Subject: sg tourmates...

hey all...

well, once again sg is coming nowhere near me on their upcoming u.s.
tour. not a surprise...i don't blame them at all. i just wish they
would break convention and come to omaha or something AT LEAST ONCE.
oh well...

anyway, i was really happy to hear the planned opening acts for their
tour. my brother got me hooked on rftc about two years ago...their
stuff is pretty cool, if i do say so myself. pretty simple and kinda
noisy at times, but good overall.

but it's the second opener--tenderloin--that really blew my mind. is
anyone else on this list familiar with this group? they're a
midwestern product (lawrence, ks, if i'm not mistaken) and they played
the whole midwestern area like madmen a couple of years ago...then
their lead singer went on a power trip and "fired" two of the band
members, one of whom was an instrumental founding member. i hadn't
heard anything from 'em since then, so i'm not sure what their lineup
is now. at any rate...if they're anything like they were two years
ago, their set will be a treat for those of you attending sg's shows
this fall. a fine band. the singer is a fairly rotund, excitable
sweaty dude and he just tears the place apart...that is, if he's still
in the band.

anyway, my $.02 once again...

checking both the Brandeis and Ticketmaster websites and they don't say
ANYTHING.. I also still gotta get parental permission, especially since
we might be moving that week and it's on a school night and I have to
drive kinda far to school in the morning, but I went to see Soundgarden
in Rochester, got home at 6am and was on the bus at 7am :> I didn't

As many of you know, I'm SO behind in my e-mail it isn't even funny. I
promise that I'll catch up tonight. I was out of town this weekend (except
for the Course of Empire show on Friday night that was really amazing and all
the Dallas Sommsters missed out on). =P Not that I'm griping at anyone, of
course. You guys can make it up by coming to the Slow Roosevelt CD release
party at Trees this Friday. Caulk and Bobgoblin will be opening. It's going
to be GREAT!! It's about damn time that Slow Roosevelt put out a CD. Oh,
and I, The Jury will be at Trees on Thursday night. There's so much
excellent music here in Dallas, I can't believe you people are missing out on
it. Y'know, someday a few of these bands are going to be huge, too... and
you're going to say to yourselves "Now why in the hell didn't I see them when
they were still playing in the small clubs with only 40 people in
attendance?? Damn me!!" Heheheh... ok, enough on the Dallas music stuff...

I'm so happy to hear about the TX tour dates, but like others... I'm
puzzled by the fact that no Dallas date has been announced. Why would SG
skip the ALMIGHTY Dallas?!? Maybe because they were here for Lolla? Well,
it's a toss up between here and NOLA now, I guess. It doesn't REALLY matter,
because I'll see the show no matter where it's at. I'm going to the November
24th, 26th, 27th, and 29th shows. I can't wait to see SG four times in a
week! And Matt's gonna be in TX for his b-day. Heheheh... gee, let's see
what kind of scheme Shroomy can come up with for this. I didn't really
prepare for Lolla, but dammit... this time I'll figure something out. ;-)
It's going to be impossible to sneak backstage this time, though. Ummm... I
know! When D and I are in Seattle, and Matt shows up at the OK on the
28th... ummm... he'll be really cool, and comp me backstage for one of the TX
shows. Yeah, that's it!! Heheheh... hey, a girl can dream, can't she?!?!?
Ummm... yeah... =) Anyway... I promise I'll catch up on my delinquent
e-mail ASAP. Love me, bye-bye...

A while back someone (sorry, don't remember who) said since so many of
us are going to the Chicago shows we should try to find out if we
could get some special treatment (or something like that). Has anyone
checked into that? I remember on that radio interview they did there
were a bunch of fan club members in the studio - I think we should
rank right up there with them:) Does anyone have any ideas how we
would go about getting some "group recognition"? Who would we
contact?

By the way, I've lost count of all of us who are going to the Chicago
shows. We need to arrange a meeting place so we can all get together
before the show, maybe have dinner or something. What do you all
think?

Sorry, I forgot in my last post, I wanted to thank everyone who e-mailed w
directions and info for the Aragon. Believe it or not, I have an older
relative who doesn't live too far from there so I may not even have to pay
for lodging. (Well not pay MONEY anyway, my sanity is another question)

Also, speaking of "things I've done for Soundgarden". Has anyone ever
gotten locked in a building for them? I came to the office on Saturday
afternoon to check my e-mail for word on the tour and when I went to leave
the doors were locked and my elevator key wouldn't work in the back
elevators. So I was stuck in this little lobby area with all these windows
so I could see all the happy, free people walking by and I was trapped.
(Now I know how fish feel.) I had to call the elevator service guy on the
emergency phone and wait for a 1/2 hour for him to come and get me. And he
LAUGHED AT ME. I'll probably end up having to pay for the service call too
:(

Anyway, I'm really not an airhead, just addicted to Soundgarden.

