Remember those comments by Gavin Rossdale of Bush saying that Soundgarden
was "a terrible heavy rock band"? Apparently, Rossdale did not say this;
it was Nigel Pulsford according to a retraction in the latest issue of
Guitar magazine (the one with the 100 greatest guitarists of all time).

Yeah, I noticed that Chris looked a little skinnier, too. Maybe it was just
the shirt he was wearing that made him look thinner, or he has lost
weight...who knows? He still looked pretty good...

I used to be real concerned about the whole Chris losing weight thing but
not anymore. In the Fairfax, Virginia tape, Chris looks great. He doesn't
look anorexic etc. He looks fit. And that tape was from a recent show
(only a couple of months back). So I think we can all relax.

Hey! What the fuck's this I'm hearing about an Australian Tour Package???
For some reaon or another the SOMMS digests for Wednesday and Thursday didn't
find their way to my account so I think I've missed something here, yeah?

I've seen a Tool 'Undertow' Australian Tour Edition which a friend has... (any
of the SOMMS Tool fans got it?) I have a Monster Magnet Tour Edition of
'Dopes To Infinity' which is real cool and a limited edition version of
Tumbleweed's latest opus 'Return To Earth' with a bonus 10 track CD... [Yep,
I got hold of it Carolyn - what d'ya think of it?] Why are the Australian's so
bloody generous???? :) Christ, it's not fair!!!

Hello all out there in the wonderful cyber-SG nation, missed you all
emmensly during the break. I really felt as though my life had taken a decided
downturn and thought of all of you so much I could hardly bear it. Well, maybe
that's embellishing it just a bit.

Since I missed the Christmas posts I was just wondering what wonderfull
SG stuff people were luck enough to get from a loved one, or from themselves
for chrismas. I blessed myself with finally buying Stolen Prayers and Fresh
Deadly Rarities, which I am throughly impressed with. However the best SG
related gift came from my mother, kinda. I asked her to have my sighned BiMH
poster from Chicago framed, and it looks awsome. Even though I knew it was
coming it pretty much kicked ass.

Well send me you worst, best, or any presents, I just wanna know who

And I guess you could add about Bush's comments about Soundgarden that the
band 'took it back' of what they said saying it was said in jest or something
and it really 'does not reflect the band's true opinion'. This should have
died along time ago, but this seems important that all the bush sux/bush is

even less smart..

well from sg's Pretty Noose grammy nomination, i want to just add my opinion
that the Grammy's are the least stuck on commercialism of the 'big' music

I have a subscription to gee-tar world and when I saw the apology I just
laughed. it still pisses me off that they would say things like that
because they suck compared to Soundgarden. And it makes it sound like
thier a better band. When there just a couple of English pretty boys.

I think that with the new c,d, out they couldn't handle the mass hate
coming from Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden fans. And they
took it back to promote there c.d.

I hope the next b-sides are Soundgarden originals like Christi also, but I
also love the cover songs they've done in the past (Come Together, Girl U
Want, Into the Void, etc.). So why don't we start a new thread on the list
of proposed future cover songs. I'll try to keep a list of all the songs
posted, and maybe we can get a Somms top 10 list formed. Chris suggested
that fans send in cover song suggestions to the band on a radio show
interview that I heard, so maybe we can send our list to the band.

I'm not really surprised at the reaction to the Chris Cornell feature in
Details.

Jonathan Gold's often nauseatingly sycophantic writing style could lead all
but the most devoted Soundgarden fan to dismiss Chris as a pretty boy poseur
and all-out wuss.

True, Chris agreed to pose, gloweringly and gorgeously, on that rock in his
designer threads, but..."cut off on one side by the image makers, on the
other by the vastness of the sea, for the first time this week Chris seems
free, alone, alive." Puhleese!

And what about the rather alarming scenario involving Chris trying on
designer leathers, surrounded by 'proto grunge divas' , Bach lute suites,
angelic children and thimble sized mugs of mineral water!?!! Arrgghhhhh!!!
It was probably just Chris trying on a bunch of clothes while his wife and a
few friends sat around, but thanks to Gold it just sounds *so* pretentious.

Whether or not you agree with Gold when he says Chris is almost
biochemically engineered to be a rock star, he is certainly trying to
portray him as one in the worst sense.

Having said that, I liked the stuff about him and Susan. Awwwww :-)

The Reading Festival happens in Europe(in London, I guess) and it's similar
to Lollapalooza, except they have many more bands that are little more
diverse than Lolla's bands.

RoseeMisst

for pronunciation's sake, it's not REED-ing but RED-ing.

Hey Soundgarden freaks. I'm new to this thing so somebody give me
some info please. How it works yadda yadda... Anyway I was reading some
of the messages and I noticed that some of you don't know what SOMMS
stands for. It's actually the name of a rare b-sides album that was
released with the first edition of the Badmotorfinger album. SOMMS
stands for satan oscilate my metalic sonatas which is a palendrome(read
it backwards). Anyway that's my SG tidbit for the day. Later.

Thanks to those for your earlier opinions on the BUTOW single. All I really
want is the Moby remix anyway--I'm also a Moby fan. I guess I won't spend my
chump change for BUTOW if it's supposedly that bad.

I think that's an excellent idea. What better people to ask than the fans to
suggest songs! From a recent post, someone said that they heard "Christi" at
the Reading Festival.
As for the songs "Sounds Like Days", "Anxious", "Waiting For the Sun", "Ocean
Front", "Your Curse", and "Cleaning My Gun"--never heard of 'em. As for
their cover of "Search And Destroy", that should be a good one, especially
with Kim's talents. Ever hear the Chili Peppers' version of this song?
I guess I could also suggest Karaoke, the acoustic version of Like Suicide,
Birth Ritual, Blind Dogs, and Heretic.
Where exactly would we send these requests? There's rumor that Matt reads
posts on occasion, but as for the rest of the band, I don't know.

I know this has already been talked about for awhile, but I would like
to know where I can see this picture of Matt, th we've all been talking
about. I know someone has probably already said where it can be seen,
but I, of course didn't catch on. So if someone could tell me I'd
appreciate it. Thanks.

I am listening to the MOST amazing SG set I've ever heard. CC is totally
on! Anyone that saw that show is soooo lucky!!!!! When he said that quote,
I immediately stood up! :-) hehe and started saluting :-) That was just the
most amazing version of "Beyond the Wheel" I've ever heard. EVER! And I
was at the Toronto show where the B-side version was recorded! Jesus Christ
Pose (the final song) is right up there to...oh my god, I gotta make a .wav
of this :-) If you listen to the power, range and control of CC's voice
(and the lyrical and musical kaos) in these two songs...you can totally
understand why I love this band. It sums everything up.

The actual reason I was posting...sorry, for the tangent :-)

I've been listening to SG's 1996 headline shows and I can't figure out the
music they play at the END of the show. Is there anybody out there that
knows who or what it is? All I can think of is Steve Howe. But I don't
know acoustic guitar music at all. hehe..is there anyone die hard enough to
actually care? :-)

Well any of the people that recieved the recent package from KOTS probably
noticed a note about 'Artists for a Hate-Free America' and they just released
some info on the album. It doesn't feature any of the bands that founded it
like SOUNDGARDEN and pearl jam and luscious jackson but *does* feature Hiro
Yamamoto's band Truly..
