Subject: A little bit about Vancouver

I was at the Sat., Dec. 7 Vancouver show this weekend with Thuggy and
Andrea. I saw Mark (SG's sound guru) outside the PNE Forum a few hours
before the show and thanked him for taking such good care of our Shroom.
He gave me a warm smile and said, "She's a cool lady." Yes, we know. :)
I think I took pictures of this show (I tried 800 speed film, cross your
cyberfingers). As soon as I get them back I'll scan them for Seth along
with some Chicago pics I've been promising. As for a review of the Sat.
performance, well, Chris' voice is shot. He had trouble with both high
and low registers. He was really straining. I hate it when he does that
- -- I don't even want to think about the kind of damage that can result in.
They cut the set short by 10 or 15 minutes, I assume in an attempt to help
Chris salvage himself for the two homecoming, end-of-tour shows this week.
The energy/intensity of the show was good but I think they've been on the
road long enough and they're happy to finally be home, if only for the few
weeks of the holiday season. Some highlights were 1) Matt (everything),
2) Kim flipping his guitar behind his head to play it backwards and upside
down (and smiling the whole time -- he even impressed himself) and lastly,
3) 'Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey' !!!
- ---------------

From 'The Rocket' (Seattle's weekly music/entertainment paper)...
Too Cool For You -- They may never write anything as culturally
influential as "Achy Breaky Heart," or let Neil Young sleep on their
couch, but Soundgarden are still the coolest thing going. Exactly how
cool, you ask? So cool that Johnny Cash, the Man in T Black _himself_,
recently covered "Rusty Cage." So cool that when they played "Saturday
Night Live," they screwed up "Pretty Noose" -- and acted like it was part
of the song. So cool that they still haven't spent all the money from the
last three times they've played Seattle. Here's what to expect: lots of
legendary volume, lots of freeloading friends and family backstage making
the show run late, and lots of "Real World" fans singing along to "Black
Hole Sun." By the way, both Seattle performances are completely sold out.
Uncool.

That interview disc you're referring to must be the BiMH single.
When I saw it the first thing that caught my attention was that
sticker that says "Collector's Edition" or something like that.
So I gently pulled out the money I had to buy that day's ration
of ice cream for my family and bought it in my local Tower Records.
The CD also includes a cool poster which I had seen before...

But then in the middle of a deep reflection I thought: "Well if
I have it, if I bought it here it can't possibly be a Collector's
Edition".... today I try to feel better by thinking that I'm
the owner of a multi-million-copy collector's item. :(

PD: I also bought it because it includes "She's a Politician".
Im trying to get every song in SOMMS and then burn a CDR.

Steps for discovering a soundgarden-related error:

	1. Enter CD-NOW
	2. Do a "FastFind" on Soundgarden
	3. Open the track listing that appears for Badmotorfinger
	4. Read the first entry: "Nasty Cage".

Thanks for the info. Now here is something that you might find amusing.
Back in the heyday of Culture Club there was another semi-famous drag queen
by the name of Marilyn. I actually read in a Rolling Stone article that
our dear Gavin used to date said drag queen. Kind of makes you wonder...
Maybe Gavin just has the hots for Chris Cornell and can't stand the fact
that Kim, Matt, and Ben get to spend so much time with him. Therefore he
manifests this jealousy through ripping up a painfully-obviously-not-
shitty-band. Bad grammar I know, but you get the point. Needless to say,
Bush sucks and Soundgarden does not. End of story..

I agree with Chris Cornell. MTV has turned into CTV. There is way too many
game shows and cartoons and such. First of all, The Real World's time has
come and gone and Road Rules is boring. Beavis and Butthead are stupid and
people can watch Ren & Stimpy on Nickelodeon. As far as I'm concerned, the
only shows that should be on MTV are the Week in Rock, Rockumentaries,
Unplugged, and any specials that are music oriented. Enough of the nonmusic
crap. I read an article about MTV just recently and it said that they were
going back to the M in their name by launching a new SHOW!!! OH JOY!! It's
called Amp and it's about rave music. Something not very popular in the U.S.

I can remember just a few years ago, staying up late at night and still
seeing videos like Pearl Jam's Evenflow and Temple of the Dog's Hunger
Strike. These were the hot videos at the time and I loved them and still do,
but hardly ever see any videos anymore.

I don't want to turn on MTV and see a marathon of Happy Days! Just this past
weekend there was a Real World marathon! What gives?

I definitely think that Chris Cornell should rant and rave all about this
because he sees alot of people and maybe he can get through to the these
people that MTV has totally forgotten about the M in it's name. Forget all
the shows and go back to playing the music.

May Soundgarden be with you.