See ya. Monnica

Subject: Please shoot me??

Someone put me out of my misery. My parents have ONCE again driven me
from their presence with insults to my favorite band. It was my mother, this
time. I happened to walk in on a conversation between the two of them about
famous people. I guess that my padre didn't know who Pamela Anderson was.
He kept thinking that she was Loni Anderson, but that's not quite germane to
my story. I was just listening in and silently laughing at my parents for
even HAVING this conversation... until the topic switched to Tommy Lee,
Motley Crue, and Soundgarden. My padre asked what Tommy Lee looked like, and
my mother announced that he looked almost EXACTLY like Chris Cornell. I had
to speak up (of course) about how my mother must be going blind AS WELL as
deaf in her old age. Chris is so much better looking than Tommy Lee....
jeez, they're like on opposite ends of the spectrum. Chris is a God, and
Tommy Lee can woof with the best of them. My mother listened to me rant and
rave for about five minutes... then she turned to my padre an said "Tommy Lee
could pass for Chris Cornell's twin. AND he's a better drummer than that
blonde guy in Soundgarden." Tommy Lee... BETTER than MATT?!?!? Oh
pleeeeeeze save me from this torture!! I AGAIN ranted and raved to the
woman... for at least TEN minutes this time. I told her all the nifty
information I'd picked up from y'all concerning Matt's drumming. I threw in
all the technical terms I could remember. I did and said EVERYTHING to show
the woman the error of her ways. She listened to me again, and then very
calmly (and seriously!) said "Tommy Lee can play the drums while FLYING
around the stage on his drum kit. I'll bet Matt Cameron can't do THAT." And
that was the end of the story. My mother went outside to do the traditional
Texas afternoon barbeque thingy that she's so fond of... and I was left
standing there with my mouth open, unable to even SPEAK. My padre looked at
me and said "Well, I guess she told YOU, huh??" AAAAUUUGGGHHHH!!!!! You
can't argue with my mother!! The woman is IMPOSSIBLE!! I tried later to
explain that Soundgarden doesn't NEED to do frivolous crap like that, because
UNLIKE Motley Crue... SG's music is GOOD. Fans don't NEED to be amused by
stupid fucking flying drummers... the MUSIC is enough for us. But would she
listen to me??? Noooooooooooo!!!!! AAAAUUGGHHH!!!! Ok, I'm a little better
for having shared this with y'all. Blah. Methinks that I need to find an
apartment NOW. Damn... I'll sure miss the fridge always being full, and that
barbeque stuff my mom makes, though. But you've gotta have SOME standards in
you life, right?? Heheheh...

Anyone who can actually show up at a Ticketmonster outlet at 10am instead
of sweating inside a hot atticy lab station doing a Fluid Mechanics Lab
until 11am, which said person has to be there for! Get a hold of me. I
have a feeling due to the huge radio push and the relative small amount of

I don't mean to ramble and all, but it is SG related...kinda.

Imagine if Kim or Matt or somebody got their mitts on my band's demo
tape, and asked us to open up for some of their shows. Man. How cool
would that be? Then I couldn't bitch about not having tix.

i finally got my Alive in the SU cd+ to work, completely!! i had lots
of parts working till now, but never the whole thing...

and i must say, it is awesome! especially the videos, the live FOBD is
amazing and the My Wave is very cool....and especially for all you
Chris lovers, having his full blown face singing on your 'puter is too
cool!

i have been sitting in the dark for an hour watching the videos and my
friend that is here (not really a fan) thinks i am insane, so i had to
tell someone that would care ;-)

counting the days till chicago and d.c.,

Which one?! When DoTU came out, almost every guitar magazine had a Kim
Thayil interview . . .

Are you sure about this? I could've sworn it talks about Kim playing guitar
on that Pretty Noose single interview? Chris says he couldn't do the pinky
thing, but I thought Kim still played?
 . . . and I don't think you said something that much . . .

I agree on the guitar thing, but I sure don't think it should be heavier . .
. I really like the acoustic guitar best on that song . . . think it would
be great unplugged . . .
