Howdy everyone,

I hope you all had a safe holiday.

Erin wanted me to pass this on: < Please pass along to the digest that I give
warm greetings to all of the digest and especially the ones who sent
Christmas cards and wishes.>

Now, KTMS members, and you know who you are, please get in touch with me this
week or next if possible. There are many commands from The Man to follow, and
we don't want to start the new year off in a hole.

Have a great day, and a swell new year.

The List THug, SOMMS Sheriff, and KTMS founder.

Subject: Happy New Year

So the first day of 1997 is over for us all on this side of the planet.

Thanks to all that have sent me mail - it's kinda weird to receive messages
from people from all over the place, when the only thing that links you all
together is a lust for the music of SG. Things seem pretty quiet at the
moment - I guess everyone is still sleeping off the effects of the
parties/gigs that 99% of people indulged in last night.

For when you all decide to wake up again, remember to keep those mindless
messages of indulgence and devotion flowing, thus giving me something to do
during my holidays!

Thanks in particular to Seth and Josh - you guys must either be really
dedicated, or bored!

What would the new year be without a top 10 list!!!!!!! <It would probably be
a relief> However, becuase I'm bored, I thought I'd torture you all with "MY"
top ten list of great 1996 SOMMS occurances! But since I've only been on the
list since August, it might be kind of abreviated. But what the hell, I gave
it a try!

<Now these are only my ponderances please feel free to add or ammend any of
them>

10 - My Mouth of Decadence" compilations. What a great way to get to know
Sommsters from all over the place. <sorry, there will be no more personal
indulgences>

9 - The infamous X-mas mail bombing & SOMMS registration to a whole bunch of
mailing lists. What a way to Fuck up the holidays! Thanx to Seth for killing
that one quick.

8 - The Hater Show "Kick to the Head" Flamefest. Hey gang, lets ressolve to
not have another one of these this year.

7 - The continued flames fest on "young/teenage" fans. All I can say is that
if you're a teenager or younger and you want to be respected on the list,
learn the lines to "Little Joe" or "Beyond the Wheel". We'll trust you more
when you can quote more than BHS or BUTOW.

6 - Who could forget the infamous "Nothingman" the man who ripped so many
SOMMSters off and made so many of you not trust me when it came to the tapes.
Hey I love you guys & would never pull a Nothingman. The one good thing that
came out of the Nothingman debacle was all the cool new euphamisms for
Nothingman (i.e. Nothingdick, etc)

5 - Kim slaps girl!!!!!!! What a load of Bullshit this was. Anyone who knows
the band NEW this was a media cluster fuck & thanks to Seth & the SOMMSters
we got the real story RIGHT AWAY!!!! And we now have the KTMS. By the way,
Aaron, how do I join!!!!!!!!

4- Vicki's European diary. For weeks, while the rest of us waited for SG to
come back to the states, Vicki's diary kept us teary eyed and salivating as
we awaited the inevitable tour. Plus it was great fun to read!!!!!

3 - Dena's SOMMS shirts. The goddess has done it once again!!!!!! The hottest
fucking T's in America for the hottest fucking group of fans in the world!!!!
<ppssstttt...Dena, when do I get mine??????>

2 - The one and only Shroom's radio call to the boys! And what the hell, THEY
KNOW WHO SHE IS!!!!!!!!! IMAGINE THAT!!!!!

2b - Shroom finally meets Chris and gives him her braclet. Way to go Shroom.
I was sincerely touched.

2c - Shrooms SG pages & all it incarnations. Shroom, god you and the shit you
do puts a smile on my face. Keep it up HOOTCHIE.

1- The Chicago SOMMS gathering. Even though I wasn't there, this was the
highlight of the year for all SG fans to learn that the band *truly*
appreciates its genuine fans!

But THE GREATEST THING that has happened this year is the LIST ITSELF!!!!!!!!

********THANX TO SETH**********************

You are the greatest Seth, & we all totally appreciate every fucking bit of
time you devote to keeping this the greatest page ANYWHERE and an awesome
tribute to the world's greatest band. WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH SETH!!!

And to the rest of you SOMMSters, you are the greatest people in the world
online & off (My trip to Seattle proved that) For all of you who I've made
friends with, & those who I hope to in the future::: Thanks for a great
fucking year and an even greater year in 1997!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject: New Year's resolution

I know I'm sorta bringing up an issue that just has been a flame starter in the
past, but I NEVER stop hearing about this.

The only thing that this list needs is for everyone to STOP STEREOTYPING
"younger" fans as knowing less or being less of fans compared to other people
just because they are older. and to make it a bit corny ,but it fits, why not
make it a new year's resolution?

When you are on the BEST Soundgarden 'establishment' on the planet which i love
and you feel like you have pretty much no respect on there after you keep
hearing these ignorant and/or stupid remarks for the hundreth time.
And if i want to lower myself to saying stupid judgemental things, im pretty
sure i know tons more and more lyrics( or whatever some of you were saying)
than A LOT of the fans that are just older.

ok, no more of that pissed off stuff, so here's a suggestion, if you saw SG on
this tour and sortof want to relive that concert, just GET THE FAIRFAX, VA
BOOTLEGG VID!! Even if you didn't, its still great.
Not the *best* quality , but it simply rules. i can't go into detail about all
the cool stuff because then i would typing forever. only complaint is that its
not the austin show.

