I said that a song grew on me after i was high and there is a reason. I
find that when i am stoned i can hear all the instruments and sounds in a
song clearly and distinctly. This makes a good and complex song even
better. It doesn't work with all music but i feel being high increases
your listening pleasure. This is especially so live where while stoned and
listening to a great song time seems to be standing still. Seriously time
goes by very slowly, great if you are enjoying yourself. The same does't
occur when drunk, for me anyhow. If i get really drunk i sometimes forget
about three hours. Imagine if you saw Soundgarden and couldn't remember
it. Having said this people are affected differrentlywhen high so others
may enjoy music less while high, i hope not.

PS Good music to listen to while stoned:
Soundgarden (of course), Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd (i don't listen to
them normally), and Type O Negative.

Yes it is obvious and a bit dissapointing but when you are hoping for
another Cold Bitch you will be dissapointed.

The second time was defintely better so who knows it's early days yet.
Chris said the song is about how bands are copying eachother and the state
of music at the moment. Maybe it's obvious on purpose, now that would be
something.

This song reminded me of Drawing Flies and sounds very rock in a generic
sense almost but is an excellent tune.

Agreed, infact the demo version of Birth Ritual is much worse then the
final version, a good example of a song improving a lot after the demo was
done( and no the demo of Fell on Black Days is not as good as the album,
version IMHO). Infact the first time i heard the demo BR at one stage i
stopped the song because the sound irritated me, and i love the final
version. I expect some people will disagree.

What does that mean i loved the live version of Beyond the Wheel, much
better then the original. Infact i can't help but think that if
Soundgarden remade UltramegaOK it would sound great and much higher in the
list of Soundgarden albums (currently last). If Suicidals can do it why
not Soundgadren?

PS just bought the new Album by the Hanging Tree great aussie band. I bet
you all wished you lived in Australia, we have great music talent. Then
again we see Soundgarden infrequently so thats a bad thing :(

I've been waiting for months for this. I contend that Chris Cornell has
never said 'amenities.' I'm just betting it's a word he doesn't use. Kim,
probably. Chris, I just kinda doubt it.
I could be wrong, though.

Other words Chris has probably not said: hootchie, trowel, eggplant,
badmotorfinger, bread.
Words Kim has probably not said: anything with less than three syllables.
Words Ben has probably not said: Nice, kind, happy, gumby, hock-ptoo.

I was once telling this guy how much I liked soundgarden, and I guess I
was sorta trying to convince him that he should like soundgarden as much,
too (of course realistically, that's absurd, but I can't imagine why else
I was describing my love for the music). But he said he had always
considered soundgarden a poor man's Pearl Jam.
I do enjoy the music of both bands, but I just don't see it as
comparable. Does anyone see striking similarities between the two, apart
from the facts that they're both pretty much from seattle and have two
incredible vocalists?
I've always considered Alice in Chains a closer comparison.
Speaking of which, what AIC songs would sommsters like to hear covered by SG?
I would like to hear 'Man in The Box,' or 'love, hate, love.'

Coming from someone who still listens to TOTD daily, I would say that
parts of the two compliment eachother incredibly well- each with their
own style. What a joy to have both to listen to vs. making
comparisons. It sucks that there is such a tendency in the music
world to group all of the Seattle so-called grunge together....but
anyone who takes the time to listen and not just hear (particularly to
the older stuff) would see that they are so incredibly unique from
eachother. And thank god they are. Definitely not Poor Man's
anything.

And Ben I do agree about Man in the Box - wud be awesome. I wud love
to hear Chris do the vocals for Rooster and maybe Angry Chair. My

Love Hate Love would be awesome. Chris' screaming is perfect for that song.
And what about Rooster? I'm betting it would sound something like FOBD...

While I would love to hear any SG covers of AIC songs, I don't really
think they could do them justice. AIC's songs are centered around
vocal interactions between Layne and Jerry that IMHO Chris couldn't
match, even with overdubbing.

With that said, I'd kill to hear SG do Would?.

That also brings up something I've been wondering about - why is Chris
the only vocalist? Do the rest suck? Even though I've only heard
Ben sing on Half, I was under the impression that he was at least a
halfway decent singer. Oh yeah, he did sing some backups on Spoonman.
I was hoping we would hear more of him on DOTU.

for some reason jason refuses to respond on the list....

those who supported the channel may still withdraw their support.
eveyrone who supported the application may wish to write seth and get a
log of last night's irresponsible conduct on the channel.

we don't need a tyrant running our irc channel. in fact, i don't think we
need to register it or need a bot.

this isn't personal; this is an objection as a list member and regular of
the channel and yes, it wil be taken seriously.

