I like the cd vers. better. I luv the live performance by cc, but it's
so much better with the full-on electric /fx music supporting it. I
really enjoyed seeing sg twice in 96 but want to see them more. They
sounded so great and creative and definitely psychedelic. I hope the new
cd is more like this space that I heard live. Don't get me wrong- I'm so
into the metal, I would like to hear them create a mutant
space/metal/psyche even heavier than ever. Luv, sky

The person who posted about the solo version of BHS is talking about his
live performances of the song this past year... instead of the whole
band doing the song Chris went up on stage by himself and sang it ... I
don't know if you can find it on any bootleg or not unless there's a cd
out of one of his recent concerts... As for me.. I prefer the solo
version.. it's probably because the other one's been overplayed and his
solo was a nice change

If any of you have tried to access the website lately, I guess you've
discovered that it's down. It seems that all of a sudden sgi.net is
upgrading to their new servers; each time they had attempted it in the
past, something went wrong so they canceled the operation. This time
it looks like they decided to do it without advance knowledge

it will be down...

as many of you know, charles peterson is a legendary seattle photog, he was

he's doing a show in chicago (wish to hell he'd do one HERE) and i'd highly

Yeah, I definitely know this one! In fact, I've had a postcard of that pic
sitting on the dash of my car for years! I like to think of it like the
carrots they used to dangle in front of a horse's face to keep them
moving....it keeps me drivin on!!!

<< Does anyone know where I might be able to get a poster

I personally have never seen a poster of it, but the 12" single provides a
lovely picture for display!

<< It's the only picture of Chris with long hair that *really* does something
for me >>

Okay, now to me, this is completely insane!!! I don't know any guy who
doesn't look better w/ long hair (except maybe the Thug..or so he says), but
Chris w/ long hair is as beautiful as a human being can possibly be! But, of
course, his short little curls are definitely *amazing*. To each his own!

<< people don't find it as weird if you stare at a poster as they do if you
satre at the cover of a CD, I have found out >>

Who cares?! I stare at a keychain all day! But I'll be glad to keep an eye
out for a poster for ya, girlie! Chris looks sooooo golden in that pic...and
those boxer-lookin shorts...Anyone know where that pic was taken? Thug?
Shroomy? I want to stand in that very spot!!!

Hope to see some of my fellow SOMMSters in March in Seattle!!! Yayay!

What??? No meaning or imagery to Tool?? I just recently got into Tool, and
frankly, every song on Aenima disturbs me as much as 4th of July or Room a
1000 Years Wide...or Megalomania by Black Sabbath. And imagery?? You ever
seen 'Eraserhead'? That's what Tool does to me. Definitely some David Lynch
visuals goin on there. Maybe you aren't listening closely enough to the
lyrics! They are very depressing, but have entered my life at a time which
makes them very meaningful.
Give 'em another listen when you're really stressed out and bummed!

Sorry....I know this isn't very SG related, but neither is U2, so I thought

'Hard Headed, Fuck You All'

I think I can remember someone telling the list about this before, but there
seemed to be a bit of confusion about it...

I was at a record fair this morning, and while rooting through the usual
copies of the BIMH, PN and BOTOW singles, I found a Limited Edition Numbered
(436, I think) promo copy of 'Ty Cobb' ... And like whoever first mentioned
this said, 'Hard Headed, Fuck You All' is proundly emblazoned on the front
cover, black writing on a green background, in *MASSIVE* text!!!! It seems
this ain't the censored version...

Just in case anyone else is interested I also saw a 4 track promo for DOTU,
which had a yellow cover, can't remember the design, sorry... and an 'On
Tour' promo with Flower, JCP and Hands All Over... I think... I don't pay
too much attention to promo's if they have tracks I've already got...

Later,	Brydon

I have received a few emails like this, so I want to respond ( i will tie in
SG somehow)....Yes, Tool has intense meaning and imagery, *however*, i was
talking about lyrics which have "big picture" meaning...I know all about how
Maynard was molested at age 11 by his dad after his mom died, etc. etc. and
I, thank god, cannot relate to that...I am not saying they are not intense,
but they do not have much real meaning to me (though I totally and respect
his need to use his music to heal himself)..but 30 songs about being
molested has no impact on my life (i know there are a couple of exceptions
to their song content, i am speaking in generalities...)

Chris Cornell (and Bono), and a few others, however, have written some
lyrics which say something profound and significant about the state of the
world and relate to *all* of us, not just those who have been through a
similar tragic event...If you live in this world, on this planet, you can
relate and derive meaning from them...Yeah, some of Maynard's words are
actually more *disturbing* than 4th of July, but 4th of July, RTYW, etc. say
so much more that i can relate to and actually have value...Whereas
Maynard's words are totally personal, Cornell and Bono's words are
(generally) more global, and thus more meaningful to me (again, this is all
my opinion...)

I'll talk to you, Mind Riot! :-) I agree with you. That solo version =

It's the way CC pauses before singing most of the lines that makes this =

As along as this whole contest thing seems to be on a roll, I have something
of my own to offer to the masses...a Burden In My Hand CD single
(Australian), courtesy of the stupid f**ks at On Cue that wouldn't know a UK
import if it jumped up and bit them, well you get it.

It is in a cardboard sleeve with all the stickers and stuff still on it. The
track list is: Burden in My Hand, Karaoke, Bleed together, and the Birth
Ritual demo. Even though it isn't what I ordered, it's still a cool
collection of tunes, so I figured somebody should have it.

You know the drill. E-mail <setward2@uwc.edu> by Friday, Feb. 21 to

I would have to say that the original long CD version of BHS is cooler. Think
about it for a sec. Pretend that BHS was just released yesterday. We would
all be praising it and saying how it is this great SG song..but the fact that
it has been overplayed to death changes that for some people. The fact is that
it is a very very good song with great lyrics, in my opinion. The solo
version is great but the original still affects me more for some reason.
I know I am probably in the minority here.

Anyway, what collaborations would you all like to see happen with Chris

Also, does anyone know anything about a potential new single from SG? It
was rumored that Ty Cobb was going to be it but who knows. Hey I just
came up with yet another thread (am I talented or what?).

What b-sides would you all like to see on future sg singles?

I would love to see SG place all three of the Moby remixes of Dusty on one.
That would be very cool. Anyway, what do you all think?

 Hi. =)

I went to an underground-used record, disc, tape store the other day, in
hopes of finding something both rare and Soundgarden. Well, I asked the guy
behind the cash register - this guy must have been in the back room tending
to his bong, or something, there was NOTHING behind his eyes except the urge
for a Slim Jim - if the store happened to carry any used Soundgarden material
(they're doing consrtuction so everything over there is a haphazrd mess). I
was specifically looking for Fresh Deadly Rarities or Stolen Prayers. Well,
the guy disapeared into the back room for about ten minutes (and I'm not so
sure he was looking for any CD's) and the kid next to me leans over and says
"White Zombie kicks Soundgarden's ass." This from a pimply-faced 19-year-old
wearing a Bush t-shirt. Then he smiled at me. Ugh, it gave me the shivers.
ANYWAY, the stoney cash register dude popped out of the back room and told me
all they had was a Badmotorfinger album.
When I got home I called every used CD store in my phone book and none of
them had either disc. I should probably get to the point, shouldn't I?

POINT OF THIS POST >>>>>> Will anyone out there who has one or both of these
recordings be so kind as to send a copy my way? I would be eternally
greatful, and I have access to other rare SG recordings around here that I
could hook you up with.

Also, for some reason I have not been able to find any of the BUTOW singles
anywhere. If anyone could help me find them I would also be greatful.

Thanks much to anyone who can help,
