Subject: holy shit i fondled chris' fork!

ok, this will be a summary of the BEST FUCKING NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!! i am too
brain dead and deaf to go into more detail right now, but here ya go:

Meeting the Sommsters at Moody's was awesome (i love you guys!!!)...and then
the best surprise came...Erin from Silver Management showed up with
*someone*...she walked over to us and said "hi I'm Erin and THIS IS
SETH!!!!!" yes, the band flew him in for the show , gave him deluxe
accomodations, and he surprised the shit out of us - it was awesome!!!

ok, now onto the best thing EVER. When we got to the Aragon, we were each
given an official Soundgarden Guest pass (which is never leaving my chest)
Then Erin brought us backstage in 2 groups of 10. First we waited by the
stage door cuz the guys were watching Tenderloin. When their set ended, the
guys walked by and went upstairs to their dressing room - that would have
been enough for me, to see them like that...but man was the best yet to
come. We walked up to the dressing room, my legs were like jello.

Kim came into the room first. He was not very talktative to our group -
signed our stuff and walked away. But then the god himself, Mr. Cornell,
walked into the room and was standing in front of me. I nearly died. I
shook his hand and introduced myself...while holding onto his hand, I said
"Thank you thank you...for 8 years i have loved and worshipped everything
you have done." And Chris said "Everything? really? Some of it has
sucked." That was too cool. Then he signed by BiMH poster, my BiMH single
and we chit chatted. Hey Michele - i asked him about the BUGS on the
official web site. First he said they mean nothing, then he smiled and said
"Well, you are not allowed to know those secrets". Then Matt came in and
the first thing he said was "Where's Seth?" Then he asked "So you are all
on the list?" i said yeah and asked him if he was still reading it...he
said "Yeah i check it out alot". He signed my BiMH poster right on his
face, and added a silly smiley face. DeeDee asked straight out to Matt "Can
I lick you?" We were dying ;-) He laughed and we talked more. I squeezed
his bicep *sigh* and said "Keep reading the list - we are the true fans!"
And he smiled and said Yeah, you are the real fans." Then Chris came back
over and I asked how the tour was so far and I asked if I could see/touch
the fork around his neck. He smirked at me and said sure. It was *really*
cool up close. Then someone else must have mentioned licking to Chris, cuz
he yelled over to Matt, "Hey Matt, did you get licked yet?" It was
hysterical. There was more, but it is a blur. We took tons of pictures
with them. Then we had to go. I was the last one out of the room, and went
over to Matt and Chris and shook both hands again and said have a great
show. I will NEVER NEVER EVER EVER forget that moment cuz they both just
smiled at me and said Thanx so nicely and then Matt said have a good time
and take care! I could not believe how incredibly sweet those two were - so
very very normal and calm - it was almost too normal! And no, our group did
not get to meet Ben...i asked Matt where he was and he said "he is in there
tuning his bass and just being Ben."

It was truly amazing....they were every bit as cool in person as i always
hoped they would be....and chris was truly warm and outgoing and really
seemed to care about us. He is just beautiful....

I won't even get into the show, cuz it doesn't compare to meeting them, but
they ROCKED....Most everyone watched from the VIP balcony but DeeDee, Biff
and I made it onto the floor and managed to stay *fairly* safe in the pit.
Rusty Cage and OUtshined were the best, imho, as well as a cover of Helter
Skelter and a big surprise of Drawing Flies...looks like they are playing
different songs at each show on this tour! Who knows what tomorrow nite has
in store!! They were having *alot* of fun during the show, watching Chris
laughing and smiling was awesome...Ben flipped some people off...Matt just
rocked out of control, and Kim brought his dad on stage to introduce him!
Chris' voice was o.k. and no shirt came off (tho he pulled it up a few
times so we could see his belly ;-) but it was a great show. Tomorrow night
we are gonna try to get passes to the balcony and I will go that route next
time.

Gang,, it is totally impossible to describe in words what this night was
like.....Dee Dee, Kathie, Jamie, TOni, Biff, Aaron, Ben, Seth, Kate, Gonzo,
Vikki, Andrea, Bonnie, Joe, John, Rita, and everyone else i forgot, it was
TRULY wonderful to meet you all and share this experience with you! Being
able to thank Chris Cornell for his music was truly one of the most precious
moments of my life - and they were soooooo cool!!

Gotta go to sleep and get ready to rock again tomorrow night...

My only wish is that everyone could know how this all feels!!!
eliza,
more obsesed with SG than ever (and i did NOT thnk that was possible!!)

Subject: WHAT TO SAY, WHAT TO SAY

Ok....I'm sure enough people will have plenty to say, in detail, about the
chicago show, so rather than clutter it up, I'll try to sum it up, and let
the two-night people give you the whole low-down..........
Well, we met seth, which was cool.........very honored, to say the least.
We got backstage, which was cooler.....the band was very laid back.....I
asked chris if i could bother him for an autograph, and upon shaking my
hand, he said, "no problem, man...." so, attempting to appear somewhat at
ease with the fact that i was in THEIR presence, I said to him, "So you guys
like jamming at the aragon" (considering the last tour came through here
also), and Chris, looking right in my eyes, like a shamen or something,
says, "I don't know, I don't really remember the aragon last time....."
Very Morisson-esque quality about him (not that i knew morisson or
anything) but he had a mysterious aura about him....he looks you right in
the face, like he's analyzing every ember of your being......anyway, to keep
it relatively short......chatted with ben for quite a while, all in all
about 15 minutes in their dressing room.....got one of chris' guitar picks,
and my badmotorfinger liner notes signed by the whole band. the show was
fucking unbelieveable, they played almost everything, almost forever. They
played "The End" by the Doors, which put a very ironic twist on my night,
Outshined sounded unbelievable, and whatever...let everyone else have their
turn.....It was an experience to say the least. A cool night with cool
people and cool music......And I am unfortunately deaf, for that was the
LOUDEST fucking concert I have ever been to....but hey, you gotta suffer for
you love.....

