Wow, this will be as fun as the band names.

Somms against Kev's Mom. (wow that's lame)

It could be one of those shirts (heavy white is great) with a little
logo on the front, like where a pocket would be. I like the
Badmotorfinger wheel with Soundgarden written above it, or have that
wheel on the back (really big, of course) with the slogan wrapped
around it, and it could just say Soundgarden across the front in red
letters just like on the BMF cover.

Y'know, I always thought that in 'outshined' where chris sings the part
about the grass being greener, he said, "where the dogs are shitting."
It makes more sense. Even though it says 'shedding' in the lyrics in the
booklet, I bet they put 'shedding' so that it could be played on the radion
w/o any censoring.
Then again, maybe I'm full of shed.

I know what a mellotron is!! :) It's basically a keyboard with lots of weird
sound effects and stuff.. The first ever synthesizer. It's what the Beatles
use on Strwaberry fields at the start :)

Does this mean that Kim is the ojnly member of the band who isn't
multitalented? I remember reading somwhere that Chris used to have piano

Yeah Posting seems top running, but maybe a little more to do with the list,
like someone said putting Santanoscillatemymettallicsontas above the sologon
with a ? I mean how many times have we been asked what SOMMS is :) And i
think the web address should be put on it aswell. Might have to cut down on
writting etc depending on cost I guess. But lets keep the ideas following

Chris also plays the harmonica and banjo. And the drums but we already
knew that. And Matt plays the guitar, because he said he wrote Fresh
Tendrils (I think) on an acoustic. And Ben plays guitar on Hater. And
Matt sings on Hater. I think Kim should feel left out. Although he

How would we go about getting the images to whoever is going to get the
shirts? And there is a local place that I might be able to get good
prices on shirts. And they do a pretty good job. The guy starts out
with an image on his computer and then somehow puts it on a shirt.
Someone should find out how many shirts people want so we know. But I
guess we have to figure out what to put on it first. I like the idea
of a white shirt, because I don't have any white shirts.

Hey! I like grunge brown. Chris wears it. Maybe it should be the heavy

Okay if you use the twisted fork, and want SOMMS (long version) incorporated on
it, use the word like a piece of noodle (Ramen Noodle), intertwined on the
fork.....

Mailman,

Yeah, I bought TDITTL single a coupla months ago just for Like Suicide and
I've loved it ever since....I've been trying to figure out the TAB for quite a
while, but I figure it's gotta be just about the same as the electric version
off of the album. Yes, there's definitely a 12-string acoustic playing in
there, 'cause you can hear the higher octave G-string ringing very nicely thru
the rendition of Chris' solo. The only problem I have is that I don't get the
FULL sound like the recording probably because I don't have someone else on
guitar playing with me. I can't figure out what guitars are being
played...are there 2 12-strings going at it or a 12 and a 6 or more than 2
guitars altogether? Was Chris playing both guitars on separate tracks and
then simply had them blended into one song or is Kim playing the other
one(s)??

Actually, NO, the accident did not occur the DAY Black Sabbath got
its contract (actually, that would be sort of silly - I mean, I know
Brits are supposed to be pretty laid back, and I know that Tony Iommi
is a genius, but still, can you just see, "Oh Bloody Hell, I seem to
have lost the tips of two of my fingers. Very well then, I guess I'll
just tune my guitar down, and put something over the ends of my fingers,
and record one of the most influential albums in Rock-n-Roll history
in only 8 hours. Cheerio."
Actually, the accident occured several years before Black Sabbath.
Tony Iommi worked in a machine shop and he was working with a metal-
press, and he got his fingers caught in the press, and when he felt the
pain, he jerked his hand away, leaving the tips of his fingers behind.
It was not his last day because he was going on to do Sabbath, it
was his last day becasue he didn't have fingertips.
Anyway, he had been a good amateur guitarist before then, but after
the accident (when he healed) the skin grew right over the bone at the
end of his fingers, and it hurt too much to play.
He totally gave-up the guitar for about a year, until a friend of
his gave him a blues (or jazz) record that featured a guitar player that
only had 3 fingers. (I can't remember the guy's name, or I'd tell you.)
Anyway, after hearing the record, Tony Iommi decided to try playing
the guitar again. His original finger caps were old thimbals (sp) with
little pieces of leather glued to them (to press on the strings).
Even with the caps, the strings still hurt (in those day, they
didn't have light-guage strings), so he used banjo strings, and down
tuned his guitar (in order to accomodate his fingers, and so that his
finger caps would perform properly).
And on that day, heavy metal was conceived.
And NO, Tony Iommi does not hate his mother (nor did he hate her
years ago).
Even Ozzy (who hates Tony Iommi) says that Tony's Mom was they
coolest Mom of all of them. She used to supply the truck for the early
Sabs, and buy them cigarettes, and give them as much as she could.
(All of there parents did what they could, but Tony's Mom just had a
little bit more money and stuff, and so helped out Sabbath the most.)

