God... this was a conversation we had a long time ago... almost two years
back.

To summarize, we decided that we had no clue, and we didn't really think it
mattered (Jamie Simpson figured that one out). But the duration of the
argument included citations from Holy Water and also Slaves & Bulldozers
and a little bit off of 665 & 667 (as well as Beyond the Wheel).

Some factions of the argument thought that they were Satan worshippers...
all of them.

Others said that they were Christians... bottom line.

I said that I thought Chris was probably an Athiest or something of that
matter... i.e. Don't push your religious crap on me (Holy Water).

'SCUSE ME? What am I hearing on this faithful list? A put-down on 15
year-olds???? WTF????? I am the baby of this list(well, was)and I'm damn
proud to be 15! If it wasn't for the younger SG crowd, SG might not have a
legendary status 50 years down the line! I think it's sickining how someone
on this list, of all places, bash people based on age!!!!!

Ok deeries, this is my whole out look on the fan club.

They need orginization. They need to have people in all regions, and beyond.
 Things will work out better.

they do need a club card. Pearl Jam and a whole list of bands put on shows
just for their fans, or have special ticket discounts for their fan club
memebers, all they have to do is whip out their card. Something like a
credit card will work just fine.

they are doing ok, but from the sounds of it, I'm not sure if it's really
worth the $12 to join. I'll still join, but I'm not sure if it's really
worth it.

ok, on to better things...my version of the 12 days of Chris-tmas.

I understand both side of the situation here with teenagers (since the
ones who have spoken here have shown themselves to be intelligent and
articulate). At the Fairfax SG show, though, there were lots of LITTLE
KIDS, I mean like 9-year-olds, and I was just scared that they were
going to get hurt, being dancing around on the floor. They seemed to be
a little young to be unsupervised, a little too caffeinated or
something, and not exactly sure what to do with themselves, other than
wander around, and did not even seem to know what the music was, only
recognizing the newest stuff. It is also true that the people I
encountered who seemed to be having the most fun appeared to be about
16, a group of about 6 girls, who made the concert a hell of a lot of
fun. Kudos to the good ones!

Wow - I hadn't heard about the RATM Fan Club... VERY ironic I
     would say...

Yes, in order for a band to feel comfortable and committed to
something like a *real* fan club, it has to find someone they
trust. Which is why the Metallica club works, because Tony (the
president and former tour manager) has worked with the band for
years and is also able to get each member to contribute something
(old photos, articles, etc) to every issue of the club's
magazine. The club's Fan Can for this year will include a 60min
video of live footage from the only two shows they did in '95 and
the complete unedited MTV footage from a show they played in a
bar in Aberdeen, WA for an MTV contest winner. Also included
will be a 45min CD of live stuff from the fan club shows they did
in S.F. in June as well as a road crew shirt and a couple of
other knick knacks... I just wish all the bands I liked (SG,
etc) could have such organizations for fans, because it
definately solidifies fan loyalty more than anything else ever
     could.

However, there is another side to the Metallica Fan Club from the
past - There used to be another club in the 80's run by a fan
(and friend of mine) with the band's blessings and some help.
The guy was very passionate about the band, etc. - But he ended
up getting overrun with mail, expenses, etc. and the band
couldn't back him up on things because they were on the road and
becoming millionaire rock stars, so he realized that there's more
to life than Metallica, so he dropped the whole project. It
sucked because he was a hardcore fan of the band's but he ended
up not wanting to have anything to do with them anymore.

Okay, I'm not meaning to beat a dead horse into the ground--but I
can't believe that a person would actually question whether or not to
vote for Seth's page. Being a SG fan, I would think that we would
all welcome genuine SG fans, no matter what their age/nationality/sex
is. That is not important. What is important, in my opinion, is that they
appreciate SG's music, and have an open mind.
Seth has worked very hard on this page (with the help of many) and I
think any recognition he can get, he greatly deserves!!!!! Not only
has he created a wonderful, informative page, he has brought many
people together which has led to wonderful friendships. How could
anyone not want to vote considering all that Seth and Somms has done
for us?????

5) the showbox show and getting matt's drumstick from ted
6) the mifflin incident & the founding of the KTMS

11) shroom's texas posts ;-)