Kim hated that video too. He said: "The video for this song was one
of the lamest ever made. It really sucked." It sounds like a typical 80s

Date sent: 10-NOV-1996 22:32:25

I went downtown today to look for Soundgarden records (and a new
distortion pedal, but that has nothing to do with this conversation.)
First I went to the mall... well both of them anyway. There were four
record shops, and all they had were the LPs (Like Ultramega OK, Louder Than
Love, Badmotorfinger.) Most of these were in CD format, which I hated,
because I prefer cassettes. There was no vinyl anywhere.
Then I went to Peacock record shop. (I get a discount there for being
a college student. :) ) They had hardly any Soundgarden cassettes, but
their CD selection was slightly better. That's where I got Songs From The
Superunknown. I have the only copy of that CD left in all of the city of
Plattsburgh.
I was SO disappointed that I couldn't find any vinyl. If I could just
get my mitts on Badmotorfinger/SOMMS or the vinyl Superunknown, I would be
happy. All the record shop had was the vinyl copies of Pearl Jam's new
album, Metallica: Load, and REM: New Adventures In Hi-Fi.
What happened to all the Soundgarden records? I know they exist,
because I hear about them all the time. Was a vinyl version of DOTU
released?
Also, does anyone know where I can get one of the color vinyl EPs?

which makes me think it was studio d which didn't quite work for
the band. normally the drums are the first instrumented to be recorded,
so if makes sense that they were recorded there and then the band moved
back to seattle to finish the recording. does that make sense?

There is a site on the site for the Ultimate Band List. The site you

Soundgarden) will list all CD titles that they can order for you. They
have BIMH, BHS, Pretty Noose, DOTU vinyl(which I love) and other pretty
SG related merchandise. T-shirts, calendars, you name it, they usually
have it. . .they can even list titles that are no longer available.

Subject: 10 TIMES BETTER THAN MTV!!!!

holy fucking god...i can barely write this...no words can describe it...this
was the 2nd best fucking night of my life!

highlights: I WAS ON STAGE FOR 2.5 SONGS!!!!! Erin brought us each back,
one at a time, to stand in the wings and watch the show.... I got to be
there for Boot Camp, RUSTY CAGE (DeeDee!!!!!), and half of Outshined. When
Chris went to change guitars, he walked right towards me, pointed at me and
smiled! Then Erin brought me over to be right behind Matt and watch him
during Rusty Cage - the man rocks up close!!! He looked over at us and
waved at me with his drumstick and gave me one of those smiles .....And Ben
was flipping everyone off and even aimed one in my direction ;-) Almost as
amazing as meeting them....watching them on stage was truly mindblowing.

THEN, i get back up to the VIP balcony right as CHRIS DEDICATES A SONG TO
US!!!!! Holy shit......All of a sudden he said something like "I want to
dedicate this song to the Sommsfest - they are the fan club mailing list and
they are the real fans" Then he pointed at the crowd and said "Well, you
are real fans too but these people came from all over the country and this
is for them, this is Black Hole Sun." AHHHHHHHHHHHHH In the middle of the
show, he remembered US!!! Thanks Seth, for making us so memorable...meeting
you was too cool for words ;-) It was the solo version of BHS, which made
it even better, and as Andrea said afterwards "I think we all feel
differently about BHS now!!!"

On top of all that, as if that wasnt enough, i must say that the band KICKED
MAJOR MAJOR ASS tonight!!! Last night was great, but it was a happy and fun
show with Chris smiling alot.....tonight was a PISSED OFF show, so DAMN
intense....they were all full of rage and played like i have never
seen...Ben was out of control, kicking shit and knocking stuff over and he
even spit on Seth ;-) Chris was so intense and he came back for the encore
shirtless! Tonight I would say Slaves and JCP were the absolute best - so
out of control. And they added in Mailman as an encore, which rocked.
Chris almost fell off the stage and i *think* i got a picture of it...He
told us he had a "swollen liver" hehe...He was hysterical - ranking big
time on the Bulls and Michael Jordan and he ended the show with something
about the 2nd coming of Christ??

On top of that, the Sommsters RULE!!!! You guys are awesome - i would not
have wanted to share this with any other group of people *GROUP HUG AND
SCREAM!*

And finally, before I pass out from emotional overload, i want to say a
HUGE and tremendous THANK YOU THANK YOU to Erin....she truly went way above
and beyond what we all could have dreamed of....and all she was concerned
about was whether WE were having fun!!! I was more than satisfied yesterday
after talking to Chris for 10 minutes...and then we got to go on stage
tonight...it was all amazing and thank you Erin for caring so much.....

OK, it is getting frustrating trying to convey this in words.....my life
will never be the same. Oh and if someone could write me and let me know if
my post from last night ever showed up....i heard it did not make it as of
today (?) - it was about my touching Chris' fork *deeeeep sigh*

From: Ben Timberlake <btimlake@nwu.edu>

Hey everyone,
I know everyone who was at Chicago SOMMSfest '96 will post a description
of events, so I'll add a couple personal notes. Well, first of all, it
was just great to meet everyone and cool to see Toni and Rita again.
I got to meet Kim's dad while we were up in the balcony. Kim brought his
dad out on stage. Mr. Thayil said he didn't usually like to do that. He
said he wasn't a big fan of the music, that it was too loud, but that he
liked seeing his son play. He was a really nice guy. Kinda short for
producing such large offspring. Maybe Kim's mom is really tall. Anyway, I
thanked him for bringing Kim into the world and told him it was nice
meeting him.
Also, having learned from my awful lolla experience, I tried a different
concert strategy than just hanging out up front.
On Saturday night, I just hung in the balcony with other sommsters, which
was a nice view, but not the energetic concert experience I knew I could
have. So, Sunday night I started about midway back the hall from the
stage (say, 50 feet). I worked my way up during the show, which wasn't
difficult, because the crowd left large pockets of space.
By the encores (Mailman, JCP), I was just a couple people from the front.
I was squished and couldn't get my arms down, but for just two songs,
that was fine. I tried to protect smaller people around me from some of
the moshing.
Actually, I have to say that there was a lot less moshing and crowd
surfing than I expected, which was a GOOD thing. In fact, I was only
kicked in the head once (It's kinda sad when you lower your standards,
isn't it?).
I was on the right side of the stage where Ben hung out most of the time.
At the beginning of the show, Ben kicked a stage light in, I think
because his cord got caught on it. He then knocked over a couple speakers
and then stood on the speakers on which the knocked over ones had rested
so that the techs couldn't put the ones he knocked over back up (does
that make sense?). I also had a little staring match with him. I won, I
think, but maybe he just got bored. Or maybe he was staring at some
weaker soul who conceded victory.
Suffice to say, It was a great two nights. I'll probably toss in more as
people give their various reports of events.

person will maybe be rude to them or be drunk or be acting in a way that
they don't agree with or dislike and they won't like that artist anymore.
I don't think that's fair. I don't think art has anything to do with the
individual that creates the art as far as you have to agree with the
person to like the art that person creates."

