Right on! Lemme bust out with my R&B version of She Likes Surprises:

"Lips and thighs abused by our eyes
Acting surprised that she likes it, baby
Chocolate cream, an amphetamine(like Dristan)
Torn at the seams, she's crying----ooooh yeah"

How many times must we praise Lance?
Well hey, the man is a mixmaster MC. The songs were great, but I like the
way he mixed the songs. You know, acoustic mixed in with the heavier stuff,
not going in generic order...
I'm also a new fan of the songs Cold Bitch, Fresh Deadly Roses(the song was
actually called 'Fresh Deadly Rosee', but this title reminded Chris of how I
used to stalk him years ago), Missing, and Flutter Girl. Thanx a bunch,
Lance!

Not that you really care, but I found myself another non-lister today who is
totally into SG. To understand why I posted that bit of info, you actually
have to live in my community, I guess. I'm in SoCali where there are way too
many trendies into SP, PJ, Bush, and whoever else has a 'buzz clip' of the
moment.(no caryn, I'm not dissing PJ) But it's pretty exciting to talk face
to face with another girl about Chris' voice, Kim's psycho-looking facade,
etc. It was just something that brightened my day...

The live Kickstand video can be found on the 'Alive in the SU' CD+ (yet
another reason to get a new pc Toni ;-). And not only do they list Seth's
page first, they misspelled the URL of the off. homepage (roctopolis), so
anyone who uses that URL won't get very far :)

He says: "People just don't realize how much fun it is to be depressed"
There's also a Johnny Cash interview in the same issue.
An exerpt:

Q: So, how did you end up covering Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage"?

Cash: At first I said, "That's not my kind of song." [Producer] Rick Rubin
said, "Listen to the lyrics. If we can get an arrangement you're comfortable
with, would you try it?" I said, "I'll try anything, but I don't think I'll
ever do this song." I heard the arrangement and it felt so comfortable that
it's one of my favorite songs.

Kathie asked:
>How about this one: anyone want to
>contribute their thoughts on the "sexiest" SG song?

ahhh... I've been waiting for this one :) I agree on the songs that have
been mentioned so far, but I'd like to add more: Hey Baby (does this count?
I know it's not written by SG), but this one's definitely sexy... and how
often does Chris sing the word 'baby' ?
Tighter and Tigher, Outshined, Overfloater and others (which have all been
mentioned already). These and other songs are mainly sexy, not only b/c of
Chris' voice, but b/c of the way he pronounces words. I think he has a very
unique way of pronouncing things, and he can make the most mundane words
sound sexy, eg. I just love the way he pronounces 'butterflies' (a la
Outshined), he could sing an entire song with only the words 'butterflies'
and I'd find it sexy :)

Subject: Sexiest song? CC/TREE/ME? A Question?

Hello out there in Soundgarden Land. Hope that life is treating you
well.

Sexiest Soundgarden Song? Wow, that is a hard one. I would have to say
that all of them are sexy. Either in the music, Chris,s voice(which is
always sexy), or the lyrics and their sexual references. But if I have
to pick one it would be All Your Lies because towards the end Chris is
kinda saying the words and not actually singing them. OHH BABY. ;)

Chris Cornell under a tree with me? Well he would be singing All Your
Lies. and when he finished Matt, Kim and Ben would come walking up and
instruments would magically appear. Chris would say, "Lets do it guys".
They would do a concert right there, just for me -how considerate of
them. They play every song they ever did. It would seem like the
neverending concert, and they never got tired. Afterwards I go home,
but they did promise to call me periodically to see if I wanted to go
hang out since I was such an awesome chick.

*A young girl can dream can't she*

Question: Does anyone know where I may be able to get my hands on
Loudest Love? I've looked where I live and on the computer and called
around every where and can't find it. If you know of a place I'd
appreciate it.

Subject: Sexy songs and scary rumours ;-)

Virtually everything Soundgarden have ever done sounds sexy to me - and it's
nothing to do with my appreciation of Mr Cornell either.

Yes, that voice is sex personified - and it would be even if it came from
the vocal chords of <substitute most unattractive person you can think of>.
How else can you explain how a song about a postal worker's revenge on
everyone can sound so damn filthy ;-) And let's not forget Matt's
contribution to Mailmain either.

