I have a Cornell interview which I have yet to email to seth, but this is
what chris says about touring in the future:

"We have a lot of other tour offers but I'm not sure how long I wanna do it.
We could do another US tour, we might do some more European shows, we're
talking about South America. We don't wanna make the mistake that we made
before where we commit to more touring than we can mentally deal with, so
we're taking it one step at a time."

Of course, he said 'we could', so it's not definite. If you want to read the
rest of the interview, wait until seth gets it on the site.

MIGHTY DRAWLS
(Or How Chris Got His Voice Back)

> your hands, but nothing is biting, yet. Chris starts singing a little
> song, oh, your favorite SG song goes here, and it puts a smile on your
> face. .......You finish the story...... (let you imagination go wild!!)
>
He then puts his pole down(fishing pole, you perverts) as the fish are
still not biting. He sings the first verse to "Like Suicide", picks up his
banjo and plays the tune while singing. Except now the song is about dead
underwater animals instead of a dead bird. All of a sudden, the earth shakes
and the lake water ripples into giant waves.
Ursula, the sea witch(yeah, from 'The Little Mermaid') comes out of the
water and says, "So, you sing about wishing underwater animals dead, hm?
I'll take away your voice so you'll never sing again! With that, she
magically brought his voice out of him and brought it into a jagged pebble
hanging about her neck. With a menacing laugh, she said, "If you want your
voice back, bring me the underwear of my archenemy, Mighty Drawls. It has
magical powers that will help me rule the world!"
I saw that Chris looked very sad, and said, "Don't worry, my beautiful
one, I know that Mighty Drawls will help you in your hour of need."
So we set out to Ben and Kim's World-O-Music, and I found some drums in
the shop. I started beating a particular rhythm on the drums...
And lo, and behold! Look there in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane!
No, it's Mighty Drawls!
"I heard your distress call on those Tama drums", said Mr. Drawls. "How
may I help you?"
"My friend Chris here lost his voice to the sea witch," I said. "You've
got to help him get it back, quick!"
So with that, we went back to the lake, and there was Ursula, waiting.
"I could feel the power of your drawers emanating from the sky," she
laughed, wickedly. "Give me your drawers or you or your friends will never
see the light of day again!"
"Never, you bitch! You'll be no match for my elastic whips!" With
that, Mighty Drawls, golden-haired god that he is, shot Ursula with the
whips, but she retaliated against him.
"Oh yeah, hot shot? Why don't you take this?" And she started to play
bad music out of her butt. First it was Bush, then it was Hootie And The
Blowfish. But Mightly Drawls went into complete agony when she played Paula
Abdul and Vanilla Ice.
Through his pain, Matt said through his teeth, "Bad music...must fight
it...must show her...royal jewels!" Then with some kind of inner strength,
came out of his agony and flashed her...
     "Aaaahhhhh! I'm melting...I'm melting...what a cruel, cruel world!
Ursula turned into an oily black mass into the lake as she disappeared,
never to be heard from again.
"She was no match for my Calvin Kleins" said Mighty Drawls, proudly.
So Chris did get his voice back, and eventually became a famous
vocalist. Later he met with a golden-haired man who became the drummer of
his band. But one day, as I was backstage at a recent concert, Chris saw the
elastic tops of this guy's underwear and said, "Hey, those Calvin Kleins sure
do look familiar..."

Thanks lee for the review my computer has been screwed for the last week
so this is a bit late (and we [my brother and I] missed the somms meet).
Soundgarden of course went off but crowd response was lacking in the
second back row but of course me and my bro went totally feral and both
worked our necks jumpin round for "Outshined" (highlight of the show).
Oh yeah Lee "Head Down" was also in the encore....which makes 3 songs.
My only complaints about the show were (of no fault of SG) the seats (its
just not the same in the 2nd back row) and the security dude near the
dunnies who wouldn't let us in cause our stamp was wrong way round (trying
to transfer it doesn't work), and also that fat dude who kept comin on
stage to pick up the mic and screw around with the gear.