I'm not necessarily agreeing with it. Just tossing in a band member's say

hair. He can always wear a ponytail like on the picture inside UMOK.

Secondly, thank you dee dee for spelling yall right! Someone else spelt
it right as well on Saturday's digest. Yay!!!! what a birthday gift!

Ok, how readily available is this details magazine thingy?

and i don't want to reiterate a thread that should not be still beating us
over the head, but about the lack of security thing: i saw athenaeum at
the cradle sat night (they just signed w/ atlantic, yay!!!!)(the opening
band, five eight, was really amazing. i had a six minute conversation w/
the guitarist about what kind of strings he used) and there was relatively
no security there. the thing was--it wasn't needed! The crowd was
respectful of the bands and everything you could ask for from a crowd--and
although five eight could have inspired moshing, not enough people got
their in time to see them. The place didn't expect anything to be out of
hand, and therefore they didn't prepare for it. ok, that's all for today.
i think. laters. -j

Subject: Chicago SOMMSfest

Hopefully you aren't all sick of reading about Chicago yet, but you know
how it is.

I enjoyed the meeting at Moody's. Its really cool how when you meet
people you've been writing to so often it feels really comfortable. I
felt like I already knew everyone and felt perfectly comfortable (which
for me is unusual when I meet new people). And Erin is really great. She
did everything in her power to make this night a fun night to remember,
and believe me we all will! I hope Seth writes a full account of all
that happened for him. He's got some story!

When we got to the Aragon we must have looked like a bunch of real
newbies. Sure we've been to concerts, but this was a different routine.
After being shuffled from window to door to window several times we
finally got our passes. It wasn't that the people at the Aragon weren't
helpful, it just seemed like they were irritated that we didn't know
exactly what to do. I mean God, we were all so nervous! Anyway, we
finally got our passes and then went to walk in. Most of us didn't want
to take the passes off the backings and stick them to us because we
wanted to save them. But, they made us put them on as we walked in. Then
after we got in we stood around again like a bunch of nervous lost souls
(it was pretty obvious that none of us had been through a "groupie"
period). My husband finally had to go looking for the backstage
entrance, but Erin found us and rushed us to where we had to be, telling
us we were going to be meeting them in their DRESSING ROOM, reminding us
that we needed to be respectful of their space because this wasn't
something they did all the time. We were all so in awe of the whole
situation that I'm sure none of us would have even thought of being
disrespectful, but I guess you never know. This dressing room
arrangement made me so nervous my mouth went dry! Erin took us
backstage, where we had to wait for the first band to get off the stage
(first getting to see OUR guys walk through the shadows to get to their
dressing room) all the while staring at the sign handwritten on what
looked like typing paper saying "Soundgarden dressing room" with an
arrow pointing up the stairs (and yes, we even got pictures of that).
Then we walked up the stairs and entered the dressing room.

I was kind of disappointed at the way Kim just breezed through, but from
where I was standing I could see further into the dressing room and
could see him in there relaxing on a couch after he was done with us.
But Chris and Matt - they were the absolute best. I always figured Matt
as being super nice and he is, but Chris was a very pleasant surprise.
He was very much at ease, and totally open and friendly. God he has
beautiful eyes, so open and honest. Let me tell you my little moment of
glory (thank you Dee Dee for letting us all tell our stories). Friday
night I was grinding up the last of my Halloween pumpkins and had
decided to make pumpkin bread. I had been wracking my brain trying to
think of something to give the guys and then a light bulb went off -
maybe they would like some homemade pumkin bread. My husband laughed,
saying they'd probably throw it out, afraid of being poisoned. Well, I
had the pumpkin bread in a gift bag (security really smirked at that)
and after shaking Chris' hand and telling him how much I have always
loved his lyrics and how much all of us appreciate Soundgarden's music
(Vikki is right, he is a good listener, and was very patient with all of
us) I said I had something for him and gave him the bag. He looked
inside and I told him what it was and he looked up with a big smile on
his face and said "Thank you, that is so nice" and I thought I would
absolutely melt! After that I felt like a babbling idiot, but luckily he
was moving on. Then I got Matt's autograph and I wanted to shake his
hand but both our hands were full and I think he knew I wanted to shake
his hand because we kind of went back and forth with our full hands
until I finally grabbed the pen and said "Can I shake your hand?" and he
smiled and said "Sure". I am still totally blown away at how great Chris
and Matt were. I will never forget that. And it made me respect them
even more. I really don't think Chris pays much attention to ANY of the
web pages, though, because when someone (I won't give away Eliza's part)
asked something about the official page he truly looked like he didn't
know what anyone was talking about. And I agree with Dee Dee. Chris is
definitely perfectly healthy. They all look great. God, just writing
this I can feel the excitement all over again. They didn't have to be so
nice (Kim and Ben certainly weren't).

Watching the show from VIP seating was really nice, not only because I
could actually see the band without getting pushed and shoved (I like to
listen with my eyes closed at times, to just absorb it all, and getting
shoved is a drag when you're lost in the music like that) but we could
also see the whole crowd below us. At first I was scared for them,
because it seemed like the entire floor was about to explode into a
massive mosh pit, but I was impressed to see the crowd itself contain
the moshers to two pits, near the center of the floor. People who wanted
to just watch and listen were actually able to maintain the area
immediately in front of the stage, and they just passed the body
surfer's forward into the waiting arms of security, who put them down
and sent them on their way. I was glad to be where I was, though,
especially when Erin tapped me on the shoulder and told me to follow
her. I passed Seth and he said "She's going to take you onstage" and I
thought "Oh no, what does that mean!" Erin walked me up onto the side of
the stage where the soundboard and extra guitars etc. are. Boy, the
floor really vibrates! From where I was standing I could see Chris, Ben
and Kim and got to see Chris do a cool monologue about pain (I would
love it if someone got all or most of what he said) and then Erin walked
me back a bit further so I could see Matt. This was really a cool thing
for her to think of doing for us, but I felt totally out of place, until
she walked me out and all these people are standing there at the
barracades looking at me and wondering who I was to have had that
privelege. Then I felt pretty cool.

