To all of you who have written in and sent 2 bucks for Soundgarden
information, please accept our apologies. With all that has been going on in
Soundgardenland, we got behind on our newsletter and it took a bit longer
than expected to complete. You will, however be receiving our brand spankin'

Once again, we apologize and thank you for your patience.

imo all that the words 'limited edition' end up meaning is 'record store
scum buying up as many copies as possible so as to drive the price up'.

i went so far as to have the sadly-missed brydon cheney buy me a copy of
the clear vinyl and ship it from the uK when there are still a good
handful or more of it sitting in my favorite sg record store in redmond.

at a record show a few weeks ago, i had a scummy dealer wave a copy in my
face and tell me it was 'rare' and was worth $30 because i picked up
another piece of sg merchandise.

i'd be REALLY curious to get quantities... it would be nice if the
industry lurkers on this list would give us some useful information
instead of just gawking at the soundgarden fans. <waving>

Subject: venue size

at this point, i think it's a gross generalization to say that sg are
playing small venues. the mercer arena is about 8-9,000 seats here in
seattle. i think they are playing the most appropriate venue for the
market -- some markets don't have a good small sized arena, some markets
might have a good sized arena but it's booked on the night that the band
want it. there are many factors to take into consideration, including th
band's popularity. great airplay for "bimh" aside, this isn't exactly the
'superunknown' tour.

is the palace that big??? my friends from detroit were DELIGHTED they were
playing there.

without my parents kicking my ass. When I saw Chicago on the list and not
Milwaukee I was pissed for a week straight. I can't believe they did that. At
least Rush is coming to the Bradley Center (which is crappy for concerts).

Hi list
Earlier I posted that the tickets to the electric factory were sold
out but I was lied to mislead ect. I found tickets so if you live in
the Philadelphia area I am sure you can find them too. Just don't give
up I didn't alot of people said they were but if you search hard
enough you will succeed but who knows if they still have them for sale
now, probaly do. Anyway I just want to share my joy will the whole
list. Woooooooooohoooooooooooooo! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssss! I am
going to see Soundgarden in my area. In the clubbish style
atmosephere. Alot of less people to be squash up against. Oh the crazy
happy woman will be on her way. Just wanted to share the pure joy with
you all. Hi Foo! Oh if I told you the dream I had about me getting
tickets n then waking up n getting the you would probaly think I am
nuts. Ok well I had a team on this project getting me tickets. I had a
dream that same dream again about Chris n it the end I always end up
in a dark like alley. Ok as if this were to happen the guy kissed me n
put two tickets in my hand. I was awoken by my ma cuz she knows how
much it means to me she was working on the ticket thing too.She said
she got them. Ok I am 22 n I live with my ma. As if that has any thing
to do with this. I just think this is weird But my whole life has been
weird like this. So as for Frued n Soundgarden dreams I happen to know
a little about this Freud likes to make almost all dreams sexual from
what I have read even spiders are sexaul to his theory. The guy tries
to make everything related to sex in dreams or disturb things in your
childhood past. I don't believe this.

        Greetings,
The other day, while stumbling to the alarm clock I stepped on my Flower
cassette and completely destroyed it. <frown> Yesterday, I broke down and
went to the evil music store in town and repurchased (is that a word?) on
CD. Anyway, upon opening the package, I was once again greeted with that
little piece of paper from SST records that lets you order really obscure
stuff at bargain rates.
Has anyone actually ordered anything from this "catalog"? Does this place
still exist? And, if so, do they have access to singles and stuff like
that? If you have gotten anything from them, or at least know that is
possible, please let me know. It would make my day.
On a different note, I also bought the Hype soundtrack (because you guys
recommended it so highly) and I Love It!! Probably listened to it ten times
already. Kind of a good old days set of songs.