A friend of mine in the UK just told me something (emailed to be exact); he
was searching for rare Sonic Youth stuff in a record store, when he came
across some SG promo-singles: PN, BiMH, BUTOW and...... Ty Cobb. Now I
always thought promos meant, that song would be released as a single, but Ty
Cobb?? I seriously doubt the record company would be happy about that and
'hard headed *beep* you all' doesn't have a great ring to it. Of course we
all wouldn't mind (Ty Cobb, not the beeping), but maybe it's not meant to be
played on radio or mtv; maybe they're just releasing it as another limited
edition thing.... just thought I'd share that with you....

>i just want to add something in real quick with people finding personal
>meaning in Soundgarden's lyrics....... after reading The Making of
>Superunknown book, 'The Day I Tried to Live" just became MY song.

The same thing happened to me when I read the quote on 'Let me Drown'. I
never payed too much attention to that song, but after reading Chris' and
Kim's quotes on that song, it has a whole new meaning to me. I never really
thought of the song that way (wanting to crawl back into your mother's
womb), and that interpretation just blew me away...
I have to agree with Kim, when he said that those were the best lyrics ever
written (well, one of the best).

Okay I can relate to Chris because we have the same birth sign. Most
Cancer are loners, home bodies, prefer the company of a few close friends,
loyal to the people in our life's tht we love and hold dear, shy, and
usually creative (some more than other - i.e., Chris has a huge creative
force where mine borders on pathetic).

But which member would I like to be like - MMmmmm would it be cute and
lovable like Matt, intelligent as Kim, or out going, rude, self assured,
creative, and a true bad ass like "BEN". Yeah that's the ticket - "BEN"

I think that it is a very good song.

On a side note, those of you who have been wondering about the reality of

Barrett Martin (the drummer for the Trees and Mad Season) said that the next
Mad Season album will be a double album, and that there has been work done on
the album over the past six months. He said that there are lots of different

well the new Guitar World issue has more than a few soundgarden related bits,
and since there are a lot of guitarists on here, thought i would mention.
the best thing would have to be the reader's mail section where people
replied to the infamous Bush interview, and one reader wrote a VERY good,
intelligent letter bashing Bush and praising Soundgarden, but the best part
is the little cartoon the guitar world people included which is a picture of
Kim Thayil wearing a 'bush sucks' shirt and he's taking a piss on a bush
(shrub). other Kim stuff, in the Reader's Poll (which i just do not agree
with on a lot of stuff) had him #4 under the "Best Alternative Guitarist"
(yippee) and "best Hard ROck/Metal Guitarist". and the best in my opinion ,
kim's Pretty Noose solo was voted as the second best solo of the year and has
a short lesson on how to play it. Also there is a full two page ad for

Ha! It's definitely not the first time they've done endorsements for
musical equipment. Mattster's got all kind of backing from people (Al would
be much more informed about blondie's drum stuff ;-). I've got two favorite
ads with God... ummm... Chris in them. The first is from Peavey (BMF era)...
it's got Kim sitting on an amp holding his guitar, and Ben & Chris are
sitting on the floor on either side of him. I loved this ad *so* much that I
wrote to Peavey to get the full size poster of it. It's still hanging on my
wall (what a total shocker). That also reminds me of my stupid ex-boyfriend
David who said "I wonder why Matt wasn't in the picture?" :::smack smack
smack::: Do I know how to pick them, or what?!? Anyway, the second ad was
more recent ('95), and for a pedal - "Cry Baby 535." (Batteries not
included.) Heheheh... Chris, Kim & Ben are all in it... but Chris is
balancing himself on the pedal... and I think it's too funny. My sense of
humor though... go figure. Anyone who wants some *excellent* pictures of
Chris & Kim should backorder Alternative Guitar, issue 2. Very luscious
stuff, kiddies. Makes you just want to eat Chris all up... and there's a
picture of Kim wearing a woman's blouse that says "Diet Grrrrrl." And might
I add here that the blouse is OFF Kim's shoulders and showing the top part of
his chest. The guy is as smooooooth as Chris, I kid you not. He's *not* a
hairy guy. ;-) Oh, sorry. I think I'll go and drool over the HUGE Rusty
Cage poster I finally got the other day. Heheheh... obsess much, Shroomy?

