they played moe's here in seattle a couple of months ago and after hearing
the same type of glowing reviews we paid our $5 and saw them. after we
figured out the formula (mostly elton john) we left in mid-set.

it was interesting for about two songs and then it all started to sound the
same to me. we were thoroughly bored. anyway, my vote is: don't waster yer
money.

go see 7 year bitch instead. :) awesome show...

Hello kiddies... I got in two videos from PJ Starr yesterday. SG
compilation tapes #1 and #2. Excellent stuff. The recordings aren't great,
but she's got EVERYTHING on them. Good thing it's not possible to OD on SG.
Both versions of the "Outshined" video are on them. I'm sorry... but both
of those videos are pure sex. The main focus isn't on the band... it's on
Chris' half-naked body. Not that I'm complaining, mind you!! "Outshined"
is probably my favorite video of all time. Anyway...
Chris Cornell is SO full of shit. He doesn't want people focusing in on
his good looks, but yet he totally threw it in our faces up until a couple
years ago. Can we say hypocrite? How can he blame his shirtlessness on the
photographers and directors? Puh-leeeze. Like he couldn't have said "No, I
don't want to take my shirt off for this photo shoot."? Don't think so,
babe. I didn't even know the guy OWNED a shirt until Superunknown came out
(slight exaggeration). I don't see how he could possibly justify his blatant
"look at my sexy body" earlier attitude as something that was forced upon
him. That's ridiculous, and if he thinks we're buying it... then he's only
fooling himself. I wonder if maybe he's embarrassed by it now? Oh well...
as long as he keeps making great music, then the guy can tell himself as many
stories as he'd like. Damn, but he has a sexy body, though!!
                               <kisskiss>

but NOT AS SEXY AS ME!!!!!!!" ~ Chris Cornell

Hello all.

I need 2 tickets for the Lollapolooza at the Gorge but I have a hard time
spending almost $100 for Soundgarden and Screaming Trees.

SO if anyone has or knows anyone who has purchased Tickets and for some
reason would like to get rid of them cheaper...

or

If you know about some place that I could get them cheaper, please E-Mail me
directly.

Thanks a lot!

Is there anyone going to the Pownal, VT Lollapalooza next Tuesday? If
so let me know and we can hook up or whatever.. I'm going up with a
bunch of friends and I think it would be kinda neet to meet some list
people =) I know you're just DYING to meet Overfloater, Identity Crisis
Girl herself. (j/k!)

I think this message has some Soundgarden content in it (Lolla) but just
in case, I finally saw the second Pretty Noose video yesterday. It's
kinda dry (cause all it shows is the band playing) but the swirly stuff
is really cool, and Chris looks great =) (well, they all look great, but
Chris stole my heart. So did Keviner.) And I really dig that bald dude
at the beginning: "See them and hear them first, then ve vill talk about
them aftervard." Hehe :) I wish I could get it on tape, but my VCR
sucks.. time to pester some of my VHS-fortunate friends.. well, I'll
shut up now

I feel for you Ben. What a disappointment. Its not because SG is more
popular, though, its because people don't know how to act in a mosh
pit anymore. When I saw them at Lolla 92 it was the same, and I was
out there on the lawn (where they started moshing anywhere they could)
6 months pregnant! And it had poured half the day, so it was slippery
from the mud. I was scared to death. It used to be that people had fun
in the pit, but now too many assholes just see it as a place to hurt
people. And when you have lawn seats you don't have much control over
the situation either. There werent supposed to be mosh pits at the 92
Lolla, so instead of moshing up front people just formed a pit
whereever they felt like it (Believe me I wouldn't have been anywhere
near a pit, being pregnant and all)This is one reason I refuse to go
to outdoor concerts anymore, and why I rarely move close to the stage
inside either. You used to be able to get right up front without risk
of getting killed (jostled and pushed around maybe, but not like now).
Its really a shame.

Subject: Lolla in Des Moines!!!!

Yes I went

No I didn't see grote or B. Kinser :(

But this is what I do know:

I went 500 miles to see Soundgarden (thanks to my marvelous
girlfriend for borrowing me the cash). I loved Screaming Trees and
Ruby. Missed You Am I (Damn it). I paid 40.50 to see Soundgarden with
Screaming Trees and Ruby open in the end. But, it was definately worth it.

I'll cut to the chase. Of course Soundgarden rocked. I lost my
girlfriend during the show, and she even enjoyed it alot, and she doesn't
even like music that much. They definately had alot of energy in the
music.

