Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has any Soundgarden live shows,
where they played "Waiting For The Sun" by the Doors. I saw them do
it at the first night of Lollapalooza in Irvine. If anyone has it on
tape than please email me. Thank you very much.

Someone asked about album preferences (Sorry, I'm new and I didn't
remember the name)...

Sadly, I had dismissed Soundgarden as just another opratic metal band. I
hate this, but it was acutally the Black Hole Sun video that drew my
attention to sg. I usually study with the TV on. The white noise effect...
Anyway, I was impressed with the video effects. My roomate at the time
went out and bought the CD. As soon as I read Chris Cornell's lyrics I
was hooked.

Soundgarden is awesome. Of course, the subscribers to this list don't
need to be told how great a band Soundgarden is, I'm sure.

There are great songs on DOTU. There are great songs on all the sg CDs
and tapes that I've listened to; however, I prefer the DOTU,
Superunknown, and BMF to the earlier work. I obsess on the
dark, depressed lyrics on Superunknown. On the other hand, I've never been
too fond of the high tremolo vocals that seem to dominate most of the
earlier sg work, although I'm getting over my hang ups about them (them
being the vocals.) I didn't like Robert Smith's voice for a long time
either, and I think I'm just used to it now. I suppose that for me,
what's being said is so much more important than how its sung.

This is my first non-academic list... so don't harsh on me too much. Thanks.

It would be really cool to have another CD+, one that's more accessible

Yep.. although when I saw em in VT they did Flower, which was simply

the tenuous connection between soundgarden and pearl jam (city of
origin and side projects) doesn't really warrant discussions of no
code, even if it is a departure. if madonna released an album that was
nothing like her previous work, i would be sure to direct my thoughts
to the madonna mailing list, NOT the soundgarden mailing list. were i
to direct those thoughts to this list, i'm sure i would have to get
more disk space to hold the flames.

if you want to talk about pearl jam, please talk about them on the
pearl jam mailing list, or relate your conversation in some way (and i
don't mean: "no code is a departure. dotu is a departure. let's talk
about pj.") to soundgarden. if you want to talk about temple of the
dog or macc, that's cool.

besides, i make the rules and you have to do what i say or i'll kill
you. :)

You know that is one of the great thing about Soundgarden's
music. It cross an age barrier the starts in the very early
teens and reaches all the way out to us baby-boomers. Never let
anyone tell you, you are too young or too old to love any type of
music. Music is and should be ageless. It's a credit to
Soundgarden and the members of this list that we can come here
and talk about them and the music with out any regard to age.

And as long as I'm talking, have to tell you all I really love
"Karaoke", it must have been really hard for them to leave it off
DOTU.. I love the beginning, I love the drums.. I want to see
Matt doing this song.. I love the line "You can hear it in the
air, you can feel it in your bones". That is just how I feel
about SG's music... "You can have it for your own"....

Subject: EUROPE & STUFF.....

This is my first Somms post and I'd like to thank you all for keeping a
bored Kiwi, living in the heart of Italy up to date with SG news!!!

I saw my first SG gig at the Commodore in Vancouver, BC, in 1990, even
if i didn't really know it at the time!! I remember Voivod and Prong and
then these real loud guys, though I think SG were 2nd on the bill, maybe
someone knows?

To answer a previous question, it seems that lately in Europe most bands
prefer to tour after the summer,as every one is back from holiday and
tickets definetely sell better. I know that here in Italy Pearl Jam
tickets have been on sale for nearly a month ( there are 2 shows ) and
there are still tickets available. This year looks great with of course
SG here in Bologna on the 25th ( scored a massive tour poster today )
and a lot of name bands including Pantera, Pearl jam and I forget the
others, weird for Italy though as of late there has been a real drought
of talent. It's not so unusual to find ' name ' bands touring after the
summer ,the festivals are still on and the weather is hopefully still
good!!
I think I heard from the list that Susan Silver is touring with the
guys, is this true? If so, is there a picture of her on the web?. Please
let me know.
Oh, and to whoever bought Fortissimo, I'm sure it's an Italian boot,
I've seen it here a number of times. For those who don't speak Italian
it means EXTRA STRONG...It sells for around 15 dollars usually.

Take care

Noel

just a small tidbit of info for those american listers who are
trying to deduce the timing and likelihood of a u.s club tour before the
end of the year. the other website says that their european tour will
finish half-way through october (and I notice they are taking a day off on
the same day the faq will hit the airwaves. coincidence?). moreover, the
fanclub reports that they are confirmed for the big day out here in
australia, which tours the sunburnt land at the end of january (our
summer) next year.

my best guess is that the band will probably tour domestically
during october/november. then they could have christmas and new year's at
home, and then dominate the australia-pacific region throughout january.
any takers?

btw, are there any german sommsers? you lucky ducks are getting a
grand total of 7 different dates in your corner of the world. are there
many euro lurkers who are going to pop up and give us reviews?

Subject: Unusual Request (Sorry, no SG content)

Greetings! I'm new to the Net and to this list, and I've a special
request for you, so please bear with me!

Our Internet Service Provider (who happens to be our state-owned
telecommunications monopoly here in Aruba) is about to change their rates.
Presently, our rate is: US$ 28.57 p/month, unlimited access, US$ 1.10
p/hour on non-peak hours.

The new rates (as per September) will be as follows:

Rate 1: US$ 14.29 p/month, 5 hours free access, US$ 5.14 for each add. hour
Rate 2: US$ 28.57 p/month, 15 hours free access, US$ 3.77 for each add. hour
Rate 3: US$ 57.14 p/month, 40 hours free access, US$ 3.43 for each add. hour

(Including a one-time US$ 14.29 subscription fee)

Can you please e-mail to me the rates applying to you? I need this
information in order to launch a protest campaign against the *&%@#
ISP of ours. I wont use your names a/o e-mail addresses.

I'll make sure my next post will be SG related. Thanks! (BTW great list!)

During the Ten-era touring McCready played a bit of Outshined on guitar (the
riff) in between songs. No big deal.
