Subject: Kim & Flatland

I waited out behind the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento for a while...
maybe 45 minutes- and then Kim walked by.
A bunch of people ran at him, but then some guy yelled at us to get back
on the sidewalk. Kim came over and I handed him the book I brought to
give him. It is called Flatland and is out of print- I had read somewhere
that Kim was interested in physics so I thought he would like Flatland
because it is a sort of fantasy based on mathematics and topology.
Kim was VERY happy to get the book. He sort of hugged it to his chest then
he said
"Flatland! I can't believe it. I've wanted to read this book since I was
17 or 18 and I was in high school. My friend read it, then he told me
about it, but I couldn't find it."

"I know," I said, "It's out of print."

Kim wanted to know if all the pages were there, and when I said "I think so"
very hesitantly he looked rather suspicious. I defended myself against his
stern look by squeeking "I didn't take any of the pages out."

I asked if I could take his picture, and Kim said "Yeah, since you asked."
He went on, "I'm very nice about it if you ask, I just don't like it when
I'm at a hotel and when I go by there's a drunk wedding party and they
ask if they can take my picure and I say no and they DO IT ANYWAY. I don't
like that. But since you asked, yeah, no problem."

Kim then let me and several other people not only take his picture, he
let us get in the picure with him.

It was cold, windy, and rainy. When Kim put his arm around me I snuggled
against him and it was very warm. He would be a great big brother, IMHO.

Kim was quite nice and signed autographs for everyone waiting to see him.

Matt and Ben were walking around but they both looked uninterested in
being bothered by fans. Matt shivered a little when he was getting in the
bus. I didn't stay to see if I could talk to anyone else; I suspect that
Chris may have signed some autographs after I left because he hadn't
come out of the building yet, and I understand that he is very nice about
that sort of thing.

Meeting Kim was a pleasant experience. It was worth standing around in the
wind and rain for all that time.

Thanks for listening!

Tiffany

Subject: Just a kiss from Chris....

no, no....the subject line does not refer to me......not that I'd mind
of course :)......you'll see what I mean later on...
In the last couple of days, I've noticed some posts concerning
certain rock performers commenting on SG (Jani Lane, Gavin,
Failure guy), so here's another one.
This one's from Marilyn Manson, and
it's taken from a CFNY broadcast/interview earlier this year.
Martin and Pete are the DJs btw...

[...]
Martin: Cool. We'll have more questions in a minute (plays commercials/songs)
(they come back, talking about the new soundgarden album)
Martin: Have you heard the new Soundgarden album all the way through?
Manson: Yeah
Pete: You're a Soundgarden fan, aren't you?
Martin: And?
Manson: I like the song "Blow up the outside world"
Pete: That's a good one.
Manson: But, uh, we played a show with Soundgarden and I uh, tried to talk
to Chris Cornell, but he didn't like me very much.
Pete: He didn't like martin either
Martin: Yeah, he didn't like me either. He wanted to beat my head in
because I said I didn't like Led Zeppelin.
Manson: I asked him if he wanted to kiss me and he turned me down
Pete: really, cuz he kissed me.
Manson: really?
[...]

.....and just when I begin to think things are getting really juicy, the two
stupid DJs (ignoring their guest completely) launch into a banal discussion
about that Molson Park show and SG's performance, which I won't bother
typing out. 'cos it's not exactly positive.

another thing: I checked out Shroom's and Dena's SiCA page, and it's
not as Chris-infested as I thought it would be (give it time, give it
time...hehe) :)
although the Chris/SG pics are great........not to mention a pic of a
cute dog (whose is it?), which gives the page a very umm.... nice touch..... :)
...and yes, the autographs are there as well incl. of course "nice eyes" ;-)

that's all for now

Hell-O every one,

Aaron just got home from the Vancouver B.C. Soundgarden show, and it was
quite good. Andrea and I made the trek to Vancouver in record time, despite
the torrential rains and slow drivers. We found the venue with no problems at
all. But a potential bad thing happened. As I was putting on my coat, the
tickets, still inside the handy ticketmaster envelope, fell to the
rain-soaked parking lot. We did not know this, and so we went on our merry
way. In line, waiting to get in, I noticed I was without our tickets. So, we
retraced our steps back to the car, and there they were. We were VERY happy
about that. It's a REALLY long drive to find out you are ticketless. As soon
as we get inside we hear this voice calling our names, and there is Vikki,
sitting against the barrier. It's a small world I say.

