My dad really digs FOBD and Outshined. I also got him into AIC's acoustic
stuff (SAP/Jar Of Flies). He also does that "Here thay come to snuff the
Rooster..." He just does it to piss me off. It works!

I had the best dream last night.. It was Lollapalooza, and Soundgarden
was onstage... And the weird thing is, only three people were there..
In spite of this lack of an audience, Soundgarden played beautifully..
and they played Boot Camp and Never Named along with some songs that
they played on the Lolla tour.. And then Burden In My Hand came on the
radio and they all stopped playing and we all listened to it and then
they started playing again. I guess this was cause they like listening
to themselves when they're on the radio =) And I was bootlegging the
whole thing, and the tape came out great.. and Ben was talking about
Launch.. it was one of the most fucked up dreams.. but I was depressed
when I woke up in my own bed.. Oh well.. It was still a pretty good
dream.

Personally, seeing that SG are the best band ever that no-one is
worthy of being covered by them! However, another Sabbath cover would
be cool seeing how good Into The Void is. Maybe Supernaught or Black
Sabbath would be way cool! On the subject of SG covers, has anyone
heard the Ohio Players version of Fopp cause I aint. Is it funky like
the SG version or not? And what does Fopp mean anyway? Is it just a
dance step or what? And did anyone get to hear their cover of The
Beatles "She's So Heavy"? It was supposed to be cool.

As for my SG unplugged set list, which they will never do incidently:
1. Burden In My Hand
2. Toy Box
3. Switch Opens
4. Fell On Black Days
5. Mind Riot
6. Somewhere
7. Overfloater
8. Black Hole Sun
9. My Wave (jazzy version! - a bit like Swing On This by AIC)
I reckon it would soon unreal. With trumpets and stuff!
10. Power Trip
11. Like Suicide
12. Seasons (with the whole band playing as well)

Well there ya go. Just wasted a while thinking about something that
doesn't really matter in the long run!

really neat stuff, and I ended up going home with the Day I Tried To
Live 12" complete with stencil, a Down On The Upside promo poster, an
Outshined single, three promo thingies for Prick, Temple of the Dog, and
Toadies, and a Soundgarden video bootleg from Seattle in 1992. Now, I'm
not a big fan of video bootlegs, but this one is just great. The audio
is great, and whoever shot it is onstage, so you get closeups of the
band.. Gun is kinda fucked up (which is the beginning song), but the
rest of the bootleg is great. This is the best video boot I've ever
seen =) Well, I'm gonna go and bask in my soundgarden glory =)

but if I remember correctly, when you called that A&M 800 number thinge
for Superunknown clips it let you listen to Spoonman, The Day I Tried To
Live, My Wave, and Fell on Black Days.. and all those songs were
released as singles.. Black Hole Sun originally wasn't intended to be
released as a single.. TDITTL was going to be the 2nd single for
Superunknown but BHS got a lot more airplay, so they went with that song
for the 2nd single. So I think BUTOW for the next single, then Never
Named.. that's going by the 800 number thinge.. unless another song off
DOTU gets tons of airplay and SG changes their mind =)

This makes me wonder what we as SOMMS people do. I know most of us are high
school & college kids (like me) but even those kids often work. Me being the
number cruncher statistic person I wonder the demographics of my beloved
SOMMS. You know: average age, male to female ratio, persons under/over the
15-25 age group, favorite band member, jobs, spoken languages, percentage
from specific countries / continents, favorite type of cheese, etc. Hm... if
I were to set-up about 50 simple, 1-5 word answer questions would enough
people respond to make my 'survey' valid at all? I realize all the non-N.
American / non-Aussies (who seem to be the largest list voices) lurk & don't
say much... would they spend the few minutes to answer my questions? Hm,
probably not, but if you ARE non-N.American or non-Aussie & ARE interested
give me a buzz. And if you are let me know too I guess. I'm just interested
in communicating with the apparent list minority.

true. but it would certainly be a treat to see him strumming
along to one of his own little ditties. maybe mailman or drawing flies?
an acoustic solo performance by matt of fresh tendrils? <dreaming> it
would be cool if soundgarden were to swap instruments for one song, ala
alice in chains' love song from _sap_. I can see it now: ben on lead
guitar, matt on rhythm, chris on drums and kim on bass and vocals. that
would *rock*.

to frank, the idea of soundgarden merchandise is cool, but I think
that there is another area you could be focusing your attention on -
hater. I recently bought their shirt (with the cover art on front), and I
think you could do a lot for them. maybe if they release something in the
future you could see your way to working up some cover art or shirts or
something? it's probably pie in the sky, but it can't hurt to ask.

as for sg, I have only one idea for a shirt. I agree that their
next line (commercialism warning here, steve) should focus more on their
early history, stuff before superunk. of course that wouldn't be quite
what management has in mind, but you could sell a truckload to us. my
shirt would have soundgarden written in lowercase on the front of a white
shortsleeve. the back would have a big bmf wheel (and as good as dancey's
original is, maybe a new kozik rendition of the old favourite would be
more than interesting?), with "ol' big bad ass circle of power's comin' to
get you!" inscribed underneath. in the absence of a shirt bearing seth's
papal visage, it sounds like a good list shirt to me :)

lastly (primarily aimed at australian listers), I have heard from
three separate record stores here in brisbane that burden is coming out
*today*. I almost wouldn't believe two of them together (brashs and the
record market), but brisbane's best record haven - skinnys - says that
today is the day. so mark your calendars and shop around on your lunch
break, because we could luck out.

very lastly, to behold the absolute physical manifestation of
soundgarden's music live and uninhibited, don't forget to tune into the
dave letterman vs. jackie chan bout this wednesday. turn the volume down,
turn up your copies of badmotorfinger, sit back and watch the drunken
master himself run up some very high walls.

Hm... standard baseball style shirt - button up - on the back "T. COBB" and
his number (I know numbers weren't used until the 20s in New York but at the

UGH! Just read Steve's post about the same dang shirt idea listed above. Oh
well!

the whole merchandising situation:
I'll second the motion on no band photos; I personally like the Kickstand
tshirt & that general idea. And I'm not for printing the band name... I'd
rather people not know what my shirt relates to & them ask. I remember the
looks I got all through high school wearing my generic black tee with "BAD
RELIGION" in red across the front (c: I also like including song qoutes but
not song titles. Also black & white tees are old, cliche & boring. I'm all
for off-whites, tans, browns, drab greens, greys; I like 'dirty' colors.

I like this idea: A shirt idea for Never the Machine forever would be great.
The back could read: 'check mate, watch machine die' while the front could
have an artist's rendition of the song / the machine / whatever. Something
like a menacing metal dog with 'corporate America' (or whatever you think the
machine represents) scratched on it standing on a chess board with a pawn
about to 'take' him. The pawn could have 'Soundgarden' or something to
represent it symbolically ('youth' maybe) on it in little letters.