Yes,yes y'all,

This is my first foray into the free-for-all melee we call somms, so bear
with me.
I'm down with a heavy grey t-shirt. Not like one of those white tees with
a whole bunch of black blobs to make it look grey. I'm talkin` about a
smooth grey shirt with whatever slogan we decide on it.
In my eyes, Soungarden walks in the real life and life is seldom black or
white. SG write's what some people call depresssing stuff, but what we
know to be real stuff. Anything that tells the unadulterated, raw truth
only gives you knowledge, opens your eyes, and emboldens and strengthens us.
In light of this realization, I think grey would be a kick ass tribute
color to SG.
I don't think we should spell out what SOMMS means. SOMMS is meant only
for those who know, and those who are curios enough, and brave enough to
find out what it means. Let's not cheapen it by laying out there for
any old jackass to see. I think we ought to put SOMMS,just SOMMS, on it.

I'm Audi,

Justin Zachariah

Is anyone familiar with the band Total chaos, a hardcore band on the
Epitaph label. They have this quote in their latest album, "Patriotic
Shock." They will be on the Damned tribute album but they are a lot
harder than Rat Scabies and Captain Sensible could ever be. This shows
that you don't have to be a lot like your musical influences. For
example, Paul McCartney was Ozzy's favorite artist. This is why I think
Mother Mania may have written "Soundgarden Sucks" (even though I haven't
heard it) in tribute or as a means of expressing their liking for
Soundgarden---people have weird ways of doing this. If anyone knows
lyrics to the MM song, post some so we can see if the song is derogatory
or not.

For anyone who can make it, Ghoul will be playing at a club called
"Numbers" in Houston. It is on Westheimer. The opening acts are Unleaded
and Tear. Tear is a kind of old band also from the Northeast, trying to
make a comeback and Unleaded is from Minneapolis. Tear is heavy---a lot
like a combo of Misfits, Metallica, and Pantera. Unleaded is more
hardcore/punk---they use three or maybe four chords in 3/4 or 4/4 time.
Ghoul, who has the widest appeal of any of these bands is from New
York/New Jersey and they are grungish and punkish. They are like a
combination of Soundgarden, Sabbath, Misfits, and Replacements. They do
weird covers too. The show is at 8 pm on Friday. Tickets are only $13 so
try to see these bands or at least Ghoul, one of my favorite bands.

Ok, here's my vote on T shirt

Grey shirt, like mentioned before.
SOMMS somewhere on the shirt, spelled out or acronysim i don't care
The fork thing is a good idea
NO BMF logo, i think that would be cheesy, like a ripoff.
I'm flexible on the address....it'd be cool, but i think it would take
away from the "mystery" of what SOMMS is...i like mystery.
I say if anyone who is a good artist has ideas for graphics for the
shirts, they can draw their idea and send it to seth. He could post it
on the site and we could take a vote on what graphics we use.
That's all.

Should a musicians behavior be kept in mind when evaluating his

because of Ben Shepard. From what I've heard on this list and

of the band. But he also seems to be, well..and asshole. I've heard
countless stories of him spitting and cursing on fans, threatening to

Subject: T-shirt - summary

Hi all,
I'm feeling organised today. So here's a summary of what I think people in
general would like to see on the T-shirt:

Colour: many say not black (that includes me - I only prefer not black
because I already have ooodles of band t-shirts (including SG ones) that are
mainly black, so it would be nice to have something different).
          many say heavy white.
some say not white (Deb pointed out so many bands used to have
white t-shirts).

So............how about any colour other than black or white? Most people
who have commented on a colour have said they don't mind, but they don't
want black, or they don't want white (or even don't want grunge brown! -
Dana). We could have whatever colour might be the cheapest on the day.

