Well, I'm DYING because I didn't get to see Chris on his damned
birthday. I hope EVERYONE is HAPPY now. I know that ALL of you conspired to
keep me away from him today. Thank you SO fucking much. Heheheh... paranoia
is cool. Jerm, you are such a tease!! "wait, what shirt?" God... just
SHOOT me now!! ;)
Ok... just a quick note that has VERY LITTLE Soundgarden content: I saw
Three Fish at Trees tonight, and although I'm sure they were very good at
what they did, I think the music sucked. Too new age-ish for me, I guess.
What other kind of band burns incense at their shows, thereby driving half
the audience out the door? I watched them for about five minutes, and then I
joined my friends who work at Trees at the front door. We kept talking about
how much we did not like the music. Andy kept yelling out "Play Evenflow!!"
All of us were snickering, and making fun of the music. I am going straight
to hell for sure now. I feel lower than a snake's belly. The band was
really cool about it, though. At one point Jeff said "This song is going to
be on our new album..." And then they played the intro to Evenflow. After
the club closed, I stayed to chat with my friends, and I ended up meeting the
guys from the band. These are THE nicest people you could ever hope to make
acquaintances with. Jeff Ament is SUCH a sweetheart. We joked around a bit,
and then I took some pix (which I will get developed and scanned ASAP). I
can't believe I was such a shit as to be making fun of their music. I am
worse than pond scum. Damn me straight to hell. But all in all, it was a
groovy night. I don't know if you'll like it, Caryn... but what the hell?!?
It's only a few bucks, and if you hang around afterward, you can meet the
guys. That's even better than the music, 'cuz they're all so groovy. Oh
yah... SG content. Ummm... Jeff Ament was in TOTD with Chris and Matt.
 There ya go.

Subject: SG oddbits...

Hey ho folks,

For sure - been a while since my last post, but hey, still here, lovin' the
chat.

Couple o' little bitz of info, trivia and questions for you all:

Did any Oz sommsters see the BIMH video on RAGE last weekend??
Carolyn? Lee? Stephen? Hanging to see it - a most awesome choice of
single.

You Am I - nice to see the Lolla punters have given them
the thumbs
up. Got the new album 'bout a month back ( gotta love the record company
promo copies!! ) - a good value album, but sees them taking a new approach
to their sound and progression. SG and Hater get a mention in the thankyou
credits.

Some info on some SG goodies - excuse me if this ain't news, but
I just found the PN 2 - part box set thing today. The deal is, part one is the
PN single ( in jewel case format,,retailing for $14 Aus. - Youch!! ) . To
complete
the set, you then buy the box set thing also for $14 Aus which also contains
the Eleven interview disc. It's tempting, but I don't know if I can afford
it, with moving house and all. Anyone else seen this??
And how's about this - heard of a reversible SG t-shirt??
My housemate - to - be Andrew works at Blockbuster Music in Melbourne, and
they recently held a competition where the prize was what appears to be
a promo only reversible SG T-shirt, with what might be the DOTU cover on
the black front, and when turned inside - out it's orange with a SG logo.
The details were a little sketchy - Andrew told me this in a crowded, smoky pub.
Also saw the PN T-shirt today, with the silver band silhouette on the breast
and the PN
label on the back - $30 Aus. - Not bad, but still waiting for a DOTU cover T.

Speaking of t-shirts, looks like we may be a little closer
to resolving the
Nothingmangate fiasco. I will put out the call again for anyone possibly
ending up
with a spare SOMMS t-shirt I will gladly buy one - drop me a line. I don't
really
fancy fishing out my ratty old SOMMS t-shirt ( White BMF logo on front, and
SOMMS
written circular on back in blue with red revolver in middle ) to wear when
they play OZ
next year.

While we're on the subject, the SG tour rumours have died
down slightly,
probably overshadowed by imminent tours of the Pres. of USA, Oasis, and the
Livid Festival lineup featuring Garbage, Everclear, Ash, The Jesus Lizard
( BONUS! t.J.L. twice in one year!! ). The bet still rests for
an appearance on next year's Big Day Out bill. let's hope their set list
from Lolla
is the same next year - a killer set, IMHO!

There you have it - my 0.05 cents worth ( no 2 cents here in
Oz, removed
from circulation years ago.)

Keepin' it altogether ( or trying desperately )

hey,

anyone know Chris' middle name? i've heard a whole bunch of names from
different people off the list, and i'm REALLY confused.
i also think it was Shroom, who said it was Christopher John Cornell. if
that's right, then is it John, or Johnathan? just wondering : )

ok. I went to the backstage entrance at the mainstage. The security
guards didn't know how to handle it. And i really don't think they cared
too much. I went back again later to see if they had found out
anything.... nope.

so, after seeing the Melvins on the second stage, i showed the package to
the announcer. He was cool about it, but he hadn't seen Chris and
couldn't take it either, cause he was hangin out at the smaller stages.

so, to make a long story short, i had to throw them on stage after
Soundgarden's set. I was in the second row, so it wasn't a problem. I
hung around for a few minutes to see if anyone picked them up. I never
saw anyone pick them up.... we can only hope at this point.