Yeah, that's right gang. A permanant member of the #somms hot tub was
threatened with a permanent ban from the channel itself by the little tyrant
fuck Jason once he has it registered. In his own words, he says #somms will
be his. He constantly refered to the channel as "mine". So, if he won't talk
about it on the list, I sure as hell will. He even banned me for a while last
night. After one of the most shitty days of the year so far he did this. I
will not stand for that shit. The channel belongs to all of us. He's hardly
ever in there, I should know, I'm in there all the time. Most of the regulars
can verify that. So who is he to say who can and can not use the channel that
is for the list? Just a little fair warning Jason, I wouldn't show your face
around #somms in the near future. And don't bother ever coming to WA either,
cause if you do I will have a field day beating the living shit out of you.
And another thing Jason, don't fuck with the Thug, especially when he asks
you not to. He doesn't take kindly to that, and has a real good memory for
shit like that. I might just have to call the KTMS into action against this
egotistical little fuckhead. And not saying anything about your actions to
the list is sooooo Nothingman all over again. One would think you'd have
learned a little lesson from Nothinggate and figured out we don't like to be
screwed. You haven't heard the last from me.

Subject: undernet.

registering a channel on the undernet has one purpose and one purpose
only: to give an established channel a regular place to meet and allows
you to run a bot.

you have to document that the channel is being used regularly. that's
the reason you have to give names of 10 regular users.

the application is posted to alt.irc.undernet on usenet wehre it sits for
14 days. it sits there to document any objections individuals have to
the channel.

if people can testify that no one uses the channel, and that the names
there are false and that the person registering the channel has bragged
that he is using names of people who aren't on the channel ever, if there
are enough convincing and serious complaints, the applicaiton *will* be
denied. this isn't EFnet.

i was all for registering the channel; but once again we had the
nothingman situation. because i was too lazy to do it myself, or any of
the 'regulars' (who if you don't like you at least know are around and you
can trust) -- we now have a power-hungry megalomaniac banning anyone who
says osmething he doesn't like.

in case you were interested, i would have made it a standard policy that
anyone on the list would be opped, and people would only be de-opped if
they abused that power. kicks aren't serious, you do that asa joke
sometimes. bans, however, are VERY serious, and are only done when people
are being abusive verbally to another channel member.

jason, this isn't *your* channel. the channel belongs to the list, and
the list members. go ahead and register it. none of us will visit it.
what satisfaction are you deriving from this??

this is why i HATE irc and hadn't been on since january. i watched a
community of friends get destroyed by one power hungry individual who had
no other way to prove their worth than by running a bot on irc. it's very
sad, actually.

jason, you are never on the channel. it's very odd. why does this mean
so much to you?

i do not understand t his... jason, why are you doing this? do you think
that you can drive us off of irc? why do you have to control the channel
that this l ist meets on? is this a personal vendetta against seth? (i'm
reaching here, gang, i am just trying to figure out his motivation for
running a bot on any channel we go to.)

we do not need registration... or a bot. and no matter what you do,
jason, we will find a place to meet. you cannot pull the usual EFnet
tricks on undernet.

we are allowed to meet where we want to, jason. you have no right or

true, but Chris's overdubbing can do some mind-boggling stuff. Also, with

at the risk of being flamed yet again but the elders, i must say i
agree. maybe i just shouldn't agree with anything anyone says. seems
like the agree-ers get flamed for agreeing while the original posters
do not. uh oh, i guess i'm in for it now. just one quick thought
though, why in hell would i join a list like this just to put down
the group? seriously, people. if i didn't like SG, i sure as hell
wouldn't have signed onto seth's webpage in the first place and
therefore wouldn't be HERE trying to further my knowledge of SG, WHOM
I LOVE TO DEATH.

my $.02 that will be up in flames in no time....

 mind riot

hey matt, sorry about all this bullshit.

____
warm and sweet
swinging from a window's ledge
tight and deep
one last sin before i'm dead
a sucking holy wind
will take me from this bed tonight
and bloody wits
another hits me and i have to say goodbye...
