Sommites,
Did some shopping the other day, deceided I would post some reviews.
Hmm... picked up a copy of motorvision the other day, excuse my french but
fucking awesome is the only words to describe it. It was great, I have my
VCR hooked up to my stereo so I played it as loud as the cops would let
me.(My neighbors called the cops on me for disturbing the peace when I was
playing loud love once) I also found a video for called molt and gather
for 2.99 and guess what was on it?... the video for Jesus Christ Pose. My
friend and I were watching it, and we couldn't see why it was banned. He's
catholic too, went to a catholic high school and everyhting. Anyway I also
picked up the basketball diaries soundtrack. Blind Dogs was a great song,
it seems Mr. Thayil is becoming a better song writer every day. All his
songs are great but hands all over pales in comparison to blind dogs and
little joe. Anyway I am going to buy the new rage album now that the cd
    store is open. C-ya

I got my hands on SOMMS a few weeks ago for $20. When I told my roomate,
who bought BMF/SOMMS new when it came out, he said "$20, I bought it for
$10." He couldn't believe it was worth that much. If I can get him to
part with it, I think owning two copies would be worth it, esp. for $20
a piece.

Alice Cooper changed alot of the lyrics to Stolen Prayer (his changes suck
IMHO), and Unholy War has parts taken out, so I could see how these songs
could have been written without the specific intent of going on Alice's album.

Just as an aside that album really drove home for me the idea that
PERFOMANCE of a song is equally important to the song itself in order for it
to be good. Alice Cooper took two wonderfully penned Chris Cornell songs
and destroyed them by doing such things as adding children singing to the
chorus of Stolen Prayer. If anyone was remotely curious about buying
Cooper's album for these 2 songs, please take my advice and save your cash.
I promise you will be dissapointed!

I never really realized how rare SOMMS was until recently. I got it when I
heard about it around the time it came out (in fact, I sprinted to the
record store the moment I heard this), and just about all my friends (most
of them are not big Soundgarden fans) have it too, so I kind of took for
granted what a treasure I had.

I think that alot of people who are not great fans have SOMMS simply because
it came out around the time that Pearl Jam was getting big, and the media
was saying "Pearl Jam" and "Soundgarden" in the same sentence alot, so the
bandwagon people went out and got Badmotorfinger. It just so happens that
they picked up SOMMS too. It's really a shame, because alot of people who
never listen to the album have SOMMS, while people who are real fans either
can't find it or are forced to spend ridiculous amounts of money for it.

Hello!

I'm quite happy these days. Do you wanna know why?

Last saturday (April 13th) I bought in Barcelona the RATM new album
It's wonderful, how can these guys make a good album after their first
one? It's as good as the other one, believe me!

But that's not all....
On sunday (April 14th) I listen 3 more songs from the soundgarden new
album. I am the one who had listened to Burden in my hand, do you
remember me? But now I've got 4 songs (there are just 12 left :) :

These are the songs:

- -Burden in my hand

- -Pretty Noose

- -Rhinosaur

- -Zero Chance

This is helping me a lot on my waiting for May 21st

If you want me to explain you how they sound ask it to me

deee-li-cious ice cream sundae. And i'm not going to make any silly puns on
Sun=sundae either, although I was very tempted.

You never know, he COULD become famous for them. Oh, hey, that reminded
me, does he still have the goat and moustache? Foreshocks? I still
wonder if he'll grow his hair long again. I guess since he rides a
Harley, he HAS to have burns. (only if you want to stereotype) Of

Do they look the same as in Feb's pic of him on the calender?

I'm listening to "Digging the Garden" a lot and i really love
"Little Joe". The drumming makes the song, IMHO. Yeah I know, I'm
a hoser cause I don't have Sc Life/Fopp. (Like I ever had a chance to
get them individually), but there are other bands out there whose CD's
I want to get. Next up for me is AIC's "Dirt", cause I'm pissed that
"Sap" and "Jar of Flies" are so damn short. HMMPPH. Also the new

costs for postage. So post this info and I'll send you some money. (do

Last summer, one of my best friends died in a car accident. He was a
REALLY special dude. One of the kind of guys that every single person
likes. He was the first person to give me a beer, get me to listen to
Soungarden, and my first friend to die. I was put into kind of
shock where I couldn't eat or anything. One day, though, I brought
out TOTD and really *heard* "Say Hello to Heaven" for the first time.
It brought on a total healing process, and really helped me more than
I can say. Sounds melodramatic, but...

Some people seem to have missed Nothingman's original post that
included prices for the shirts and where to send the money, etc., so
in keeping with my usual method of dealing with everything, I've added
all of the info to the private list Web page.

As you should know by now, the private list page is at

from there.

Hehe.. I didn't even notice em before.. And he does still have the
mustache and goatee. I think they're a part of him =) Well, you know
what I mean. And they're a lil bit longer than they are in the Feb

And I still maintain my personal opinion that I WOULD RATHER TALK ABOUT
CHRIS CORNELL'S SIDEBURNS THAN ALICE IN CHAINS OR THE THREE HOTTEST
WOMEN IN ROCK. Nothing against Alice In Chains.. but this IS the
Soundgarden mailing list.. and Chris Cornell IS in Soundgarden.. so his
sideburns kinda belong to the band =) And as for the three hottest
women in rock.. let's just say that I'm a bit annoyed and jealous, to
tell the truth.. I keep my "chris is hot" discussions off the list =)
But I digress.

Thank God!! I never understood why I like David Coverdale so much.
Whitesnate was a glamrock as it got, and I was alway wondering why I was
so attracted to D.C.'s voice. I remember when I first got into rock (I
grew up on R&B, country, various west indian songs and american
standard...don't ask), and I would here a Led Zepplin or Deep Purple song
and just be blown away. Unfortunately, I was completely taken in by LZ,
RUSH, YES, Jethro Tull, etc. and never to a closer look at Deep Purple.
My GOD, that whole PAGE/COVERDALE thing was bigger than I ever dreamed!!!!!
SHIT, are you sure about Coverdale???? I've got to get my head from up
ass and check this out for myself....

I live in a world with far too much music!!!! I'll never hear it all!!!!

I heard some sort of good news from lyana up here in skinnys
carolyn. she seemed to think that soundgarden would be playing in
brisbane on either may 29 or june 5. both dates sound good to me :)
however, for either date, tickets would have to go on sale sometime soon
(I hope they start selling them before the album or single is released,
so we don't have to contend with a bunch of fair-weather fan teenyboppers
who just want to sing along to black hole sun and see chris without his
shirt on).

I think the band enjoyed starting their last world tour here in
australia, so hopefully that will make them come back again. with the snl
appearance on may 18 and them starting lollapalooza on june 26, it seems
like they could fit us in before they do everyone else. also, last time
they toured here (jan 1994) was right before superunknown came out, so
maybe we'll get lucky again and hear the album live about the same time
we hear it on our stereos :)

that's what I thought when I heard them. I thought, 'cool! more
songs by chris to listen to', but when I heard what alice cooper did to
them (before I heard the stolen prayers boot), I knew that they weren't
really chris' songs anymore, and that they probably didn't resemble what
he had originally done. and now that I have heard the demo versions (jamie
you are a mastermind), I know that they don't. alice cooper (imho)
butchered them, and the best part of either song was when chris came in
on the chorus. so maybe they should have become soundgarden bsides
instead of letting alice cooper have his evil ways with them.
