Hello every one,
I don't normally write in, but after going to the sunday dec.1
show in L.A., I decided that I would say a little something. First of
all, were there's a will, there's a way. Although my comrades and I had
mezzanine seats, we managed to fanagel wrist bands out of a guy in
Operations and introduced ourselves to the pit. (This is the second SG
show I've done hts at so I'm starting to feel a message here.) There was
also no moshing aloud at this show as well, or at least they kept
breaking it up. We were in the pit for about ten minutes watching this
dumb hootchie bitch and her pimp cavort on a towel on the floor ( I kid
you not), when I see a guy wearing a sticker that says "Backstage Pass".
I'm thinking, clean cut guy, looks nice and friendly, so I ask him were
he manged to acquire such a desired piece of property? He says he has a
friend who works there. Hmmmmm. After a little pleading and a few
friendly smiles, my friends were smiling, passes sticking to their
shirts. I unfortunately, had a test that following Monday, so when the
concert was over I had to go to the airport to return to school. Oh well,
I've met them twice before, but I must admit, this was the best
Thanksgiving I ever had.

Ok, i was there, but i must say, i was somewhat disappointed. Maybe my
expectations were too high or something. In my opinion, SG was 10 times
better on the Superunknown tour. They almost seemed bored with playing,
and were just going through the motions. It was cool to hear JCP, Hands
All Over and Outshined, but there just wasn't the energy that i felt last
time. Like someone mentioned, the sound kind of sucked. Maybe
it was the arena, i don't know. I have seen bands with shitty sound and
equipment still rock and produce a power packed show. On a positive note,
Kim was totally awesome. He just plain went off with that guitar. I was
disappointed that Kim, Matt nor Ben even said a word to the audience, and
Chris really didn't say too much at all. Everyone was saying how they
played cover songs and Jerry Garcia's Finger, but we didn't get any of
that. I don't regret going, i had fun, i love Soundgarden, but things
could have been better. At least they played a lot of BMF songs plus Hands
All Over. Chris's voice seemed off on Black Hole Sun, but totally awesome
on BUTOW and JCP. It all just seems too weird.

Thanks for your time
David

PS-Rocket From the Crypt was cool. I have one off their tapes, but they
are way better live. It was great to see them for the second time.

I was reading the digest (SAT 12/7) and I noticed three (3) people got lucky
on that day to find copies of SOMMS. Does anyone think this is not just a
coincidence? Anyway, I'm proud to say to every member of this list that I,
Never_Named, was one of the three lucky ones.

Into the Void, Girl U Want and Slaves and Bulldozers (live) sounded great.
And the first time I heard She's A Politician, I thought Chris was saying
SUPER-POWERED VISION. HaHa, I think I need to get my ears cleaned. ;)

ok. . .my last word on the homophobic element on the list is just that.
the last word. it just disappoints me that some members of this
"fellowship" would rather see me lying in a gutter with my head bashed
open than meet me at a concert and talk about our favorite band. how
pathetic and sad.

Subject: Hello kiddies...

Thanks to everyone who wrote to congratulate me on my meeting with SG.
=) I'm really glad that my posts seemed to get the feeling of the moment
across (kinda sorta, anyway). I'm still freaking out about it.

What I'm writing about today kiddies... is this advertisement I got in
the mail today for CPG Autographs. Now, I have to admit to y'all that I HAVE
ordered SG autographs from them before... years ago.
</me hangs head in shame>
(I'm practicing my IRC thingies so that when I FINALLY get to hop in the
SOMMS hot tub, I'll be ready.) Anyway, when I ordered my SG autographs (like
4 or 5 years ago)... I paid about $20 or $25 for them. It's got Chris, Kim,
Matt, and Jason Everman on it... and it's actually pretty groovy. Ever since
then, though... I've been getting catalogues in from the company. Usually I
toss them out, but today I decided to take a closer look at it. *OUTRAGE!!*
The going price for SG's autographs today is $75. WHOAH! Damn, that's alot
of money. No wonder those people haunt the bands. Want to hear something
even more outrageous? Candlebox's autographs are going for $75, also.
AAAUUUGGHHHH!!! Do people really value them as much as SG? I'm sorry, but
I personally consider that blasphemous. THAT IS JUST MY OPINION. If you're
reading this, and you're a huge Candlebox fan... don't whine to the list
about it. No one cares. =) I'm so nice. Anyway... one more outrage for
y'all, and then I'll quit writing. Faith No More is going for the same price
as Warrant... $55. Pearl Jam is $295 and Nirvana is $350. Just thought some
of y'all would care.

