I'm probably taking a big chance here but if anyone lives near San
Luis Obispo, CA...Hype! has come to the Palm Theater on Palm St.
Showings are daily at 9:30.

It totally surprised me to see that the movie has come to this
sleeply little town, in the middle of nowhere. I guess this gives
hope to other people in sleeply little towns who probably thought the
same thing I did, "Will I ever get to see this movie?" Keep hope
alive, and your prayers just might get answered by the Mighty

The next item not up for bids here on The Price Sucks is
a cd for Matt Cameron fans. It is the Tone Dogs
Ankety Low Day cd, with Amy Denio, MC Drummer and someone
else who's name escapes me at the moment. I originally
did buy this for myself, unlike most of the other giveaway
items, but I just can't get into the music. (I realize this
makes me an unworthy SG fan, so there is no need for anyone
to point that out)

The usual crap: email to enter, winner picked at random.
Winner (only) must provide a shipping address. Once notified,

think of to get hold of a copy of Request Magazine October 1994. Their back
issues department said it was one of their most popular issues ever and sold
out really quickly. I wonder why? ;-)

Now, someone who is, or was, contributing to Seth's site scanned in the
cover and some of the pix (including the one of Chris and Susan)and sent
them to Seth. So, whoever you are, if you are reading this and want to send
me a xerox copy of the article, I would be *eternally* grateful. And of
course I would type it up for the website so everyone could enjoy it.

Fingers crossed.

Subject: 3 hrs of power interview with Kim

I set myself up to tape the said interview, but because I pressed record and
went to sleep, I didn't calculate the timing properly, and only ended up
with 4 of the Festering Five tracks.

He talks about the movie "Hype", Seattle before and after ("it was a lot
quieter"); american radio; deciding to play guitar at 16 because he was a
KISS fan, and thought "I could do this"; being a college radio DJ in the
early 80's; the incredible personal thrill of playing with idols The
Ramones, at the big day out in 94, and becoming friends with them.

Tracks 1 - 4 are as follows:

The Beasts of Bourbon - "Saturated"
MC5 - "Rocket Reducer"
Richard Hell - "Liars Beware"
The Ramones - "Carbona Not Glue"

Then the tape cuts out. Hope that's enough!!

Subject: ty cobb

Since there still seems to be some confusion regarding what the next SG
single will be, I will state more clearly what I know of this promo single.
300 Ty Cobb promo singles have been distributed in the UK only. Promo
singles are actually only meant for radio stations and the like, but as
usual, promo stuff is being sold at extremely high prices at select record
stores and mail order companies. Since A&M bothered distributing these
singles, I will assume that Ty Cobb will most likely be the next release.

Anyway, more on the promo: I'm not sure if the song's edited, 'cos a little
sticker on the cover says: Limited Edition, 300 copies only..... "hard
headed fuck you all"... so it doesn't sound too censored.
If you do want one of these promo singles, you'd better start saving:
they're going for around $30 (which is fucking insane, considering it's only
one song). I have no idea where you can get them, but I know you'll have a
good chance, if you're a mail-order club member of some sort (or if you're a
dj).

Sorry I didn't get to this earlier, it was before the long weekend and we
went up to Noosa to enjoy the beach, surf, sand and the girls.....too bad it
rained....oh well still good to go for a swim :)

Kim did play his festering 5 on the 3 hours....basically 5 songs that he
likes/infulenced him or whatever the hell he feels like playing :)

In order played they are:
5)Beasts Of Bourbon 'Saturated'
4)MC5's 'Rocket Reducer'
3)Richard Hell and the Voidods 'Liars Beware'
2)Ramones 'Carbona not Glue' (not sure about the first word :)
1)Thin Lizzy 'The Rocker'

And for all those wondering what the next single is, or if it will be Ty
Cobb, 3 hours of power ALWAYS play Ty Cobb...ever since the album came out
and yes after Kim's little visit..Ty Cobb was played once again...somehow
tho I don't see it getting air play anywhere else (other then JJJ)

I have the whole thing on tape if anyone is REALLY intersted in what was
said...mail me if I get enough requests I'll type it up when I can.
Personally I didn't think it was that great..Kim talking about why he picked
the songs he did and not much else really.

