shoot me if this has been mentioned already, but I just picked up the new
Rolling Stone (with Conan O'Brien on the cover) and the only worthwhile
thing in there is this GREAT!!!! photo of chris with his arm around Joey
Ramone from the LA Palace gig:

"Face it, if you haven't been to a Ramones last show, you're a loser. The
boys called it quits, again, ending their farewell tour (aka Lollapalooza)
at Los Angeles' Palace. Onstage at various times during the tear-jerking
affair were Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, members of Rancid and Motorhead's
Lemmy Kilmister. "We were at the 2,000th show, in Tokyo," recalls
Soundgarden's Matt Cameron. "But this is 2,263. Johnny [Ramone] says it's
over. You have to take his word."

GREAT photo. i'll scan it on monday, sethster. ;-)

???? i thought chris was using telecaster lately & i vividly remember
chris using gretch guitars.(those real shiny and bright ones, he had
sliver, ect.) as for kim your right he plays guild sg's . and as for ben
and matt , well ben frequently plays fender telecaster basses and well
matt im not a drummer so i havent a clue.

oh-yea! and as for amps im pretty sure they use mesa-boogie and as for
all the little gadgets like peadals and stuff , i havent a clue.

Subject: i don't think I'm doing this right

Hi.....I'm obviously new to this mailing to the digest thing, though
I've been on the list for a few weeks. Anyway, if I actually did do this
right, I was really wanting to tell Jessica that I thoroughly enjoyed
her story, and as a feminist myself, found nothing to frown upon in it.
Hello...is there anything we wouldn't do to see the almighty Chris? And
by the way Shroom, you're NOT the only one who has a crazy impulse to
lick pictures of Chris. Oh yea, before I start going off about how
perfect Chris is, does anyone know if Soundgarden is planning to come to
Texas soon? I still haven't forgiven myself for missing Lollapalooza (I
also love Metallica), since it did come close to Dallas, which is close
to San Antonio. Every time I see a picture of Chris singing with his
shirt either off or unbuttoned I get really pissed off, so I figure that
SG has to play here soon or else I just might die. Well, maybe not die,
but be terribly unhappy.
						Thanks for sympathizing,

Subject: First timer

Hi everybody. This is my very first time, and I'm oh-so excited. I've
been on the list for a few weeks, so I kind of know everybody. Shroom
and jessica, I have a feeling that the three of us could talk about the
lovely Chris for days. Whoever wrote about the pic of SG in Us magazine
is right. I think it was Kathie, but I don't remember. The guys (all of
them) look great, but Chris looks way too good. Anyway, I was really
wanting to tell Jessica that I thouroghly enjoyed her story. and as a
feminist myself, found nothing to frown uon in it. Hello....is there
anything we wouldn't do to see the almighty Chris? By the way Shroom, a
few days ago you wondered if you were the only one who had crazy
impulses to lick pictures of Chris...I assure you that you're not.
Believe me, I have multiples of lots of pics, for that very reason. Ha
ha. Oh yea, before I start going off about how perfect Chris is, does

myself for missing Lollapalooza (I also love Metallica), since it did

soon or else I just might die. Well, maybe not die, just be really
unhappy. To all of you going to the Chicago show(s), I'm really jealous,
superhappy for you. You have to tell us all about them. And last of all,
but certainly not least in importance, I personally think Chris looks
better with his present hair. what I really hope he never does is the
Eddie/Gavin thing. Yes, they look good with it, but I just can't see
Chris like that. That's my 2 cents. Gotta go, homework calls. Happy late
birthday Kim.

ditto for me too. they HAVE TO come to texas. Since you live in Texas too,
do you know if in past tours Soundgarden has come through here..? becuz i just
cannot remember from the time ive lived here. which is in Austin. im also
pissed as hell at myself for missing Lolla cuz of Soundgarden, plus metallica
in one place at the same time just works out great, but Dallas was 'too far' ,
and san antonio is even farther away from there..
well im preparedto travel as far as i can to see em.

also another questoin about the Burden In my Hand single (just saw the video
for the first time the other day, dont have cable/mtv or anything) so part 1
has two tracks on it, so when is part 2 to be released and wat differnce
exists...?

yeah, I know. that is an album I have wanted to buy for a long
time (anyone want to lend me $30?). the screaming trees by themselves are
a pretty fair bunch of musicians, but to have chris involved makes them a
good percentage better.

but as good as it is billed, I don't know if his appearance made
much of a difference to _uncle anesthesia_ (unless it was on the
production side). I listened to it once in a record store and had a lot of
trouble picking out his voice, let alone his work on the recorder. of
course, that was only after one hearing, but you would think that his
vocals (even though he is listed as a backing singer) would soar over mark
lanegan's.

Does Chris hit a higher note?
OOboy a new thread, well my choice for highest note would have to be the
beginning of Power Trip. Nothing can match that. Bits of Cold Bitch come
close.
Another thing i know i may get flammed for saying this but i think that
Chris is a little overrated as a vocalist. Hear me out before you kill me
though. The reason i say this is the many songs they have recorded live
(as Bsides or form SOMMS) and to be honest he never matches his vocals on
the Albums (exception being Beyond the Wheel). Infact on some songs he
doesn't
come close (Fell on Black Days, Slaves and Bulldozers). I know that
singers have off nights and that some songs are harder to sing then
others, but you would think that only good performances would be released.
I have seen local bands with great vocalists that do it live (Naiad,
Powderfinger) and for an example you would know how about the singer from
Tool Maynard. His live performances are sometimes better then the album
recordings and he hits every note spot on. Also past vocalists like Robert
Plant were superior live. Don't get me wrong Chris is still great but i
think he could be better especially live. Hmmm, maybe if he stoped smoking
and had vocal training who knows he could prove me totally wrong by
performing great at the Big Day Out, or at Soundgarden's own shows in
Sydney :) (hint hint) and i realise he plays guitar as well. Waiting for
a smart discussion.

Hi all,

I have a question about flannelette shirts, what do you guys in America call
them? here in Sydney we call them flannies, flannos, sometimes westie
shirts. Just wondering........

Now Soundgarden content..... For Ozsommsters......... Why doesnt RAGE ever
have a SG retrospective?????? They have a Pearl Jam one at the drop of a
hat, but they didnt even have one when DOTU came out! (or did they? Im sure
Ive put a tape in every weekend since then).

Oh thanks for the competition Ang, I never win anything so I'm very excited.

Cheers Mandy