I haven't even mentioned the actual music yet. I have never seen
Soundgarden do a better show. Chris was totally on, having fun,
bantering with the audience. I am still in awe of his performance - it
was incredible! I would have given anything to be able to videotape the
whole thing. Even Ben smiled a couple times! He didn't seem as surly as
he has at other shows. I haven't seen Soundgarden in concert since 1992
and in those four years they have grown amazingly as performers. This
was definitely one of the best concerts I have ever experienced. And
thanks to Erin and Silver Management I was able to do something I have
dreamed of doing for so many years. And on top of it all I was able to
do it with a truly great group of people. I will never forget this
concert.

okay, so what i am seeing here is that the shows have rocked, and that
everyone getting to meet the guys has been really cool. that kind of
surprises me (pleasantly, of course). i have some friends who just signed
with epic, a band called Getaway Cruiser, and they are already a little
sick of people coming up and meeting them and saying how great they are,
yada yada yada. anyway, a few questions. there seems to be some
disagreement, but is the floor general admission or no? are they using a
bracelet system for those on the floor if it is, or is it relatively easy
to get people down there? we have floor seats, but we have some friends
who do not. also, is anyone else going to be in the floor area, or if not,
and if it is possible to sneak people onto the floor, maybe we can set
something up to get you down there. we have four tickets for the floor
area, so maybe you can make it down with our ticket stubs or some such
thing. innovation, lets think innovation.

also, i was just reading the rolling stone with eddie "wuss" vedder on the
cover, and i notcied in an early picture of pearl jam, both jeff ament and
mike mccready are wearing SG shirts, although i can't tell which shirt
ament is wearing. i know i've seen that graphic before. anyway, if anyone
can answer any of these questions for me, i would appreciate it.

I thought Chris did look nervous when he was on SNL. After he performed
Pretty Noose he seemed to breath a sigh of relief. I taped the show and
after watching it many times noticed that Chris puts his hand to his chest
a gesture that seems to say "It's over. I got thru it without screwing
up." I think he was nervous because SG rarely does anything on TV (except
for MTV) and SNL is also live. I would be nervous too! I'll have to
check out Singles again and see if he is also nervous there. Nancy

Subject: yet another survey

With all the talk about the BUTOW video I wondered what everyone's
favorite SG video is and what their least favorite SG video is?

Also, to anyone who got to hear Chris on Rock 103.5 on Sunday, what did
you think of the interview? I thought it was great. He was only on for
40 minutes or so, but there were no commercials and they only played one
SG song. The rest was talk, talk, talk. (And yes, Chris does like to talk
a lot. ) It was great to hear what exactly the BUTOW video was about
directly from him along with hearing about their past and how success has
been to the group. He should do more interviews like this. I always
wondered in written articles about the band just how much they actually
did say and what was edited out. I only wish they allowed some phone
calls. I was all ready to talk to him.

BTW, I am extremely jealous of all you people who got to go to the Chicago
shows. I couldn't go and was very bummed out about it all weekend. I was
feeling slightly better on Monday but when I came to school and read about
how great the show was and getting to meet the group, well you made it
even worse. Of course if I had met Chris I would have died, so at least
I'm still alive now.

- ---------------------
Encore:
*Mailman-OH MY GOD!!!
*Jesus Christ Pose-amazing drum solo by Matt leading into the beginning

Ok, now that that's over with, here's my review (I did take pictures from
really close up):
About 2 hours before I left, I checked my mail and found out we were
going to get backstage passes for the Sunday show too!(I didn't go to the
saturday show, so I almost wet my pants!) When I got to the Aragon, I went
to the will call office and they told me to go to the guest list lady. So I
went to her and asked her for my backstage pass, and she didn't have any of
the Sunday SOMMSsters on the list (I had met up with Andri at this point).
I knew something would go wrong like that, not criticizing Silver
Management, just criticizing my luck. So I brushed it off feeling happy
that I would still be able to see Soundgarden.
We got into the ballroom and went to a fairly close position to the
stage, dead center. We met a lot of people while waiting for Tenderloin to
come on. When Tenderloin came on, I thought it was Blues Traveler! Their
lead singer looked just like him when I first caught a glimpse of him.
Then, after a while, he reminded me of the fat kid in the movie, 'The
Sandlot'. I took like 2 or 3 pictures of them. Overall, Tenderlion was
pretty annoying, especially when the singer took his shirt off and started
posing his obese body in the spotlight! I got pictures of that! And for
one of the last songs that Tenderloin did, Ben Shepard came on stage and
played guitar.
Next up was Rocket From the Crypt. When they came on stage, I knew
I was doomed! They all came out in these shiny matching outfits. I
couldn't stand these guys. None of them took off their shirts like the
Tenderloin singer, which, in fact, I DIDN'T LIKE! But I didn't really like
their style that much.
Right after Rocket left the stage, everyone started pushing towards
the front. It was mainly these two big guys that were total drunk idiots
pushing everyone around so they could get a space for them big enough to fit
their huge beer bellies!
It was getting tighter and tighter and finally, Soundgarden took the
stage. I was about five rows back from the front right in between
Kim(sproting a Corrosion of Conformity shirt) and Chris(wearing a plain
white t-shirt). When they opened with Spoonman, the crowd went wild. There
was a big mosh pit right next to my friends and I so we made our way to the
guard rail a few feet away from us (it was tough!). In the middle of
SWMGEC, my friends couldn't take the squish anymore, so they left, but I
stayed. Let me Drown trough Never Named was the height of the squeezing,
but I stayed through it with my lifelong companion, the guard rail. I had a
great spot and could see everything. When they announced they were going to
play Ty Cobb and Never Named, I was like 'Oh no, I know I'm not going to
survive!' But I did. Anybody know what that Creatures song was?
Boot Camp was one of the best! I loved singing along to Helter
Skelter. It was a great improv in the beginning leading into the song. My
total total favorites of the night were Drawing Flies, Mailman, and Jesus
Christ Pose. I sang along with every song, even though it's hard to do it
with Chris! And guess what for all you woo girls?! (shroom specifically ;))
Chris revealed the mighty chest for the encore!
I actually liked the security guards there. They were doing the
best job they could do. They gave us lots of water when we needed it, and
one security guard was nice enough to take a few pictures for me really
close. I thought he was taking it away from me, but he was really cool!
Finally, near the end, somebody got so mad that he punched the beer belly
guy that I talked about before that was pushing everyone around! Kudos to
the guy who did it! The 6'5" beer belly pussy didn't even fight back! He
stopped pushing after that.
So, after I develop my pictures, I'll tell you guys and I will put
them on my web page. This concert was one of the most amazing ones I've
been to. I have to give a great thanks to Kathie and Erin (who I talked to
for like 5 seconds after the show)who tried to get the Sunday-only
SOMMSsters backstage, it was a good effort, but it just didn't pull through.
I would have loved to meet Soundgarden, but I am still happy with what I
recieved yesterday night-an awesome concert that I will never forget.

