Subject: More on the Shirts

It seems a lot of people are getting spun up about the SOMMS t-shirts.
Hopefully, we're not on the verge of another flame war. Anyway, my thoughts
are this.

I paid (I think) $11.80 for the shirt and shipping.
I'm guessing the USPS charges about $2 for the shipping,
so the shirt actually cost me less than $10.

Realistically, what do you expect from a $10 shirt?
The t-shirt itself is good quality. It has two sleeves
and an opening for my head. Granted, the front
graphic may not be what you expected, and the contrast
on the fork image may be poor. But truthfully, what
do you expect from a $10 shirt?

I run a youth program on the weekends. I've got 40+ people
ranging in age from 11-21. Last fall, I bought all of them
shirts with our logo on the back. It was nowhere near as
intricate as the fork image. The shirts alone were $11 each.
With the layout and silkscreen, final cost was close to $15
each. Point being that I paid roughly 50% more for a shirt
that involved less.

The moral to the story is this: You get what you pay for.
If you were expecting a store-quality shirt, you should
have expected to pay close to store prices, even a little
bit higher (volume). Seeing what the cost was, I think it
should have either (a) raised a red flag (What are we going
to get for $10) or (b) lowered expectations. I was expecting
a $10 dollar shirt, and that's exactly what I got.

My $0.02

When you buy a shirt from a wholesaler, or someone who prints the unmarked
shirt, you do not and should not pay anywhere near what it costs in stores.
I don't know how many people ordered shirts, but the relationship is the
more shirts you buy, the less they should cost. I also don't think that
anyone was really complaining about the actual shirt, just the image on it.

What do people expect from a $10 shirt? To get what they paid for. What
should they expect? Exactly that.

<OPINION>
Who is this guy to dictate or even suggest how any other human being should
behave? Bravo to Caryn for ramming Lawnmower Man's point right straight
back up his ass. The list is a FORUM, not an oligarchy, republic, monarchy,
or any other type of body where the few rule over the many. I am personally
outraged that this idiot would ever consider Seth to be "our leader". With
all due respect to Seth, and although much is due, he is still only a member
of the list. His admin duties do NOT include being a moderator. (except to
flame you if you post to the wrong address or deviate from the subject
material too far.) Nor do his duties call on him to lead the list members
in any fashion.

LM's opinion is stereotypical of many egocentric elitist jerks in this
country who believe that they know how things should be. It was totally
couched in that passive-aggressive tone that indicates to me that the writer
has much in common with other control freaks.

"But keep in mind that as a list administrator, you are held to a higher
standard.
It's expected that as the "leader" of these people sharing a very cool
common interest, that you don't incite rage and unrest."

Incite rage and unrest? How will we riot? Send a flurry of hate mail?
Crash someone's server? Who the fuck does this guy think he's talking to, a
bunch of children? How republican (not the party) of him to be of the
opinion that we as adults could not handle a little flame war between Seth
and Nothingman. What an asshole.

By the way, who's higher standard are we supposed to hold Seth to?
Lawnmower Man's or some other?

Seth certainly doesn't need validation or acceptance from me or anyone else
for that matter, but I would like to say that he also doesn't need some
sanctimonious, self inflated altruist to remind him of his place on the
list. To Lawnmower Man I send a loud and very clear, FUCK YOU.

Subject: Re: New on the list

I've been on the list for about 2 weeks now. I wanted to read many of
the entries before I would be so bold as to send my own. I've seen
people commenting that the list is like a family or common interest
group. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that I should get to know a
little about the list before adding my two cents (Call it hazing if
you will).

I don't have all the info on the shirt incident so I shouldn't
comment. However, I do feel that both sides should have a forum to
complain about what happened without worrying who gets
offended.(Especially if peoples hard earned $ is involved!) The same
should be said of the "Kim" incident. We do not know all of the facts,
thus how can we pass judgement either way!

Anyway, I hope that my thoughts are welcomed in this group and I hope
to exchange ideas with many of you. I am new to the net but not new to
SG. If anyone else on the list is from the Deep South and saw the New
Orleans show I'd like to hear from you!

Thanks,

addicted to noise reported a couple of months ago that layne was
definitely not going to be a part of the second mad season recordings. but
keep in mind that they also reported that matt played on a song from the
_beautiful girls_ soundtrack (which appears to be horribly false), so take
that with a grain of salt. despite all the conflicting information about

something which I hope atn *is* on the money with is their planned
chat sessions with musicians from the lollapalooza festival. it looks like
they are going to have quite a few acts walking through their virtual
lounge. unfortunately, I wouldn't imagine that soundgarden will be
champing at the bit to take part in any of these sessions, after their
stated ambivalence towards the whole process, unless they had some control
over the situation. if it does happen, and you do get on, just remember
not to ask any goofy questions, because that is what seems to turn the
band off (how surprising!).

For US-folks the DOtU UK lp shouldn't cost any more than $30... you should be
able to get it from any store that special orders from Phantom (the nation's
biggest import company) because they have recently added it to their
catalogue.

As for the PN 7", I've seen prices ranging from $4 to $9.

Subject: THE BeST SG ALBuM

My two cents = SUPERUNKNOWN is the best SG album.

Why you ask? Here's the reasons:

1.	4th of July, Fell on Black Days. 'nuff said
2.	First album to actually bring SG, in my opinion, some
	recognition.
3.	My favorite songs are all on it.
4.	I named my BBS after it.
5.	I know all the words to it.
6.	The songs aren't hard to figure out chordwise.
7.	It's by SG so it HAS to be good.
8.	It has funky upside-down letters.
9.	The cover is cool.
10.	It just IS.
