Hi there!

I recently saw a strange tape copy of BMF in my local record store... It had
exactly the same track listing & credits, but the cover was different. The
best way I can describe it would be 'psycadelic', a sort of multi-coloured
version of the wheel on the front.... Can anyone shed any light ?

By the way, for all those complaining about Lollapalooza........ Try living
in the UK, we don't even get the chance :(

Cheers Now,
Warren.

I've listened to that portion of Bootcamp on head phones as loud as I could
stand, and I wouldn't doubt if that was Ross Perot (or Dana Carvey). The
voice has that Texas twang to it and the same cadence as Perot.

By the way, apologies to all concerned regarding yesterdays faux-pas with

me even more excited) but this time i dunno i'm just here. :) maybe it
hasn't sunk in yet. maybe i'm scared, after what i heard about the
crowd in front of the stage, which is where i plan to be for
soundgarden's entire set, because when i saw them last time i had to sit
really far away and it sucked and i was missing out on all the fun on

hi guys,

shroom and i were talking about chris (who else?). and for those of you
wondering, we *did* discuss the music a little. now aren't you all proud of
us?? good, i knew you would be. anyway, i asked her if she could *actually*
have sex with chris, and in the process, get AIDS, would she do it? and is it
worth it?

and so i'm thinking to myself, "hmm, i'm going to post this to the list
(SORRY seth)." so guys, *ahem* GIRLS, if you could have sex with chris and
get aids in the process, would you???

this oughta be interesting, and reply to ME, not the list!!!

No, this is not a "teeny bopper" list. And the reason that everyone
"accepts" my comments is because I've been through hell and back in flame
wars to earn the right to post my own personal thoughts. Ok... hell and back
is a slight exaggeration. ;) And I think that for quite a few people on the
list, "tolerate" would be a more accurate word than "accept." Now as to the
particular subject at hand (Chris/Aids)... everyone on this list can post
whatever they choose, as long as it's Soundgarden related. The last time I
checked, Chris Cornell was still in the band. And kindly remember... what
seems "ridiculous" to some is entertaining to others. One quick question...

In retrospect, Shroom is right. What makes this whole thing so great
is the right to voice whatever the hell you want. Who the hell am I
to complain about content? My only problem is that I wouldn't see
myself or other guys posting things to the 7 Year Bitch page like
"Ohh, that lead singer is hot! What position would you like her in?"
This is just because I don't think others are interested in my
fantasies (which have nothing to do with Jr. High Girls Bathrooms) :)
Also, I don't thnk anyone here are teeny boppers. Actually, I
repect the fiestiness of everyone. I think true Soundgarden fans are
unique in the sense of standing HARD for their beliefs. As much as
this list is dedicated to Soundagarden, it is dedicated us fans and
learning about one another...and a flaming here and there teaches us

Taylor,

Obviously, you are entitled to your own opinion, and likewise, so are we.
Shroom has defended her position time and time again, and no comments about
Jr. High bathroom talk is going to change anything. Accept that. We are
obsessed with Chris Cornell's sexy body (and everything else, too), and as
much as some list members want to, we cannot be kept in a jar and contained
because someone doesn't "like" our posts. Just delete and move on, it's that
simple, I do it all the time. This *is* the Internet and freedom of speech
*does* exist, and Chris Cornell *is* a member of Soundgarden, so I don't feel
we've broken any sacred vows.

Oh yeah, before I forget. Sommsters: when Chris sings the part in BIMH, "all
the little pigs have God", do you guys think it is a fererence to Christians?
I know he's used the term "fish" to describe them, (Are you a Christian? CC:
No, I think they're little fish in a big pond, and I don't want to be a fish.
*I haven't read that article in years, so that's not the correct wording).
Anyway, just a thought. Horray for me!! I'm talking about the music. BTW, for
inquiring minds, so far there is no one on this list who would contract the
AIDS virus for a shot at sleeping with Chris. I'm sure he'll be glad to know
that :-)

