit, Third Eye etc. etc. etc. etc. have anything to do with being
molested then please send me to a mental hospital because I mustn't be

Even still that's crazy!

Sorry to go on with the Tool thing, but Tool rule and I can't see Maynard
getting ridiculed here.

- ------------------------------------------------

OK, Soundgarden content so I don't get unsubbed (which no-one might read
anyhow!) Maybe I'll start a new thread, Yay! Lets see how many people want
to respond to this one.

I was thinking about other bands might go doing Soundgarden covers. For
example I could picture Bernard Fanning from Powderfinger singing all kinds
of Soundgarden songs. The end of Slaves & Bulldozers, I could picture
Bernard singing the bit that when Chris goes, 'every word I said, is what I
mean..etc' in a deeper voice. I think he'd do Blow Up The Outside world
really well also.

I can picture Eddie Vedder and PJ doing Fresh Tendrils for some reason.
Primus would be able to do Half pretty well! Plant & Page doing Limo Wreck
would sound cool! Sting could do Bootcamp. The Ramones could do Ty
Cobb.....I wonder if Soundgarden will ever get a tribute album when they get
old and decrepit (ha ha what a thought!) like Sabbath, Kiss, Zeppelin,
Hendrix etc. Maybe if they ever get to the stage that they're the biggest
rock band in the world (well maybe not, Metallica seem to have that title).

So there ya go, see what bands/covers you can come up with!

Bye!

i just bought this cool cd in an auction... it's tracks from PJ's "Self

track...

i had it playing in the background just now.... i'm working in about three
different windows... anyway, it went from mad season to this version of
FoBD which i had COMPLETELY forgotten about... and it sounds kinda
mad-season-ish (if that makes sense) so it didn't register... it is
playing at a low volume out of my computer speakers (which are pretty
good, but not like full volume at home, there i'd have had no excuse).

anyway, i didn't recognize the damn song until the chorus and all i can
think is, 'WHY ISN'T THIS THE VERSION ON THE ALBUM????!'

my complaint with FoBD is *not* that it was overplayed. radio could
overplay this version to their hearts' content and i would LOVE it. my
problem with FoBD is that i think the album version is, well, insipid.

*this* version (of which i will be making a .wav for seth's page later)
has *balls*. this version is worthy of sg, imo.

anyway... i'd forgotten all about this, or maybe i never realized it
even... been so long since i've listened to all of SPR all the way

imo) i'd be WAY happy...

Obviously, someone who shops at my local Target thinks the same thing. One
day, I was making my way over to the CD department. I stopped first at the
"S" (aka Soundgarden) section, just to look and see what they had, to laugh
at their ignorance in stock. =) Upon looking under the black marker made of
flimsy plastic that said "Soundgarden," I saw NOT our beloved masters' art,
but that of Rush. It must have been a mistake, I thought. I wanted to check
the division marked "Rush," just to confirm my thoughts. Sure enough,
Soundgarden was taking Rush's place on the rack! Not amused with this, I
changed them back to where they should rightfully be - you should have seen
the looks on the faces of the Target staff. =)

Also, I had a dream the other night (I've had the song in my head all day,
I'm *going* to play with it's lyrics =) about Matt. It was kind of strange.
Matt was in an interview somewhere - first I was reading it out of a
magazine, then I was watching it on the idiot box, then I was there actually
interviewing him. I remember he was wearing a black Henley-collared shirt and
*tight* (a devilishly sexual grin follows this statement) blue jeans. In my
dream, he was not only a powerhouse drummer (as he is in real life) but also
an "amateur coreographer." I have absolutely NO idea what that is supposed to
mean, but that's what I dreamt. I guess it meant that had coreographed SG
concerts along with ballets and musicals. The interview showed clips of
people performing his dances (the interview on the idiot box) and he WAS JUST
ABOUT TO DANCE HIMSELF when my alarm went off. 6:00 had NEVER come so early
in my life! I was a bit urked to NOT be able to see the second sexiest man on
earth actually dance. I can now only imagine his lean body moving gracefully
across the floor like...

WELL, I'm getting a little ahead of myself aren't I?? <<embarassed grin>>

I guess that should do for now. If anyone has the last half of that dream
PLEASE LET ME KNOW. =)

Sweet dreams of Matt dancing (naked =),
Benlover (who occasionally whores her principles in favor of other gorgeous
musicians =)

well, now that we all know our esteemed list admin for the smart
alec he is (please don't unsub me. I'll be good), does anyone know whether
the snippet of 'death valley' used on ultramega is different to the
version contained on the original record? I feel like doing work on the
faq, but the virtual legwork can be left to someone else :)
