I already mentioned this a few times, but there is an audio file on
Seth's website in which Chris explains it! In his own words! Definitely
check it out. I wasn't sure exactly what it was about before I heard
this. Although I had seen an intervierw in which Kim had mentioned that
it was speaking out against those who exploit the image of the

i hope you don't kick me off the list for this, but you seem to be
suddenly getting very irritated at the non-SG related posts. are you
just fed up, or what? usually, non-related posts pop up when people are
lacking of a good thread. i don't really care who everyone thinks is the
finest chick in rock today, it's true... but I'd rather hear about that
than speculate on cornell's particular shade of pubic hair. i don't
know, I've just usually seen you so even-tempered. I thought i'd say
something.

p.S. Yes, Nothing man, deify is a word, i can't believe you didn't look
it up before you asked. I LOVE the fact that someone in SG USES the word
deify. It makes my word power tremble! :-)

An irrelevant or stupid thread is not a substitute for silence. There
is no law saying there cannot be zero posts on a given day. If nobody
has anything to say about Soundgarden, fine, then nobody has anything
to say about Soundgarden. Don't post garbage to fill space.

hi, my name's Tim, and i've been on and off the list for awhile. i first got
into soundgarden when i heard "outshined", and superunknown is one of the best
albums of the decade IMO. "head down" is probably my favorite song by sg, but
it just sunk in the other day that it is one of the few songs written by ben.
he writes some killer songs when he gets the chance. "half" and "somewhere"
are some other favorites of mine. i'm looking forward to hearing more input
from him on the new album, along with the usual outstanding input from chris,
matt, and kim. well, now that the intro is outta the way, i guess i'd like to
say that i'm looking for a good to great quality show with alot of the
superunknown tunes on it. mail me if interested and i'll send you my bootlist.

As far as buying band merchandise/bootlegs etc. goes, I've only gone beyond
buying the mainstream albums of a band for one band, and Soundgarden ain't
it...so my most prized possession would be the Loud Love EP on vinyl,
complete with the different version of Big Dumb Sex.

And speaking of Temple of the Dog. I've been listening to it alot

blues-influenced it is. Someone asked where the banjo was on TOT; isn't
the banjo playing along the whole song? I could be wrong...anyone? And
isn't that the banjo in the first riff - the acoustic-sounding
instrument? And Reach Down is AMAZING!!!

My favorite songs off of TOT were always "Call me a Dog" and (now here's

I think my grandpa has a crush on Chris Cornell and Mike Patton. I'm
not positive, though. My whole family is weird... but I think grandpa is
officially senile. Ummm... and his drugs are legal. Don't freak out on me
people... I'm just SHARING! Grandpa used to sit for hours and stare at my
FNM poster where they're all in their underwear... and I could SWEAR he was

Chris (like 5' by 4') and grandpa zones on it, too. Kinda cool, huh? See...

In the same article as the JCP thingy I posted. Request magazine.
Anyway, here's the whole thingy about that...it's rather humerous.

The interviewer asks about them playing Cop Killer at Lolla before, and
he says something about a law that they're trying to pass in Washington
about censorship. Then the interviewer says:
"Is that a problem compounded for you as a musician? You might find
yourself playing in an area that suffers from some sort of cultural
constipation, and all of a sudden they're out to get you for something
that you or I would think is pretty innocuous."
Chris Cornell: "Yeah. There's definately certain states you wouldn'y
want to get caught getting a blow job in."
Interviewer: "And those would be?"
Chris Cornell: "I don't know. I don't worry about that anymore,
thanks."

It's a great interview. Is it on Seth's page? October 94 issue of
Request. It has tons of stuff in it.

It's the same basic song, just remixed and with an extra little guitar
riff in one spot. And they have samples of people talking at the end
over a kick ass drumm solo kinda thing.
Ok, ramblings about the samples. Sometimes they cut out some words and
make it sound like the person is saying exactly the opposite of what
he/she reall is. Like the guy says something about how rock and roll
makes kids kill their parents and stuff like that, and then they take
out the beginning of it, and it sounds like the guy is telling you to
kill your parents. It happens with the other ones, too, but I can't
remember, and I can't find the CD. It reminded me of the time when my
mom heard Hands All Over, and she hated it because he sang, over and
over again, "Kill your mother..." But she took it outta context...he
really says, "put down your arms, your'e gonna kill your mother, kill
your mother." I think they were making fun of the people who do that
by including those samples and edited samples in BDS. Ok, enough.
