Its like a debate on a local radio satation in K.C.MO. someone called in
and said that oasis concert was better than AC/DC. but like I said I
never seen SG yet but planning on seeing them when they come here, and I
never seen Fear Factory and I am not planning to either.TAY

One more thing peoples... does anyone have any recent Lolla dates? I

radio stations here keep insisting that there's going to be a Dallas date. I
tried to get onto the Lolla web page, but it said I needed all this crap to

I too own a copy of SOMMS... I had bought the regular version of
BM and a month later I ran across it at one of my music haunts... got it
for $16... Did not know it was such a pain to find. BTW I gave my old
copy of BM to my brother... who then traded it with some other albums for
store credit at a used place... bastard. His comment on SG... "It is just
Heavy Metal played better". My response was. "So? What's your point!" Rot
in hell Jason... you may be my brother but you just don't understand... .
Anyone else have family that just puts down your musical choices? Are you

The official Lolla page does not yet have the dates. There is a
low-bandwidth version of the page (for which you don't need Netscape
2.x and the various plugins), which is linked from the index page.

Also, keep checking the unofficial Lolla page, which is at
http://nimitz.mcs.kent.edu/~cstone/lol96.html -- and I'm sure Carl
will keep us updated if there is any news.

Hi guyz||| I don't know if it's a mailing list or what, but for sure here I've
sent you my email address. I'm a big big big big^10^240 Soundgarden fan, and I
would like to join to an sg mailing list, if there is. I'm from Hungary, and th
at could be my only info source for my questions that:
  1. When the new Soundgarden album comes out (I've read about the post-studio
workings, and the new songtitles in the Rolling Stone, but there they only said
that it would come out in spring)
  2. I collect everything about them especcialy maxi, limited, bootleg CD-s LP-
s||||| and guitar transcriptions, videos besides the photos, magz.
    (I'm a guitarrist, singer and I have 2 bands (after@all, blunted) w/ BLUNTE
D we play SG like music (mixed w/ pantera crunchy riffs, base but with SG harmo
nies, chord progression, and the most important: Chris Cornell-like voicing, vo
cals) In concerts we play a lot Sg songs (outshined, fell on black days, spoonm
an, Jesus Christ Pose, mind riot) with some Tool (opiate, sweat) and some Pante
ra (becoming, this love, cemetery gates, strength b. str.) I know it sounds we
irdy at all, and now you can say that I couldn't be a real fan of SG but my opi
nion is that there is only good and bad music, and I can say (I'm a musician no
w for 6 years, and I made some success here

  3. Where do the CD-rom Alive in the Superunknown availible?????
I've read about it in the Guitar for the pract. mus., but in Hungary it ai
n't availible (at least till now)
  4. Concerts??? Lollapaloozza????

Thanks for advance for the answers. Please email me or may I get the list????

We must be getting close: today, the music store in the MIT Student
Center put a "Down on the Upside" poster in the window. A rather nice
yellowish color, with fuzzy silhouettes of the four band members
spaced unevenly across it. It had "SOUNDGARDEN" AND "DOWN ON THE
UPSIDE" written on it in the usual Soundgardenesque capital letters.
It also listed the May 14 and 21 dates, the earlier being for "limited
edition vinyl" and the later being for the CD and cassette.

In my excitement I realized that I had forgotten to update the
countdown page to reflect the vinyl release date -- it's now accurate,
and that puts us less than a month away...

(I also added the songwriter/lyricist for each track, which I just
found out a few minutes ago; I have no confirmation yet that this is
correct, but it matches the bits and pieces of info I've heard from
other sources, so I'll leave it there until it's proven false)

my brother listens to rap/country/MTV-alterna-rock... he's a conused boy.
But, that's what society has taught him--"listen to this, you'll be
popular and have lots of freinds." My mom listens to beach music and
oldies.. my dad listens to the adult contemporary station (ugh)... My
point is i guess.. follow the arrow-->

I have 3 nice sized Soundgarden posters in my bedroom at the casa. My
family doesn't understand my love of Soundgarden. Don't ask why. i was
playing the acoustic version of "Like Suicide" one day and asked my dad..
"do you think this is good?".. he replied. "this is good.".. I said "it's
the lead singer from Soudgarden.".. he replied.."oh.. well..", like a
dumbass.

I was playing "i stay away" by AiC one day and he asked.. "what are they
doing, dieing?".. sometimes, murder is an option.

