it's the 3rd dae of my membership;
i already have approx. 60000 bytes of SG-concerned-mail in my box...

i checked me mailbox in the mornin' about 4 o'clock a.m. today; and in a
hurry (i had to go out to see thAT sun thing tryin' to wake up) i read sth.
about SG's last album bein' one's favourite after sometime spent on it..

it recalled the thing i felt when i got Pearl Jam's last album-
NO CODe; which i guess has one of the most sincere context ever.
                          __-'`-__
                           (o) (o)
it seems to me that whom have actually given birth to a sound
(called Seattle in deed; -reminds me of coffee 'n rain whereas my only
impressions on Seattle are built on a few movies-) are pushin' this
commonly-qualified sound to their *very own* frontiers.
-----------> SG has always had this ritualistic sounds within their
songs, but i feel that now we have very distinct melodies to hear.
..., eeaaaaaand i'm definitely pleased to be two of the various ears facin'
what's to be heard.

i hope THAT sun will:

hi all!!!
i`m sorry i havent been on the mailing list for a while but i had a virus
all over my comp
so i installed every thing i had beafore once again that includes win95 and
all the other win95 shit like plus and all the internet stuff :(

ok any way all this time with out my comp gave me time to think about
soundgarden

ok what i wanted to tell you is that like DOTUS is considured soundgarden`s
best album yet so lets say that soundgarden are making a new album so what
i`m afraid of is that it would be like less good then the last one and then
it would be like a diepontment for soundgarden and thire fans...
now i know that some of you dont think that DOTUS is soundgarde`s best but
for those that dose think of it as thire best (like me) would be
diapointed...

i just wanted to tell you that for a thinking metirial...

take care now byebye then!!!!

Subject: dotu and bye.

Welp, just finished my final final and i am gone, so don't expect mail
from me til january.

But to make this sg related, i have finally noticed the problems wiht dotu
that others have noticed. The songs aren't as thought out and arranged as
those on bmf. Also, the lyrics are way to repetitive, esp. in butow. By
repetitive i mean that one line gets repeated to many times. It begins to
annoy me. Now as great a lyricist as chris is, seems he could have
written a few more lines if he wanted to have so much singing in the mix.
welp, that's my last comment for the year. adios a todos. -j

If anyone thinks Chris Cornell has the heroin look, I would like to know
what you're taking. He looks healthy to me. He's very thin, but he's also
very tall. The weight spreads out. I'm very tall and very thin, but I eat
all the time. If anyone here wants to know about the real heroin look, check
out the article about former RHCP guitarist John Frusciante. The RHCP
homepage is

That is the sad truth about heroin and the insanity it causes. Chris Cornell
doesn't look like, nor think like that.

May Soundgarden be with you.

From: Stephanie Valahovic

You have to wonder if Rollingstones was being fair with Soundgarden.
I understand why Rollingstone disliked DOTU, it's because they are
still living in the past. Metal may not be dead but it's not a popular
as it used to be. With Soundgarden, I think they are upset with the
change, but Soundgarden had too. So many new and old bands are
jumping on what works. The guys had to change in order to stay
out of the commercialism of a set of styles or approaches they and
others, such as AIC, PJ, and ST, started in the begining. For this
reason and others like comparison to 70-80s' Metal/Rock bands,
judging them on SU, how could they out do SU with out comming up
with Superunkown II the sequel, I feel strongly that Rollingstones
was just plain unfair. What is wrong with taking a more artistic
approach to music.

Rollingstones review
Soundgarden
Superunknown

"Sure, there are Chris Cornell's welcome-to-Armageddon
lyrics, Soundgarden's brooding stance and the marketing
buzz bestowed by their Seattle birthright. But the secret
to the justified chartbusting of "Superunknown" is simpler
and rarely hyped: gargantuan musicianship. Of Seattle's
pantheon -- Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden
- -- the latter flourish the fiercest skills. And that's
chiefly because of their grounding in metal. From Randy
Rhoads to Yngwie Malmsteen, metal thrives on (admittedly
macho) chops, and Soundgarden's Kim Thayil is a stalking
catalog of them: speed, dynamics, precision, texture. "

Rollingstones review
Soundgarden
Down On The Upside

"But where "Superunknown" confronted Soundgarden's
perennial identity crisis by expanding the musical
attack into pop and psychedelic rock, the band's
fifth album heads straight for the jugular, eschewing
innovation for the simpler payoff of just rocking out. "

Rollingstones review
Soundgarden/Screaming Trees
Down on the Upside/Dust
A&M/Epic

"On their 94 master blast, "Superunknown," Soundgarden
blew a big, black hole through the burnt-boogie angst
of heavy Muzak, managing to sound both fried and alive
in the fine thunder-and- color tradition of late-period
Led Zeppelin. There is some quality frenzy on "Down on
the Upside", but Soundgarden seem to be digging in their
heels rather than kicking up dirt, relying too much on
drone-y impressionism and clever (as opposed to cleaving)
guitar motifs. The album is by no means a disaster. It
simply lacks defining episodes of catharsis and waffle-y
lines like I think its turning back around/And I think I
like it ("Dust"y) dont count. Soundgarden are capable
of tearing down walls; here, theyre just rattling windows."

I agree that Rolling Stone is being unfair. I also agree that SG moves on
instead of staying the same. Like you stated before, what's the point of
putting out another sequel album? Most people would get tired of such a
rehashed variation. I personally like DOTU much better than Superunknown,
but that's just me. DOTU feels deeper than SU, and seems like it has more
meaning. I don't think that the sole judgment of music is how many different
lyrics you can come up with, but a sound that can move you. Don't get me
wrong. I'm not saying that there's no connection between the music they have
put out in the past and DOTU, but that DOTU has a new spin. It's just my
thoughts. Thanks for your time.

Matt

Toobad you all had no moshing at all these shows.....Seattle rocks because
it's still one of those places that all of us "old people" (read: over 25
but under 30) can still enjoy watching all the 13 year olds get the shit
beaten out of them...by the way, 10th and 11th shows cxld cuz of Chris'
"laryngitis". Due to see them re-sked'd on 17th & 18th at Mercer (the
real Seattle Arena!!!!! Fuck KeyArena!!! Whatever happened to the
Coliseum?????) Arena. Enjoy.......