        Later
        A different Seth

P.S. Let me be the first to admit that I am a freshman in college and I
joined this list shortly after I got my internet account. Let me further
admit that I am relatively clueless when it comes to the way the net
*works*. However this is not an apology on behalf of myself or others. I am
doing my best to get it all figured out. I have only gotten one flame so
far, but _lots_ of positive feedback from veteran Sommsters on some of the
stuff I have posted. Also some great private conversations. This has been
very helpful to my learning. So far I love the Internet and I think this
list kicks ass. I think that if people want things to be more intellegent
and mature, then maybe they should give advice to newcomers (as some have
been doing) instead of just bitching about them (I mean, us). Finally, I am
glad to see everyone getting along again today. Much more fun that way.
Sorry if this part was not really related. Seth Ward, Newbie First Class,

first of all, Dukes of Hazard rocked! (how do you think i learned how to

second of all, i'm younger than shroom, but i feel like i belong to the

because i always do stuff to be different, but it seems like the stuff
people do nowadays to be different is so popular they are just conforming.
what does this have to do with SG? Well, music is part of culture, and it
seems to me that every time i meet someone from either generation (i let
them stereotype themselves) and tell them that SG is my favorite band in
the whole world, they just shrug, never saying SG sucks nor yeah, SG
rocks...it's wierd. seems people are afraid to claim or disown sg--non
list members this is. Has anyone else encountered this?
Also, the tea party rocks!!!! Yall canadian people keep me updated when
they come out with a new album, and if yall know where i can get a tea

You guys are really bad influences on me. I was perfectly happy to have
whatever SG CD's and tapes and what not I already had. But NO! everybody
getting this and that vinyl and what about this other CD over here. So in
my travels around the city today (checked out the hotel I reccommended to
make sure it hadn't turned into a rat hole......It's cool Eliza! ) I
stopped in at Reckless Records and I spend my future Birthday money. I got
the 12" Rusty Cage poster sleeve vinyl( I will admit when I saw the poster
that clinched the deal) Loud Love 12" promotional single, Loudest Love
(Japanese Import CD), Burden in my hand single CD with poster and on the
$1.99 rack...Truly- Fast stories from Kid Coma (sorry Hiro that it was on
the cheap rack) Did I do good???? No I probably paid way too much for
things BUT hey I don't have too many bad vices, don't gamble, chew tobacco
or spit in public !! And baby just got a new pair of shoes when school
started!!! So it's my turn!
I want to turn my bathroom into my Soundgarden shrine (it's the only
room that is mine alone) so all the posters, pictures etc. are headed down
there. It will hurt me to take my Godzilla stuff down but I want to stand
clean and naked in front of my shrine and bow three times every morning.
Damn, you don't think the posters will turn black, curl up at the edges and
fall off the walls when I get naked do ya???? Any one else have
Soundgarden stuff proudly displayed??? any decorating hints Christy??

The other night I had this weird dream that C.C. moved into the room next

said. I went into his room later on, and he was lying on the bed, wheezing
and gasping, and looking extremely skeletal, so I turned him into a magic
fish so he would be ok. I think there was more, but I can't remember
it. This dream was probably brought on by all the talk about how people
are so worried about how skinny he looks in those pictures(what a genius
at dream interpretation I am!), coupled with exitement on my part on
actually getting to see them _twice_. He's probably just suffering from
the rigors of touring, and will ne ok once he has a rest. Well, that's
all I have to say about that. Everyone that's going to the Austin show,
I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.

I had completely forgotten they even played Hands All Over. But they

played from LTL. I don't recall it clearly enough to remember if they
played An Unkind in it, but perhaps. Somebody should go through the

actually, i know i do. in fact, it's a major reason why i'm so

a while matt too) write always seem to touch upon some sort of
emotion i've once felt, or a thought i once had, or something i wish

allowed.
let's just say that it included some crazy shit, like Tiffany.
anyways, i gotta mention that one of the most underrated sg songs has
got to be an unkind.
it's wicked, but too damn short.
i was at the sg show in wpg in 94, and i could have sworn they played
some of the an unkind parts during an extended version of hands all over
if i'm wrong, tell me.

and automatic could be seen as a thread with both bands (except on =
opposite sides, seeing how one is awfully heavy and the other is rather =

No, it was a well founded generalization nased on this list and my

Beer pounding had to do with delivery of the message, not the message
itself....ther is a difference....