I brought home a Helmet t-shirt and a Marilyn Manson t-shirt last summer
and he thought i was a nazi.. go figure...

aahh...it's nice to vent

Hey all,

I've seen a lot of posts lately from people who are looking for a copy of
SOMMS. I get Goldmine and a lot of record catalogs through my work,
and I do see SOMMS for sale occasionally. While it's usually not cheap
($45-$50), IMHO it's well worth it. My suggestion is that you look through
Goldmine the day it comes out, and make sure you order it immediately so
that somebody doesn't beat you to it. Good luck!

As most of you people are American, you may have no idea, but do any
of you know whether the BMF/SOMMS was/is available in Europe? I'd
fucking kill to get this as I haven't heard 'She's a Politician' or
'Stray cat Blues' and the singles are hard to get now. I did manage
to get the 'Loud Love' etched 12" with 'Fresh Deadly Roses', which is
a killer song, a couple of months back, which is fucking cool so I'm
not far off getting everything.

One CD I'm having a shitload of hassle finding is 'Louder Than Live' I
KNOW this CD/Vid exists as I saw it advertised years ago but I can't
find evidence of it anywhere. Where the fuck can I get a copy?

Anyway...

I'm new to this group and I'd just like to say it seems pretty fucking
cool and laid-back...

Thanks to the people of this newsgroup, who inadvertantly directed me
to the origin of a few SG tracks I have kicking around on a bootleg
and had no idea where they were from - 'Stolen Prayer', 'Heartfist',
'Angel on Fire', 'Black Cat', 'Everybodys Got Something To Hide' and
'Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself'. I couldn't believe that some of
these were tracks which Chris Cornell gave away! 'Heart Fist' has to
be one of the all time great SG songs I've heard! I also found a
shitty SG cassette bottleg that had versions of 'HIV Baby' and 'SubPop
Rock City' on it - what is the best CD boot these can be found on?

Cheers

Hey All-
My mom and my sister don't understand why music means so much to me.
Moving out at 18 was a great help, because, honestly, I could play
music as loud as I wanted(not ear splitting, unless I had a shitty day
at work :) )
But I made my sister listen to Temple of the Dog, 'Fell on Black
Days' 'Like Suicide', since she was a former Styx and Rush fan, I thought
she would dig the musical value. Guess I was wrong.
She's aged since she left college, in 5 years, she went from Def Lep to
Bolton, Kenny G, Garth, Reba, safe stuff for people in their late 20s, early
30s.
Anyway, she was totally unfazed. I remember listening to SuPeRunknown
a year after it came out, while I was driving down a long stretch of highway.
The sun was setting, and somehow, it just hit me full force. It took me a year
for the album to grow on me, but it hit me full force. I was niave enough
to think that my sister would have felt the same experience, but I thought
that it would get some reaction. All I got was "That's nice". A casual comment.

On the other hand, its what makes me different from my family. And admit fellow digesters, nothing rocks like an album that your parents, peers or siblings
retract in horror or can't understand the coolness of :)

KRock might carry it. The other day when i was driving home from school,

it would arrive in the studio soon. I was so pissed I almost, well, i

These can be found on regular CD releases. "Sub Pop Rock City" is on
_SUB-POP-200_, which was just reissued by Sub Pop, and "HIV Baby" is
on the _Born to Choose_ compilation (Ryko, 1993).

SA>SG? <Sigh>.

Yep. I'm an only (lonely ;( ) child, and my parents think it's noise.
They also hate Rage Against the Machine, but I can understand why on
that one. It is kinda loud, and when he screams, he REALLY screams (no
Chris Cornell wail here). I think my mom likes the acoustic Like
Suicide, but everytime it comes on, she bitches about the Suicide part.
She has this think with negative lyrics. I tried to explain it to
her, how it's not about suicide (at least I faked something), but she
just said, "Yeah, well, they still leave you with suicide when the
songs over." She's just weird sometimes. Most of my friends don't like
Soundgarden too. One of my friends (one of those "I'll buy what's
popular now" people) bought Superunknown and loved it...until he went
away to college, then he came back with that whiny college music shit.
Oh well, my other friend (who's usually with me when I'm with the
college music one) loves Soundgarden almost as much as I do (but Chris
Cornell isn't his hero...his hero is Criss Oliva who was killed in a
car crash; from Savatage...he does have a fork, though) and me and him
throw out all his whiny shitty music, and pop in Soundgarden
(Badmotorfinger...it's louder :). Not like you care or anything, but I
felt like typing.

