I didn't put any names on the voting list. In fact, I haven't even
seen the voting list, yet. I have lots of names and orders, and I will
be posting the names of everyone who put an order in very soon. Look
for yourself on that list (when I send it) and let me know if you don't
see it then. This goes for EVERYONE. Thanks.

Simple question, I was wondering what anyone has heard the band Truly and
what they thought of it. While on the subject of questions; who is this
K.Macdonald character who received cowriting credits on the song "I
Awake" and what else has he done and what else is he connected and what
was does he hafta do with Soundgarden. While on questions that keep me
up at night; what was the deal with the old bassit Jason Everson and why
does keep getting in and getting kicked out of great bands like
Soundgarden and Nirvanna?

By the way, thanks again for the tabs for Fell On Black Days and
Superunknown. The Black Days didn't take too long until I had it down, but
I think there's a mistake in the Superunknown tab. I don't know, I play it
differently, and to me it sounds more like the right notes than what that
other person had. I'll have to look into Spoonman--that would be a cool
song to play (and MY amp works! :^p). And I found a place on the net to get
all sorts of tabs. I've only been playing the guitar for about 9 months now
myself, all self-taught and what random people are willing to show me.

Okay, I just got the new Stone Temple Pilots album (midnight sale). Does
anyone (on the Soundgarden list, I know--) know song Andy Warhol which was
on the Vasoline single? There's a song on the new album where Weiland says
Andy Warhol in it (Track #8, Art School Girl). Are these the same song?
Just thought someone on the list might know. Lots of different musical
interest on the ol' list here. Heck, I'm not afraid to admit that I still
love Def Leppard.

I know EXACTLY what you're saying here about Nightswimming! It's happened
to me and a lot of my friends many a time. It's got a lot of personal
meaning for a lot of us though.

I don't agree about Pearl Jam. They've changed, granted, but I don't think
it's for the worse. Their new stuff is rawer, less polished (and slightly
easier to play and figure out on the guitar), but the feeling is still
behind the music, and it's nice if you can appreciate the beauty in
simplicity sometimes (Not For You rocks intensely). But you're entitled to
your opinion, I guess. I just had to stick up for PJ (I'm a PJ nut). I
definitely agree with you about SG's development. Their newer music is more
mature than what I've heard of the old stuff and for some reason it appeals
to me more. But I guess I still need to listen to that old stuff some more.
Funny how music grows on you with each listen.

I think part of the problem may be drugs.
If I remember correctly, Mike McCready was in rehab during the recording
of Vitalogy. As for Alice in Chains, Layne is still showing off the
needle marks in his arms, isn't he? And just wait for the new STP
(released today). I thought Core was excellent. Purple was O.K., but
nothing to drool over. From what I've heard so far, I expect the new
album will make a fine paperweight. Maybe it has something to do with Scott
Weiland's reported heroin addiction?

It takes a lot of teamwork, dedication, and creativity to put a good
album together. If one of the band members is into drugs, and especially
if that causes some friction with the other members of the band, it's
easy to see how it could sabotage a winning formula.

Interesting that you first mentioned Truly, Hiro's band. K Macdonald was
Hiro's girlfriend. I believe the story goes like this. Chris went to
pick up Hiro at his place and saw the note that his girlfriend had left
him. The words on that note became the lyrics for I Awake. Now go
listen to the song and it'll give you chills. (or more chills if you
already got chills from it) I think the reason Everman (everman is out
secret word so when I say everman, everybody scream!) got kicked out of
SG and Nirvana was because he was a big loser. peace

I've heard of Truly but haven't heard any of the music myself. A
friend in SF has seen them a couple times and says they're really quite
good! As for Jason....well, I think the guy has/had a few problems, ya
know, like drugs and stuff. I've seen it hinted that he was just a
slacker in Sg, but take that for what it's worth. Anyone else have any
clues? Maybe he's just not so good...

Take this for what it's worth....while in Seattle this weekend, we were

one version: The Upside of Down this was Gilbert quoting Kim

2nd version: The Downside of Up from the Seattle Times

This one's going to be easy to get confused! I know I saw some other

Well there's not much in my cd player lately, so here is what would be in
my cd player because they are my favorite albums ever.