In fact, for me it's the music and the sound of Soundgarden, not the
lyrics, that I find so thrilling. Personal interpretations apart, they don't
really write sexy lyric songs. A musical theorist would probably put it down
to the beat echoing heartbeats and..um.. other rhythmic things. I think I
even read somewhere that the reason people find electric guitars so sexy is
something to do with the frequency of certain notes releasing pheremones, so
it could be Kim I should be worshipping ;-)

That's not to say I don't find other things in Soundgarden's music -
Superunknown for me is one of their most joyfulsongs - for some reason it
makes me want to spin round in circles until I get dizzy and fall down (I'm
weird like that). None of their songs scare me - although Limo Wreck is
pretty spooky.

As for the rumour (scary or otherwise, depending on your point of view) that
Caryn would be taking over from Seth, I think it highlights the strong
feelings a lot of people have about somms and the website and what is going
to happen come graduation day.

I seem to remember a few months back Seth said he would reveal all in
January (calm down Shroom ;-)!). So, Seth............?

Seriously, of course it's up to Seth what and when he tells us, but don't
keep us waiting too long! A lot of us care about this list, maybe too much,
even when it goes through it's low points - and I hope I'm going to be
reading and contributing for a long time to come.

Subject: Melbourne Big Day Out, Jan 25 1997

Wow, it's all over - what a kick-arse festival!
If you don't want to hear about non-Soundgarden stuff then keep going down
to get to the Sg bits, I just thought I'd put in some stuff about the rest
of the BDO.

After turning up around 1:00, me and my brother Brett went off to the main
stage to check out Powderfinger, an Aussie band that I haven't heard much
of. They were pretty good I must say....pretty catchy tunes and a damn fine
singer. We walked further up the stage in anticipation of Fear Factory who
were coming up at 3:00 and we found ourselves deep within the pit. After
begrudgingly listening to Supergrass, with abuse flying over to the 2nd
stages direction many times, Fear Factory arrived to the stage to receive a
massive reception. I'm pretty sure there's some Fear Factory fans in the
list so I'll talk about it a bit. My 1st time in a mosh pit was interesting
I must say! As FF started into Demanufacture, the crowd was rampant and as
if trying to stand up straight wasn't hard enough, trying to get the crowd
surfers off you was definitely a challenge. Zero Signal and Self Bias
Resistor came and went - and they were totally awesome. A lot more
atmospheric than any other bands I saw during the day. After sweating
profusely and gasping for breath, I decided I must 'get out before I drown'
so headed out. Where the waves were a bit calmer I really enjoyed the set
which included Big God, Scumgrief, Self Immolation, Dog Day Sunrise, Martyr,
Replica and Scapegoat. But with the weather being over the 30 degree mark it
took a while to regain hydration and not feeling dizzy as hell. Later on I
met Dino Cazares (guitarist) in the stalls so that was cool!

You Am I and Patti Smith played and were OK, without saying that I liked
Patti Smith, and then the Prodigy came out. Wow what a show! Being someone
who really doesn't like 'techno' or 'The Prodigy' very much, they were
totally awesome and had the entire crowd moving all over the place. I think
the amps were ready to fall over the bass was vibrating them so much. Man
those singers are weird dudes, but very entertaining. Breathe, Firestarter
and Funky Shit were real good.

Well only the Offspring to go and then Soundgarden would be playing! Instead
of going to look at the Offspring we found ourselves a good spot to see
Soundgarden from, just outside of the 'crazy area' cause I couldn't be
bothered getting crushed in the pit again. The Offspring were alright and
were good with the crowd but we really couldn't wait until Soundgarden hit
the stage.

Soundgarden came out to a big reception from the crowd, which was totally
massive. Every direction you looked was just totally full of people, really
huge. Chris, Kim, Ben and Matt hit the stage and Chris greeted everyone, and
went on to start Spoonman. They were rocking from the start and looked to be
in incredible form. Chris' voice was top notch! For those fashion mongers,
Chris went for a black shirt with jeans, Kim with his famous Tool top and
black jeans, Matt, well couldn't see him that clearly, and Ben was wearing
this long sleeved creamy thing! Like a cardigan or something. Without
pausing for hardly a breath, they went through Searching With My Good Eye
Closed, Let Me Drown, My Wave and Pretty Noose. I've heard that Pretty Noose
is a big test on Chris' voice - well he sang it perfectly. Telling us that
this was the Big Day Over, Chris introduced what he said was a romantic song
- - and then hit into Ty Cobb, and the crowd went apeshit. Chris went off with
the 'Hard Headed Fuck You All' and threw his extended middle finger out to
the crowd repeatedly! After that the others left Chris alone for his BHS
solo. Before he started he told some people off for being noisy and then got
into it. it was great. Then Outshined came on, which was incredible - hey
what am I saying the whole thing was! Other songs they played in what I'm
pretty sure is the right order was Blow Up The Outside World, Search &
Destroy, Rusty Cage and Slaves & Bulldozers, which had an extended jam that
had 'Everyone's got something to hide except me and my monkey' tacked on to
the middle. I think that Blow Up The Outside World was the highlight, they
played it a touch slower but it sounded way heavier than the studio version.
Totally brilliant.