From: jsimpson@mail03.mitre.org (Jamesetta Simpson)

I'm going to loose my sweet little mind. The radio station I listen to here at
work, just announced the song now playing was the new SG single (Pretty Noose)
soon to be released.

They "TALKED" through the whole thing....... They "TALKED" about Hoote and
the stupid fish's new CD..... I could not believe it..

They "TALKED" through it... :-(.....

But they did say they had several of the cuts from the new CD. I'll try to
catch them on tape. This station played 7 cuts off the new STP CD at lease
three or four weeks before the CD came out. With any luck they will do the
same with SG - one can only hope....

(Greg and any others is the DC area, the station is DC101)

PS: For you AIC fans - there is a Saturday night special coming on the "FOX"

guest on it. Anyone else see or hear about this???

That fucking clown never fails to get on my nerves. Anyway... in LTL, I

YES!! YES YES YES!! I swear... my family LIVES to insult my music.
They call Chris "that Cornball guy", and my padre refers to Phil Anselmo
from Pantera as "Panhead". I forced my mom to watch some SG videos with me
one day, and I asked her if she thought Chris was a babe. She watched the
screen a little longer, and said "Well darling... he'd be alright if he'd
just keep his mouth shut for awhile." AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! So then I turned off
the SG and made her watch the Pantera home videos. Heheheh... she didn't
like that. My brother listens to rap and country. And not even GOOD rap.
He likes weird stuff. New stuff, I guess. I used to be a huge NWA fan, but
he doesn't like them. Oh well... maybe I was adopted...
Speaking of cool music... guess what??!!?? I just found out the
grooviest thing!! I'M going to get to see JELLO BIAFRA on Saturday night!!
He's coming into town to support some political campaign... and my friend
Ezra's band is going to play... so I'm going to get to MEET JELLO!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA!!! I'm SO excited!! Are there any other Dead Kennedy's fans on
the list? Oh wow... this is going to be SO cool!! Ezra said Jello is going
to speak for awhile, and then he's going to do a few DK songs!!! Bliss!!
Ummm... to make this Soundgarden related, I remember reading somewhere that
Ben got to meet Jello one time, 'cuz Jello liked Ben's band's name "March of
Crimes". And now I'M going to get to meet him!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Another thing... I've been e-mailing MTV like crazy trying to get them
to make some video clips of SG or CC available for download. They've got one
of Eddie Vedder talking at the stupid Grammy's or whatever. And they've got
AIC video clips. Hopefully they'll put "Pretty Noose" on there. Yah, I
know... it's not a big deal... we could just tape the video on a vcr. But
there's just something really groovy about having it on the computer. And
all I've got is my notebook computer... so if I had the video on it, I could
take it everywhere. Hey Seth... if they make video clips available, can you
legally turn around and post them to the page?
Oh, by the way... the CC poll is coming along famously!! I was SO right
about there being lots of anonymous perverts out there. Man... some of y'all

Finally, someone out there like me.

NO ONE in my house apreciates my music. NO ONE!!!! I was playing "seasons"

Soundgarden. She says"What? he mellowed down?"

My whole bedroom is filled of posters of bands, every square inch.('cept for
my skater dog, but that's a different story)then my mom walks in the other
day, and says"Ipicked some nice flowers to cover your wall, so you won't have
to keep staring at those people, those drugged-up high school dropouts." I
spazed out right in front of her. My dad agreed, but I got my way.

the only thing my dad likes about Chris is that he very very very very very
very slightly looks like him, I mean VERY SLIGHTLY. That's what he says.

Why can't they just accept my musical lifestyle, rather than wondering why I
don't do "girlish" things.

I'd be worried about that - surely tickets would've gone on sale by now? I
mean, assuming they'd be at Festival Hall (they'd be too big for the Roxy
here in Brisbane), they're well behind as far as ticket sales go when you
consider that Presidents of the United States of America tickets are going
on sale today for an August 10 show...

If Soundgarden are big enough for the Entertainment Centre, I'd be able to

But at any rate, I'm crossing my fingers the information is true...