1. P.J. Harvey - Rid of Me
2. Black Crowes- Shake your MoneyMAker
"Seeing things" RULES!!! I love everything on this CD. I
           love Chris Robinson!
3. Lenny Kravitz- Let Love Rule
4. Jeff Buckley- Grace
My man!! COMPLETELY different than CC's voice but every
               bit as good, I swear.
5. Guns n Roses- Appetite for Destruction
I know, they suck shit now (IMHO), but this album is timeless
Every time I listen to it it gets better and better.
"I see you standing there... you think you're sooo cool.. WHy
        don't you just... FUCK OFF"

6. Brad- Shame

7. Led Zeppelin- I get the different album numbers mixed up, so I'll
just say every zeppelin album ever. I love "WHat is and What Should Never Be"
"Trampled Underfoot" "Your time is Gonna Come", the Crunge, and Babe I'm
gonna Leave you.
8. Pearl Jam - Ten Regardless of what they're doing now, this cd rules!

i love questions like this, even though no one probably reads anyone

on heavy rotation in my walkman/stereo/cdplayer is:

Pixies--- Surfer Rosa
Rage Against the Machine (new album is out april 16th! long ass wait!)
Beastie Boys--- Paul's Boutique (old timer's favorite)
Ani DiFranco--- buildings and bridges

To All>>>

Thank you all that have responded to my little thread. There have
been so many people posting their selections to the digest and even to my
private E-Mail that I can not send specific replies to everyone.

In response to Kathie's Post about being kind... Don't sweat it,
except for the Greatful Dead I have listened or put into heavy rotation
all of those albums. I think it's great that many different tastes in
music can find a common ground in Soundgarden. My attitude is if I like
it, I will listen to it.

Ok, I'll make one execption... Country Radio! Garth and his ilk
make me sick to my stomach! There, I feel better now. [NOTE: I do like
Patsy Kline and old Johnny Cash].

I posted what was playing heavy on my CD player for this month.
If I had posted up over the last couple of months here is a selection
that has graced my Music Machine...

	Bach - Cantatas

I have 2 of 3 known CDs by a Baroque Orchestra (don't have
the CDs present, I loaned them to mom, sorry.)... the kind
where they use period instraments and actually reasearch the
playing style of the time. This is a series of Solo Soprano
with Chamber Orchestra that are achingly beautiful.

Monster Magnet - Dopes To Infinity

What can I say... brings back some Blue Oyster Cult/Black
Sabbeth memories... I grew up in the Seveties and survived.
They thankfully are not a 70's band, Good Shit!

Dead Can Dance - Into The Labyrinth

Another, "played this ablum till I can't listen to anymore"
selection. Thank Gawd they are working on a new album...

	3 Mustaphas 3 - Heart Of Uncle

How do you describe them? You either like 'em or you don't.
They are part of my World Music jones. They mix cultural music
styles and languages with a sly sense of humor. Bryan says
	   check 'em out.

	Poe - Hello

Nice mix of styles with a killer voice. This is one of a new
breed of muscian who incorperates many different sources and
something strangely wonderful happens... besides the chours
from track 2, Trigger Happy Jack (Drive By a Go-Go)...

"You can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being!!!!"

... is worth the price of admission.

	Santana - Viva Santana!

A two CD set that rocks through the various incarnations of
Carlos Sanatana's beautiful creation. It has a killer set of
liners notes and besides some of the great stuff that Santana
is known for, it has some cool unknown stuff too. Check out
Track 3, Guajira... sends chills down my spine and opens the
	   Soul.

	Veruca Salt - american thighs

This album and Poe's share a tape that I listen to on my way
to work. I think this ablum kicks ass. Besides the vocals on
	   it are killer.

Well thats it for me. Thank you one and all since now I have some
new music to track down. And to whomever said it, my respect for your
musical chops went way up.

It's bootlegged from CD's onto a CD. The sound quality is A+. But
with bootleggers you'll never know about total quality of the product because
they dont care about anything but your/their money... It's all a crapshoot.

OH YAH!! GUESS WHAT PEOPLES??!!?? I've found someone online who claims
to have two (count 'em... TWO) guitars autographed by SG. He says he'll be
willing to part with one. I just found this late last night, so I e-mailed
him, but no response as of yet. I kinda doubt I'll be able to afford a new
guitar right now, but if he hasn't sold it yet, and it IS the genuine thing,
and I'm still broke... is anyone else out there interested in it? I'm hoping
I hear back from the guy today or tomorrow. I'll keep y'all updated on it.
Anyway... I'm going to read some more Plato now... ain't philosophy grand?

the lyrics are right on.