The following is a review from Nov. 11, 1996 Chicago Tribune:

"The most headbanging of the major bands to emerge from Seattle in the =
early 90s, Soundgarden's success has rested on its ability to rework =
familiar Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath formulas with economy, smarts and =
introspective tunefulness. At the first of two sold-out Aragon shows, =
however, the band's heavy metal thunder weighed down its songs, helped no =

was reduced to a careening lurch, and band leader Chris Cornell tossed =
off an unaccompanied, incomplete version of the band's biggest hit, =
'Black Hole Sun.' Soundgarden instead fell back on sludgy, lumbering =
riffasaurs ('Outshined') and bombing raids ('No Attention'). Cornell =
mixed stentorian vocals and howls of rage while Kim Thayil added wiggy =
guitar licks, and Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron provided rhythmic wallop. =

Hi, like i said i'm pretty new here so i didn't get to be in on the
whole backstage deal but the shows were incredibly anyway. Seth,
that was YOU who got spit on while taking the picture on Sunday?
I was the guy who said "You're so cool!" and patted you on the back.
Man! i am totally in love with Ben Shepherd now! The first night
was a great show, i made Ben laugh because i was smiling at him and
he smiled and then i made kind of a "Hater" face and he laughed.
So i left thinking i was all cool. BUT! The second night i decided
to go even further to the right (i got in line about four both nights
so i could be up front, but the first night got kind of pushed a
little back) and i HELD ON to the bars standing by my little brother
and we didnt' let bad mean people push us away. we froze our tushies
off to stand where we were! :) but Ben remembered me! he pointed
and smiled and stuff. i know that all sounds kind of cheezy but
THIS is not: when chris threw out these t-shirts (stupid mancow
103.5 shirts i thought they were the soundgarden caricature shirts)
and i didn't get one i looked up and saw that ben was looking at
me and i kind of shrugged my shoulders and made an "oh well" face
and he laughed and then went back and picked up a shirt and handed
it right to me! when everyone grabbed at it he pointed right and
(sorry, pointed right at) me and said that's for you! i was so so
happy! then at the end of the song (outshined) he leaned about five
feet over just to shake my hand! i was so ecsatic because i have
been a huge ben fan ever since i realized that he wrote the coolest
songs in the band and was in hater which is my second favorite band
ever right under sunny day real estate and right past soundgarden.
Ben sat there with his hand out waiting patiently for me to reach
out and finally be able to grab his hand! it was like he actually
liked me or something! :) that was my coolest concert experience
ever, and then watching ben knock over that speaker that was taller
than he was and totally make fun of the huge bouncer who got scared
out of his mind when if fell. it was awesome. and he played bass
for an entire song using only his middle finger! i always thought
it would be so cool to see him so close and it really was. he kept
marching around swinging his entire legs up over his waist like
jack pumpkinhead in "a nightmare before christmas" so much fun,
so much fun. and he came out and played with tenderloin the second
night when people started being mean to them. i completely disagree
with anyone who says he is a jerk at concerts! the rest of the band
was awesome too i think they just made slaves and bulldozers my favorite
song after that sunday night version! alright thanks for reading
this sorry i couldn't meet all of you and seth if that was you then
i'm glad i kind of got to meet you! i love you all.

Hey everybody, guess who I got to meet this weekend....SETH!!!
oh yeah, I got to meet Soundgarden too.
Just kidding! I only got to go to the sat show, but that was more than
enough. NW Iowa is a long ways from Chi-town.
First I wnat to say that meeting the other SOMMSters was the awsome.
Just that we can all come together like that and act like we've known eachother
for ever is the coolest. Also huge thanx to Erin, 'cause my dumb ass didn't
have ID and left his damn t-shirt in the dressing room 'cause he had his head
up his ass.
Also thanks to Kathie (need I say why?) and Aaron and Eliza for keeping
me off the street. But DeeDee, Ben, John, Eliza, Kathie, Jamie, Gonzo,
Big Joe, the Seattle coalition, everybody (sorry if I forgot, it's been a long
weekend), and most especially Seth, you guys are too cool!!! SOMMS kicks ass!
I don't have any cool stories about the dressing room except for being
laughed at about being from Iowa, and I'm almost positive I saw *someone*, but
I forget who, slip Matt some contraband in a little napkin.
The whole thing was too awsome, words are hard too find. The floor was
rough but some of us (huge thumbs up too DeeDee and Liza) braved it and
returned alive and almost unscathed. Chris was really wound up, that was cool
'cause we usually don't see that side of him.
Everything was really cool, but I gotta say, next to meeting the band,
Moody's was the best. Just to meet you all, and see your faces made my
weekend.
If you were there, lucky you. If you weren't you'll get your chance.
See you all later.

Swallow My Pride was first performed by Green River. I think it's
been played by three bands: Green River, Soundgarden, and The Fastbacks.

I haven't got my review of the weekend together yet BUTT I did need to
speak up for Kim. Yes, he did come and go quickly but he did sign
everything that everyone gave him, he did let me take his picture(I asked

asked him to sign on my paper. He had family in the back of the dressing
room which he returned to after he signed everything. Also, this weekend was
Diwali which is a holiday for Indians...prehaps kim doesn't celebrate but
his family might and he was visiting and being festive with them. So I
don't begrudge him for not staying as long as Chris and Matt!! At least he
came out........ more later. Oh Goody!! you're all saying more Chicago

I always thought that was pretty cool about "Swallow My Pride", i know
Green River had two separate versions of it (one on Come on Down and the
other on Rehab Doll), then there is Soundgarden's version (of course) and
the Fastbacks (on Sub Pop 200) and there is also this version with some of
the members of Mudhoney and Pearl Jam after Green River broke up, this live
version that is on last year's pearl jam christmas single. And that demo
or whatever is on the Hype! soundtrack. i think that is one of Green
River's best songs.

one of the best that I can come up with is the one I actually saw
them perform here in 1994. on january 20 of that year at the roxy in
brisbane, soundgarden played in no particular order:

jesus christ pose, slaves and bulldozers, I awake, flower,
incessant mace, hands all over, gun, rusty cage, get on the snake,
spoonman, mind riot, fell on black days, swmgec, room a 1000 years wide,
hunted down and somewhere.

have any listers been witness to a better set than that? I felt
it was a particularly good one because they played stuff from all their
records; some of which they haven't performed for a *long* time. there
could be a couple of reasons why they did so (first ever show in
australia; first show of 94 world tour), but whatever the reason, it
certainly made for a great show :)

Hey folks - back to the real world, and I am still sick to my stomach
from the whole thing.....i have never had such an emotionally draining
day as today, driving back from Chicago after the most amazing few
days ever.....Everytime I hear Soundgarden now, I cry!!!

