Yep, yep. I love singing to the VF a lot too. Color Me Once is a
great song, but where did it come from? Out of all the Femmes' songs,
that is the most serious song I've heard from them. I mean, it might
not be serious, but it sounds serious. All the others are bouncy and
non-serious sounding (well, most of them). And what's he saying in
Color Me Once? "Jack falls dead, Jack bend over and give to me head"?
Is that it? Maybe I'm just a pervert.

JG>etc...when i stumbled across tori amos' version of "smells like teen
JG>spirit."

I heard this a couple times, but I didn't have a clue what it was until
just now. I just remember hearing Smells... really slow with a woman
singing, and some piano. I thought it was pretty cool.

JG>first of all, how many of you have heard this? i don't know how many
JG>tori fans are on this list, but i myself am a HUGE admirer of her and
JG>her music, and this song just epitomizes her versatility. (pick it up
JG>if you can...i think it can be found on the "crucify" ep...)

I keep hearing about Tori Amos, but I never really heard her songs, so
I didn't know what she sounded like. But the other day, I heard one of
her new songs (I think, I don't listen to the radio much) and it was
pretty freakin' cool. It was kinda bass heavy (which I like) and she
has a great voice.

JG>ANYWAY...my point: wouldn't tori sound fantastic covering sg? i'm
JG>thinking in particular: fell on black days, like suicide, mind riot,
JG>possibly chris's seasons (hmmm...i'm trying to visualize older
JG>tunes in a piano format but i'm having a hard time thinking of
JG>anything that would work...gun? loud love? sheesh, that would be
JG>interesting...heh heh, how 'bout beyond the wheel? :) ) all of these
JG>are more "chord-oriented "tunes that i think would lend themselves nicely
JG>to a little creative progression work by tori. hell, she took "teen spirit"
JG>to a whole new level, and that's a song that wasn't exactly written for
JG>the piano. :)

I think Loud Love would do great with a piano and a female singer. And
Mind Riot too. How about All Your Lies?

Why thank you (blush). Now, we need to decide on a design so I can
figure out the actual cost of making the shirts. And I also will need
to know people's addresses so I know how many shirs will be going
overseas and stuff, so I can figure out the shipping costs. How about
when Carolyn posts that last list of people (I think she said she was
doing this) everybody on it sends me a copy of that message (minus
everyone but your own name, if possible) with your real address below
your email address. And then I'll know what needs to be done. Damn,
if only we did this when I had marketing class. I could've based my

July 25- Bryan, TX, Bryan Speedway
July 27- Oklahoma City, OK, Remington Park
July 29- Fort Collins, CO, Hughes Stadium
Foreshocks and I are going together to the Bryan, TX show. Anyone else
wanna meet up there? I'm going to all those shows, and possibly the one in
Southern Cali. Let me know, 'kay peoples? Ummm... I promise to try not to

money. Louder is definitely worth the money. UltramegaOK is also
awesome. If BMF grew on you, there's no reason why the others won't
either. If you meditate on being a fertile Soundgarden you'll have this

pisses me off when they go do stupid shit like releasing cool, rare songs

want to reward all of their fans not just their damm foreign fans. They

just so I can spend Chris birthday with him, for once. So instead of sitting
by the pool, and wondering how he's celebrating, and what kind of presents
he's getting, and what kind of cake he's eating... I can be there with him
for a few hours. What the hell, right? It's not like I have anything better
to do with my summer. Oh man... I'm going to be sooo broke by the fall
semester. Good thing I've been saving my money for a rainy day. But I'll
have memories to last a lifetime. Is anyone else going to the July 20th
show? I need a buddy. I promise I'll be good. And if I get out of line,
you can just tell me to piss off, and I'll go and obsess by myself.
 Anyone... anyone... <kisskiss>

Yes, I've heard Teen Spirit...i think she did a really fantastic job with it.
I have an import of hers where she does Sara Cynthia Sylvia Stout, by Shel

I've long awaited someone to mention her doing SG covers...that would kick

The movie is Dead Man Walking. A film so fantastic that I went out and
bought the soundtrack the day after I saw it. "The Long Road" is credited
as Eddie Vedder with Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn. A much better song on the
sndtrk, "The Face of Love," has Kahn first, Vedder second.
I barely ever listen to the radio anymore, so I don't know if Long Road
gets much airplay, but I _do_ know that I think it's a good song. Probably
because I haven't been forced to listen to it like once an hour every day.

Okay, so is it decided yet? On who is going to organise the shirts? I
suggest Nothingman. And Toni has kindly offered her services as far as
collecting money goes, - how about Toni & Nothingman write to each other off
the list and organise that amongst themselves?

At 01:00 AM 12/03/96 EDT, Nothingman wrote:

Well, get to it! Any more designs on your web page, Seth? I am probably
like the majority on this list who really don't mind what exactly we end up
with, as long as it has Somms (list?/address?) on it somewhere, "Posting
With Our Good Eye Closed" on it somewhere, and a picture of a twisted fork
on it somewhere. Can we perhaps have 2 or 3 variations of those ideas on
the web page that those interested can vote upon? Ideas on the web page to
mean exactly how the front of the shirt will look, and exactly how the back
of the shirt will look.

Nothingman again:

Okay. Below is the final list I have. Please, everyone on that list, do as
NM suggestes and post him (at address rc@gcc.cc.md.us) with just your email
address (copied from my list below) and your full name and postal address.
Call your message T-SHIRT ORDER so he can easily identify which messages
contain this info he wants. Only those who email NM with that info will be
counted!! NM, maybe you should give a deadline as to when this info must be
sent to you by.

That's it from me, now I'll hand it over to you all.

Well, anyone who wants to make shirt designs and send them to me is
more than welcome to do so. If we decide on one of the designs that's
there already as the basis for the final product, we can move along to
tweaking it and actually laying it out. The general consensus seemed
to be that the twisted fork with the "Posting..." slogan was a good
idea; we need to either 1) decide to go ahead with this or 2) make new
designs.

Soon.

some quick news that I got out of a music publication from here
in australia. the article reads in part:

'the soundtrack for the impending Uma Thurman/Matt Dillon film,
'beautiful girls', will include contributions from Pearl Jam guitarist
mike mcready and members of soundgarden. the disc has been executive
produced by afghan whigs' greg dulli.....'

no more information is given, which is a big bummer, and it means
we'll all just have to wait until somebody finds more out about it. if
anyone is really interested, you could look for an afghan whigs homepage
and see if there is anything concerning the soundtrack (sounds like a job
for the stick-fightin', burger-eatin', page-designin' bitch list

btw, I don't know how many people this will interest, but the new
stone temple pilots album is called Tiny Music...Songs From The Vatican
Gift Shop.

I agree with the ol' sethster that we should start moving along
with printing up the shirts pretty soon. like jamie said, we should try
and have them ready for lolla, or for the tour here for us australians.

almost all of us have nodded our heads over the content:

	1. a twisted fork
	2. 'somms' written on it somewhere
	3. 'posting with my good eye closed' written on it somewhere

it's time for anyone who really doesn't agree (*is* there anyone?)
with these three components to raise their hand. once we know that we want
all that on there, then we can choose the colour and where it will go. let
us be decisive.

(I still vote for having somms@mit.edu on there)
