Lately I've been listening to SuperUnknown alot and was kind of stopped in my
tracks by Mailman. Not the best song, but it really does something to me,
um, anyway, could have caused a Limo Wreck. Now I'm trying to write
something intelligent, but I can't stop "wallowing in my own obscenities" so
I guess I better try again tomorrow. Bye.

All right...let's start with FDR. FDR isn't really a concert boot...it's
just a bunch of B-sides. So, if you're hearing crowd noise remember that
it's just the song...NOT a live concert. It's a good album, all in all, and
it's nice to be able to hear all of the B-sides.

Next...send mail to saperl@mit.edu and request the digest. He'll fix you up.

If you want a challenging harmonica solo - The Wizard by Black Sabbath. Ozzy
does some serious work on that harmonica. My band wants to play it but I'm
not sure that I can handle it!

Well...even though I flamed the hell out of someone for this before, let's
remember that they originally were thinking of calling the album
Badmotherfucker. (Or Bahdmutherfucer...some wierd spelling) but, naturally,
weren't allowed to...

Maybe this is their little way of getting revenge.

You should add a "guest book" to each of the discog pages. I remember when
the page was first up, you could comment on each of the albums. That was
pretty cool...but then it went away pretty fast.

Why? I assure you that Kurt never wanted people observing a moment of

If anything, tell somebody to Fuck Off for Kurt this week...that's what Kurt
would want more than anything else.

Subject: Fopp (Dub); Garbage

I've always wondered where the dialogue in Fopp (Dub) came from. Well, today I
found out from the unlikeliest of places. I was watching TV, and an ad came on
for a Godzilla toy. In the commercial, Godzilla screamed. I immediately
thought, where have I heard this scream, then I knew, I heard it in Fopp
(Dub). That's really cool. Now I know for sure. Ok, I'll be quiet now; I know
some of you already knew this. :-)

In totally non-SG topic, I was watching MTV, and I realized the lead singer of
Garbage is a babe. Oh yeah, the song "Only Happy When It Rains" is pretty
good, too. ;-)

I think Big Joe here has hit upon the point. Music isn't "ours"
anymore than it is "theirs" (meaning poseurs, wannabes, etc.). Of course
they're unimaginative morons. Of course they're hypocrites. And of course,
the only people who like them are their own kind.
We have a right to be pissed, and we are. BUT, in our hateful
enthusiasm, some of us have gone too far, ie. claiming music for "us".
That's not the way to go about it, folks. Music is music is music. Which
means it belongs to everyone, no matter what kind of idiots they are.
I for one certainly don't send my messages to "claim" music. I
don't think in terms of "my music", "your music". I'm simply bringing
attention upon fakes (they should just be beaten, no matter what music they
listen to). I don't think of myself as a "hard core grunger" anymore than I
believe in "alternative music". It doesn't exist, except as a marketing scheme.
Wannabes piss me off as much as the next guy, but don't let your
anger cloud your judgement. Meaning, don't get presumptuous and start
claiming how "cool" and "alternative-grungey" you really are. If you really
are cool, there's no need to broadcast it. Otherwise, we're morons just
like them. The real fans know who they are. Stay true to yourself and the
music. Let the poseurs worry about the latest trends.

                        See ya, Dun

PS: Hootie & the Blowjob has already tied with Led Zep 4 as the highest
selling album on Atlantic Records. I fear for the free world. Somebody
stop the madness!!

They are certainly aware of the sexual image it produces though, even if
it wasn't the original spark of the title. One of the promo items for
the album was some kind of hand with a finger that waggled around.
Well, I read that in the NME, it must be true! Or something.

*above* the fret-(n)(preposition)-put your fingers on the string,
directly even with the fret. Instead of fretiing the note by pushing
down on the string, just rest your fingers lightly on top of the string.
You should hear a bell- like tone. Later

Hello? Wake up people. I've already announced that Shirley Manson
from Garbage is a babe. I said that weeks and weeks ago. Shows how much
attention you people pay to ME. Sorry bastards. Heheheh... her and Kat from
Babes In Toyland. They're both HOT. I love that video for "Rain". She's
looking good in that blue dress. And in concert... mmmm... VERY nice. And
you're right... the music is good, too. I'll bet I could make her happier
than you Brandon <thpppppt>. Am I going to get flamed for talking about fine
chics, too? Ok... gotta make this SG related. Ummm...
Ok... concerning the issue of music belonging to a person, I'll quote
God himself (CC):

"It's like the only thing that's really yours. Relationships are
never yours. Property is never yours. Your body isn't even yours.
Music is something that actually is. It's forever in a way."

Foreshocks typed up the article that statement is in, and it's on the
page. It's pretty amusing. Details magazine, April 1994... check it out if
you get a chance.
I was listening to the radio last night, and I got the same
tease-treatment as alot of my fellow listers. The DJ announced something
about the new album, and then wouldn't play anything from it... that sorry
bastard. I should have known the man was an idiot when he said the title of
the album was "Down The Upside". On the flip side, thanks for a groovy
review of "Pretty Noose", Foreshocks!! I can't wait too hear it!! You did a
great job telling us about it. Much better than I ever could have.
One more thing... if any of y'all get the chance to see Bad Religion on
this tour... DO IT!! I saw 'em last night, and it was the BEST BR show I've
ever seen. They're improving with age (who woulda thought they could have
gotten any better?).
 Peace, Love, and Waterbeds...

if you don't like 'gratuitous' discussion of the physical appearances of
the members of SG, delete now.

I went to see Wesley Willis last Saturday night here in Seattle and we get
there and walk in the show room and I fall over laughing because... the
first person i see is none other than Mr. Peter Cornell, out for an
evening with the wife. We went and stood behind this pillar and my friend
kept looking at me because i kept sneaking looks at PC from behind the
pillar and giggling. (well, i was in a silly mood. i'm not normally the
kind of grrl who giggles. ;-> ).

anyway -- he's pretty good looking, no doubt about it, and he *does* look
like CC's brother, but even my bf thinks cc is the better looking of the
two ;) and i doubt he is that tall, i was standing next to him at the
tshirt table for a few minutes and he's not that much taller than me, and
i'm 5'7". i guess he could be about 6'2", but not much more than that.

more gratuitous info for a saturday night...
