I videoed an all too brief interview with Chris from The Hit Mix (Sky One)
yesterday.

It took place when they were over in the UK. Chris looked very, relaxed and
affable and even made more eye contact than usual.

I haven't the patience to stop and start the video so can write down all he
said (sorry :-)!) but one thing made me laugh.

When asked for what must be the trillionth time if all the Seattle bands
still hung out together, Chris replied that they all lived in the same
house, shared a giant 30 foot bed with their names on the headboard and wore
matching nightshirts and nightcaps!!

Where's my Snow White costume?!!!

I think Kim would have to be Doc, Chris would be Bashful, Matt is Dopey (b/c
he smokes all that weed) and Ben would be Grumpy!

BTW Have you kicked me off this list Seth, I haven't received a digest since
last Wednesday!?

Subject: Info about Blow Up the Outside World single B-sides

I just found out what the b-sides for both parts of the BUTOW UK CD and
the 7" singles that will be released on Novmeber 4th from my local
import store.

Here they are:

Blow Up The Outside World (Part 1):
1.Blow Up the Outside World
2.A Splice of Spacejam (previously unreleased)
3.Gun (live)*
4.Get on the Snake (live)*
*recorded live at L.A.'s Whiskey-A-Go-Go in 1990

Part 2:
1.Blow Up the Outside World
2.Dusty (Moby Remix)

Blow Up the Outside World 7":
1.Blow Up the Outside World
2.Dusty (Moby Remix)

I think that "Splice of Spacejam" is a track similar to Jerry Garcia's
Finger when SG was recording the extra music for the CD Plus at Space
Studio. Note that the live tracks might be recycled b-sides from some of
the Louder Than Love singles. Also, one of the CD's will be the limited
edition digipak similar to the Burden and Pretty Noose singles, but I'm
not sure if there will be a poster included with though.

here's what justin has to say in the soundgarden FAQ, available on seth's page:

there's m ore information about ToTD available on seth's page,
http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/releases/totd.html

ToTD have only performed officially three times (or so), as well as a couple
of spontaneous reunions during lolla 92 (when both soundgarden and pj were
on the bill) and one other time. you can read all about that also on my
pearl jam page, five horizons, at http://www1.ixa.net/horizons </plug>

i just got word that Pearl Jam performed "Hunger Strike" as an encore at
their show in Dublin yesterday. ARGH!! of COURSE they never do it here... a
nice treat for the european fans, but i'm gonna be killing myself until that
tape gets here....

Subject: seattle SOMMSfest report

well, everyone got tickets for the seattle shows, even a certain person who
overslept and had to make it to ticketmaster in her pajamas. (no names --
but her initials were VA) key arena was selling the tickets without a
service charge, as the List Thug reported, so we went there at around 6:30
am. people SLEPT OUT OVERNIGHT for these tickets, which i personally found
a little excessive, but what the hell.

the classic rock station annoyed us all night with their 'soundgarden ticket
countdown'. "2 hours and 10 minutes until soundgarden tickets go on sale."
SHUT UP! do you have to tell everyone? ;->

last night we attemped to have SOMMSfest gathering #2 at my house.
unfortunately, this was shadowed by the following events:

o shroom and dena getting their car window smashed while parked in the
parking lot behind silver mgmt ;-(((
o the list thug parking his car in a tow-away zone ;-(((

otherwise, a lovely time was had by all and we're gonna have some great new
video stills for the page. ;-) including one of kim in a santa claus hat!

this morning we made it to the record fair -- a total wipeout this time around.

tomorrow is dena's birthday, so everyone wish her happy b-day. they were
off to bainbridge island today, so if ben hasn't taken them out with his
shotgun, we're probably going to celebrate at the ok hotel tomorrow night.

later,

it had a lot to do with the death of his room-mate andrew wood (of
mother love bone), natalie. if you have access to the web, you could try
catching up on some bedtime reading by perusing the unofficial soundgarden
faq - the ugly truth - and all its associated web pages on that
saperlative unofficial soundgarden homepage at www.sgi.net/soundgarden.
once you've experienced it, you will the biggest soundgarden fan on the
block, hands down.

for all you readers of trashy horror, I am currently enmeshed in
the most recent novel from richard bachman (aka. the king of horror) - the
regulators. interestingly, a couple of things pounced on me as I made my
way to about page 120 or so. firstly, if you read a lot of fiction, try
reading to soundgarden. both superunk and dotu make *excellent*
soundtracks to books like this. big guitars would crash just as some guy
bought it, chris would screech just as something jumped out of a closet,
and drums would pound as the tension increased exponentially. makes me
think of how a song like rusty cage or fobd would have fit perfectly in a
movie like _misery_ :)

also of note is one of the book's pivotal characters. in a subtle
reference to soundgarden by the author, a small child named seth (I'm not
kidding) is captured by a demonic entity and becomes a husk of his former
self, unable to do anything but appease the will of his other-worldly yet
parasitic visitor. his own will soon becomes a distant second to the will
of the force of this creature, and to this point (about page 120) it looks
like the domination of seth will continue unabated until something
extraordinary occurs. kind of unfortunate, really.

finally, (and this actually may be relevant in some way) the book
brought to my attention that there was a character on the show _bonanza_
named little joe. after a little surfing, I've found a little joe
homepage, which gives a small amount of background on said character and
michael landon (who played little joe). one section reads in part "known
for his hot temper and impulsiveness which often lead him into big
trouble..". are many listers familiar with the program? is there a
connection? did little joe's father's guts really splatter? if the link
has been more than obvious to you for a long time, and you can lend some
more information, there could be an acknowledgement in the faq for you...