Ummm... I'm going to respond to this on the list, 'cuz I don't want to
have to answer this same question multiple times. I love you guys, but I
hate writing the same thing over and over and over... BTW... it would be
really cool if you AOLers (and you people who want to get your grubby little
paws on a SG clip) would start e-mailing MTV and demanding they make one (or
more) video clips available. <hinthint>
It's on the MTV AOL site. It says it'll take like 35 minutes or so to
download at 14.4 bps... and it also said that if you're an Eddie Vedder fan,
you'll love it. I personally wouldn't let my dog piss on Eddie's leg (and
not out of respect for the man... out of respect for my dog)... but if you
like Eddie... more power to you!!! If you don't have AOL, I suggest you sign
up for it temporarily. You get like 15 free hours to try it out. That's
plenty enough time to get all the Eddie/PJ pics and that video clip and
whatever else you want. AOL may suck... but there are thirty million (well,
maybe not that many) different music sites to get audio clips/videos/pix of
rock stars from. Including SG stuff. Another amusing MTV vid clip I
found was that "Raw" commercial thingy that has the old and decrepit Madonna
and the old and bloated Courtney Love. It's great!!
Oh... and you'll need Quicktime for windows (or Mac) to view the clips.
It takes about a half hour to download, too. And it's a BITCH to find on
AOL. But if you need any help finding stuff online, just let me know, and
I'll be happy to help. Good luck!!

GOT IT .... GOT IT .... GOT IT ....

  "PRETTY NOOSE"

It's wonderful - a bit of a step back to BMF, which makes me happy. Has a raw
edge to it.. Nice voice echoes through out the song. I love the end where all
the over play and sound thingy (I'm not a musician, loving one is as close as I
come :-*) ) cuts out and Chris just sings straight out.

There is a wonderful part with just instruments - Kim is so good. I wish I
could explain it to you all like some of the member of this list can - just
take it from a SG lover who has loved music for so very many years - this is
goooood, DAMN gooooood...

Carolyn my friend - it makes you dance, move, jump, you can't stop moving..
Drum's - you feel them, you can just see Matt beating the hell out of skins..
It's the type of music you like from the first note you hear until you the last
scream... And that's how it ends with a beautiful "Yeah" type scream from his
wonderfulness....

Yesssssss... It is so good to hear something new...

Okay I'll be fine - I'll just play the tape a few more hundred times until I'm
in control again.. Never!

Other news - like anyone wants to hear anything but "Pretty Noose". The DJ on
DC101 also said that Soundgarden was headlining the Lolla tour with: Metallica
and now wait for this.......

This also locked me out of all those groovy import single DISCS available...

so did you grill the people behind the counter seth? do they have
any good information for us, or did some record company guy come in with
the poster and say 'put this up here'? I noticed that the songs are now in
a different order (to the original setlist). is this the definite album
order? and do you know the people that work there? because they could tell

(someone should find this out soon).

> (I also added the songwriter/lyricist for each track, which I just

the credits look pretty cool. ben cerainly has done more writing
this time around, although he hasn't done very much in the way of lyrical
contributions. he wrote the music for 6 of the 16 songs, but didn't write
any lyrics at all, which is kind of odd. on the other hand chris
certainly has a lot on his mind, since he has written the lyrics for 15
of the 16 tracks (not to mention musical credit for about half the
album). and even though ben has written more, seven of the songs are
solo efforts by chris, so it doesn't seem like the songwriting dynamic
within the band has changed all that much (although kim's song should by
*great*).

btw, I'm listening to the live at the armoury gig at the moment,
and I was just thinking how it would be cool if night surf (probably in
another form) turned up on the album. it's a really cool piece of music,
and I'd love to hear it recorded in the studio. maybe it could be a bside,
or it could lead the album off, kind of like how pearl jam have
master/slave at the beginning and end of ten. what do you all think?

I agree. I had to wait three months between buying the tickets and
actually seeing the pumpkins here in brisbane. but I can't see any
problems with a quick little whirlwind tour or australia :) I think that
they will play festival hall (maybe twice) around the start of june, but
it will suck if we have to wait until sometime in september to see them.

I have a couple of questions that need answering. any information
would be greatly appreciated, and would be acknowledged on the upcoming
faqsheet.

	1. what were hiro's reasons for leaving?

	2. which band is jason everman playing with now?

	3. I don't think that into the void was the original name of the
black sabbath song. does anyone know the original name?

There's no doubt in my mind, and I have always thought that Matt is by far
one of the best drummers in the world. Just listen to...well...every
Soundgarden song. Have you seen him play JCP? Even on Motorvision. He
goes completely nuts. You can see and hear by the way he plays he must
practice a lot. It's very polished and very confident. SG would be
severely lacking without Matt Cameron. That's my opinion. Geoff

what is this, 20 questions? (or 4 questions?) they have no information
yet, though i have a promise that they will notify me as soon as they
find out anything or get a promo or whatever. as for the setlist, i
haven't changed it in about a month, i don't think. i also did a
thorough search of the mit radio station's collection, but they don't
have anything yet.