Subject: Hit Parader
From: jsimpson@mail03.mitre.org (Jamesetta Simpson)

There is a short two page story on Soundgarden in the April issue of Hit
Parader - here is the heart of the story....

Will SG change their approach this time around in an attempt to expand their
already significant commercial base? Not likely. In fact, while Cornell was
still somewhat hesitant to reveal much about the band's latest magnum opus, he
did express the feeling that SG has done little on this occasion to change the
attitude and approach that has already won the band universals acclaim.
"What's on the new album is basically the same old, same old," he explained.
"But there's no question that whether are some different things lurking around
in there as well, There's stuff that we haven't tired before, and that's
exciting. We tired a lot of different things on the last album too, and I
think we had mixed results with that. I know that Kim was never that
comfortable with playing some of those songs on stage, I like the idea of doing
things that we're not particularly comfortable with - it's just a quirk in my
personality. This time, the music still sounds like us, but with a twist. I
think it turned out pretty well." "It wasn't so much a question of changing
sounds as much as how long it was going to take to get those sounds." the
vocalist insisted. "There were songs we did last time on our own - that we did
in one day - that had much more energy than some of the things on the album
that took two weeks. It just didn't seem to make any sense. There were times
on the last album when we were taking two or three days just to get a guitar
solo to sound the way the producer thought it should sound. That's exactly
what we wanted to avoid this time. I don't think we've lost anything in terms
of production sound quality and the energy level is higher than it's ever been,
and for a band like ours that's very important."

FREAK?! What are you talking about?! That album rocks, but then again,
ANYTHING from Jimi rocks! Out of all 30+ CDs I have with his stuff I have
yet to hear anything I don't like... But "Hey Baby..." rules... Have you
heard the M.A.C.C cover on the "Stone Free" tribute album? (With our very
own Chris Cornell on vocal and Matt Cameron on drums...) It's cool too...
Another great version of "Hey Baby..." is on the Isle of Wight disc...
And consider yourself lucky someone had a "real" version for you to have!
Out of the Hendrix discs I have, I have four boots... "Rainbow Bridge" is
one of them because they don't put that out anymore and I HAD to get a boot
of it to have it at all! One last Hendrix thing... Any fan should go out
to the bookstore and get "Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend of Jimi
Hendrix." I wasn't too crazy about the comic-book biography thing that the
book is, but the 5 song disc that comes with it is UNBELIEVABLE! It's
Jimi's own home recordings of some of his songs that that tight-assed Alan
Douglas let out...

BTW, I gotta say that Vedder's "Footsteps" is better... Gossard "the Man"
on acoustic and Eddie just baring his soul to you... You just CANNOT beat
it...

Enough for now! See Ya...

Mussolini is spelled this way. I really hope you're joking here. I agree

Another thing. Most of you probably won't read this, but I think it needs
to be said. Mariah Carey is a good singer. NOW LOOK! I *don't* listen to
her music or to any of that soft stuff. If a song of hers comes on the
radio, I guarantee I'd be the first to change the station. But you'd have
to be crazy to say she doesn't have pipes of gold. I mean, her mom is a
famous opera singer, and even Mariah has a vocal range of over four
octaves. If you know anything about music theory, you'll know that a
range that big is about as common as trees on the moon. Perfect pitch, no
breaks, 4 whole octaves.....can Chris say that about himself? Now I just
know I'm going to get torched for this, but I just want to say that I
love SG and would listen to *anything* in the world before I would put on
a Mariah Carey record. I mean, just because she doesn't sing the style of
music you like doesn't make her an untalented singer. If we're going to
pick on vocalists let's chastise *really* untalented ones like the singer
from the Cranberries.

So to recap and be perfectly clear: I love SG and hate Mariah Carey, but
just because I don't subscribe to her style of music doesn't mean she's
untalented.

I know you must have been mistaken when you wrote that, Ross. Delores
O'Riordan (I know I spelled her name wrong, I don't have the CD), untalented?
Mistake!! Mistake!! The woman has talent up the a.... um... she's a very

start pointing the finger at... Cindy Crawford. Did anyone besides me cringe

He's almost 32. I got really disoriented for a minute. I felt like I had
just hit a time warp (although it's probably just the drugs). I realized
that the man is getting O-L-D. And if he's getting old, then that means I'm