The band looked to be enjoying every minute of the show - I didn't see Ben
chuck any tantrums, he was just grooving along and having a good time, as
was the rest of the band. It was pure ecstasy when they were playing and it
would have been cool if they went longer but couldn't. We all cried out for
an encore but we were just greeted with fireworks, which did cap off a
really good day. Oh yeah, the last thing Chris did was say 'Don't take shit
from no-one' and just threw his microphone on the ground and left, it was
real cool!

It's a real shame that this was the last Big Day Out as it was the 1st one
I've been to and it was a really good day. But anyways, I'll be seeing
Soundgarden tomorrow in their own show and can't wait, it should be fuckin'
unreal.

Well anyway, should be going now - got some sleeping to do!

Bye Bye!

Sexy songs huh?

OK, don't crucify me for this one, but the SEXIEST SG song is not really a SG
song its a Temple of the Dog song. (OK gimme a break it is Chris' song,
lyrics, music, and for God sakes Matt is there!!!!!!!!!!)

And that song would be *All Night Thing*

This song qualifies across the board Music, Mood, Lyrics, Theme, Ambiance,
everything.

Not only is this the sexiest SG song ever, in my opinion, it is the sexiest
song EVER defying any constriction of time or artist. There has never been a
sexier song nor will there ever be.

And if you don't believe how sexy the potential actually is, you should see
the VIDEO I made for the song. (Get your mind out of the gutter, this is not
Rob Lowe territory). I would tell you the story but it's long and tedious. If
any of you are desperate to know Email me & I'll tell you.

Anyway, there is my vote.

P.S. If I had to pick a purly SG song it would be a toss up between Flutter

Subject: crybabies

Hello everyone,

I just read my Saturday edition of the somms digest and I had to go
vomit. Half of the damn digest is a bunch of f**king crybaby bullshit. I
know by posting this, I have just done the very thing that I am condemming.
I was under the impression that when I joined this list that I would be
reading and discussing Soundgarden related topics. Instead, I have found
that half of the posts are a bunch of personal attacks on others or a bunch
of (like I said before) crybabies who take offense to the pettiest of
remarks and then post to the list about how they were offended.

People, let's get one thing straight. Nobody (I assume) wants to
read a bunch of personal bullshit whining on the SOUNDGARDEN mailing list.
Who cares if someone asks "Hey man, does Sandrundgren have any more albums
besides Down on my Backside". or "Does anyone know where I can get that new
song "Burnin' in my Pants". In my humble opinion, if you don't like some of
these stupid (but still SG related) posts, then don't even give the f**king
person a reply.

And if Seth decides to make people like Shroomy or Caryn immune to
the threat of being thrown off of the list, well great because he is putting
the time in to run this list and the web page and he can do whatever the
hell he wants to do. If any of you are offended by this, then f**king
unsubscribe. It's that simple. I'm sure if Matt Cameron really is a member
of this list, he doesn't want to scroll through a bunch of crap-filled, non
SG related propoganda.

So please people, don't be a bunch of stupid assholes and post
meaningless bullshit on the list just so your little weiners can drip when
you show your mom "Look mom, I wrote that, they actually posted what I
wrote, Im controversial!" If you think before you post, then maybe it wont
take half an hour to download one edition of the digest. And if any of you
want to reply to this, DO NOT cry about it on the list. Send your reply to
me personally and maybe I will respond. If this post means that I will be
thrown off of the list, then I apologize but I had to do it. Hopefully all
of this bullshit will stop right here.

Thanks for reading this, but if you scrolled through this message without
reading it, then you are one of the intelligent ones.

Thank you,
Big Brother.

Hey List!