Anyway, on to the post below.....if you guys read what happened to me
in the room with the guys, I mentioned that I asked Matt about the
list.... He said he checks it out "alot" - in fact, he knew some
people's names because of it...we all knew he had read it in the past
but didnt know if he still was, and so I asked. When I left I told
him not to give up on reading us, and he said he wouldn't, that he
gets a total kick out of it and said "And then I get to meet you
people!".........and yes, Chris didnt even know what the bugs were on
the official page - he is not into it. But obviously they still care
enough to do all they did. We got the red carpet treatment and I
don't think it will ever quite sink in....THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Yes, i definitely think it was because his family was there....it was
much more than his dad - lots of friends and family cuz he was in
Chicago....He was the first one out, so he was not AT ALL rude, he
just was hurrying to go deal with his family. He talked to the second
group more. As for Ben, well he was not in a social mood for our
group, but hung out with the 2nd group so who knows? i think he is
psychic, somehow he knew the second group was full of all the Seattle
people who were at the Hater show and wanted to talk to him about
it!!! (i'll save that scoop for them ;-)

Um, i don't think anyone would guess we would have.....we all love the
band for some very deep reasons - not because they are teen idols and
we are star struck.....The Chicago Sommsfest consisted of some of the
most wonderful, mature, devoted, and AWESOME people I have ever met,
and i think that is why we continued to get the amazing treatment we
got.....I hope that *noone* on this list would be a psycho fan in
front of this band - they are WAY too cool and normal and nice and
they deserve and command a TON of respect........ if you treat them
well, they (obviously) treat you well back,,,,

Actually, I thought it kind of sucked.... I didnt learn anything that
I hadn't heard already. It did NOT suck because of Chris - I would
listen to him talk about anything. But the interviewer was horrible
and I think we heard more about HIS life than Chris' life!!!
Actually, last night Aaron and I were sitting in the balcony and he
was sitting next to the woman from A&M Records who had taken Chris
around to the interview. She said that Chris had said that the guy
was "dumb". I thought that was funny - and then found out that the

interesting was that Chris said he is currently reading "tragic rock
stories" on the road....

or anything. I have to say that all the SOMMStersI had the pleasure of
meeting were really sweet and much cooler than I ever could've imagined
(including SETH). Next I must thank Erin because she took me back Sunday
night BY MYSELF to meet the band. I had them ALL TO MYSELF!!!! And thank
you to Vikki for letting be borrow her camera. I owe you one! I am still
in a daze and I was so honored that Chris dedicated BHS to US!!!!! He's
the coolest (although I thought he was gone after he fell over the
speaker during Ty Cobb). I'm sure you'll hear all the details, but I just
HAD to mention that I met them all by myself (with Erin of course). (And
I was dubbed "THE fan" of the night).

Here is that scoop, for anyone who can still bear to read about this

When talking to Chris I was staring at the fork for about ten minutes
- it was half under his shirt and half sticking out. I was dying to
see it up close but too chicken shit to ask. Then at then end, I had
about 1 minute alone (it could have been 10 seconds or 10 minutes - i
lost all concept of time) with Matt and Chris (I just stood there,
ignoring the guy who told us it was time to go) and we were chatting
about the list and the show, etc. and I asked Chris if I could see the
fork. Dont worry everyone, it was very respectful - i told him that I
always thought it was so cool looking in pictures and wondered what it
looked like up close and after so much wear and tear. He said "Sure"
and smiled a huge and beautiful smile. So I held the fork in my hand
and looked at it - it was SO cool. I was so touched as to how warm
and open and friendly he was - i expected him to be more of an
introvert in a one-on-one situation and he really made me/us feel like
we were old friends! ..! ..

still completely floored and missing the Chicago sommsters already :-(((

<grinning>

As most of you know by now, I flew to Chicago this weekend to catch
both shows and join SOMMSfest '96, thanks to Silver Management. It was
great meeting everyone and the experience was unforgettable. I'll try
to keep this short, since you've already heard most of the details
from other people who were there.

November 09
- -----------

I updated the Web page at 3:30am, hoping to reinforce the fact that I
wasn't going anywhere so it would be a surprise when I showed up at
the gathering. I flew to Chicago later that morning and met Erin at
her hotel in the early afternoon, since we were going to show up at
the gathering together. I saw Kim and Ben in the hotel and said
hello. I think (hope) the surprise worked well when we got the Moody's
pub, and I had a great time talking to the list members there.

Meeting the band was really cool. Apparently Ben wasn't around for the
first group that went upstairs, but he was there for the second group,
and so was Kim, though not for very long. Kim walked up, extended his
hand, and said "I want to thank you for your accuracy." I asked all 4
band members to sign my Pretty Noose 7" for my brother, which they all
did. I got a chance to talk to Matt for a few minutes about the Hater
Web page and stuff and I spent the rest of the time running around the
room taking pictures of everything (forgetting that one whole wall of
the room was a mirror, so I'm sure a whole bunch of my photos are just
going to be bright white). Kim left pretty quickly, because as someone
else pointed out, his father was at the show. All 4 guys were really
nice and I think they signed everything that we brought.

After all 20 of us had met the band, Erin gave us the option of
watching the show from the balcony to avoid the scene in the pit,
which most of us chose to do. She then went far beyond what any of us
expected and brought each of us down to the right wing of the stage to
watch a few minutes up close. If there's one thing this weekend taught
me, it was that the management really does care about the fans. I
don't think ay of us expected to be treated as well as we were.

The show was amazing. Since the only times I've seen SG prior to
Saturday were when they opened for GN'R in 1991 and at Lolla this past
summer, the contrast between those shows and this one where they were
the headliners was incredible. The sound in the Aragon is horrendous,
but the music made its point. All of the guys were really into it,
with Ben swinging his bass around like a madman and even Kim moving
around and striking some Guitar God poses. The set list was (and I
copied most of this from the set list taped to one of the cases when I
was on the side of the stage):

Spoonman
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Let Me Drown
Pretty Noose
Burden In My Hand
My Wave
Ty Cobb
An Unkind/Never Named
Fell On Black Days
Waiting For the Sun/Helter Skelter
Boot Camp
Rusty Cage
Black Hole Sun
Outshined
Blow Up The Outside World
Drawing Flies
Dusty
Slaves & Bulldozers
- --------
No Attention
Jesus Christ Pose

Before Blow Up The Outside World, they show a film with images that I
guess are from the video (Mother, Father, Country, Love, Enemy,
Happiness, Me). Boot Camp starts with a long jam. The highlight of the
show for me came during one of the songs from BMF, I believe (I don't
eve remember which one, though) -- Kim, Chris, and Ben all jumped and
landed on the beat together in what looked like a perfectly
choreographed move. There was a lot of friendly talking and grinning
on the part of Ben and Kim, who just seemed surprised that the crowd
was enjoying the show so much. Great show.