Soundgarden and stuff is the key phrase....this is not simply a rote
information source for information @ SG, try SPIN for that....it's about the
thoughts, feelings and emotions that originate from the collection of musical
notes and words that comprises Soundgarden's work, mixed with the
personalities, marketing and other variables that make us fans. This list
transcends the band itself... (for those interested in the reflective
philosophy behind pop culture...check out William Gibson's new book Idoru.

Hey, I was wondering if anybody knows where SG will play between Austin
and their first date in Miss.(if their even playing in these places I
just mentioned) I'm hopin' for something in LA and I was told that the
band was still deciding.

I'd also just like to give credit to Ben's tremendous bass playing on all
the new songs(yes, in particular, BIMH). If I were a bass player and not
a guitar player I would want to be just like him.

thanks seth, for making "hands all over" the flavor of the month, because
it must've inspired someone in the seattle area to remember how much they
*hated* that single as i just picked it up used at Cellophane Square for
eight bucks. actually my real reason for going there was to pick up tix
to see Sweet Water, and gues who's opening? Truly! Perhaps we'll hear
some good stuff from the rumored-to-be-upcoming album. anyone notice that
their song, "heart and lungs" made it into "singles", but it's not on
the soundtrack. i wonder how much more attention they'd get now if they
had made it. (don't we all? hey- everyone should be a sellout!)
this single has the original "WARNING: explicit lyrics! parental
discretion is advised" on it. yeah, i can imagine my parents screening
this for me..."honey, what's this 'big dumb sex song' about? i don't
understand what these kids are getting into nowadays!" hell, my dad
thought 'pretty noose' was too heavy! not like we need these stickers at
all, but does anyone know why we/i rarely ever see them anymore?

Well don't know what's up in the USA, but down here in Aust, all you can get
is the jewel box now days. I think the digipak lasted like 2 weeks or
something (if that) and now all you can find is jewel box cd's. My friend
has a copy from England and it's in a jewel box, so I assume the same is
true over that way. Maybe America got all the digi's and the rest of the
world got the jewel box's :)

Chris,

Yes.. we all saw that BUT... DOTU was sold over 1 million copies (lp, ca &
cd) in the US alone yet every cd that comes from the warehouse is STILL in
digipak. Maybe it's limited to 6 million copies in dipipak (c:

The DOTU UK (clear wax) lp IS quite rare. Only 1500 in existence according
to the press release & this I believe. My import company has ZERO available
& they've had ZERO available ever since the day I made my first order on
them. $30 would a 'reasonable' price for it by the way since it's no longer
in print & originally retailed for $21.97.

I found an old Skin Yard record (with Matt sorta on the front banging on his
kit & his hair hanging down) on 12" vinyl for $8.98 but I didn't buy it. Is
anyone interested? I'd be happy to pick it up next chance I get if it's
still there. Anyone?

i just saw Singles for the first time in a couple of years.
i enjoyed it more this time around.....
i really dug hearing that early version of spoonman in the background.
cool guitar sound----> raw, unpolished-like, you know?

i was thinking.........
there hasn't been many times where i like the cover version of a song
better than the original. (ie: lake of fire and plateau and oh me are
better when their done by meat puppets instead of unplugged nirvana)
but i gotta say this......
"girl u want" is pretty shitty when played by sg....but it's worse when
it's played by devo.

(note: i really like girl u want. but it's a bad song. kinda like
blistered by hater. or the reflex by duran duran. or we only come out at
night by the pumpkins. they suck.....but they kick ass)

i wrote a real bad song. it was a sg-type riff with some real bad vocal
parts. it was called "mellotron" in honor of sg's use of that fine
instrument.

ten years to Rome
ten waves pushing home
a face in the window
mellotron.

there's some lyrics for ya.... -:) <------anyone noticed that looks
like alphalfa????
anyways, i thought it sounded pretty sg-ish, but it really sucked.
that's my story.
