Subject: Big Day Out TV Special

Tonight the pay-tv channel 'RED' had a one hour special on the big day out
97 featuring interviews and live footage. Kim was interviewed, I'll try to
transcribe it sometime (man it takes a long time to transcribe stuff! Still
working my way through Kim's interview on JJJ). Then they showed Spoonman
live, which was good, except they cut it off about 3/4 of the way through,
which sucked because all the other bands featured got their whole song
shown. The other bands on it were Frenzal Rhomb, Supergrass, Powderfinger,
Fear Factory, You Am I, The Prodigy and Soundgarden (Offspring wouldn't
allow themselves to be recorded or interviewed because they are too 'punk'.
What a bunch of arseholes) Anyway, the footage was really good, good
camerawork, good sound.....I think maybe us Australian sommsters should
maybe arrange to get in touch with Red and see if they could be able to sell
us a tape featuring the whole set...that would be awesome. It was from the
Sydney Big Day Out incidently. I'll be mailing them as soon as I get the chance.

Some things of note. Kim was asked questions about the knights of the
soundtable, how nervous they get, the name of their publishing titles (like
in one ear out your mother). Not a lot much else, it wasn't too extensive. I
thought an interesting bit was when You Am I was being interviewed though
and when asked about Soundgarden, Tim Rogers seemed 'real' pissed off. Then
the interviewer asked what Soundgarden thought about the change in musical
style that You Am I has had and then Rogers seemed even more pissed off, and
rambled something about Soundgarden and the way he was talking it seemed
like he hated Soundgarden. Weird I thought. The interviewer's just gone 'ah,
maybe i shouldn't have asked that!'

Well anyways, bye for now!

In response to the thread on the amount of album versus recording we would
like to see SG do:

Sept.96' Drum article in Seth's website.

Cameron: Well, I just like making music with the band. It's still full
of surpises. I think this record is a good example of that. So I just
see us doing more records, and probably a little less touring, because
that's the thing that can chew up a band more than anything. We're a
really good studio band, so I hope we can taper off the touring end of
it in the next couple of years, and maybe try to do a couple more
records, and see how much more we have in us. Right now, though, the
well is definitely full. Everyone has more tunes, and I'm anxious to
get us back in the studio fairly soon.

Well? That's out of one of the horses mouth's.If that is close to what
they actually do then that probably means no spring or summer tour
anywhere. And hopefully they do more than a "couple more records" if
they slow down the touring.

Personally this put a couple rain clouds in my sky, hope wise
,because I have only had the chance to see them once.Needless to say
it was the best show I have ever seen. But I want to see them more.At
least 8 more times!!! *smile*

I guess the Superunknown shall be revealed soon enough.
And whatever they do is alright with me as long as they are together.

Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the 4th of July

ugh. I looked at her like she must be kidding and I realized she wasn't....I
replied with "THIS MUSIC IS TEN YEARS OLD - TEN YEARS!!!!!!"

bit of alliteration there, sorry I'm in the middle of an English

Anyroad, the best larynx lasher in the shower is either Kyle Petty... or
else She's a politition, both B-sides I think. Feel free not to flame me if

Anyone know where I might get the tab for Birth Ritual? I know i'ts a

I discovered today that the vinyl and CD versions of Pigeonhed's The
Full Sentence are different. The CD has 4 extra tracks that are not on
the vinyl (Phunpurephun, 31st Of July, For Those Gone On, and Honor).

For Boston-area list members, this discovery was made in Nuggets, a
record/CD shop on Comm Ave (West of Mass Ave, right near Deli Haus),
where both the CD and vinyl versions of the album are available for
$10. They also have the Spoonman 7" picture disc for $2.50 (I picked
up the TDITTL 7" pic disc (and SUB-POP-100)) and some of the various
PN, BIMH, and BUTOW CD singles.

Before the snow hit this weekend I manage to hit a few of the used CD
shops.

Pigeonhed "The Full Sentence" (CD) - $5
Truly "Fast Stories...From Kid Coma" - $5
(This CD has a licensed for promotional use only sticker on it)
Soundgarden Book by Jon Ewing - $2
Alternative NRG Greenpeace - $2
(has Soundgarden's "New Damage")

I just wish there were more good vinyl shops in my area.

>>OR

>>B- Two or three more albums and lots of touring?

>>Personally, I'd take A. I only get to see them once every 3 or 4 years

Lance, you know, if you'd asked me that question one month ago, I would =
have opted for A, and for the same reasons you did.

BUT..................

........that was before I'd ever seen Soundgarden in concert. =20

oh boy - I'm STILL excited about it all, even though it's over - I guess =
I should get arse into gear and start typing up that second review

No amount of playing Soundgarden's music in your stereo will *ever* live =
up to that feeling you get when you experience them live. When you can =
*see* Kim looking directly at you. When you can *feel* the music coming =
at you through the ground, through your ears, through your toes. When =
you can *know* that you are witnessing one of the best live acts in the =
world. NOTHING can beat that feeling, NOTHING. {all in my humble =
opinion, of course!}

Now that I know the incredible euphoria one gets when watching this band =
do their thing, I would be happy to simply listen to the music they have =
made up to now and remember those two wonderful concerts I saw. So, I =
guess what I'm trying to say is that I would probably opt for B - =
because then I'd have a chance to see them play again, and STILL have =
some great Soundgarden albums to listen to each day! :-)

this a double disc or a single in two parts just like BIMH?

hurry back shroomie. . .i miss reading your shit and falling out of my

so anyway, caryn, how many sommsters does it take to screw in a

	1 to hold the bulb
	1 to hold the ladder
1 to turn off the main power
1 to hold the flashlight (it would be dark you know)
400 to dance around the ladder to "switch opens"
and 1 to hammer the bulb in
