For those of you who are still interested in the Australian tour packages
and don't want to bother Carolyn, Georgia etc. who have their hands full
already :), you can now pre-order this package from IGG.

They have a pre-order discount, so if you order 'Down Under on the Upside'
before Jan.12th they'll only charge you $12.59 (regular price: $13.99). Both
these prices seem quite reasonable, considering you're getting 2 CDs.

Anyway, help me out guys:

"Throw yourself away
Give me little bits of,
more than I can take
if it sits upon your tounge
or naked in your eyes
give me little bits of,
more than I can try."

Does anyone know this lyric? It isn't any Soundgarden song I've ever heard
but I don't have them all. I've been wracking my brain but I just don't
know (even thought it seems familiar). It kinda sounds like a Tool song
I've heard, dee dee?

Any input would be appreciated.

Subject: Spin Online, Moby, and Soundgarden

I was searching through Spin Online last night when I found something
very interesting. Last month, Julia Chaplin of Spin magazine interviewed
Moby and this is what he had to say (this is Soundgarden related):

- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spin: Why the change? (referring to the change from Moby's techno style
in the past to the more hard rock or punk styles on his new album "Animal
Rights")

Moby: I guess over time I lost interest in electronic dance music.
Soundgarden is one of my favorites of the old school Seattle sound. I
re-mixed three versions of their song "Dusty". One is a experimental
jungle mix, one is a Led Zeppelin version and one is a slow sad blues mix
that was Chris Cornell's favorite. He went back and played additional
guitar on it and now its a new song.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did anyone know about there being 3 different versions of Dusty? This is
news to me. So what do the rest of you think about this? Comments welcome.

Hey List!

Ok, I have one video mailer and one video tape left...I also have everything
set up to do a dub. So......

I've decided to join the list people who've done a Somms contests. Can you
say bored? hehe :-) This one is a little different than the send your name
in variety (/me waves to no. cal)...you're gonna work for this one :-)

What you win:

A copy of the Fairfax, VA 11/20/96 video sent to your home tomorrow afternoon.

The Contest:

Simply name the band, the album title and the song whose lyrics are below.
Easy huh? But there is one small catch, I also want to know the name of the
studio the song was recorded in. It's easy if you think about it. Yeah,
this is real tough for 95% of you...but well worth what the winner will be
paying. Zip! Someone will win this...

Lyric:

"Some friends of mine just the other night
went to hear this cool cat blow
They said he sang so good that the roof fell in
and he didnt even stop the show
 They don't remember the place,
 but they remember the face...."

Bonus Question (for ties...be creative, these are hard...I'll give credit
for originality)

What month and year was this album released? A valid (but trick) question
if you know the answer.

The album above was the *most* anticipated album when it was released. It
was HUGE! in terms of sales and critical praise. Another band released
their album the same day. It was a huge follow up to one of the most
successful Metal albums ever. The album, um...sucked...was a major critical
and sales disappointment and so began the bands downhill slide. They were
buttrock before the term buttrock was invented. Name the band and the album.

Rules:

none really...although, .you must enter before I wake up tomorrow afternoon
;-) That will give digest people time to enter.

Good Luck!

Oh yes, the BUTOW single. I got that and... I was disappointed. The
moby remix of Dusty was the only thing in the package worth the money.
The rest (two live tracks and that "...spacejam" travesty) weren't at all
awe-inspiring. I hate live tracks on singles anyway, IMO its what bands
do when they can't think of any proper songs to put on a single, and as
for that "...spacejam", well, I never thought I'd ever dislike a song by
Soundgarden, but that was awful!! It sounded like they were tuning their
instruments before recording something - and they had a cheek to put it
on a CD for #4.99 and sell it to their fans. Pah!!

Anyway, enough of that, I've recently acquired the "Spoonman",
"Outshined" and "Flower" singles I've been looking for for ages just for
the bonus tracks, and they're all good.

Lastly, Haooy New Year to all you sommsters - and I hope y'all had good

To any other sommsters who are wondering what's on this poster, it's the
same shot of the band that appeared on the cover of Rip last summer.

hmmm.... but I assume if someone contended this, it would have nothing to do
with their Grammy nomination, since they've been getting nominations with
every album (except LTL) since UMOK. Although I agree with Lance on what the
Grammys represent, I always found it strange that they first nominated SG
when they weren't exactly 'popular'. Of course they most probably did it to
seem 'cutting edge'......."hey look everyone, we've nominated a band on an
indepedent label.... we're not commercial after all" :)

Carolyn wrote:

oh dear..... I really didn't want to post that IGG thing actually, 'cos I
knew something like this might happen, but I also know there are a lot of
people out there, who don't have the $40 to spend on the tour package. I
hope that none (or hardly any) of the sommsters on Carolyn's or Georgia's
list will ditch them in favor of a mail order company. I've had a lot of
people ask me about IGG, and even if some of you change your mind and decide
to order from them, I don't think IGG has *that* many copies of the tour
package, since they claim it to be 'limited edition' and there are about a
million other people out there that get the IGG update.

One last thing: the tour package apparantly isn't listed on their homepage.
I didn't know this, since I only get their e-mailed lists, so if you want to
order the package, don't bother going to their website; just e-mail them
(igg@igg.com)

The price they're asking for is *extremely* low though..... does anyone
remember how much bmf/somms first cost when it came out?