Logo: small wheel from badmotorfinger sounds like the go - on the front
where a pocket might normally be (Nothingman's idea).

Fork: Jamie's idea of a Ramen noodle twisted around a twisted fork is
fantastic. Remember ClownWithBazooka started up a topic a few months ago on
those noodles? So we have a reason to have one of them on a fork. And the
twisted fork of course represents Chris in the band.

What's to be written:
I agree with Justin who made a good point about not writing out the full
SOMMS meaning. Just leave it SOMMS. I suggest we have a fork across the
front, with a Ramen noodle in the shape of the letters Soundgarden. And on
the back, I think we should have:

What do you think of that? Ideas, comments, votes, whatever, please..........

How about the color gold? I mean, in "Limo Wreck" we've got ".....while
the rest of you harvest the GOLD." What do you think?

I can keep up with Gun...it's tough to do, but I can pull it off...but then
again, I play rhythm guitar. Never mind.

Matt...

Ummm..okay...it depends on the graphic. If it looks good on white, let's
make a deal.

I wonder if this means that Kyle Petty will be the first single for the
new album? I wonder if how many different singles there will be of Kyle
Petty, and i wonder if we'll hear Kyle Petty on the radio. Yeah, i know
what you are thinking. we'll never hear Kyle Petty on the radio because
of the language. Hey, closer got on the radio. -j

Subject: Biking and Soundgarden

Hey All-
Taking advantage of a rare nice weather day in Nebraska, I opted
to skip all of my classes and get on my bike, which has been the
super glue that has kept my sanity together for the past year.
Anyway, to highten the biking experience, I slapped in
'Louder Than Love' while going through a wooden area stretch of about
20 miles. Let's just say that it was one of the most ephoric feelings
I have ever experienced. Biking thorgh mud while sun is shining through
dead trees and no one is around, nothing quite like it. Until "hands
all over" and "Gun" came on.
Flooring through trees and mud kept my speed down to around 15 mph
but it didn't matter, with that volume cranked, I felt immortal for about
10 minutes, then I hit a stump. Anyway, it just added to a great day.
Soundgarden, a bike path with no one on it, a quality brew(Crimson Voodoo
Ale) after a ride and a chicken fajita dinner. Is there nothing finer
in a well rounded day?

My thoughts, my experiences

And I'll add my little bit more.

>Ok, here's my vote on T shirt
>
>Grey shirt, like mentioned before.
Yeah GREY :) I have white, I have black but only one grey band shirt. BTW I
have seen a white SG shirt, it is white, with black on the edge, and has the
shot of the band that is used in promo stuff for TDITTL. It's cool, anyway......

>SOMMS somewhere on the shirt, spelled out or acronysim i don't care
SOMMS yes we need that, it is the SOMMS list after all. And I like leaving
it as SOMMS now, that way we just will get asked more times what it means :)

>The fork thing is a good idea
Yeah, if someone can draw it, it would be very cool, with Soundgarden
through it or maybe just the fork, depending on the difficulty. IF not
throught the fork, next to it, under it or something.

>NO BMF logo, i think that would be cheesy, like a ripoff.
Yeah, I would rather something original, we do after all have BMF shirts to
wear elsewhere.

>I'm flexible on the address....it'd be cool, but i think it would take
>away from the "mystery" of what SOMMS is...i like mystery.
I think there should be an address somewhere, the web address just to let
ppl now what the shirt is, and maybe get a few more ppl looking at the
page/joining the list.

So put the Fork on the front, put SOMMS List, Posting with our Good Eye
Closed on the back and maybe a little logo just to fill up the back a bit.

I guess we have to find out the cost, and it's cheaper if we order in bulk,
So ppl go out and find a place you can screen print shirts and see what the
cost is for say 100 shirts. There are 300+ ppl I think , but don't expect
everyone to buy a shirt.

Now, will be be done by May? Cause that way all of us in Aust can wear it to
the concert and spot each other and laugh and the geeky ppl we really are :)

I like the 'weird green or purple' idea. haven't you guys seen the
Kickstand shirt w/ the tricycle? It's purple, isn't it? and it's way
cool and different. Plus I have the SG shirt w/ the jungle sort of scene
on the front and it's grey...I've had enough of grey and black.
Can't one of you trivia folks out there figure out what Chris's (or
Kim's or Ben's or Matt's) favorite color is?
