My oh my... I take off for a couple weeks, and all kinds of crazy stuff
happens, hmmm? ;-) Ben is having fits on stage and Chris gets a tattoo.
How interesting. Is it Armageddon? What the hell is going on?!? (As I
type this, PJ comes on the radio... and as usual, I immediately see Mike
McCready naked in my mind. Thanks alot Caryn and Chris, love y'all. But why
couldn't it be Stoney?!? ;-)

About Chris' tattoo... why that man would choose to ink his perfect body
after 32 years is beyond me. It's an awfully romantic idea, though. I can't
help but wonder if Susan got a tattoo, also. I've heard it's the latest
rage. ;-) I'm such a snot sometimes.

IBfuckingM sucks because they hire idiot repair technicians. I got my
computer back yesterday, and it now has power... but only 4 megs of RAM. How
in the hell am I supposed to run ANY programs off of 4 megs of RAM? I was
already struggling with 8!! IBfuckingM sucks, and I wouldn't recommend them
to anyone. The person who sucks the most is Jonathan Simpson... he's the
tech who is responsible for me having to send my computer BACK to IBfuckingM
to get back my other 4 megs... may he unknowingly end up dating Lorena
Bobbitt's sister.

Question:
How many SOMMSters does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer:
All of them.
1 SOMMSter to post the idea about everyone voting on what color the new bulb
should be, 600 SOMMSters to argue for two months about what color they want,
1 SOMMSter to post the price of the new bulb, 350 SOMMSters to actually send
in their money to finance the replacement, and 1 SOMMSter to run off with all
the money for the new bulb. ;-)
                   (Hi Nothingman, you poop.)

I hate being away from all the fun. If anything really interesting happens,
someone please please let me know. I feel so far removed from everything...
it's driving me crazier. Blah. Life is harsh, Chris has a tattoo, and Kim
is still going bald. (Hi Velvet! Send me that picture of Chris and Dave in
the hot tub together already!! I'm dying for it!! ;-)
             Luvs to all my friends...
                       <kisskiss>
                                 Shroomy

"Everyone thinks that this tattoo I got stands for Susan's birth sign, but it
actually means 'I worship Shroom Girl' in ancient Arabic. Shhh... don't tell
anyone, because otherwise Susan would find out, get mad and then ground me.
I hate being restricted from doing fun rockstar things like playing the
guitar and getting harassed in public places. And when my friends come to
the door to pick me up to go snowboarding or something, Susan tells them "No,
Chris can't come out and play because he's been a bad rockstar, so he's
grounded for a month." I love you Shroomy, but I really hate not being able
to hang out with Eddie. He gives the BEST hickies. But the tattoo is all
you, babe."

The recipient of #23 is (like Ms. Phelan before him) a
resident of Chicago. Not only that, but he shares the first

Mr. Ben (jammin) Timberlake, step up and claim your SAP.

I must note that Ben was the first runner-up, the actual

It is a long story...and details will not be forthcoming.

we won't get the Wellwater Conspiracy album in South America, i don't think
anyone would even bring it down here as an import or find it if i special
ordered it so i was wondering if anyone could help me. i haven't yet found
a place that carries money orders where i live in, i'm sure there are a few
but they will probably charge me too much to get the thing done. i'll be in
the US (L.A.) next week and until the first days of March (sadly i have to
be back here before the 11th) so i would be thankful to any of you who
could get this cd for me and send it down here (to Lima, Peru that is). i
will probably find a money order to send you while i'm in Los Angeles. so i
would send you the money on the last days of Feb. (cd+shipping to Peru).
please email me if you can help. thank you.

by the way, i had very little hope in a surprise soundgarden show in L.A.
after the Hawaii ones (one can dream) but now all hopes are lost, they're
not doing any more shows now that i'll be up there and they won't tour
South America (now that's a surprise). so i guess i'll have to wait another
year to have a chance to see them.

hey sommsters-

quick attempt at a small thread start...<cause somms is snoring like
a chainsaw these past couple of days...>
for those of you who can still listen to BHS, which version
do you like better; the original long CD version, or the new solo
version cc did during the past tour?
personally, i totally favor the CC solo. even though we all know he
would have chose to not sing that song one more time if he really
wanted to, this version instills such a deep feeling inside me. it
seems so passionately hurt and sad and filled with deep sincerity of
feeling... i dunno, the way the words were slowed down and the notes
he hit were lower nearly the whole time, and then how right near the
end of the 2nd chorus he hit the higher, louder notes... to me, its
one of the most amazing versions of a song i've ever heard.
i hope someone else cares to comment on this, or i'll be just
talking to myself...

Subject: nothing particular

Just got back from the music store and I am know the proud owner
of a SG poster that has all the band members on it(my first SG poster I
might add) and also Screaming Life/ Fopp CD. With SL/F I have completed
my collection of SG main stream CDS,(APPLAUSED NOW) but now I have to
continue with the other things. I also bought the newest issue of
GoldMine and unlike who posted earlier about not finding anything I
found a couple of posters and some other imports. All I need is money
and then I could actually afford the things in the magazine. Only two
more months and I can get a job.