Hi all, this is my first post here, and I'm sure you'll be able
to tell after it!
Okay, first... does anyone know what the current package is for
the membership to the fan club?? Is it worth the 12 dollars?? And, can
you get tickets for the upcoming SG headlining tour?? Thanks in advance
for the info.
Also, I picked up two SG promo CDs today. I got the Pretty Noose
promo CD in the cardboard digipak for 1.99, and a radio show thing
called "into the upside" for 7.99- Is that a good price for those?? The
radio thing was a preview for the new album with a song then a minute of
comments about it. It has like 6 or 7 songs off of DOTU.
                                Thanks, josh

it is far too easy to be upset with nothingman over the sommshirt
debacle. as much as I admire nothingman for undertaking what would have
been a sizable task, he wasn't the only guy putting his hand up to do it,
and so now that he has been give the job and, in many lister's views,
bungled it, we have every right to be frustrated and upset. in light of
the fact that we got our monies in like good little children on time,
purely due to the fact that our U.S list members could have them for the
lolla tour, nothingman's lack of timelieness and (seeming) abundance of
silence on the issue has made us all a bit antsy.

around the house and on the town we won't be satisfied.

even though this came from the birthday boy's mouth, I'm still not
sure to believe that it was chris on lead guitar on tighter and tighter.
surely that was kim? it sounds like kim. I wouldn't have thought chris
would have had all those blues licks inside him, at least not to the
extent of the two fantastic lead breaks featured on the song.

I just read that a song from pearl jam's upcoming album is all
about pop music and the sort of radio-friendly/follow the yellow brick
road stuff that seems to make up a large portion of radio playlists. it
would be cool if soundgarden (with their song 'karaoke') and pearl jam
(with 'mankind') could get together and do one of those old-style split
singles. but whose tune would be better? <grinning>

lastly, for jamie, alice in chains are about to release an
unplugged album (which *must* be better than their last effort), and jerry
cantrell has followed chris' lead and is appearing in cameron crowe's new
feature film 'jerry maguire'. it's only a cameo, but if it is as funny as
chris' performance in singles, then jerry will be off to a good start :)

Okay, since I'm curious (and I'm a glutton for punishment), if everyone
sends me (privately) their list of their top 5 SG songs, I'll use highly
scientific methods (like, uh, scrawling them down on a piece of paper) and
post the results eventually... People can write to me until, say, next
Sunday (today's the 21 of July so that'd make nexy Sunday the 29 I guess).
That's a week... So come on all of you people who usually lurk (that means
you Brandi) send them to me, okay? Okay...

Well, I posted the message about the album rankings about a week ago and i've
only gotten 10 responses. Just in case someone didnt catcht it or is new to
the list, I asked you ppl to rank the 6 SG albums (Screaming Life/Fopp,
Ultramega OK, Louder than Love, Badmotorfinger, Superuknown, Down on the
Upside) and email me your rankings to rea47935@pegasus.cc.ucf.edu. Then I
said I would post the results and some stats to the list. Thanks to all the
ppl who sent in their rankings. I have the rankings ready as they stand, but
I feel that with only 10 responses, the results would be kinda incomplete.
Theres like 550 ppl on the list all im asking is to have like 30 rankings
total in order to have an accurate survey. You can send in your rankings
even if you dont have all 6 albums. However, I do ask that you have at least
4 of them, otherwise it wouldnt be fair. Well I'll stop bitching to you
people now.

P.S. Right now Louder than Love is dead last, getting it's ass

I realized a while ago that there might be good news for us lucky enough to
be going to the Gorge Lolla (Tues, July 30). The Saturday before the show
Pantera and White Zombie are playing the Gorge. This will _hopefully_ draw
the dickheads that are just there to hurt people away from us at Lolla that
are there to here good music. (I would also imagine that this giant Buttrock
show would be cheaper) I'm crossing our fingers!!!

Other Gorge show news. (Reported by the Gorge concert Line)

If you plan to stay at the official Gorge Camp Site you must buy tickets
from Ticketmaster!!! (Can you believe that, there's probably another $8
Serv. Charge)

The Parking Lot opens at 10:00 am.

Gates open at 11:00 am.

No professional recording devices or cameras. -- I assume this means you can
bring disposable cameras.

You can bring a paper bag w/ food in it.

Recommended bringing: Sun screen, Blanket, Hat, Sunglasses, Something warm
for the evening.

Obvious Stuff: No Re-entry, No Coolers, No bottles, No Cans.

All pretty Self Expanatory. See Ya There!!
