Wellwell...what a superficial message. You just can't say that!! I mean...he is
a GREAT guitarist with very weird solos and gread riffs and his way to play has
a soul!!! But you never can say he's the best of the world - I always hated
when someone claimed someone is the best guitarist - cause it's not true!!
There are good tappers, good solo-players, hispeed-scale-players, whammy-bar
gods and so on....do you know what I mean?
so...just cause the music rulez doesn't mean the guitarist is the best...think
about it! ;)

Yeahyeah. :)
Why Grohl? I mean - I've read the biography and it said Kurt always wanted to
become a big rockstar (he dreamed of it as a child - I don't remember if he
still dreamed of it as an grownup - but I remember he said "We wanna become
BIG" and such stuff) and as far as I remember, Novoselic has been the

I actually found this promotion pack while browsing the web today, in Esprit

out as well. So either there are *a lot* of SG fans on the net (who aren't
on the list I presume) or there are a lot of people buying it, who'll end up
selling it for triple the price in two months :)

Esprit wanted 29 US$ for it so I assume it's going to cost a little more
than 30$(Aust) if that's how much you pay for a regular CD :)
and please keep in mind, that A&M's definition of 'unreleased' can be
different from ours..... I'd like to believe we'll be getting some studio
tracks here, but I also remember that when the Aust 'butow' single came out,
there was a little sticker on the cover claiming 'Gun' and 'Get on the
Snake' (both live) were previously unreleased, just b/c it had never been on
an official release before. So I really hope they won't be putting a bunch
of stuff from LTL or MV on the bonus CD...... or tracks that were previously
unreleased....in Australia (b-sides like 'She's a Politician' etc)

In response to Drawing Flies being about "masterbating". I disagree. I think
he's talking about the process he goes through to write a song & the subject
matter that seems to come out on the page.

Why do I think this the minions are shouting.

Well, I start with the line "Fire the loaded mental cannon onto the page" and
I work backwards from there. Being a writer by trade & by hobby, a lot of his
lines ring true to the process.

"Sitting here like univited company, "wallowing" in my own obscenity I share
a cigarette with negativity" (A lot of CC's lyrics are less than happy.Anyone
read the lyrics to 'Zero Chance' lately)

"Bathed in perspiration drowned my enemies. Used my inspiration for a
guillotine" (Another writing reference)

"I said hey what you yelling about conditions, permission, mirrored
self-affliction..... sadist's, co-addiction, perfect analogies..... " (I
believe here he is mimmicking or taunting what the press and other peoples
response to his lyrics & what they mean. We all know he hates to field those
questions)

"Leaning on the pedistal that holds my self denial. Firing the pistol that
shoots my holy pride" ( I also believe that these lines are metaphors to the
mental process that he goes through to write & the subjects he puts down on
paper.)

Hell, who knows I could be completely wrong. I'm the only person in the world
who thinks 'Burden in my Hand' is about the secret nuclear testing in the
Utah & Nevada desert in th 1950's (The truth is lying beneath the river bed.
Follow me into the desert). So I could be completely fucked up. But hey, you
all know it wouldn't be the first time.

Discussing Nirvana on this list is inappropriate, unless it is

How goes it mon,

Someone said something like why so many pic's of Chris only in the
calender? Well, dear this is show biz.., with bands, since the singer is the
"voice of the band" and if he is cute, they will exploit him more than the
rest of the band. Dont worry less than 1 out of 100,000 people will have
that calender .Chris's exploitation is on the down swing..Baby, he's been a
rock star for years...he can hack it...he loves it.....rock stars have big
ego's....yea they do.

And Bush. I saw them on the Howard Stern show last nite...(god!) and Gavin
is seriously better looking than anybody else in that band, Sorry, but he
is....i'd do him, haha...Now I could drone on about how stupid I thought it
was they were on Howard Stern, but I wont.
(Now dont go gettin all sensitive about my sexual inuendos here)

Drawing flies, could be about Chris masturbating (and I can just get real
kinky with that mental image) and guys are guys, so that could be...but isnt
it interesting its so open for interpretation....I never pictured that. I
pictured him at a friends house partying....

And..btw, dont be blasting Kurt. I dont give a fuck if he was a roadie or
whatever (I would LOVE to be a roadie), Kurt had good music and I loved him.
SG's music is like no other, so was Kurts music. And I also like STP they
fuckn rock I dont care what U say, cuz some of U are too narrow minded...
very narrow....

Thats the difference between me and someone that is 14, 15, 16.. I grew up
listenin to the same music that SG did..60's 70's and 80's rock..You guys
only have the 90's rock to compare to. Altho Im sure youve heard AC DC
etc...you didnt grow up listening to it, and have tons of record albums and
partied to Black Sabbath or AC DC or Judas Priest, Pink Floyd, Rush, Eagles,
or probably even Janes Addiction.....all GOOD BANDS!! (Dont go freaking out
now...this age thing is a DEAD subject)

P.S. my cute and cool and sexy guitar teacher-dude taught me how to play Back
in Black, Hells Bells, and the start of Stair way to Heaven today.. KiILLER
If u dont know these songs....I worry.

I AM smelling like a rose that somebody gave me on my birthday death
bed....STP

Crazy more than u know...

Subject: December Rolling Stone article

For your reading enjoyment..

From Rolling Stone issue 750/751, December 26, 1996- January 9, 1997:

These are the best of times and the worst of times for Seattle rock. The
A&R leeches and press hounds are long gone; the scene is back to relative
normality- that is, lively and neighborly (even if some of the neighbors
have platinum all over their walls). But the survivors are hemmed in by the
freak commercial expectations generated by 1992's Summer of Sub Pop and
the dead weight of a tired, distortion-driven rock aesthetic. Grunge, at
its most belabored and cliched, is a music aptly named. On their '94
master blast Superunknown, Soundgarden blew a big, black hole through the
burnt-boogie angst of heavy Muzak, managing to sound both fried and alive
in the fine thunder-and-color tradition of late-period Led Zeppelin. There
is some quality frenzy on Down on the Upside, but Soundgarden seem to be
digging in their heels rather than kicking up dirt, relying too much on
drone-y impressionism and clever (as opposed to cleaving) guitar motifs. The
album is by no means a disaster. It simply lacks defining episodes of
catharsis - and waffle-y lines like "I think it's turning back around/And
I think I like it" ("Dusty") don't count. Soundgarden are capable of
tearing down walls; here, they're just rattling windows.