And if anybody cares, soundgarden is pretty plentiful in the year end best of
96 countdown thing here, pretty noose was in top twenty i think, and burden was
5th. i thought BUTOW would do better since for the past few weeks, there hasn't
been a day when ive turned on the radio that i haven't heard that song playing,
*almost* got me sick of the song.
and DOTU is #15 of the top 15. but for me personally its my favorite of the
year, which im sure most of you hold it in the top few of the year.

no more statistics, enough rambling,

drop dead eyes-dude. Yes, I think it will be October for awhile :) Oh sorry,
I wuz once again lusting over Chris and not focusing on the music. I love to

around on the floor oh yea and the lights have to be out so I can meditate at
the same time.....(?loco?)

Hoping to soon get the Louder than vid hoping it is good. Theyre still
digging around in the warehouse trying to find Motor vision to send me.

Alright then. Happy 1997. May all your dreams and desires be fulfilled.

Ok, at first I wasn't sure if this was list-worthy, but some of my
fellow sommsters urged me to post this. List thug, this is for you! ;-)

It was the Saturday SG concert at Roseland in NYC, and I was enjoying
myself immensly. During BUTOW, though, some guy who was drunk off his ass
and dancing around came into "our" section. Yes, some of the NYC Sommsters
got a special section all to ourselves right in front of the stage near Ben,
thanx to Cynthia. (I love you Cyn, and we MUST get together again soon!)
Anyway, I was not about to let this "intruder" get in the way of my view of
Chris and Kim. There wasn't much I could do but growl under my breath while
this man swayed sloppily in front of me. Even though me and my fellow
compatriots shouted at him to leave, he seemed not to notice. I was NOT a
happy camper. I couldn't even see who Ben was aiming at when he spit on
someone!
While I pondered how best to dispose of this gnat, he started flailing
around and hit me in the thigh. Well, no one touches me above the knee
without permission, and no one keeps me waiting for a glance of Matt. I
summoned all the forces of SOUNDGARDEN and with a loud shout, pushed him to
the ground. This did not go unnoticed and our good friend, the security
guard (after much arguing with this loser) dumped him back into General
Admission where he promptly fell on his face, dropping his cigarette and his
glasses. That taken care of, I enjoyed the rest of the show
obstruction-free. Another win for the SOMMSTERS!

That's all for now folks. Happy New Year!!

Hey list!

Happy New Year!

Hopefully the asprin and coffee is starting to kick in for most of you ;-)

Quick question to those of you that were at the 8/2/92 Soundgarden show in
Chicago...or if you have the show on video tape....who is the third
guitarist during the song "Gun"? And who was the extra drummer during "Cop
Killer"? They set up an extra snare drum...and the camera doesnt really
show who it was.

Check this: 16 Chris's(and everyone else in the band)surrounded me today and
it was so cool!!!! I know what you're thinking, "What an odd dream!?!"
Well, it wasn't a dream, I just happened to walk in the electronic section
of WalMart when BIMH was on every TV that was on. It was really cool
looking. I said to my brother, "This is how I want my room, TVs lining the
walls playing nothing but Soundgarden videos, interviews, and other footage.
Hmmmmmm! :) Well, a girl can dream, can't she!!! Anyway, I was stoked to
hang up my Soundgarden 1997 calander for the whole world to see(mainly me
though). I hope everyone had a nice X-mas(I know I'm sorta late)and a Happy
New Year!!! Santa didn't leave Chris tied up, uhhhhhh, I mean, wrapped in
ribbon under my tree this year. :) Oh well, there is always next year and the
year after that. Maybe Santa will get so pissed at me asking for the same
thing every year that he'll finally break down and just give him to me. I
would be so generous and share with all the females on the SOMMS list!!!
Uhhhh, sorry, dreaming again. I do have a question: On the song "Bleed
Together", after Chris sings "We can bleed together...." he says something in
sort of a lower voice. This happens all through the song and at the end
mostly. Can anyone, PLEASE, tell me what he is saying???? Well, I think
I've babbled enough!!!! Take care everyone and be sweet!!!

Stay Cool,
Kelly :)

Wow--that is so awesome! Thanks for posting that; I think it's really
great!
Matt is my favorite member of Soundgarden and I got to meet him in May. I
could only talk to him for a few minutes, but he seemed really interested
and it was the greatest! Chris is really lucky! How old is
he?
Oh...do you know what Matt was watching on TV? I just have to know! :)
Anyway, thanks for sharing that experience--it was really cool to read

To all Australian sommsters out there..... PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
A&M will be releasing a special DOTU tour package to promote the SG tour
(BDO) in January. This tour package includes the DOTU CD and an extra bonus
CD with 6 rare and unreleased tracks....
and if anyone gets it, it would be nice to let the rest of the list know,
what's on that extra/bonus CD :)

more trivia (sorry): in the new Metal Edge (March) they have a page, where
band members and ME staff list their favorite albums of 1996.
Well, SG's DOTU topped the list of Paul Stanley, and came in second for
Bruce Kulick (behind Beatles' Anthology 3)
and they also had a nice little pic of Chris (shirtless).

true, and that talk would be just that, wind...
People go through changes over their years, therefore bands
also go through changes, which in turn causes their music to
go through changes...
so who's to say what any given band's "vision" is? It certainly
isn't limited to the material that appears on a band's first record
or two... I would think "vision" is more like an ongoing process.

but unfortunately, some fans today feel that if a band starts
making music which differs from their earlier work, then they've
"sold out" to whomever... I certainly wouldn't expect (or want)
six UltraMega OK's from Soundgarden or six Kill Em All's from
Metallica... lots of people may say, "yeah, I only like earlier
Soundgarden/Metallica"... and there's nothing wrong with that,
except that it isn't fair to think that a band shouldn't change
in any way during its lifetime...