[speaking as the loudest defender of shroom's right to lust publicly]

okay, shroom:

do you REALLY find this topic amusing???? does ANYONE on the list
(besides the person who posted it) really find this question amusing? if
so, step forward. please! i mean, if i'm being an uptight, repressed
bitch with no sense of humor, im' sure there are no shortage of people
who will tell me so! ;-)

there is a HUGE difference between this dumbfoundedly STUPID question,
and shroom's playful lusting. people fucking DIE from this disease.
obviously the person who posed the question has never lost a friend or
relative to the disease, or done any volunteer work with HIV+ people.

or you wouldn't have even THOUGHT about the question.

this isn't even girls' bathroom talk.

can you say what you want on this list? by all means. so right now, i
am going to say that i found that post to be the most idiotic, offensive,
immature and disturbing post on this list since i've been here. imho, of
course.

i told seth last night that i wasn't going to respond. i wouldn't have
said a word if shroom hadn't charged in here, guns a'blazing, defending
flutter girl's 'right' to post that thought. you're right, shroom, she
can post what she wants. but if she does, then i have the right to tell
her how unbelievably offended i was by it. she makes the list look
stupid, she makes women look stupid.

i am not going to sit here and tell you aids horror stories. because
obviously they would have no effect anyway. i won't tell you about the
friends that i lost in the 80's, the companion of a college friend who i
used to visit in the hospital weekly... whatever. to you it's a joke.

i am just going to write this off that you had no idea what you were
saying. fun is fun, but sex is not worth dying for. chris cornell or no
chris cornell. i mean, what is he? a fucking god or something? he's
just a person... a talented, attractive person... with a wicked sense of
humor... but <shakes head> this is sad. it's sad that you don't have
enough sense of yourself and your worth as a person that you would... oh
nevermind.

i'm not making any sense, and i'm sure i'm talking to a brick wall anyway.

This is not funny!!! I know people who are faced with this type situation.
Believe me they are not laughing. Do you have any idea what it would be like
to really love someone and know that you risk getting or giving a "deadly"
disease to them.. Do you have any idea what it would be like to love someone
and want to have children with them, knowing you could pass a death sentences
on them.. How do you know there are not people on this list that are HIV
positives or have full blown Aids..

Yes, there are ways to take precautions, but the ugly truth is always
there....you could pass the disease on.. The people I know who have or had
Aids, usually have a great sense of humor. They make jokes to keep each
others
sprites up, to try and make their days (and their love ones days) filled with
some type of normalcy. But the sadness is always there.

I have kept my mouth shut on all the immature talk that has been written on
this list... But I will not stand by and let sick humor like this go by. If
you think it was just a joke, then I'm feel sorry for you. Death and Aids is
not a joke!!!!!

Oh Caryn, here we go again. First of all, I *was* serious, it wasn't a joke
like you've come to believe. I wasn't taking a cheap shot at AIDS. I was
talking to Shroom last night and she said, "I would do most anything for that
man." And so I asked her, not to make fun of her lusting after him, but out
of curiousity. Which is also the reason why I posted it to the list. *Out of
curiousity*. I wanted to know whether there was some female out there who
would actaully go *that* far and die for him. Luckily, there's only one
person who would be that stupid, and she's the one you should direct your
soapbox at, not me.

I don't think anyone on the list thought that my post was amusing, it wasn't
meant to be amusing. It was a very serious question, and the replies I
received were serious likewise. So no, you're not an "uptight repressed bitch
with no sense of humor."

Yes Caryn, I know ppl die from this disease. And yes, I've seen ppl die from
it, which is why I wondered if anyone thought Chris was *that* worth it. I
certainly don't. And neither does Shroom.

But Caryn, is it really necessary for you to tell me how it made the list and
women in genreal look stupid? I think that's taking it a bit too far. The
only person who made the list look stupid was whoever said they were willing
to contract to AIDS virus for a shot at sharing a bed with Chris.