Because of all the interest in Soundgarden books. I've started a

- - The Sound Of Seattle (Author: Steve Blush)

- - Noise From The Underground - A Secret History Of Alternative Rock.
Text by Pat Blashill, pictures by Michael Lavine, and intro by Henry Rollins

I know there are tonz more :)

So...Please email me with any info on Books written about or including
info on Soundgarden :) Isnt there a book called New Metal Chrown and
Screaming Life and and and and and..... :)

Just a hunch...but it looks like Ty Cobb will be the next single.
Anyone curious as to how they'll edit it? I'll go nuts if the
offending words (fuck, motherfucker, shit) are beeped out! It has to
be edited somehow or american radio won't play it. Maybe the Chemical

I guess it does kinda look like Ty Cobb will be the next single. That's
the last song on the album I thought they would release as a single.
But I hope they do. Steve, I don't think they beep things out in
music anymore. There are more subtle ways of doing it than
inserting a highpitched, out of place tone. <BLEEEEP> They could
insert new lyrics. "Hard Headed, Not too tall" "Hard Headed,
basketball" What am I worried about? They will play it after 8pm
here anyway. Does anyone know if they have any "clean" versions of the
album, like they did for LTL?

Just wanted to let everyone know, I was not offended or anything by Seth's

list is one of the coolest things I seen (that could be b/c I haven't seen SG
live yet), and I love hearing about all these things I never would have known
otherwise.

Seth- I know you don't know me, but I think you're the s**t (not sure if I
can swear on here). If I do anything wrong, so sorry, I'll try to be good.

to everyone else- please try to get along. I'm a very upbeat person (funny,
and I still love SG, I think it's my release or something), and every message
board or chat room, there are so many hate things going on and harsh
arguments going on that no one talks about the band! I'm not trying to stick
my noise in anyone's business, but in my opinion, any SG fan is cool. Why?
'Cause they like SG!! Let's leave the worshipping of the band to each
other. And let's leave the bickering, arguing, and name-tossing to people
who have nothing better to do. (And for all those out there who like to
bicker, argue, and name-toss, no offense intended) I posted once, and I
immediately got a great, and friendly email from a very nice person. I
thought THAT was really cool.

"Remember that I love you, love you" -sung by CC

Ok, just to make this post more directly related to SG (sorry, Seth), I'll
tell you my opinion on SG's sexiest song... heh, heh, heh(copyright Shroom)-

There are a few songs that classify as sexy in my book (side note-anything
involving Chris Cornell is sexy) Here are my choices...(drum roll please)

"Beyond the Wheel" - whoa mama! This song makes me ache just listening to
it. 'Nuf said.

"Fresh Tendrils" - when Chris belts out with "Shame shame, throw yourself
away, give me little bits of more than I can take...etc", I go bonkers.

"Mailman" - Shroom said it best. It's so creepy it turns me on.

"Tighter and Tighter" - does anyone else agree? I don't know, but when Chris
says, "And I hope it's a sweet ride...warm and sweet...tight and deep...one
last sin...", I'm thinking I'd like to indulge his wish.

"Slaves and Bulldozers"- um, can we say wicked? I love the solo part.

"Blow up the Outside World"- the chorus of " I've given everything I need,
I'd give you everything I own...etc." puts chills up my spine. I think it's
the transaction from verse to chorus, from calm to blowing up.

SG has a certain dark, and sexy feel to their music anyway. Most of their
songs are sexy, that's one thing that attracts me to their music. They have
a very deep feeling in their music, beat, lyrics, etc.

ps. Another thing that attracts me to the band, is the fact that they are
all good friends, and have been for awhile. THEY LIKE EACH OTHER (hint, (not
a sexual thing), hint)

love and apologies for such a looooooooong post, lissa =) smile everyone!!

