I guess I'll put my $0.02 as well...

1. Favorite SG song, lyrically
    -- Like Suicide

2. Favorite SG lyric(s)
-- The second verse of Like Suicide, the thoughs going
through his mind as he's about to drop the brick
       on the bird.

3. Favorite SG song, musically
-- JCP, for its high-octane fury from start to finish
-- Regards to 4th of July and Applebite for their originality

4. Favorite part of an SG song
-- The solo in Reach Down... Does that count, being TotD?
-- Otherwise, probably the solo in Like Suicide. In either
case the solo is the catharsis, and there's almost a
       refreshed and re-energized feeling afterwards.

5. Favorite SG song
    -- JCP, without a doubt

6. Instrument
    -- Drums

7. Favorite all time lyric
    -- "I can't complain, but sometimes I still do"
Joe Walsh (I know, kinda corny...)

8. Favorite all time song
-- The live version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" from the
Frampton Comes Alive album. The solo at the end always
makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, even
after hundreds of listens. The only thing better is the
first four songs off BMF, taken as a whole. But that
would be four songs, not one...

9. Favorite SG Album
    -- BMF (see above)

10. Favorite Pizza Topping
    -- Crispy Bacon (from Ledo's)

11. Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
    -- Peanut Butter and Chocolate

12. Advice for Compiling the Response...
-- In the words of Han Solo, "Better him than me."

Favorite SG lyric: "I had a dog, he was a mix, loved me like a god, though

Favorite SG musically: Ty Cobb

Favorite part of a SG song: opening riff to Outshined

Favorite All-Time Song: either "Land of Sunshine" by Faith No More or
"Mother Goose" by Jethro Tull or "Angry Chair" by Alice in Chains or

OK, I'll explain. I'm just at a loss as to how anybody can sit there
defending the validity of a musical form which never even existed.
Grunge was just a word invented by music journalists for a load of bands
that came from the same place. None of these bands had any real
similarities, musically. I mean, would you say that Nirvana sounds like
Alice In Chains or that Tad sounds like Soundgarden, for instance?
Soundgarden are not a "Grunge" group at all, they just got roped
into the whole sorry fiasco after Nirvana became popular - as did any
other band that happened to come from Seattle. Even up to this day,
nobody can really define what was the definitive "Grunge" sound. Some
say downtuned riffing, but that's rubbish - a lot of Metal bands do that
and have been doing so long before "Grunge" existed also, that definition
would exclude bands like Nirvana or PJ who do not use such techniques in
their music particularly. Yet others say its muddy feedback-infested
noise, but that would exclude bands like Alice In Chains and Tad and
music which sounds like this, again has been out long before the term was
ever invented. Therefore, if a so-called form of music can't even be
given a specific definition regarding its sound, then it can't actually
exist!!

All of these so-called "Grunge" bands were just rock bands (or
some of them post-Punk) who just played their own unique form of Rock
music (ie devioid of any popular cliches such as "Girls, girls, girls..."
songs or "I worship Satan" songs and devoid of spandex). They never sounded
anything like each other. The only thing they
had in common was the fact that they came from the same place. That's
all. If none of these bands became popular and the term was never
invented, these bands would just be seen as rock bands. Any band
could've come from Seattle and been labelled "Grunge", regardless of
whatever music they played. So if you've been into SG all this time
under the delusion that they were another one of those "cool as fuck"
Grunge bands that have been so popular in the last few years, then you've
been seriously mislead by the media.

While I believe that some dreams have relevance or menaing, I'm not one
of these people that has to attribute some sort of hidden or deeper
menaing to eveything my subconscious mind throws up during my sleeping
hours. Most of it you can't even remember anyway, and a lot of dreams
are so silly or surreal, it seems pointless thrying to figure out what
they mean. But there are people out there who have to devise a theory
for every dream, every song lyric and every artist's piece of work - even
though one can never hope to know how another individual perceives
reality and therefore not know how their mind works. I'm not trying to
get at you or anything, Geoff, so don't take the wrong idea about this,
I'm just skeptical about stuff like this. That's all...

I agree with most of what you said but I think you are confused if you
think that there are no simalarities.
I don't think of them as a cool ban. If you could go to school with me and
se the people thier, you would definatly understand that I like different
music then they do.
Someone just said that they were not a grunge band, If they are not grunge
then what are they?

Hi guys,
I just got the Burden single a couple days ago!! Does anybody else not like
Karaoke that much? On the upside, it is growing on me. The first time I heard
it I didn't even listen all the way through. Bleed together is fantastic
though. I also have the My Wave single, so the B.R. demo is not new to me.

HOLY SHIT, BATMAN! SOUNDGARDEN'S COMING TO THE LOS ANGELES AND ORANGE COUNTIES!
I am now happy to know where Soundgarden's shows are in my community. Now
I have to wait for the announcement(or call beforehand) of ticket sales.

Thanx to you members who e-mailed me recently, saying that the song "Blind
Dogs" came from "The Basketball Diaries". Speaking of Leonardo DiCaprio,
he's going to be in a modern movie version of Romeo and Juliet with Claire
Danes. Hasn't this play been exploited enough?

