um, seth? i think this is an oversight -- i don't think we were supposed to
find this stuff! i think it's there because imusic uses streamworks, so
it's probably there in preparation for album launch or something.

i'm sure if you advertise it on the page it'll get A&M there in a hurry
taking it down. talking about it amongst ourselves is one thing, unless of
course there's a mole for A&M on here </me waves>

i've been fighting with it all day. i *will* hear these songs tonight!

TO make things worse...I saw it the other day down at the local CD shop, $40
Australian! So thats like $25 American or something.

If anyone in Brissy want's it it's was at Rocking Horse 2, saw it on Thursday.
I would buy it, except I have a copy. Funny how offten Somms pops up around
this list isn't it :)

Yeah thats what I figured, just wait about 2 weeks till all the foreign

As someone said, foreigners, send a US money order! It's not that hard to
exchange money orders and it will make life alot easier for our wonderfull
friend nothingman :)

BTW if you do get foreign money the banks will exchange it to US funds..tho
you will get funny amounts depending on exchange rates etc.

I think Seth has started the great bandwith use of streamwork servers :) I
get the can't access DB error too, damn annoying. But oh well, one day I'll
get through and be able to hear them, probably after the album comes out,
which would be no use really. Anyone able to get through to the servers

Um, yeah.. Anyway, for anyone who hasn't seen Soundgarden on MTV, and
wants to, but hasn't yet, The Week In Rock will be on MTV at 1:30
Eastern time today. Soundgarden is shown second, right after Tupac and
Snoop Doggy Dogg. And if you're going to tape it, Soundgarden comes on
right after Tupac and Dogg are asked about Dr. Dre. It's really worth
taping.. =) I think so, anyway. That three-second segment of "Never
Named" was enough to drive me clinically insane until May 21st. THE
REALTORS ARE COMING! Oh, sorry. Back to the subject. Chris has

About 4 or 5 years ago, I was in some cheesy chain record store in
Syracuse when I stumbled upon SOMMS for the first and last time. It was
about 2 weeks after I had bought my first Soundgarden album - BMF on
cassette, and I didn't have a CD player yet. I remember looking at it,
saying "neat" (being a dumbass 16 year old), and putting it right back on
the shelf. I think it was about $25. I AM A MORON!!! Who knows if I
will ever be able to forgive myself for this...

moral of story....see SOMMS, BUY SOMMS.

I just noticed em =) Are you sure? Cause I've never seen himn with
sideburns before. I mean he had lil sideburns before but now they go
down to his jawline. Anyway what I've heard of Never Named, it's like
not something you'd expect off of Badmotorfinger.. it kinda reminds me,
what I've heard of the album in general, of a mix between Day I Tried to
Live/My Wave/Head Down/Hater kinda stuff =) GOD, I CAN'T WAIT! I only
heard one line worth of Never Named. I don't know what he said either,
it sounded kinda like "i lay this song to rest" or something weird, and
then it went into a guitar solo. It sounded cool, though =) And they
played another song in the background, and it sounded like Head
Down/Hater kinda stuff, I mean it had that certain sound to it,
Soundgarden didn't write Superunknown II is what I mean to say. I can't
wait. Of course, Soundgarden would NEVER write a Superunknown II, or a
Badmotorfinger II, or a Louder Than Love II.. you get the point. We're
not going to be disappointed =)

BEFORE YOU EVEN *THINK* about posting a question message to the list, check
the page first...odds are you will find the answer there.

The answer to your spam is on the web page...read that.

As Seth said earlier...don't send messages for the sake of sending messages.
Send them because they are relevent or they are unanswered. Odds are, if you
have a question about the band, it will be answered by browsing the web page.

If you have Soundgarden, Hater, Temple Of The Dog, or anything else along
those lines to discuss...this is probably the right place.

Subject: Sound Zeppelin

On the campus I go to, LZ is a very popular band, particularly with the guys
I live with. SG on the other hand is generally viewed as 'just another
grunge band riding the Seattle wave.' Anyone who has taken any time to
actually listen to SG, expecially their older material, would know that SG
is not a band which is or has ever ridden on the coattails of another band.

Musically, I feel that both bands are very accomplished in the songwriting
field and both compare in the fact that all the members really do contribute
to the sound as a whole. Neither band has any dead weight in it(Smashing
Pumpkins anybody?). Stylewise I never saw the connection between LZ and SG
except somewhat in the vocal department. I found that I really do agree
with what Ross said about comparing to absolutly different styles and
musical backgrounds.

On the subject of Bonham vs. Cameron, I do feel that they do have one thing
in common. Stylistic mastery. Bonham was a pounder without a peer and
Cameron is perhaps the best at Syncopation I've heard in a long while. I
cannot think of any other drummer who makes quite as good use of his cymbals
range. The other thing they have in common for me is that I have no end of
trouble trying to learn either of their drum tracks.

in the Used CD shelf for $15.95. I happily snatched it up and took it
up to the cashier. The guy working probably noticed what a good deal I
was getting pointed out that I could get a regular copy for around 9.95
hoping to persuade not buy the little gem.
But I did not heed his advice and got more than a good deal.

