this is to SAm Naugler about the guitarist that Iommi heard that
influenced him to play again...He was an incredible jazz guiarist named
Django Reinhardt (sp?) and is just unbeleivable...check out 'mopping the
bride' if you can.....ok now for some Soundgarden questions.....
On that live broadcast from Eddie Vedder's house a while ago, after
Soundgarden played 'Kyle Petty' (i think), Chris says "all these songs
are for Cory".. does anybody know who Cory is? and also what was the
fast, punky song they played where the chorus seems to be "no intentions"?
oh yea..and Matt just kicks ass! I've been playing nothing but SG for the
past week on drums...

Hello all, I've received some potential t-shirt artwork, so I slapped
together a Web page so we can all check out the graphics and talk
about what's good, what's bad, whether or not we want to use them,
etc.

There's also a link from the Member Directory page.

If you have something to contribute, please send it along and I'll add
it to the Web page -- unless anyone has a problem with evaluating the
artwork via the Web, in which case please do suggest a different
method.

I would have to agree with rec.'s statement that Liz Phair
would compliment Cornell's voice, especially if Cornell
chose to do one of his more mellow, acoustic songs like
'Seasons'. But if Cornell were to really wail and rock,
I would almost have to say that PJ Harvey would be a better
choice.

How about Bjork? She's got a powerful voice, it would be a weird match but
I think it would sound pretty good. The problem is that chris's voice
would swallow up most female vocalists. Imagine him singing with Tonya
Donnely, or Juliana Hatfield? The both have nice voices but once Chris's
belted out verse like on "reach down" or "I awake", "tdittl", "limo
wreck", "mailman" etc, etc it would just sound like one person was
    singing. C-ya

Oh man... that is one of the greatest things I've read in a looooong
time. I laughed all day!! Matt as Tiny Tim. I hope someone associated with
SG keeps tabs on this list and reads some of the posts to them. That one was
a classic. I love you guys!! Actually, I see Chris more as the ghost of
Christmas present, and Kim as the ghost of Christmas future. Matt is
obviously Tim, and only Ben could fully bring out Scrooge's character. Kim
would make death look sooo cool. He's evil looking, anyway.

about Room a Thousand Years Wide: I think it is one of the mos trockin'
songs on BMF, (but aren't they all?) and it is odd that it is a song for
which Chris is not credited, but remember that Matt wrote Somewhere.
(another excellent song) I think that "he" is perhaps the narrator's
conscience. But maybe not; it works for me. Think about it: "he" is
always there, near me, etc. etc. Just a thought. What are your thoughts
on the FOBD demo? Can you figure out the lyrics? Anyone? I thnk the
first line is "Like mineral days(?)/Blue colored lines on your face/Rebel
in your midst/ Settling like death to pay(?)..." I would totally
appreciate the corect (?) lyrics to this song, as I would love to cover
it once my band gets a gig somewhere. Of course we need a singer and a
bassist first...

Today on the radio here in Chicago they played "Rusty Cage" which is always

with Johnny Cash on the Twisted Willie CD and that the two of them had
gotten on so well that Johnny is going to cover -are you ready for this??
"Rusty Cage" on his newest CD!!! She didn't say whether Kim was going to
play the guitar or not. Maybe he'll play the banjo? The mind Boggles!!

No way! Johhny Cash covering Soundgarden. That is weird. I was just
thinking abou this today. We know what SG has covered, but who has
covered them? Guns 'n Roses did. Who else? Anybody know of any bands

Man did I haul score today. I got my paycheck and went out hunting for
SG stuff. First I saw the '96 SG calender for $7.99 at this one store.
I was going to buy it, and then I decided to get it on the way back.
It's a good thing, too, because the next store I went to was selling all
their calendars for $4.99!! Yahoo! At this same store, I have been
stalking a copy of the TDITTL single. This copy has been sitting on the
shelf for a year. It wasn't in the wrapper and the guy wanted $14.99.
There was no way I was going to pay that much for an unwrapped copy.
Today he was selling it for $4.99! Hahahahaha. I went across the street
and found a SG shirt I have never seen before. It says SOUNDGARDEN on
the front in a font I have not seen before, with blue and red spiral
letters. There is an old key and wooden tag that says 'superunknown'
hanging from the 'G', and an eyeball on the left sleeve. That's my story
and I'm sticking to it.

Well, I am new to this list and I love SG!! I am from Texas (Austin
specifically), and let me tell you some of those cowboys can really ROCK!!
Willie for one. I have seen that guy several times and he'll get up there
and play for 3 hours straight (alot longer than I've seen many other groups
play). Its good to see musicans that seem to have nothing in common
working together. I can't wait to hear the finished product.

cool too. I've never had Ramen noodles, so I can't fully appreciate the
significance of that design. (although I vaguely remember some discussion
about them) I definitely prefer the fork as the Official Unofficial
Soundgarden Homepage/mailing list t-shirt design. Check it out
everybody. For those w/out graphic capabilities on the web, it is a
twisted fork not unlike the following ascii representation. (yeah, right)

It's time for an update on the count of SOMMS owners on the somms mailing

radio stations who already had BMF. It has no art.
If anybody else has a copy, email me preferably with the word SOMMS in
the subject. I'll only count genuine copies, and assume they are on CD
unless you tell me. (there are some on vinyl I believe)

The list of owners includes:

Seth
Chris Mackenzie

Cornell
Vikki

James Ingram
Little Joe
Blind Dog

Hey, all I said was that I was making the submissions available for
all to see. Just because an image appears there doesn't mean I'm the
one who created it.

The best way to do this is to keep the artists' names a secret, so our
personal opinions of each other don't interfere with the selection
process.

I think it should have somms on the front on the pocket, and the fork
design, as is, on the back, and the URL on the sleeve if it is a tee.
Simple. If you know what somms is, you'll get it. If not, you'll ask
alot of questions. Remember, the more colors and shit we have on it,
the more it will cost. People will see you walking down the hall or
street and go 'Posting with my good eye closed? What the hell is that
supposed to mean??', unless of course they are a fan, in which case they
will say 'oh you're a somms member, let me worship at your feet'

I just tried to visit the Official SG website, and the link is outdated.
This is usually a sign of construction. I guess this means that we get
some more soundgarden web material. I for one am very curious about the
content of the revised site. It would be really cool if they updated it
more often. It hasn't changed in months. (although I guess I shouldn't
talk, mine hasn't either) more soundgarden more soundgarden more
soundgarden more soundgarden more soundgarden more soundgarden more
soundgarden more soundgarden more soundgarden more soundgarden more

It's been revised, significantly! There's now a FAQ and a discog
(though when I checked it out, a few of the links were not set up
correctly), and it does look excellent (hats off to Alex Mayer, the
graphics man). They claim, unfortunately, that SOMMS was released on
CD only.