Lastly, I apologize for ticking you off. Caryn, I am sorry that my post has
so obvioulsy offended you and that my post hit upon such a touchy subject. I
realize that regardless of the intent, it was not in good taste, and I should
have kept it between myself and Shroom. I also extend my apology to the
entire list, many of whom have probably been offended as well. And also to
you Seth, I am sorry you have to put up with this kind of bullshit and I am
sorry for stepping over the line on this one.

I can understand where you're coming from completely Caryn, having lost
a very close friend to AIDS while still in high school. BUT, I'm still going
to defend Flutter on this one, not just because she's a friend, but because
I'm still interested in hearing the end result of the poll. Your point that
Chris isn't a God was true (although many of us enjoy claiming that he is)...
but yet I've heard MANY women also claim that they'd do ANYTHING to sleep
with him. I think the AIDS aspect was the easiest way to test that
statement. Yes, I may be "psycho and obsessed," but there are some people
out there who are downright scary... and might actually answer "yes" to that
question. It's just a personal curiousity to want to know the answer to this
one. But I don't see how asking that question made the list OR women look
stupid. Surely everyone can understand that each subscriber has his or her
own personal agenda with the list? Wait... before you get mad and want to
reach through my computer screen to shake the hell out of me, please read
on...

For anyone else wishing to flame, please know that I have to take part
blame for the question being asked. Flutter had asked me it first, and then
I encouraged her when she said she wanted to post the question to the list.
Neither of us realized that anyone would take offense to the question, so
therefore we saw no harm in posting it. She and I are truly sorry to cause
any frustration and disgust among the listers. Please accept our apologies
and assurances that we will seriously consider the effect of our future posts
to the list. We weren't trying to make a joke, we were just curious as to
the end result. It was in terrible taste, and again, we are TRULY sorry.

same things we all are. but who's to judge him for what he has done in the
past, or what he does now. I think the thing that appeals to us from his
lyrics, is how close they are to how we are feeling right at the moment. I
could say that me and Chris have somethin' in common 'cause of that, and I
think we can all say that. hey, when someone gets on my nerves, I say keep
it off my wave, when I felt suicidal, I listened to (well now)Blow up the

he took his for granted.

Maybe its just me but i always thought it was guys who asked

From: nephend@usa.pipeline.com (nancy e phend)

Just got home from Canada (I live in Michigan). I went through
all my mail and didn't see any reviews on the 7/5 Lolla in
Barrie, Ontario. I drove 5 hours to get there and think it was
definately worth it. I am going to give a set list, but it is not
in order and is by memory. They played alot more old stuff
than I thought they would but I thought it was great.
(In no particular order)
Spoonman (opening song)
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Outshined (Excellent)
Rusty Cage (heavy moshing)
Black Hole Sun (Chris by himself)
Fell on Black Days
Jesus Christ Pose (Excellent, my favorite)
Burden in my Hand
Pretty Noose (much better than on Saturday Night Live)
Rhinosaur
Ty Cobb (crowd went wild and almost crushed me & my husband)
Drawing Flies (great)
Kickstand (more heavy moshing)
Mailman
Unknown Song-I have no idea what it was, cover song maybe.
They played for about and hour and 15 minutes, after the
Ramones and before Metallica. The Mystery Guest was the
Violent Femmes (yuk). They had alot of tshirts for sale. I
bought 4 (Lolla Butterfly, Lolla w/a little weird guy on it,
L. Grey Soundgarden with a strange drawing on front, a
"baby doll" with Lolla & a cherry on the front) All were $30
Canadian except the "baby doll" was $25 Canadian. A Lolla
hat was $30 Canadian. The sound was great, the weather
was great and Soundgarden was better than ever.

Soundgarden is my favorite band as well. When I first bought
Badmotorfinger, I thought it was just awful noise, and the singer was
one that I couldn't really sing along too. This really frustrated me,

Sam Perkins, Randy Johnson, and Stone Gossard all attended the concert.
My brother saw them in '92 and said that he like their show in '92

thought it was going to be. He said that the sound at The Showbox
sucked, you could hardly hear the vocals, and he said that Soundgarden
didn't play their best songs, they didn't play "Slaves & Bulldozers" or
"Loud Love" or any of the classics. I'm going to Lollapalooza and I

I think Sean has hit the nail on the head. Chris is just a pretty
normal guy in a band. People ask if the band reads the list. Do you
think the Crew would appreciate being treated like they are gods or
something? It's the whole Eddie Vedder situation all over again.