KROQ, a radio station in LA, has a contest this week--if you're the winning
caller, you qualify for a drawing to see these bands in Europe:
SOUNDGARDEN in Sweden
SOCIAL DISTORTION in Switzerland
THE CRANBERRIES in Italy
PEARL JAM in Ireland
in addition, you get CD's from all four bands! That's a cool prize, but
the station is very popular and it's hard to get through on the phone
lines!

Lastly, in addition to all the SG dreams, I had one last night. Chris was
at my house because he had a concert in my city that night. We had
stimulating conversation at great length(I don't remember about what) and
soon, we went outside. I had begun to ask about the other SG members--and
it seemed that Chris read my mind, because next to Chris, Kim is my
favorite SG member. He said, "Kim's kind of pissed today. It's not a good
idea if you met him right now." So we made our way back to my house, and
all of a sudden, all of these girls started bumrushing him, and Chris and I
ducked into the house, trying to pry the girls off of him and push them
outside the door. As I reflect upon this dream, I am reminded that Chris
acted down-to-earth during the whole dream, and when the girls chased him
he was calm and collected. Pretty weird for someone who hasn't met Chris
Cornell before.

First of all thanks for all of you who participated in this one. Second of
all these results are not scientific at all. Even though most people filled
the survey out pretty well, some people skipped questions or couldnt
remember the answer to some questions, and some people were exempt from some
questions
(like asking seth how long he waited from the time he joined the list to the
time he first posted :) )

Anyways I will keep you all waiting no more here are the results:
28 People Took Part in The Survey

Question 1
Which of these Soundgarden videos have you seen?

Here is the list of the videos and the number of people who have seen each:
1) Pretty Noose (either version) - 24
2) Black Hole Sun - 23
3) Burden In My Hand - 23

14) Flower - 2
(note to whomever is redesigning the video section of seth's page: might want
to make movies of the ones at the bottom first)

Question 2
As of right now, have you ever seen soundgarden in concert? And if you
haven't, do you have tickets for any of the announced upcoming shows?

Yes - 74%
No - 26%

Question 3
Can you play any soundgarden song on any instrument? If so, tell me which
ones. (or just some of them for you guitar players that know like pretty
much every song)

Yes - 46% (including someone who can play some SG on the sax)
No - 54%

Do you own all six (Down On The Upside, Superunknown, Badmotorfinger, Louder
Than Love, Ultramega OK, Screaming Life/Fopp) of soundgarden's albums?

Yes - 57%
No - 43%

Question 5
Approximately how long after you joined the list did you post your first
message?

The Approximate Time Between Joining the List and Posting a Message is: 7 days
A couple of people who responded haven't even posted yet.

Thanks to everyone who contributed and for you guys for reading it. Thanks

Oh, I found a SG boot the other day titled something like
"Soundgarden... Live from Vermont." It was in a yellow digipak, and it had
pictures from "Flower" on it. Mostly it was live stuff from Motorvision
(Seattle, March 5th & 6th, 1992)... and a few regularly recorded tracks.
Nothing I'm sure that most of us don't have. I thought it was funny,
though... 'cuz "Hunted Down" was titled "Haunted Down," and JCP was "Jesus

And I don't CARE if Ben Timberlake thinks that Chris has ever used the
word "amenities," dammit. =) (Love ya, Ben!) I like this quote:

"My Porsche is a deluxe model. It has all the amenities... not to mention
RECLINING leather seats. Hey Shroom, wanna go for a... ride?"

Subject: Some interesting tidbits about Kim

Hey all! I was in a bookstore over the weekend, and I was looking through the
book "Soundgarden" by Chris Nickson. (Unfortunately, I didn't have enough $ to
buy it :-(
Anyway, I picked up 2 facts about Kim that I didn't know before.
- ----Kim was actually born in Seattle, moved to Park Forest, IL when he was 3
or 4, and actually lived in India for a short while (I'd always thought he was
born in Illinois itself)
- ----Kim himself says he did drugs as a teenager (This I find very interesting,
since the majority of Indians don't do drugs)

Don't get mad at me if you already knew these things. I'm just trying to be
helpful. :-)

Non SG: Does anybody know what type of music Grant Lee Buffalo is? Please
e-mail me if you know.

I've decided to get back into some intense tape trading so if anyone wants to
trade send me a list. I'm interested mainly in getting Soundgarden but if
you don't have anything from them send me your list anyway. Maybe we can
still work out a trade... I have a pretty wide music listening range.
 Contact me off-list of course.

Has anyone heard of a date for the 'BUtOW' single to hit radio (for those
that aren't already playing it) or when the vid will be released? 'Burden'
has been way overplayed according to my radio-listening / MTV-watching
friends so hopefully A&M will hurry & get the new single out there... We
have an album full of radio-friendly songs so I'm hoping we get some airplay
from more than a few songs (ie Superunknown from which I've heard of 8 songs
being played the radio.)

I was just reading through the mailing list archive (aren't
holidays grand?), when I noticed an old old thread asking whether kim has
ever been involved in the making of muzak. it made me think of a quote
from kim which, in light of that thread, is pretty funny - "if soundgarden
were played in elevators, more people would take the stairs".

	just thought I'd share :)

Since for the last week I have been behind on the ol' digests I would
greatly appreciate it if someone could E-Mail me when the date is announced
that tickets go on sale.

BTW What show(s) are you planning on going to if you're going to a Seattle
show? I'd like to go to both, but I don't know if that'll be possile.