1) Didn't get to see 10 minute version of "Boot Camp". :(
2) Metallica fans suck (except for a very few). They *almost* ruined
the whole show for me with their stupid mosh pits. What the fuck is the
use for them. I came for the music!!!!!! Not to run around and slam
into other males!!! For Christ sake, I wish I was a women sometimes when
I think of how stupid juvinile white trash male metallica fan boys are.
3) I met 2 great soundgarden fans who weren't on the list. One of which
was so cool, I plan on going to see him soon. He had every album and
many vinyls as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the band. Plus,
these two fans had made their own forks!!!!! In fact, that's how we
met. I didn't have the Somms shirt, but both of them came up to me after
seeing it and talked to me for a lengthy amount of time. In fact, of the
few people who I saw wearing soundgarden shirts there, they were all
pretty diehard fans. But the two guys who made the forks blew my mind.
The one guy had drove from the far side of South Dakota for the show.
The other (who I hung out with for quite awhile) was from Eau Claire
Wisconsin and had drove by himself.
4) I didn't stay for Metallica I was so pissed. Neither did the guy
from Eau Claire. He said he'd rather sleep. In fact, for the few
soundgarden shirts I saw on during the day, I saw the most as the
Metallica set started . . . walking out the door.
5) Lost my girlfriend to the opener (spoonman) due to a stupid mosh
pit. We had decided earlier to not look for each other however in the
case until after the show, so we wouldn't miss it. I wasn't going to
miss it for ANYTHING. I went to the front. Whenever I got too hot, I
would crowd surf out and rest. Doing this I made eye contact with both
Kim and Ben. It was really funny. I was yelling Ben's name while I
crowd surfed and he was staring at me. I landed in front of him and his
eyes widened. I swear he stared at me for at least 10 seconds.
6) Met a hippy looking guy (who I believe also left after the
soundgarden set) who made a sheet full of crowd sayings who was
DETERMINED to have it seen by soundgarden. I joined in to help out. I
got it to the front with him. I don't know if he got it to the band or
not or even close to over the fence, but then again he and I held it up
alot on the way up there while fighting metallica fans who could care
less about soundgardens music.
7) Wrecked a perfectly good soundgarden shirt.
8) Met a former list member from Rochester Minnesota who didn't post too
often (or maybe not at all) but forgot his name (must be never :) ).
9) Former list member was punched by Metallica fan during Screaming
Trees show because former list member was invading his space. Former
list member just wanted to get up front.
10) Metallica fans through pizza boards during final song, which might
have looked cool if you weren't worried about what was going on on the
stage. But, it pretty much pissed of the rest of us.

And the absolute kick in the ass:

Metallica fans looked apon all this as Soundgarden opening for
Metallica. That puts the iceing on the cake. I'm sorry if you are a
Metallica fan, and I really hope if you are that you aren't white trash
or a male with a small ego (There is about 10% of them who are normal I
believe, but Lolla didn't prove it), but Soundgarden is NO ONE's opening
act. And time will tell that story.

And despite all this, I had fun! Lot's of it. 40 dollors and 50 cents
worth!!!!!

Why didn't MTV put TDITtL video into rotation? I think it's fucking great,

that the opening part alone is chilling. Did anyone else think Beatles when
they heard the opening for the first time?

This has been said before: SG is not "anti" or "pro" anything. They just
love to make music, and who can blame them for wanting to reap the benefits?
Did their style of music drastically change once they became big? No? then
everyone stop bitching about selling out and commercialism. Thayil,
Cameron, Shepherd and Cornell all busted their asses, paid their dues, and
stayed humble. They WORKED to receive the kind of opportunities like the
Molson concert. When HBO pays them $2 million dollars to play a nationally
televised concert with Kim on the harp, Ben on the flute, Matt on the
chimes, and Chris singing trite soft rock lyrics, I'll start worrying. More
power to SG.

I think that's a fair price, besides i don't have Badmotorfinger on CD
so its like killing two birds with one stone.

I am a Metallica fan but please don't shoot me. I am also a Soundgarden fan,
infact after DOTU was released they got the no1 spot until Load was released
and Metallica returned at number 1. Don't just blame Metallica fans for the
crowd at Lolla, other idiots must have contributed, infact on of the
worst crowds i have experienced was at a Soundgarden concert.
It is possible that some of the morons were Soundgarden fans.
Oh well most of the Metallica fans I know are pretty cool but i agree
there are idiots out there. I'm sorry if you didn't even see Metallica live
you missed a great band.
The only outdoor concert i saw was Pearl Jam. They sold "only" 32,000
tickets so it wasn't too bad (at the same venue Guns 'n Roses sold 80,000)
and you could stand back enough to avoid the rough mosh but still have
a relatively good view of the band. Okay the food, toilet facilities,
and waiting in line sucked (plus all those stupid teeny bopper girls that
were screaming, not cheering, and went crazy when Daughter was played,
but hardly knew other songs), but Pearl Jam put on a great show.
How many people go to Lollapalooza?
Most small shows have better crowds, ie true fans that help each other out.
Again my sincere apologies for me and all other Metallica fans, I'm sure all
Soundgarden fans were well behaved.