Motorvision is your best bet if you want something with the present line
up. Great live shots and the funniest chat from the band..

I have the 4ft X 5ft DOTU release poster from when the album was first
released & Ty Cobb *IS* the last single mentioned on the poster (PN, BIMH,
BUTOW, & Ty Cobb). Hhhhmmmmm????? Hey the Chili Peppers kinda did it with
"Aeroplane" maybe the SG boys will release it just to cause a stir for Tipper
Gor (Why don't they say take your vitamins, be a nice person?????? (c: )

not to plug my latest contributions to seth's page, but i've been
collecting these rare early posters lately and he's finally got the scans
up (not a diss, sweetie) and i'd urge sg historians to go take a look. i
love the 'vogue' poster, it's got the same multi-armed indian goddess that
was on the 92 winter tour shirts (gotta get that one of these days...), as
well as a poster for a bill with Malfunkshun (hey SHROOM)...

the record fair this past weekend turned up some serious goodies, a cool
poster from a show at the Central where sg opened for Faith No More, and a
promise that the way-cool poster from the show where sg opened for Redd
Kross will finally be available to me at the NEXT show... and of course,
there is the AiC poster i picked up, not because i'm an AiC fan by any
stretch of the imagination, but because on the bill, opening for AiC was a
little-known band called -- Mookie Blaylock. ;-) (don't ask how much it
cost... the dealer just took it out as soon as i showed up and put it to
the side, knowning i was going to buy it *sigh*)...

i was looking at this page at work the other day and laughed so hard i
attracted various co-workers, including our VP of Technology, who
especially appreciated shroom's disclaimer. of course, i had to answer
the question 'and who is chris cornell exactly?....' (cut to me gesturing
wildly to the various photos surrounding my desk). hey, even my MOTHER
knows who chris cornell is...

Well I've been wondering, how many people have seen the two PN singles
that are out there. And where can I pick up a BIMH single. I looked
pretty cool. And I saw a album the other day that has Chris soloing with
his songs for Ozzy. It was 30 bucks! I saw a 12" single of DIT2L with a
etched back. (Very cool!) How limited is the limited addition DOTU vinyl?
And where and how much are those cool 7" singles SG had out (both green
and black)

Subject: Kim interview

Hey guys it's me again mag. queen... Anyway, the Feb. issue of
AP(Alternative Press) has a Kim interview regarding his feelings on
fans and their obsessions. It's pretty insightful as to what the band
in general thinks of their following. Excerpt:

Q: Saturday Night Live ran a Star Trek-conventions sketch in which
William Shatner tells the trekkies to "Get a life". What do you think
of obsessed Soundgarden fans, the ones who own soundboard recordings
of all your German dates and have every poster you ever printed?

Kim: That's pretty trippy. I really dont understand that kind of
obsessive behavior. (hey kim..we definately do!) When I was younger
I had every Kiss album. I knew all the songs in order, from side one
to the end of side two [of every album]. But I didnt go out and buy
every Kiss poster, every Kiss t-shit. I really dont understand that
kind of behavior. (he really DOESNT understand that kind of
behavior?) I do understand being a collector. I collect indie
records and comic books, but I dont feel like I'm that obsessed.

also he says that he thinks their presence is unapproachable maybe
because..."Chris is 6'2, Ben is 6'4 and Matt and I are 6'. Matt 6'.
When I met him he did not look 6' at all, maybe 5'10 or 5'11 and as
for Ben 6'4, he didnt seem that tall either. To my great disapointment
I didnt get to meet Chris so....6'2 sounds right.

Well just thought I would share that with you all....till we chat again.

Terri..... Oh yeah US mag..yes another mag, has a quote from Mr. C
which was in details two months ago, it's on the last page. It says
something (sorry dont have it in front of me) about depression can be
fun....