November 10
- -----------

I showed up to the venue early and caught a few minutes of the sound
check, including a *thundering* version of Mailman (nobody in the hall
to absorb the sound), which I was hoping they would play later. Chris
also played through a few seconds of the openings of Burden In My Hand
and Black Hole Sun. Erin told me that the guys were more subdued on
the bus on the way over to the Aragon than they were the day before,
so I assumed the show would be slightly less intense.

Boy, was I wrong.

Their set was *superb*. They tore through virtually the same set as
the previous night (with a few changes; see below), but the energy was
much higher. I had a photo pass for Sunday night, which meant I could
shoot from the space between the stage and the rail holding the crowd
back for the first 4 songs (I shot 47 frames; hopefully, some of them
will come out, though I wasn't allowed to use a flash, so we'll see
what happens. If I get approval from the management, they will be on
the Web page.). And yes, that was Ben spitting on me. I looked up at
him and he just grinned and spit at me (he missed). The set list for
Sunday's show (which is not exactly what was on the printed set list):

Spoonman
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Let Me Drown
Pretty Noose
Burden In My Hand
My Wave
Ty Cobb
Never Named
Fell On Black Days
Boot Camp
Rusty Cage
Black Hole Sun
Outshined
Blow Up The Outside World
Drawing Flies
Dusty
Slaves & Bulldozers
- --------
Mailman
Jesus Christ Pose

They were absolutely fucking *AMAZING* Sunday night. Highlights:

* Ben putting his bass down and *tap dancing* in the middle of one of
the songs. No explanation. He's crazy. :)

* Ben toppling two of the 8-foot venue speakers and standing in their
place so the crew couldn't stand them up again.

* Ben hiding down behind the toppled speakers during the intro to
Jesus Christ Pose, holding his bass like a machine gun.

* The 10-minute jam in the middle of Slaves & Bulldozers. Amazing.

* Chris telling the crowd to yell "Soundgarden are cocks" and "Seattle
basketball sucks" and then replying with "At least our players don't
appear in movies with cartoon characters."

The true highlight of the weekend for me was watching Matt from the
stage on Suday night -- Matt has cymbals roughly arranged (from his
perspective) at noon, one, two, and three o'clock, and I was standing
at about 2:30, watching his every move. I've never seen anyone stare
at an instrument they way he stares at his cymbals. During Blow Up The
Outside World, which I previously thought had a pretty simple and
uninteresting drum part, Matt showed such poise and restraint that I
nearly fell over anticipating each crash. He would turn and glare
right at the cymbal at 2:00, then wait until the very last second and
hit it with such precision... Same thing during Rusty Cage -- I've
never seen such intensity in anyone's eyes before.

Of course, watching Matt do Jesus Christ Pose is every Soundgarden
fan's dream -- I couldn't fllow all 15 of his limbs at once, but the
few that I could see were doing totally different things
simultaneously. Amazing.

And the best part of all: during one of the songs towards the end of
the set, possibly during Drawing Flies or Dusty, the drumstick in his
right hand slipped out and flew towards my side of the stage. It seems
that Matt keeps extra sticks right in front of his snare just for this
reason. Now picture this in slow motion (hopefully I can explain this
well): He's beating the snare violently; his right hand comes down and
as the stick hits the snare it flies out of his hand; without even
blinking or flinching *at all*; his right hand continues its
trajectory downward and comes up with a brand new stick. He *DOESN'T
MISS A SINGLE BEAT*. I was floored. I can't imagine ever being
coordinated enough to pull that off. Incredible.

What a weekend. :)

More later.

drained and not really looking too forward to the 2nd show for fear
the it might "pale" in comparison - HA!!!! I will speak on behalf of
the crew of Sommsters and say that not only was the band more keyed up
on Sunday, but so were we!!! Sat. night I was in the pit but barely
broke a sweat . Last night in the balcony, i was a mad woman and
drenched - we were all rocking out of our minds.......it was SG's
energy - they did it to us... and i will totally agree with Seth that
they were great Sat, night but last night they were "absolutely
fucking *AMAZING*

It's like... THE Seattle song of the 1980's I think everyone has played it
at least once.

Ummmm... no ;)

I liked 200 better... All the artists I bought it for already had that
material on other CDs, I wish more of the stuff from the movie was included
including that version of "Searching..." which is soooooooooooooooooooooo
good. And that first version of "Smells like Teen Spirit"

Anyone from TO that knows about the parking situation...please email

Well people I got tickets to the Melbourne Festival Hall show yesterday.
I'm a bit disappointed with the spot but what they hey, I'm going to see
my first sg show!

I went into BASS on Friday and asked about the show and said they knew
nothing about it and they would definitely not be on sale on Monday
because Bryan Adams was. So I didn't go and line up and all early, I
would have of course. I had an exam at lunchtime and when I got home
about 3 o'clock I checked my mail and a friend from Melbourne told me
she'd just got her tickets that morning. Now that ticked me off that
they were on sale!

General Admission was sold out so I had to settle for seats. I'd say
it'll definitely be totally sold out, probably today. The tickets were
$40.50, that's not bad I guess.

Anyone else going to see the Jan 26th show then?
Well cya later, I can't wait!

well, we've all seen this sort of thing before. some guy goes to
the show or hears the album without really knowing any of the band's songs
(or anything about them at all for that matter), and then proceeds to give
some lame ass review. maybe I give him too little credit. from his review,
it looks like he *did* ask his editor for spending money so he could go
out and hear dotu, because he does talk about dusty (maybe the band
reworked the song, kevin. did you ever think of that?) and rhinosaur
(after a fashion). but that hardly counts.

it is his first sentence that really gives everything away,
however. if he was truly a critic with some real knowledge of music, he
would understand that soundgarden don't simply "rework...familiar led
zeppelin and black sabbath formulas" at all. it seems to me that most
trashy music journalists just throw their hands up in the air when it
comes to describing soundgarden, and tend to rest on their tired old
comparisons to led zep and black sabbath. someone should put that to rest
(I know that band have been trying to since 1989 or so). while they do
have their influences, soundgarden are definitely a singular occurrence in
the music world.

but then again, he did note that they are intelligent <shrugging>.