Speaking of supporting radio stations...I don't know about that. Have you
noticed how MTV and commercial radio are playing SG constantly? Hardly any
of the SG stuff they're playing is pre-Badmotofinger or in the case of LA
stations, pre-Superunknown. They're all on this SG bandwagon and it's
making me sick. As DOTU ages, I wonder if the LA stations will continue to
play SG. I doubt if they will play them as much because LA is a trendy
city. The radio stations seem to play whatever are the "buzz clips" of the
moment. Although I can say that the college stations are pretty cool.
Some of you LA and OC SOMMSters may be familiar with KUCI and KCRW,
especially if you have an eclectic taste in music.

where do those stupid idiots get off slagging on billy corgan and others
about their musical influences, etc??????????

this is from a band that can't even muster up an ounce of creativity to
make a half-original song!

never before have i heard a band that is more of a rip-off and a cop-out.

has anyone heard their new album?
they are trying so hard to sound raw and un-polished.
how cute.
they now have a studio doctored-polished-raw-unpolished sound.

why the hell are they in guitar world???

i thought that mag was about good music and guitars (except when they
interviewed silverchair, but that's saved for another rant....), not about
"sexy" singers.

bush reminds me of all that is bad about the music industry.

that's my rant.

i would love to see a cage match between soundgarden and bush......
any thoughts about the outcome of such a match????
i'll start it off:

kim starts off against that guitar guy.
he slams the guy's head into the steel bars.
kim tags in matt.
matt gives the guy a DDT, then lets him tag in "GAVIN!!!"
matt gets "GAVIN!!!" in a headlock, and tags in....
ben.

i'm not going to write any details.
suffice to say, ben kicks gavin's ass.

i'm not condoning violence, people.
i just want to see bush get their due.

maybe we can have bush vs. rollins band in a taipei death match.
hmmmmm......

Alright, alright......I can't help but inquire as to why there's such a
commotion about Bush. I mean let's face it folks, there isn't a beter band out
there.
The cage match isn't a bad idea though. But all we'd need to do was
send Ben. I mean, I'm pretty sure Gavin won't come anyway, too busy at a Teen
mag shoot.
I can just picture it now....Three out of four of Bush standing in the
ring going,"Come on you pansy's. We know we can take you. After all, that's
what rock is about, who's got the biggest cock."
Then Kim would say some big words and Chris would make some smart-ass
comment that they wouldn't understand and that would pretty much be the end of
things.
But they won the MTV viewers choice, so that makes everything ok.
	(big uh.......yeah from the crowd)

surrounded by uninvited company, and a dead pig lab
	biff

Howdy, folks! :-)

Well, I'm here after drinking a few glasses of delicious Australian red =
wine, polishing off the whole bottle with my husband, and I've been =
listening to some fabulous music to my heart's content.

M.O.M. - Music for Our Mother ocean - the Surfrider Foundation =
compiliation. I finally got my hands on this CD after my good friend =
Jackhammer paid up his debt to me (after a private betting competition =
we had over the previous winter) and sent me the CD of my choice. THANK =
YOU, JACKHAMMER!! And it is good! DAMN good!! :-)

I can't remember if any lister gave this CD any more than a passing =
mention when it was released. Well, I think it deserves a BIG mention! =
This worthwhile cause actually has some GOOD music on it, with many of =
my favourites on there: like Sprung Monkey, Pennywise, Helmet, Sublime, =
Pearl Jam, my sweet little Aus boys silverchair (question on their song =
later), AND of course, OUR band...........Soundgarden! :-) "My Wave" =
is of course very appropriate for this CD.

Grote! You'll be pleased to know that I have at last heard The Reverend =
Horton Heat do their thing! "I Can't Surf". And Jamesetta! NOW I can =
see why you have raved about 7 Mary 3! Their "Blackwing" is pure magic =
(they sound A LOT like American band The Sidewinders - has anyone heard =
of them??). And I recall Steve (yes?) saying how much he liked Helmet's =
version of Bjork's "Army of Me" - I can see why (but being a Bjork =
NON-fan I must say anything Helmet would do of hers would be far better =
than the original). Jewel (who I've never heard before) sing a gorgeous =
song called "Quiet Warrior". Can anyone give me some info on this band? =
And I must say the Ramones' "California Sun" is great, while Gary Hoey =
with Donavon Frankenreiter (who the hell are they? I've never heard of =
'em) play an absolute KILLER version of "Wipeout".

Finally, before I keel over with all this excitement (it is so good to =
pick up a compilation album that contains not even ONE song I don't =
like), I must ask anyone out there who might be able to help me out - =
who originally sang "Surfin' Bird"? silverchair cover it here. I have =
The Cramps' album "Off The Bone", from the early 80s, which has this =
song on it. I used to love it back then, but I like silverchair's =
version better. But did The Cramps write it originally?? Does anyone =
know? Steve, Ray - help me out, guys! :-)

Back to my box now..........

Carolyn the Manic Frenzy
Has everybody heard about the bird?.......silverchair/The Cramps/??????

No matter what MTV put on I doubt I would ever watch it. The are so
corporate and slick, it makes me sick. People should support their radio
stations and don't watch MTV. It takes away from the bands and Its so
disgustingly trendy. Music isn't about how much money you can make off
it, its about the artists and the songs. And that Kennedy, I'm gonna rip
her head off...

this college station here at North Carolina State is pretty sad too. All
they do is play awesome metal and hard rock music. They all this shitty
music like "flower" and "rusty cage". They even have the nerve to play
Corrosion of Conformity and the new TOOL. When i had my training shift
this weekend, i played all this crappy music like classic def leppard and
MORE soundgarden and faith no more. I even played something for all those
drunkass people out there, "don't cry" (alt. version) (FOR YOU SETH!!
;>). Then, after i didn't really have anything to play after CoC to fit
the mood, i had to play some Tad. ick.. it was terrible.

well... sorry to disappoint you all. My rant is done.

I would pay good money to see it. Soundgarden would kick so much ass
that Chuck Norris would be jealous. Soundgarden would send Bush Down on
the Upside into the SuperUnknown while rotating on their Badmotorfinger.