Humans have the tendency to immortalize and paint pretty pictures in
their heads of what celebrities are like. I think the jaded images of
a lot of the Seattle music icons also contribute to the public's
fascination. A lot of this is spawned by successful marketing and by
the artists themselves. I think it's important to remember that they

Anyway...I've finally robbed 3 or 4 convenience stores and came up
with enough dough to attend this Saturday's "Dollarpalooza" in
Syracuse, NY! YES! Actually I just cashed a paycheck and found
someone else to drive..anyway:

My lime green gremlin is filled with your typical Lollapalooza
survival gear. CD player, Tickets, Handcuffs, SPF45 Sunscreen, Food,
and my Molson variety pack of beer. I'm unsure which brand is the
official beer of Soundgarden, so I've loaded up on Molson Canadian,
Brador, XXX, Ice, Light, Excel, Labatt's, Export, Golden etc.

As some of you know...One of the best parts of Lolla is the party in
the parking lot...So, In my Molson induced stupor... I'm finally going
to fulfill one of my dreams. I'm going to crank the following tunes
from the Pacer's Kraco stereo:

Soundgarden - Big Dumb Sex (Remix)
Revolting Cock's - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy
Nine Inch Nails - Get Down Make Love
Alice in Chains - We Die Young
Tad - Jack
Smashing Pumpkins - I am One
Mudhoney - Overblown
RATM - Killing in the name of...
Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song
Metallica - Last Caress/Green Hell

and the finale:
Soundgarden - Sub Pop Rock City (I'll be inserting the boot 7" versions
lyrics about being on the road for too long ;-)

I hope to scare the small children in the parking lot ;-)

or maybe I'll play the Carpenter's Greatest Hits while taking hits from a 20
foot water bong...dunno.

"we've only just begun........."

So, I've got the tickets (soon), the directions to the venue...my side car
of money...but I need a place to stay the night. I've gone online and I
have the addresses of a swarm of hotels and motels in the Syracuse
area...but I don't know where any of them are in relation to the Fairgrounds.

Q: Does anybody know a decent motel close to the Fairgrounds, preferably on
Rt. 690; that is relatively cheap for a standard room ($50-$75/night with a
check in time of 1pm) ??????

I'm planning on seeing:

Screaming Trees (front and center)
Rancid (maybe?)
Ramones (front)
Soundgarden (front and stage right)
Metallica (way back)

on the mainstage and...

You Am I

on the second stage. Hopefully the boys in YAI will answer my screams of
"Where can I get a copy of your double live CD!"

Q: In relation to the times of the other bands...who else should I check
out on the Second Stage? I've only heard of Girls Against Boys. I've never
heard of the other bands.

Every Lolla I've been to had an act that was the official "Rush to the
Foodcourt" Artist. In Syracuse, the special guest is the Wu Tang Clan. I
think they may be this year's winner.

If you don't read a review from me by Monday morning...I'm in jail.

I don't know the song, but here's my review. Just for you :)

I don't really know Soundgarden's songs well enough to recognize all of
them. I know the hits and the one's I like. I had seen SG once before
opening for Pearl Jam and Neil Young on Aug 18, 1993 in Toronto. I just
caught the end of their set so i can't give much more info than Chris had
very short hair ;> (that was 8/18/93)

At Lolla we heard them start with Spoonman so we ran over and just caught
the end of that song and the rest of the set. Only a few songs were
unfamiliar but I have a mind like a seive when it comes to set lists.
Although the one you forwardede sounded acurate. Chirs has an AWSOME
voice. I was just amazed as he pretty much hit every note without
cheating to much. For "Black Hole Sun" Chris was alone on stage and just
arpeggiated chords as he sang it, really good :)

During the whole set (and the sets of the other acts) people amused
thgemselves by hurling water bottles at the stage (mostly empty). I don't
know if this was pissing off the bass player or if there were specific
people in the crowd who were getting to him, but he became more and more
agitated through the show. Near the end he was way out on one of the
catwalk things and he kicked in a few stage lights. They remained burned
out throughout Metallica's set.