Alex mentioned that she preferred vinyl records to CDs or cassettes.
This is probably because records give a really cool crackly organic sound
when you play them.
I personally prefer cassettes for a couple of reasons. First of all,
cassettes are cheaper than CDs. Secondly, with a CD it's easy to skip to
the hit song on the album without listening to the rest of the songs. It's
harder to do that with cassettes. Lastly, cassettes are far more durable
than CDs. If you even get a scratch on a CD it is ruined. I once
accidentally stepped on my Toadies album, crushing the entire side in. THE
TAPE STILL WORKS! My Temple Of The Dog tape was thrown against the wall
once by a jerk at work. Even though the entire insides are exposed, with a
big chuck torn off the front, it works like a charm.
That's why I try to get cassettes all the time. I'm a complete
klutz. :) (Except on guitar.)
I bought my "Songs From The Superunknown" EP in CD format, and I'm
constantly worried I'm going to break it by accident. I'm going paranoid
from just one CD!

Gee, what can be said that hasn't been said already? Well, I don't care if
it's been said already, I'm gonna say it again. Erin is SO FUCKING COOL!!!
There should be a national holiday in her honor. Well, we can change today,
Veteran's day, to Erin's Day.

Now, on to my little stories. Everyone was really cool, which goes without
saying though. Anyways, when I met Kim backstage in the dressing room, I said
hi and told him I'm the one who started the KTMS. His eyes got real big and
he said,"Wow man, that's really cool. You should go out and slap Heather
Mifflin for me, she deserves it. She's the kind of woman who is gonna get
slapped alot more in her lifetime." HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE THIS MAN?!?!?!?!

Ben: Super Cool. I talked to him the longest. I told him I went to the Hater
show and that it was a cool show except for a few assholes in the crowd. I
asked if it was actually Daniel House who he beat up and he said, "No, it was
just some fuck in the crowd. I feel real bad about Dan, cause when I jumped
into the crowd, some girl got pushed and the back of her head busted up his
face. I really need to learn to control that. Then some assholes were trying
to start shit with my younger brother after the show, so I had to throw their
asses out too." Now you know why I made him an honorary member of the KTMS.
Ben was super nice and alot of fun.

Matt was really cool too. I didn't bother him much because he and Seth had
just started talking. But Matt was as nice as ever.

Chris was really cool as well. He was really impressed with those of us who
flew out from Seattle just to see them. I even think I heard him say "Wow,
that's pretty stupid", jokingly of course.

Frank from Rocket From The Crypt was really cool. HI FRANK!!! Everyone say hi
to Frank.

Sharon from A&M was really cool too. Thank you for all you are doing/did
Sharon. Well, for me at least. :-P

Everyone on the list should have the opportunity to meet Seth. One HELLUVA
guy. He's also a babe magnet. If you need a date, go hang out with Seth.
Women just flock towards him. (Seriously! I wouldn't lie about anything like
this) Ask anyone, they will tell you the same.

I'm sure alot more will come back as I regain consciousness. I need a
vacation to relax after my vacation in Chicago.

Oh yeah, Hi Ben, Medium Joe, Biff, Toni, Kathie, Rita, Eliza, DD, Kate, and
the rest of which I WILL remember, just not now, as I am about to pass out.
On that note, I'll talk to ya later.

19 Waltham show which I am looking to unload. Anyone interested please
email me (tealyf@ix.netcom.com). I'm also wondering if anyone has extra
tix to the Roseland shows for the 15th, 16th or 17th.

A few things. First off, I'd like for everyone to quit fretting
over Cornell's svelteness. It's so unnecessary. Those of you who
express this concern are probably the same people who got all bent out
of shape over Kate Moss' appearance. Fathom this concept: SKINNY DOES
NOT NECESSARILY EQUAL SICK. As a skinny person myself, I find all the
concern rather condescending. So knock it off.

Also ... sommsters frequently offer their opinion here of which SG
album they consider to be the band's best. Occasionally, not too often
but every once in a while, someone will dial in with Louder Than Love
as their fave. Now, I'm not saying LTL's not a fine album (it is), but
how in the world can anyone say it's their best? Better than BMF? DOTU?
SUPERUNKNOWN? I'm baffled at how one can come to that conlusion. On
what basis do you award it that distinction? Because it's "raw" and
"honest?" In truth, it's probably the most glossy and "produced" album
they've made. It's got four really great songs on it, in my opinion
(HAO, FOKM, LL and I Awake) but the rest just don't measure up against
their newer stuff. If it's so great, why does the band only play 1 song
from it (if that) during their sets? It's a good album, but I think
even Screaming Life and Ultramega are better than LTL. So get with it.
I mean, where do you people get off making statements like that?

Has anyone seen the BUTOW single yet? Where the heck is it? And
what are the b-sides? Ooh, something live, I hope (how about the "I
Want You" finale from the 95 Reading Fest? Hey, we can all dream.)

is almost always cheaper than cds, and usually cheaper than tapes too. *yay*
I remember reading somewhere that vinyl records cost more to manufacture than
cds, yet cds are usually twice the price (ave cost in Aust for a new cd is
$30 or double $40, vinyl $10-$30 for both single and double)... YAY we love

Actually *opening self to flaming also* Soundgarden isn't my favourite band
either. They are actually only my third favourite. (after Sonic Youth and Mr
Bungle, in case you were wondering). I have every single sg cd, (a hard feat
considering my total lack of cash flow) I worship the ground sg walk on, I
stick pictures of Chris all over my files and kick people who try to colour in
his eyes green. (they actually look quite good, kinda devilish *grin*), I
dream about Kim, I would KILL to see them live, I have arguments
defending Ben's playing and my prerequisite for the perfect boyfriend is
someone who can play the drum part of JCP. However, like I said before, they
are only my 3rd favourite band. Dunno why I like the others better, the three
bands are kinda different styles and all, but I just prefer them to sg. The
only thing that I dont like about soundgarden is their likeability, the way
you can wear a soundgarden shirt (of which i have 2) and everybody in the
street will have heard of them and can sing the chorus of black hole sun. If
black hole sun had never been released as a single, they would be far and away
my favourite band. I have no idea why being different is so important to me,
some flaw in my vital functioning system or something I guess. Okay, after
having completely killed every other sommsters extremely high opinion of me
*coff*, I open the way for the flame war that will follow...