I accidentally sent off my last post without finishing it, damn me. Sorry
'bout that. There were a few more things that I was going to comment on:

First of all, as to the whole "hootchie" thing... *I* am a hootchie.
I've been a hootchie for a long time, and I like being a hootchie.
"Hootchie" is NOT a derogatory term, as far as I'm concerned. So let's just
get that straight right now. =)
"Groupie"...........BAD
"Woo Girl"..........BAD
"Hootchie"..........GOOD
So says the officially elected SOMMS hootchie, Shroom Girl. =)

Oh yeah, and I got my autographs digitized ("Nice eyes"... *sigh*) and
put up on a web page that's going to be Dena's and mine... but Dena hasn't
seen it yet, so I can't post the URL. I need her approval before I let
everyone see it. But if and when you do check it out, please remember...
it's the first web page I've ever done. So if it sucks... that's tough. I'd
love to get some advice on it though, if anyone has any to give. It's on
AOL, so you may shoot me now. =) Thank yew and good night...

"Chris, I'd like for you to meet your new mistress, Shroom Girl. See, she
won the lottery last week, and she's offered me $10 million dollars for your
sexy body. This coincides perfectly with my plans to give up managing bands
in favor of moving to Wisconsin and opening a poodle plantation, so I've
decided to accept her offer. Shroom, here's his styling gel and hairspray
(he can't live without them anymore). Have a nice life, kiddies..." ~ Susan

After hearing of the upcoming tours to Australia and noting the number of
UQ people on this mailing list, I was wondering if there will be some sort
of SOMMS meeting at the brissy tour? I'm hoping to join all you peoples in
the pit after jumping 3 fences and a rail from the very back corner where
our seats are.

Seeyas there.

Well, this has a LITTLE bit of SG content... and I'm self centered enough to
take up a whole post about it... so here's the URL to Dena's and my webpage.
 =)

http://members.aol.com/ShRooMGrLz/shroom.html

Yeah, it's on AOL. Go ahead and laugh. But remember... it's my first
attempt at a web page, so deal with it. It's not like I was expecting
anything too dazzling, anyway. It might take a few minutes to load, because
I stuck like 5 pictures on it. I'm planning on switching out the pictures
every couple of days... and maybe I'll put up a few novelty pages just for
the hell of it (especially since it's so easy to mess with). Write and let
me know what you think! (I especially love the picture of Chris... it's one
of my faves.) And yes, my autographs are there. =)

Hi I saw them in the city the day before or rather the night Chriss's
voice gave out and would love to have a live tape of this tour so if
anyone is planning to tree it or can make analog copies let me know
thanks. I have seen that it is on DAT so far.

Toni, welcome back! [sigh] Although I think you wrote that a few days =
ago now, right? I'm behind again............. :-(

BUT while I'm here - I've been reading all the posts regarding favourite =
bands, coming from Kathie's original question as to why the hell a =
person who doesn't call SG their "Favourite" band would be on this list. =
Well, many of you know that I consider the Violent Femmes my all-time =
favourite band. NOT Soundgarden! Eeeeeeek! (damn me straight to hell, =
as Shroom would say??) And yet I'm not on the VF mailing list. Weird, =
huh? I have liked VF since they first began back in 1982. I have =
bought all of their albums as they have been released, and they are one =
band I can listen to at any time and never ever be sick of their music. =
I guess they take me back to my childhood, because I was listening to =
them even when I was young and silly! (still young and silly, though, I =
guess).

Soundgarden is a whole different story. They came into my life much =
later. Unlike with the Femmes, I did NOT know of them when they first =
began. I did NOT buy their albums as and when they were first released. =
I own all their albums now, and will continue to buy their albums until =
they stop producing, but they will probably never surpass my love of VF =
even if only because the Femmes are a part of ME, and have been, for a =
long time. Don't get me wrong, Soundgarden DOES affect me in a way very =
few other bands do. They ARE one helluva brilliant band. I see all the =
good things in this band that "die-hard" fans on this list see. I have =
no arguments with anyone as to why Soundgarden is one of (if not THE) =
best bands around, technically, musically, lyrically. But the Femmes =
are still my favourites. :-P

So why be on this list? I just happened to be surfing the 'net way back =
in August last year, and did a search for Soundgarden. Why not Violent =
Femmes? Hmmmmmm, I don't know. Fate, maybe? And I joined this list, =
grew to love it, grew to know some of the members intimately and make =
some friends for life, grew to love Soundgarden, grew to feel like I =
know the band members. NO WAY could I unsubscribe! And no way will I =
subscribe to a VF list because I simply don't have the time to be on two =
lists!! :-) =20

So, Kathie, that's why I'm here. You're all stuck with me, even if I =
don't say SG is my favourite! Like it or lump it, folks...............