At the end when the band was done and saying thanks and good night, he
walked over to edge of the side of the stage and started yelling at
someone in the crowd (not crew or security). He then hoisted a full
bottle of water over his head and it looked like he was gonna whip it at
the fan, but he thought better of it and instead threw the bottle to the
stage at his feet so hard that it exploded in a huge splash of water.
Then he stormed off hurling obscenities. He was really *pissed* off, but
I don't know why.

I have never heard the song Ty Cobb before, but when Chris announced it
the crowd went crazy so I paid attention. Wow. It blew me away.

intelligence (I hope I am correct in guessing your answer, Shroom)

I got an idea of something we can do with a gun....

Setlist:
(not in order)
Flower, Rusty Cage, Outshined, Jesus Christ Pose, Searching With My Good
Eye Closed, Drawing Flies, Let Me Drown, Fell On Black Days, Mailman,
Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Pretty Noose, Rhinosaur, Ty Cobb, Burden In My
Hand.

Ok.. well, it was yer normal Lolla pretty much (we really enjoyed
Ramones and Rancid) until the special guest part. We knew it was
Wu-Tang Clan playing, and not being big Wu-Tang fans, we went to sit
down over by the second stage so I could rest up :) for Soundgarden. We
waited while who we THOUGHT was Wu-Tang Clan setting up. I stopped to
tie my shoe around seven when all of a sudden I hear the so familiar
riff of Spoonman. Everyone's like "uh.. erin.." and I go "I'M TYING MY
SHOE!" And then I started RUNNING for the stage. A lot of other people
were running, too, because no one else expected it either :) I got very
close to the stage and I got absolutely wrecked.. fell down a couple
times, once in the pit during JCP - the last song - and was helped up
every time :) Chris played Black Hole Sun solo, of course, and a couple
of those "woo girls" (hehe) sitting on their boyfriend's shoulders
flashed Chris during BHS, of course, I was quite pissed about that.. I
don't know why. There's a new poll: If you saw some girls flash Chris
during his solo rendition of BHS, would you be pissed? =) I also got
whammed in the head with someone's arm as they were crowdsurfing (my
god, EVERYONE and their goddam mother was crowdsurfing) and I thought I
had a concussion :) I got close enough to see what Chris's shirt said
(btw: black jeans, orange shirt), which said "Clean & Serene" on the
back, I kinda dig that :) I got in the pit for JCP, which was fun..
some of the other pits that formed during Lolla were total testosterone
habitats :) These jocular, bare-chested guys shoving people around.. it
kinda annoyed me :) Chris said that in both the years they've done
Lolla, this one was the best: "It's beautiful up here." Guess he was
rreferring to the mountains :) And he threw his water bottle at the
end, and Matt threw his sticks (wouldn't I love to get my hands on one
of those lil souvenirs:) Well, that's all I have to say.. I wanna go
see it again, now :) And I won't bother telling you they sounded great,
cause you already know that :) That freaked me out though when they
started playing out of the blue :)

Subject: chris and the fork

can anyone recommend a good picture, preferably on the web site, where
there's a good shot of chris' fork?

i've recently developed a strong desire for one of my own, and since there's
a local guy who makes fork jewelry (tho there's nothing in his catalogue
exactly similar), i thought i'd write him and see if i could get him to make
me one. hell, if enough of you wanted to get one, i bet he'd be glad to do
it... his stuff is *not* expensive at all, like $12 for a fork necklace at
the most.

anyway... if you can advise in private mail wehre to look for a good picture
of the fork... let me know. if i get a positive answer from spoonman
creations (yes that is the name, and they were around before sg was!), i'll
post and let interested parties know...