What song of Soundgarden's, upon hearing it, made you realize that SG

Mine would have to be The Day I Tried To Live. I first got into SG by

Subject: Sexiest Songs

Hey Folks!

I'm been thinking about this sexiest song thing for awhile and I definitely
agree with two popular choices: Mailman & Tighter and Tighter. I think the
vocal effects on Tighter and Tighter are what really do it for me on that one
and Mailman was immediately my favorite song on Superunknown the first time I
listened to it. I, like many other ladies on the list, am quite partial to
the sarcasm here (is this some kind of indicator of how dysfunctional we
are?:>). Someone also mentioned the Fell on Black Days video version. That
song used to stop me in my tracks every time I saw the video. I even taped it
off of Mtv one night (something I haven't done since I was, oh, about 12). I
love the way they slowed it down and Chris' voice sounds SO sultry! Another
one I haven't seen mentioned (I apologize if it has been) is Let Me Drown.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and call this a *love song*. The chorus
reminds me so much of how it feels when you're SO into someone and you just
want to be completely submerged in their entire being. And finally...one I
haven't seen mentioned yet (unfortunately it's not even a SG song) is the
version of Helter Skelter they did on this last tour. It absolutely blew my
doors off when I saw them in December! I'm still considering those five
minutes a bonafide sexual experience (although that may be personal problem
:>). I recently got the video of the Fairfax show and am now able to
hear/watch that in the privacy of my own home which, I'd like to point out,
my boyfriend should be *very* worried about.

It's been great reading everyone's responses to this thread and the
scariest/joyful one as well. I couldn't really think of a scary one and
they're all joyful to me in their own way. Yesterday or the day before Jamie
wrote:
I have been reading all the post on the scariest, sexiest, and emotional

songs from our beloved SG. Most every post states in one way or other that

SG music is mostly dark and brooding. Which I agree with completely. But

tell me why is it when you see them in concert your mood is far from dark

and brooding.
If

SG is all dark and moody why the great high when we hear them live. Don't

get me wrong I agree that their music is mostly dark and I love them for

it. But yet they give us such an emotional high when we are in their

presents.

In a strange kind of way this is what makes their music joyful to me. It
makes my heart glad to hear something I feel expressed in such a creative and
honest way even if it's something dark or depressing like death or
loneliness. I think a person has to work hard to find genuineness in anything
these days and when you find it in music and lyrics like Soundgarden's, the
emotional release, whether it's sadness, anger, pain or ecstasy brings you a
certain joy in that you are actually *feeling* something. And seeing the
people who bring up these emotions in person is definitely a certain kind of
high. When I saw them last month, I had been driving for over twenty hours
straight, I pulled into my driveway, ran to the bathroom, took a shower and
immediately headed out to the show. All I thought about while driving down
the entire west coast was if I can stay awake, Soundgarden is the light at
the end of my tunnel. I was as tired and beat as I have ever been but when
they came on stage some kind of reserve energy came forward and took over. It
was very much like an artificial high only about a thousand times better
because it was pure emotional release. Very much like sex actually:-)

Okay, I've rambled on long enough (I drank too much coffee this
morning--sorry!)

distracted listening to it ;-) And a close second would be Boot Camp live -
maybe i feel this way cuz i was on stage for it in Chicago and watched CC's

make me nuts! okay....ANYWAY

for all those who sent me email about my vinyl discoveries - I BOUGHT THEM
ALL! I swear, the yellow BMF has never been played and it was $7....the
Orange SU was prolly never played either...the red Louder than Love looked

found the Screaming Life EP on vinyl for $7....what a day!!! I also saw
some other CD imports - 'Seattle in 1990' and "Push" but i didnt buy them (i
have learned that lesson ;-) ....But sorry to those who asked, my purchases
are not for sale...i am not a vinyl collector but the stuff is already

An image of Chris with his head tilted down just a little, eyes half
closed, lips slightly parted, his hair long. Under the image the words:

     Loud Love
      "DAMN"

I think mine was Superunknown.. when I first got the superunknown cd and
listened to that song I was like "woah" and listened to it tons.. the
lyrics to the song are great... I'm happy I have the glow in the dark
shirt which has them written on the back...=)
speaking of Soundgarden not being just another band.. when I first heard
of them I thought their band name was awesome too.. even if it is named
after a sculpture.. it just gives me these great images in my head...