From: Mike Lecocke <lecocke@txdirect.net>
Subject: Sexy SG

Wow, when I first read this newest thread about sexy songs, I knew I
would have to put my two cents in. Here I go...be prepared, there are a
lot lof them.
*Let Me Drown-I've always liked this song, and the strange thing about
it is that once when I was listening to it, I thought to myself,"God I'd
like Chris to sing this to me." From then I've just thought of it as a
very sexy song.
*FOBD(video version)-I once read an interview where the writer asked
Chris what kind of music he has sex to (woah...). His response was,"Real
moody stuff." Well, I guess that kind of shed a new light on SG's more
moody stuff, like FOBD. Plus, his voice in it is so quiet, and then
loud, but the whole time it's so full of emotion...
*Mailman-I think this one is pretty much a given. The lyrics, the voice,
it's all so sexy. "I've seen how you give it, now I want to recieve." I
mean, come on...how blind do you have to be to not find that sexy? Then,
the big pause before he really starts screaming is also very sexy to me.
It's just, on the whole, a supersexy song.
*Fluttergirl-This one is not so much sexy as it is just raw. I mean, to
me this is the only time we get to really hear a different side of
Chris. To me, it's like he's protecting someone (which, in turn, shows
he really cares about that person - something I don't pick up much from
other songs.), and he seems vulnerable because of his caring. When I
listen to it, I feel almost like I shouldn't be...almost like it's Chris
talking in a private conversation...Then comes the feeling that he's
talking to me, which is really personal and then very sexy...
*Kickstand (live version on TDITTL single)-This one REALLY gets me. In
this version, Chris' voice is just so husky-it's so heavy. I love it
this way. Kickstand is a pretty sexy song anyway, but in this version
his voice is just so good. It's completely erotic.
SWMGEC-The line "If I took you for a ride, would you take it wrong, or
would you make it right" has always been very sexy to me. Maybe it's
just the mental picture I get in my perverted little head, but I really
like it. Also, I love it when his voice gets really high at the end when
he's singing "Is it to the sky". He just seems so out of control-very
sexy to me.
*Overfloater-Everything about this song is sexy to me. First the music
at the beginning, then the lyrics. In my opinion, it's about a really
drunken experience. The first line puts a vision in my head, and he
seems so laid back in it, so...not stoned, but relaxed. "Close the door
and pull the shades and climb the walls" is pretty damn sexy to me. It's
like a trip, really...it's so quiet and sedate and it just makes you
close your eyes. Then "I'm on the wire...over the pretense" breaks out
and you can just see him struggling to break out of that unconscious
state. The he falls back into it with "breathe and take it and gently
blow it out(?!)" and he again seems so laid back. It's just a really
moody song, which makes it incredibly sexy to me.
Ok, that's all I can think of now. I hope I made some sense: I think
that what a person finds sexy is really personal. Oh well, now you know.
Byebye, Margret. :)
ps-Smile, by PJ is REALLY sexy. The music is so sexy. It puts ALL kinds
of crazy little thoughts in my head that only members of the CCHB (ask
Shroom if you're not sure) could appreciate.

Is it true that the version of Room a Thousand Years Wide on the
RTYW/HIV Baby single doesn't have the sax at the end? That's a great song
but the sax does kinda break the mood of the song.

I could not put this better myself. I am a 'newbie' but I've been lurking
for ages and have also read the archives, so I think 'odd' doesn't even
cover it.

Seth, you're doing a super terrific job, but I haven't felt very welcomed.
Your post didn't exactly help.

I think Seth's whole view point should be turned on its head. 'Oldies' know
the ropes, and one would expect a certain type of contribution from them,
simply because they know better. On the other hand, us 'newbies' are the
ones that deserve tolerance, because of our inexperience. We deserve
patience. Don't like what you read from us? Ignore it.

Hesistant is right. When I decided to make this post I was down right
petrified, but someone's got to. I know there must be other lurkers like me,
who are apprehensive about posting. So, I accept that if I'm making this
post on their behalf, that I'll take the flames.

Subject: The way it is and the way it will be
From: seth <saperl@MIT.EDU>

I. The way it is now

You've heard my statement on the way I treat new people and the way I
treat old people on the list. I will not change that. We were all new
people once upon a time, and we managed to get where we are now. It's
really simple: if you post about Soundgarden, no problem. That's all
there is to it. It's a courtesy to those of us who have been reading
daily for a long time to come to the discussion table having at least
made some attempt to educate yourself via the websites and the list
archive. It's a courtesy to take note of how other people on the list
post: do we use ALL CAPS? It's a courtesy to re-read your message
before you send it: does it mention SG in any significant way or is it
a personal flame or remark about some other band? Those people who
have sent countless messages about Soundgarden to the list are
entitled once in a while to be off-topic, which is my idea of
"immunity." Quite frankly, if you think I'm unfair, you have two
options: you can play by the rules until I give up the list or you can
unsubscribe. I would appreciate further opinions on this matter being
sent to me privately.

II. The way it will be

There are rumors flying about what will happen to the list when I
graduate in May. I know some of you would like me to stick around and
some of you would like me to get off my high horse and leave you
alone. It is most likely that I will step down as listadmin when I
leave MIT - my immediate plans are to go to Europe for a month and
after that I'm unsure. I have not made *any* decision about a
replacement listadmin. In fact, if for some reason you are interested
in running the list, contact me privately. Ideally, someone will come
out of the woodwork who has access to Listserv or Majordomo, so
subbing and unsubbing will be automated. Any "rules" that may exist in
the future are the responsibility of whoever takes over. Any rules
that I have made become invalid as soon as I leave.

