Great idea, Greg. And my 4x Toshiba CD-ROM drive doesn't work
either. :^( Plextor 4x SCSI and LG electronics 4x EIDE work just fine.

That teases me so bad that now I'm considering buying a brand new

Subject: Footsteps vs. Times...

I'll agree that Footsteps has more emotion, but Times of Trouble appeals to
me more musically. I guess that arrangement is one that doesn't really
benefit from being played acoustic. I especially like the use of piano in
Times, especially the melancholy crescendo before the chorus.
It makes sense that Footsteps has more emotion - It's about Eddie Vedder's
life (or what his life could have been). But sometimes I think that if
Eddie Vedder took a shit and put it on display, people would call it
emotional.
Okay, I don't really mean that, but I don't want to take it out because I
find it funny.
So, I've arrived at a personal musical epiphany: Emotion does not
necessarily mean a song is musically appealling.

Hello everybody!
This is the first time that I am writing an e-mail,funny!
I hope I'll get reactions on my letter.I'm sure that there is somebody on
the world who wants to talk with me about Chris Cornell.Since a year i'm a
real Soundgardenfan and also from Chris Cornell. He is super!I have fifteen cd's
from Soundgarden or with Soundgardenmembers on it, like for example, the
single "Sap" from Alice in Chains, with a song where Chris C. also sings on .
Is there anybody who have also the soundtrack from the film "Singles"?
I only like the songs from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden (surprise!) Smashing Pumpkins
and Alice in Cains.I never listen to the rest from the songs.I specially hate
the songs from Paul Westerberg,Jesus, what kind of singer is that? It's
horrible! If you are still reading my message, congratulations, that is very
special for such a boring story!I want to the Lollapalooza festival because
Soundgarden are gonna play there.fortunatley I live in Amsterdam,so it is
a little bit expensive.I have never been to a Soundgarden concert. They
have the reputation that they are not so good live, but I don't care, I want
to their concert! Oke,I'll quit my "exiting" letter.

My point was that there was a spell where Eddie Vedder was on the cover of
every major music/entertainment magazine complaining about being famous.
Then he is on the grammys making comments that are destined to generate
media attention. If he doesn't want media attention, don't agree to do
interviews, don't randomly show up on david lettermen, don't make stupid
comments on award shows. To put it very simply keep to yourself and shut
up. Theres another band that doesn't enjoy a media spotlight and keeps
quiet, can't quite remember there name though. I heard they have a
    mailing list though.....

Good vids: Mad Season's video, RHCP's funky monks, and of course
Nirvana's live tonight sold out, i completely dig that part where they

is there going to be any half-naked bodies running around? Ummm... forget I
said that. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Heheheh...
Y'know... on the advice of many of my fellow SG freaks here on the list,
I've checked out Inflatable Soule. Ok... I haven't actually checked out
their music yet. So shoot me. But I had been desperately searching for a
picture of the group, 'cuz I heard from SOMEONE who knows... not naming any
names (deb)... that Peter is the really hot Cornell. And today, I am happy
to announce that I have found a teeny-tiny picture of IS. And even BETTER...
there's a picture of Chris (sans shirt) on the SAME page!! Now, I know this
isn't of interest to most of the list, but I feel that I owe it to my fellow
CC sexy body worshippers out there to post this info. Of course... most of
them probably already knew about it, and were in cahoots to keep me from it.
I swear it's a conspiracy... ANYWAY, enough paranoia. On this picture of
IS, Peter does indeed look like Chris, but with a bad hair-do. That's just a
Shroom opinion people. I don't wanna get flamed for flaming Peter's hair. I
think I drank too much coffee at lunch, I have this amazing caffeine buzz.
But if any of you people are as Inflatable Soule and Cornell sibling
ignorant as I... check out this link... 'cuz you won't be disappointed.

the harmonics on Limo Wreck are natural harmonics which are produced by
lightly placing your finger on the string, *above* the fret. the easiest
place to execute harmonics are at the 5, 7, and 12th frets, although
there are many other places as well. One cool thing to do with harmonics
is to bend them by depressing on the string behind the nut after the
harmonic is sounded. enjoy!

i figure badmotorfinger is a polite way of saying badmotherfucker.
superunknown, well, that answer is so unknown, that it's superunknown...

Shroom, that "I made ya get down" etc., what song is that from?

just a follow-up on the rhythmic creativity thing. there are a slew of sg
songs in 4/4. but even those--creative shit, still. take seasons, for
instance. the tune is in four. it's easy to hear at the beginning, no?
well, cc turns it around and makes the main riff an ultra cool grouping of
4/4. he groups the 16ths as 3-3-3-3-4, to be exact, and 4/4 now has the
feel of a triplet 5/4 with an extra beat. and i think the same stuff
happens at the end of half (after that avante-garde 11/16 stuff). another
point of cc's rhythmic versatility is that pushing forward back, outshined,
and birth ritual are all in seven, but are also all completely different
feels from eachother. along those lines, my wave and limo wreck are both
in five, but you wouldn't know unless yoiu sat there like a geek (i.e. me)
and counted. the point is, chris cornell chould get the nobel prize for
rhythm.

just a side note, in romm a thousand years wide, there's a high squeaky
sound that can be heard around 3:00, and it sounds really funky.

That would be a saxophone. I think it's really cool that Soundgarden
incorporates these kind of instruments in their songs. There is also a
sax in Drawing Flies. I like how it accents during the verses. Now if
they'd just use a trumpet....I could play it!
Oh yeah...on the credits in Temple of the Dog, it says that there is a
banjo used. Where is it?

You mean to start up Netscape? When I start Netscape, I type "/ppp".
And when I see what I'm doing, it says,
"PPP/SLIP/somethingidontremember" Does this count? I guess it should,
since it says slip, but things are stupid that way.

I remember Seth had something on his page about a Soundgarden fanzine. I
can't seem to find the info though. Does anyone have it? (how much it is,
where to send the money) I'm not sure, but there may be more than one. The
one I'm talking about had an unpronouncable name that began with and "S".
Does *anyone* know what I'm talking about?

Check out the song "Missing" from the boot "Stolen Prayers". It's one
of the refrains. "I made ya get down, I made ya get down on your hands and
knees." When I first heard it, I knew it was gonna be one of my faves.
Honestly though... I'm only assuming that Chris penned the lyrics to the
song, so I credited him with it. If anyone knows differently... don't tell
me, 'kay? Let me live in the dark. Ignorance is bliss, y'know. Unless
we're talking about, say CC's home phone number. If someone is dying to
enlighten me with that piece of info, I think I could find it in my
all-encompassing heart enough to accept it without a peep. Just kidding.
Ummm... no, I'm not. Ok... shut up Shroom. <kisskiss>