Nice call Andrea. I liked what you said. Soundgarden really does give us
so much with their music even to the idea that it is dark and gloomy. Who
better to feel miserable with than SG. Who better to have a good cry with
than SG. Who better to feel excited and emotionally charged with than SG.
Because they were with you during the hard times you can get emotionally
high when you see them perform live.

probably the songs from Superunkown. I deem it as my favorite SG CD(do I
sound like an Olde Englishwoman or what?) Aside from the songs that were
played out on the radio from SU, the songs that made me think SG were "not
your average band" are Like Suicide, Fourth of July, Mailman--basically the
really dark songs on the CD, which were most of them-!
Even though the SG makes a lot of dark songs, I don't get depressed about
'em. There are other bands who write dark songs that do that, but not SG.
I guess you could say it's like good blues music. There's a lot of soul
and great guitar--what's to be depressed about? okay, I'm just a ramblin'
girl....
Aside from great lyrics and tunes, Chris is a damn good vocalist, and
that's rare in this day and age of 3-minute pop stars that only last in
MTV's Buzz Bin.

>>Kim did play his festering 5 on the 3 hours....basically 5 songs that =
he
likes/infulenced him or whatever the hell he feels like playing :)

In order played they are:=20
5)Beasts Of Bourbon 'Saturated'
4)MC5's 'Rocket Reducer'
3)Richard Hell and the Voidods 'Liars Beware'
2)Ramones 'Carbona not Glue' (not sure about the first word :)
1)Thin Lizzy 'The Rocker'

>>I have the whole thing on tape if anyone is REALLY intersted in what =

said...mail me if I get enough requests I'll type it up when I can.
Personally I didn't think it was that great..Kim talking about why he =
picked
the songs he did and not much else really.

Hey Lee! I would love it if you'd at least type up the part of Kim =
talking about the songs he picked. I am really stoked he'd pick old Aus =
band Beasts of Bourbon (that are touring with them at the moment for the =
BDO - Vikki, the lead singer of the Beasts is Tex Perkins, the same =
singer in The Cruel Sea)!! If any of you remember around October 1995 =
on the list a thread going around was what were our favourite 10 albums. =
The Beasts' "The Axeman's Jazz" was in my top ten. They've gone much =
more mellow these days ("Saturated" which Kim picked is from their =
latest album and is pretty 'soft' sounding).

If you could type up that part, Lee, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!! =20

Oh, sexy song? Big Dumb Sex, for me. Even if it wasn't meant to be =
that way! :-) And the first four songs from BMF (up to JCP). They're =
good songs to have wild sex to - try it some time! ;-)

Scary song - definitely Beyond the Wheel. I think that song wins that =
prize for the most votes.

Happy song - yes, as someone (Geoff??) suggested, Spoonman, without a =
doubt. The way the band ran onto the stage on Sunday night and erupted =
into that song with such smiles on their faces, I would say Spoonman =
makes THEM feel happy also. AND Dusty. I was actually disappointed =
they didn't play that at the concert for I would have liked to hear them =
do such a positive song live.

And one final thing (sorry, I just can't resist), silverchair's new =
album "Freakshow" is IMHO super-duper! :-) To all of you =
silverchair-bashers, I challenge you to put aside your "they are a =
rip-off band" whining and give this album a full listen-to. I would be =
MOST surprised if you aren't impressed with this one, or at the very =
least don't enjoy at least one song from there..........