On a related note, the future of the Unofficial Soundgarden Homepage
is also undecided. My attitude changes every day: one day I feel like
I've had enough of it and the next day I think that wherever I go I
will have to have Net access and I'd like to keep maintaining it. More
on this later...

Subject: more clarity

(note: if you weren't on this list during the saga in question, i could
care less about your feelings or your comments. you *really* have no
business interfering in this discussion because it simply doesn't concern you.)

when i rejoined somms, i made a consicious decision to simply rejoin,
quietly and without ceremony. my wish was to put everything that had
happened behind and just move on. i thought it was best for the list and
the community if the arguments were left behind and if i didn't call
attention to them, thus stirring up a controversy that was far better (imo)
left dead. if you will notice, i am not the one trying to rekindle
discussion. i have never even made reference to it.

the fact of the matter is, many words flew from many, many, many parties
during the heat of the moment, and it is not just up to *me* to apologize.
in fact, i would not even ask for an apology from anyone, nor am i doing so
now. my point is, if apologies are needed, they are needed from the people
who are 'demanding' or expecting them now to me as much as they think they
are entitled to them themselves. no one was right, everyone was wrong (i'm
speaking about those who got involved, and you will notice i include
myself), and there are always two sides to every story.

the only apology i will issue is to the list as a whole for not taking the
affair to private email once it began to get heated, and/or for not dropping
it completely. and to two people who wrote to me privately when i had been
stabbed in the heart repeatedly, who were trying to be compassionate and i
just didn't read it that way at the time (you know who you are, i hope).

in any event, there will be no further comment from me in this public forum
regarding this situation. i really have nothing else to add so there's no
point in writing to me privately, but of course that option is always
available to you. i don't think it serves the list and the community to
continue to discuss this, personally.

regarding future list plans, i don't know how much clearer i can be: I am
not going to be the listadmin, even if i were asked. snide public comments
about how 'scary' that thought would be are really pointless, aren't they,
because seth and i have never even discussed it (until someone wrote to him
telling him that they 'knew' that that was going to happen).

and personally, i think you are all being selfish. seth is about to
graduate university, he has a lot more intense questions in his mind than
the future of this list. what difference does it make what he's going to
do? I don't think we are entitled to pressure him or hound him for a
decision now, or in the future, nor do i see what difference it makes. if
you don't like the new listadmin, unsub and start your own list. if you do,
then there's no issue. and if the list dies, so what? it would hardly be
the first list to end and life will go on, you will write to the friends you
have made on this list, maybe some day there will be another soundgarden
list and no, it will NOT be somms. but that's life.

seth, you have my heartfelt gratitude for creating this forum, and no matter
what decision you choose to make, i for one honor and respect and accept it,
whatever it may be, and hope that life's path takes you where you want to go.

Taylor, that's exactly why I made my post about Seth's post to the list
rather than privately. It was an attempt to open up discussion about
something that I know for a fact many of the people on this list have
feelings about. I'm glad that it did that - and for all the positive
feedback I've gotten for it privately. Each and every one of us are
important to this list, and the more of us who post (appropriately of
course) the better as far as I'm concerned.

My bid for sexiest song: I agree with US Deb, Mailman definitely does it
for me. I see this as one of Chris' most darkly sexual songs. I know we
discussed the meaning of this song months ago, but I still don't think
its about a postal worker. More like a stalker: "I've seen how you give
it, now I want to receive", "I'm riding you all the way" I could do a
whole interpretation, but I think I'll hold off on that (aw-w-w)

Whose personality do I identify with? Definitely Chris. I like (I could
say prefer) to spend time alone, always have, and I'm a deeply emotional
person. His lyrics always speak right to my soul, which is also the
reason he's my favorite member of the band.

Shroom you are hearing it just like I am! In fact, that whole verse
sounds sarcastic to me. Since I see this as a stalker song, I see this
verse as the one where he gets her and has his way with her (isn't that a
delicate way of saying it) and then rubs it in that now she'll always
remember him - that he has indelibly changed her future which can never
be "clean" now: "A simple reminder of what you won't see - a future so
holy without me". Funny, in music (and in fantasy) I find this angry,
sarcastic love a turn-on too, but not in real life <shrug>.
