It seems we had this discussion about a month ago when some people complained
about the "Chris as Love God" posts and I believe the final word was that as
long as it pertains to Soundgarden its appropriate for the list and that Seth
would make that determination (you know, free speech, tolerance, and all).

Not everyone has the time, money, or inclination to "browse the web page"
every time they have a question or comment. I have found the people on this
list for the most part to be friendly and informed and I learn alot about
them from their posts, whatever the content. Sometimes people, especially
new list members, ask a question that may just be a conversation opener.
When someone asks you what the weather is like do you tell them to turn on
the weather channel?
Just my humble opinion.

There's been alot of discussion about this disc lately and I've been thinking
about how I felt when it first came out. I was one of the people who bought
Badmotorfinger the minute it was released. When shortly after that I found
out about the SOMMS disc I was a bit pissed, feeling betrayed by the band
because it seemed they were pulling a fast one on those of us who rushed out
to buy the single disc. Of course I could not live without SOMMS so I bought
it and I'm glad I did, but I wish I hadn't had to buy two BMF in order to get
it. As much as I love the disc, I just had to get this off my chest.

Did this happen to anyone else, where you bought BMF then found out about
SOMMS (back when they were first released)?
How did you feel?

Ok, just so I know. If I ever see SOMMS (I'm being optomistic here),
what will it most likely look like? I saw the black cover for it, but
it seems that most people got it with Badmotorfinger. So am I looking
for a Badmotorfinger? Will it look exactly like the regular
Badmotorfinger? I just wanna know what to look for.
And the other day, one of my friends said, "What's that Soundgarden CD
that opens like the CD+?" The first thing I thought was, "HE KNOWS
WHERE TO GET SOMMS!" Then he said, "A friend of mine in Jersey has
it." I hate my life.

Your not the only one that gets pissed by this, it is a common record
company ploy to keep up sales of CD's, release it first, wait a few months
then release it with a 2nd CD of special/live songs. It didn't happen with
BMF with me, but a heap of other bands most recently Spiderbait...a 2nd cd
with 5 LIVE tracks!!! AAAARRRRRAAGGGHHHH ....oh well you have to put up with
it, and alot of the time the true fans that buy the album the day of release
miss out on the special packs unless you fork out twice for the album. I
don't think soundgarden really ment it as money grabbing for the band, like
most other bands that do have 2nd cd's I think it is more of the record
company idea to get more money for company in the long run/keep the album in
the top 40 or whatever. I think bands are happy that they get to put out
tracks that otherwise we would never hear.

Now where is that FAQ anyway?? Isn't somebody working on it? Somms
stands for satanoscillatemymetallicsonatas, which is a palindrome. (says
the same thing forward and backward) After BMF was released, another
2disc set was released which was BMF/SOMMS. The second disc, somms, has
5 songs on it: Into the Void(Sealth), Girl U Want, Stray Cat Blues,
She's a Politician, and Slaves and Bulldozers(Live). There were only
100000 copies of somms printed up, so if you can get your hands on one,
do it. -Geoff
p.s. Into the Void sounds really good really loud

Readers,
I called up a local radio station the other night (I'm at school
in New Hampshire) and asked if he had the new soundgarden yet. The DJ
was one of those guys that sounds like he's excited about anything. He
said, "No, not yet dude, but I've heard it and it really rocks. Hey can
I play something else for you, how about some Bush?" I couldn't help but
laugh when he asked me if I wanted to hear bush. Hearing my reaction he
said, "O.K. dude, anything else I can play for you tonight?" I asked if
he could play some Muddy Waters, he laughed, I asked if he could play
some Lightning Hopkins, he laughed, finally I asked him if he would play
Beyond the Wheel by SG, and he said, "Bond's that Steal, huh? I never
heard of that one, but I'll try and find it for you, later man."
The point of my ranting is to further express my dislike for the majority
of radio on the airwaves. Oh well, later.

BMF CD longbox. I looked at it and immediately needed it. I pawned off

Now, however, I am not as pissed off. I ended up buying BMF 3 times.
Someone "borrowed" my tape, so I bought the CD, then I had to have
SOMMS. It was all worth it, but I wish I still had the original CD so I
didn't have to worry when I listened to it.

I was flipping channels today on the TV and as I flipped past the local PBS
station I heard the soothing sounds of SG. It was the end of a show and I
was wondering what the hell I had just missed that would play Kickstand at
the end of its show. MY question was answered moments later when an
announcers voice said, "If you would like a copy of Bill Nuys the science
Guy send blah, blah, blah, blah and your first born to blah, blah, blah."
Bill Nuys the science guy----soundgarden----WHAT'S THE CONNECTION?
Personally I think it's an alien plot to get Shroom to stop talking about
Chris Cornell and start talking about Bill Nuys, the science guy.

Pretty Noose, Burden in my hand, Blow up the Outside, Rhinosaur, and
Never Named.
Anybody got any faves from these? Thay all sound really good, but Never
Named and Pretty Noose are my faves right now. Is it just me, or do I

Anyway, I've been keeping track of somms-owning somms-list-members and as
of 6pm, April 17, 1996, there are 33 list members that own somms, that I
know about. If anybody else has a copy, email me preferably with the word
SOMMS in the subject. I'll only count genuine copies, and assume they are
on CD unless you tell me. (there are some on vinyl I believe)
A name followed by (+1) indicates that that person also know people who
own it. I know one person myself. A number in brackets without a '+'

Good album. "Bulls on Parade" is gonna sound great during the summer. How
many of the songs could be found on the RATM bootleg _Demo's_ (i think
that's what it's called).

If it's vinyl. It's worth ALOT more than 20 bucks. Check to make sure
everything is included. There are 2 or 3 different packaged CD's floating
around. With the newest one containing a 'young' CC on the CD and in a box
sorta like the Zep box set #2. I believe its a sub pop import. Buy that
one. (if you can find it)