Half and Headdown are different, a refreshing break from Pop shmuck and
even a diparture for SG. They are heavy in their own way, without being
heavy sounding. I've always thought "Half" had a very "Indian" (as in
India) feel to it. I've always thought of it as a rock song born from
India's sitars more than the blue's harmonica's. George Harrisons sitar
songs are a curiousity, whereas Half shows a true inspiration (even in
the vocals) of the true music of India. More rock songs should have
these influences . . .	and I never make sense, do I?

oh, of course. heaven forbid you shouldn't make money on something. i'm
not saying you should lose money, and the price you asked was fair, but this
sounds like something i'd expect to find out in usenet and not on a mailing
list which is supposed to be a 'community' of sg fans.

I don't remember that, but remember a few years back, when right after
the Superbowl (for you American fans of Football <cough!>) there was a
new show called Extreme? Well, I watched the end of the Superbowl just
so I wouldn't miss the show. So I watched, and the first scene was a
guy skiing on some kick ass terrain, and Spoonman was playing. It
freakin' ruled! Soundgarden and skiing! Then the guy skied right off
a couple thousand feet cliff and....no, he didn't die, he pulled his
parachute and dove into a lake.

Yeah, in that interview from Request magazine (from 94), he had
sideburns to his jawline. And on the FOBD video. I think, anyway.
Well, it's not a new look for him. Maybe you just bought everything
when he wasn't feeling sideburny. :)

Hey, I'd GLADLY pay $30 for it if I didn't already have a copy. Why
shouldn't he sell it for whatever he wants? Anything less than $50 is
practically a steal. I felt like I was stealing it when I paid $15 for
it. $30 isn't that bad. One could probably sell it for a whole lot
more. He did offer to ship it. Just my thoughts.

That reminds me of the interview with Soundgarden in Seattle on MuchMusic
immediately before the release of Superunknown. They were playing
Spoonman in the background as Chris threw a paper airplane out the window
of the building over the rooftops in Seattle.

**Please note: Of all the virtually useless and insignificant pieces of
Soundgarden knowledge there are, this is definitely one of them.

Just thought I'd get in one all this Weird places shit:

Being from Winnipeg, Canada, hearing a Soundgarden song in public places is
an occurance few and far between... imagine my surprise while sitting in the
decrepit Winnipeg Arena, watching the Jets kick Philly's ass, when "SHOW ME"
comes over the piece of shit sound system.
To coin Adam Sandler's line (while in his Buffoon character on his first
disc, after exclaiming what he experienced while looking at his asshole in
the mirror):
"IT BLEW MY FUCKING MIND!"
Backwater hicks (excluding myself and best bud - the only two true SG fans in
Winnipeg) don't deserve to hear such vintage Soundgarden material. What a
piss off.
Oh well, at least the Jets still beat Philly...

A big fucking soulkiss,
Evan

If you were a true fan, you would have left it for someone else rather
than turning it into a petty money-making scheme. My advice to anyone who
is thinking of buying it off this guy....don't do it. SOMMS is not that
hard to find that you should be bent over a barrel by some bloodsucker.
I've seen five copies in Brisbane, Australia, so if you look round in the
US it must be fairly easy to come by.

ps.
Right on Caryn, I bet this guy comes from a long line of ticket scalpers.

ok, raise your hands if you are dying to hear the new album! thought so...:)
couple of things to address as i come out of lurker mode:
bought the "hater" cd today for the unbelievable low price of $4.99. i
swear, those people at reckless records will never figure me out - they
price all the stuff i want that way it seems. :) does anyone know more
about the album? specifically, is brian wood related to you-know-who? and
WHY is matt holding a guitar in the picture? did anyone else find that odd?
where is matt on vocals on this one? hope it's not him on "putrid!" and
is "lion and lamb" supposed to be related to "whale and wasp?" hmm...one
wonders...
also picked up the 'home alive' cd's today for $12 (see! i told you they
do this all the time!) and i really hope DOTU is similar to "kyle petty."
this is the first time i have heard this one.
also, Shroom, in your post re: chris' home phone number, i noticed that
the reponse from "SGKOTS" was signed "AICFC." uh, are you sure that you
weren't asking for layne or sean's home number? i think the knights of
the soundtable know about AIC, but i don't think that they give credit to
them! wink wink...
and finally, for terri: i will take a picture of seattle when i am there
next month. i am travelling there for the first time as i am planning to
transfer to UW (Kim's alma mater, you know) for fall. you're welcome to
come along! maybe some of us on the list could try to arrange a meeting
for 5/21...anyone know about a listener party for the release? and has
anyone received anything from SGKOTS re: DOTU?
