Dear All, To start on not too much of a downer (Little Joe), the discussion about thumbs started when someone mentioned that Kim Thayil has double joints in his ones. To everyone else Eh!!!!??? Classically trained guitarists (e.g. my Girlfriend, grade 6, Her guitar teacher, grade Loads etc) and also people who are self taught but play properly, e.g. My brothers, my uncle and myself (along with many others) don't ever play using their thumbs. My g/f says that the only instance of using your thumb is when all other digits are already being used or when you play so fast that you need extra fingers, e.g. Hendrix. Oh, and by the way Jovica, I use my Index, middle and ring fingers to play a G chord (some people use index, middle and little if their hands are too small etc.), or if circumstances permit any of my other fingers, but never, ever my thumb. That's wrong. This allows you to move round the fret board more swiftly and gives you better control as you can hold your chords in place with your thumb at the back of the neck of your guitar. If you don't have flower, I would definitely advice picking it up. I think Toybox is an amazing song and Flower is practically the only non-bootleg release you can find it on. As for the picture discs, I would have to say from an aesthetic point of view that you should get them as well. I bought the Fell On Black Days pic disc because I think it is an awesome photograph. (As well as an amazing piece of music) I am a fan of vinyl and that would certainly bias my opinion on purchasing that. I don't know how much collector's worth the vinyl of Ultramega would have, but it would certainly be a nice addition to your collection. Hope this helps your selection. Look at thr unbelievable divewrsity of DOTU alone and you have to agree. I mean, whilke my personal favorite SG song, Let Me Drown, and Zero Chance are both great songs, it's apples and oranges to compare them. You run into this problem with any two SG songs...they are each cool in their own way. Hey...I have a question that is sort of buggin me....ASDrum or Mindwreck, did you guys mention to me last night in the RL Auditorium, that Susan is in the recent issue of Spin (gray & yellow Soundgarden cover) someone mentioned something about a pic of her and Chris sitting around with Susans uncle on his farm??? lol... Techinically Apple has released several albums after Let It Be... which include the ever cheesy remastered 2 disc sets of their greatest hits (the red & blue doubles), their remastered 20 Greatest Hits single record & the 2 Anthologies (with a 3rd hitting stores late summer supposedly). I'll be the first to admit that none of these can be considered albums... but Apple calls them albums & they ARE the people in charge so.. well, y'all get the picture. On a Soundgarden note: My import company called me to discuss a new Soundgarden 'box set.' I got very little info other than it's a box-set, has interviews, 'all their stuff', is released on a limted basis & will cost me 41.99. I need a better assistant, or maybe I should never take lunch.