About SG taking the summer off. I think they deserve a rest.
If not and they were still touring they would be tired and pissed off
and nobody wants that. The more time they have to themselves the more
they will stick around making the music we can't function properly
without.

If anyone is looking for the BadMotorFinger/SOMMS set I know
where you can find it but the only catch is you have to bid for it. I
think the minimum bid is something like 14.99. The bid has to be in
before the 27 of Feb. E-mail and I will tell you where it is.

Do you perfer the old SG or the new SG? The early wailing of
Chris or the more low key croonings of now? Or does it just depend on
your particular mood?
For me it is the whole mood I am in. Anthing that is work or requires
energy to do the earlier SG.SL/F-BMF. Sitting around or thinking the
newer stuff. SU-DOTU. But if I had to pick I would choose the younger
SG.

Know that I have put everyone to sleep with my ramblings I will go.

From: SJordet@aol.com
Subject: lots of stuff

Okies, I've got a question and a few other things to say that I find
interesting but really will not go anywhere conversation-wise.

Question first:
     I just - I don't know, "enrolled" (so I'm not exactly eloquent today) -
in the BMG (Big Money Gamble) music club about six months ago. Geeze, these
guys take forever in their delivery - but that's beside the point. I was
looking through the little booklet thingie that shows which albums they have,
and Soundgarden was NOWHERE to be found. Now, I know for sure that they have
been carried by BMG (Buy More Garbage) before, because I was looking through
the discs at Cheapo a month or so ago and one of their Badmotos said "Mfd.
for BMG Direct Marketing, Inc." I also saw all of their albums produced on
A&M for, um, solicitation in one of their ads a couple years ago. Are
Soundgarden still with these guys and they just aren't being sold, or did SG
dump these guys, or vice versa, or what? It's not really something to worry
about, but that little gerbil inside of my head is doing overtime to try and
keep up with my rabid obsessions over tiny things.

The conversation going around about Chris and sex with him...I think most of
you are right. Not very many of us would actually have a night alone with
him, because, even though a lot of us who think about that don't even know
him, we still care for him and want his respect more than his libido. I also
think that part of what makes him so goddamn attractive and appealing is
beacuse he's married. Not because if any of us did have a fling with him it
would be decietful and more exciting, but because we know he cares about
things in an emotional way and is mature and caring enough to devote his life
to those things. At least that's how I feel.

It's kind of funny and strange when you're going along and reading all of
these SG realated messages, when all of the sudden you go to the next
message, hoping to read something about a fight Ben got into or a new single
or EP Soundgarden are putting out, when you realize the post you're reading
isn't actually a post and has nothing to do with Soundgarden. When you reach
the words "..a new jock-itch formula that works on contact to soothe and
cool..." you silently curse the world of advertisement for interrupting your
train of thought. =)

I was listening to 4th of July the other day, laying on my bed with me feet
up and my eyes closed, and realized - this is an amazing song. There are no
words you can use to describe the feeling this song gives you - it's almost
like an orgasm. =) Absolutely gorgeous this song is, a masterpiece in it's
class - and all others.

One last thing. I know that we've just kind of gotten over the whole
Kickstand conversation, but I'm resurrecting it briefely (don't hate me).
I've always looked at Superunknown as a kind of trip I take. It gives me the
simulation I'm swimming under dark water, but it's only water in a dream.
Kickstand, although I have never eally cared a whole lot for the song, gives
me the feeling that my upper body has come out of the black liquid briefly,
only to be sucked under again by the strong undertow of Fresh Tendrils.
Therefore, I find it necessary, as a kind of ritual, to listen to the song
along with the rest of the album so as I don't drown in the emotion of the
rest of the other songs.

Well, I'll shut up now,
Benlover

Hmmmmm. I've never seen that before. I've found that DW product
literature isn't terribly accurate when it comes to *any* of their
endorsers, though. For example, when Matt still used DW shells, DW ran an
advertisement in Modern Drummer which diagramed "his" kit. Almost all of
the shell sizes (and colors) were wrong. But then again I haven't paid much
attention recently. I know he used to use the Turbo chain drive, but I'm
sure he owns a bunch of every model of pedals that DW makes. Hell, I would
too if I got them free. But you're right; the nylon strap pedals feel great.

That's probably because they were diagramming ONE of his many kits. Most pro
drummers with major endorsements usually go all out---and remember, Matt's
got studio work, live dates and all sorts of side projects (the jazz
side-projects in particular) to deal with. I heard hes got a way with power

I think the question was: If you had a choice between SG never
doing another album & never touring, what would it be?
That's easy.
Seeing Soundgarden live is an experience like none other. The
feeling you get from it is incomparable. Some of the best days of
my life were the days I went to their shows.
The day I heard there wouldn't be another tour I felt so dejected,
and I was pretty mad too. I don't get it. What about what that
Chicago station was doing? Giving away free tickets & stuff?
Isn't that sorta like false advertising?
I don't know... maybe it's not true. What does everybody else
think? Is there still some forlorn hope of a tour?
I just saw them back in november, but it's never enough, you
know?