On to the show. Pond played a really good set, and the crowd enjoyed their
performance. Rocket From The Crypt was quite good tonight as well. For the
members who know Frank, I hooked up with him for a short time, which was
nice. Everyone say hi to Frank, he's really cool, and I say you should say hi
to him. "Hi Frank". And Chicago show goers, they used the same yellow passes
that they used on Saturday for the Meet & Greeters. </me wonders how many
colors they use> Kim and Chris were really into the show. I couldn't see Matt
too well, with those cymbals in the way and all, so I'm not too sure about
his mood. It looked as if Ben wished he was at home instead of playing in
Vancouver. He spent half the show lurking in the shadows way off to the side,
almost completely out of view. He did offer someone the chance to come on
stage so he could kick the crap out of him, but the guy declined. Some keys
were tossed onstage as well, and Ben picked them up and dangled them in the
air before tossing them far far into the void that was backstage. I think we
may have found Ben a new job opportunity. I think he should try out for the
Mariners. He could play right field no problem, with the rifle of an arm that
he has. Plus, the teams who played the Mariners would be afraid to get in a
bench clearing brawl with him, because he would kick all their asses. They
didn't play as many of the songs that they have in previous shows, they kind
of jammed a little longer on the BMF stuff. They did play Hands All Over,
which was nice. And in the middle of SWMGEC, they started to play Everybody's
Got Something to Hide Except for Me And My Monkey. Which was really cool. All
in all it was a good show.

Bonus's of the evening: Didn't get stopped at Customs, and have our car and
persons searched. And I didn't get lost!!! No matter what, it seems I always
get lost in Vancouver. But not tonight!

Over and out.

The List Thug, KTMS Founder, SOMMS Sheriff, List Schmoozer, and all around
crazy guy,

Subject: Soundgarden in Vancouver

Saturday morning I wrote my final exam. The last few questions were
difficult to finish because all I could think about was how I would seeing
Soundgarden for the first time. I was rather excited. I missed them in 92
for various reasons, then they didn't come to Vancouver during Lolla.
There was no way I was going to miss them this time.

My friends finally caught up to me, and we headed for the ferry. Once on
the mainland I drove to my grandparents place and dropped off our stuff,
ate some dinner, sat around and talked, then headed to the concert. I
actually managed to get a parking spot on the lots right nearby.

We got in line, got frisked, got into the building. At first I was worried
about the sound because I could hear a bad echo from the background music.
I soon forgot about that.

Pond came on at 7:30, and left shortly after 8 I think. They were alright,
but nothing special about them.

10 minute turnaround time and Rocket from the Crypt were up and playing and
dancing around. They were a little better, but I still didn't like them
all that much.

Once RFTC packed off their stuff, it was only 15 to 20 minutes later and
Soundgarden came out. It was insane!

They opened with Spoonman, and the entire area where I was erupted into
this violent mass of people. I ended up moving to the right a little bit
about 3 or 4 people back from the barricade right in front of Ben.

Here are the songs they they played (most of them anyway, and in no
particular order)

Spoonman
Burden in My Hand
Outshined
Rusty Cage
Hands All Over
Let Me Drown
Ty Cobb
Black Hole Sun (solo by Chris)
My Wave
Pretty Noose
Fell on Black Days
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Slaves and Bulldozers

encore had
Blow Up the Outside World
Jesus Christ Pose

I had a really good view of the whole band, and I had a great time.

Here are my comments about each member

CC - wearing a black shirt, and black jeans . He sounded great, and
performed very well. I never saw him crack a smile, but I felt he was
having fun. He didn't play his guitar on a couple of songs, one of them
being Ty Cobb (excellent song live).

MC - White Sleeveless shirt, and black shorts. One intense fellow. Like
someone else mentioned (I think it was Seth). Matt likes to stare at the
next cymbal he is going to smash. Watching him perform through JCP was
incredible.

KT - black long sleeve NOFX shirt underneath a terror crew shirt and black
jeans. Played extremely well. No mistake that I heard, and didn't really
move around all that much. After the encore he hid behind one of the
speakers, then popped out for a second holding what looked like a can of
beer.

BS - white tshirt, jean jacket, and black jeans. The only words to
describe him are surly fuck. Right at the beginning he almost jumped into
the crowd to grab the guy that was taunting him. He was fingering people,
spitting at them, kicking lights. At one point he hid behind the tall
stack of speakers after ripping down a barricade.

Other highlights:

- -Kim and Chris doing the guitar blowjob thing (blowing on the strings)
- - Kim playing behind his head for part of a song
- -after JCP Kim and Chris went nuts with the feedback for about ten minutes
I think. Chris released three of the strings on his guitar, played with
the remaining two. Eventually he turned over a speaker, put the guitar on
top of it, and surfed on the guitar. Kim on the other hand placed his
guitar on top of an 8 foot speaker, and got the feedback going all without
looking at the strings.
- -during the feedback at the end of JCP Kim had a red spotlight on him, and
I guess he noticed because he put up a couple of fingers behind his head,
and gave his shadow some rabbit ears.
- -Ben mouthing this one guy off, calling him a pig because he was apparently
feeling up some of the women there (how juvenile eh?)

Anyhow, I guess that is it for now. Sorry it is so long, but I figure
since I rarely post that I can make up for it with this one. Later all.

                Greg

P.S. Shirt prices were outrageous!

Here's the big quote over the front page of the article:

And now for Ben being Ben:
Shepherd: Usually when i'm playing music i'm less violent. When i don't
play i start getting crazy.
Seconds: What happens?
Shepherd: I mouth off like a dumbass
seconds: how do you work it out?
Shepherd: I don't.
