I know that this in not SG related, but there has been more than one post
on the Transformers. That wonderful TV show is on the Sci-Fi channel. I
just got it added to my basic cable, so I don't know how long it's been
on, but I'm very happy about it. Here in Arizona, it's on at 6:30 AM (!)

Well, all you people With ?'s about the CDA, here you go, notes from a FAQ:

Had to have this here, cuz George Carlin rules.

Yeah!

Yeah!

Good idea. Anyone know where i can get detailed info on which way the
senator's besides exon and leahy voted?

Now this is a little difficult to believe. Your sposed to ask for
someone's id over the internet i guess, before you talk to them in
indecent speech.

Well, help this cleared up any question's. For a complete FAQ, you can

despite what we all know about SG, how great a band, how great the music,
and how cool the members are, they don't seem to get the kind of public
support that a lot of bands get. on 89X, which is probably the best, and
definitely the original alternative music station in the detroit area
(out of windsor, heard as far away as winnipeg and chicago on occasion),
they have a kind of call in battle of the bands thing like every night,
or at least every weekend, and SG was on two inghts this weekend, and got
their asses kicked by the likes of the beastie boys and nine inch nails.
ministry also holds some of the top spots on the contest. they did beat
out smashing pumpkins, but i found it really surprising how, in a town
that really does have a big rock crowd, and is one of the best places in
the country to see bands, new and old, that the attraction and obvious
charms of Soundgarden are passed over. i guess there's just no accounting
for taste. okay, i totally lost the point of my reply. what i was going
to say was i think that ministry has a bigger fan base than soundgarden
in a lot of places. for sure al jourgensen does, since he's in like
twelve different projects, all of them successful to varying degrees.
either way, in the reality of this sick universe, i do think that SG
would be opening for ministry on a tour, although i really don't think
that SG should be opening for anyone. i don't think anyone in the world
would have the balls to follow SG's act.

There are 2 ways of playing FOBD.. The difference being the C chord.. On the
album it's a straight C major triad but on the video it's C5.. I like the
album version better myself, but that's just my opinion :)

I wish I had a room mate like that, mine just sings out of tune to bad dance

hey all...

does anybody have any GOOD tab for head down? i gave up on cherry lane
crap after i saw their feeble attempt at fobd. jeezuz...could we
possibly slide fifths up and down the fretboard for no apparent reason
any more than that suggests???

i'm having problems getting stuff from olga so if anyone has this
stuff and wants to send it to me direct, that would be peachy.

also...to the honorable `coolio'...thanks for the capo advice on
seasons. i'll give it a try, since the triple `f' tuning i was using
has proven to be far more trouble than it's worth...normally i don't
particularly dig capos, but i've learned that when dealing with
material written by the pros (sg, dinosaur jr., afghan whigs etc.) the
only other alternative is a bunch of sore fingers.

coolio (and other serious musicians out there) gimme an e-mail to talk
about the finer technical aspects of sg's music and music in general.
(unfortunately, i've learned that such discussion tends to not go over so
well on this list...excepting my good buddy glenn and a few others...i still
have scars left over from the pumpkins debate a few weeks ago.)

later...

here's the news you've been waiting for:

direct from addicted to noise: http://www.addict.com/ATN

Soundgarden have finally checked out of Stone Gossard's Litho Studio
in Seattle, and are happily ensconced at Bad Animal (also in Seattle)
mixing their new album that may or may not be titled Infamous Sports
Biography. We've heard various reports from Seattle-ites about the
names of some of the songs, but we couldn't get Soundgarden's label to
confirm any of them, instead a contact there told us: "The band is in
mixing hell right now, and trying to decide exactly what will go on
the record. We can't release any of the song titles right now, because
the band keeps changing the names of the songs. We don't even know
what they're calling this record. " They did tell us that this
long-awaited follow-up to the triple platinum selling Superunknown was
self-produced, and would be released on May 21. "It's not the "Black
Hole Sun" Soundgarden, it's more like the "I Tried To Live"
Soundgarden on this album," said our source. "It's a grittier, more
live sound than the first album--it doesn't sound so produced."

As for those Soundgarden song titles, for what it's worth, here are
some of the titles we heard: "Karaoke," "Ty Cobb," "Christi," "Blow Up
The Outside World," "Boot Camp," and "Apple Pie." Be forewarned. Those
are the titles that are floating around at the moment, but the band
may have changed the names, or they may not be included them.

Latest word on Soundgarden playing Lollapalooza. Our very loquacious
spokesperson told us: "It looks 80% certain that the band will do the
festival."
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 21! that's the record companies first release date...add two
weeks to that...so June 4! New album!!!! That's 16 weeks away from
today! or 112 days...start the countdown....

Hello all..I have no idea if this is going out to you or not, but I'll
try.
This is my first time writing in to a digest, so I'll try not to sound like too
 much of a fuck-up.
Anyway, just going to pose the question that you've all heard at least
48,637,500,023 times before....What's your fav. SG song? album?
For me, probably Outshine...(There's a little story there)
And for the album, not exactly sure as I haven't heard the whole Super OK (?)
album. Probably a combo of most of their stuff.
Well, I am here listening...My name is Jay. Hopefully I'll hear from someone

soon.Thanx....JCP

i think that's generally true in this country, but the feeling i get is
that industrial stuff is much bigger in europe and asia. a girl i know
who is an exchange student form the former soviet union (place that got
hit by the earthquake, starts with an A, blanking on the name) anyway,
she was bigger into ministry and front 242 and a few others than most of
what we would consider popular music. she'd never even heard of green
day, live, or the red hot chili peppers. and if i remember correctly, the
ministry thing was supposed to be in australia. i don't think ministry
has a bigger fan base in this country, but i would argue that they have
more loyal fans than SG.

Thanks for the tip...but I'm one of them people who'd buy it just for the
music tracks, if necessary. :)

Once again, thanks.

Tim,

There is a great New York punk/alternacore band called Ghoul that you
should look into. They sound kind of like a
Soundgarden/Tool/Misfits/Sabbath conglomerate. The musicians are pretty
gifted, the lyrics are dark but introspective and intelligently written
and their live performances are unbelievable. The bassist, MCS Baggue
throws frogs (his favorite animals) into the crowd and swings on cords
onstage a la the members of Van Halen in the Panama video. Their latest
single is available mostly in the northeast and it is called "Ode to
Spodes" and the B-side is a cover of Anthrax's "I'm the Man." They believe
in doing radically altered covers of bands that influenced them. Their
debut EP "Kill the Kitten" contains the Cars' "You Might Think" and
Accept's "Balls to the Wall." It's a great album. Also you might watch
their video, "Bucket of Xiao" on MTV's 120 Minutes.

I agree. SG did -NOT- sellout. If anyone really followed SG, they'd
realize that all of their CD's are somewhat different than the other, and
they all have a different feel.
People just got the picture when Superunknown was released.
(Personally, Superunknown was a bit of a disappointment because of it's
lack of intensity...but it is excellent none the less)

Hey, Canadians looking for AITS or SFTS - a few days ago I found a copy of
SFTS in the cd store here on campus, although I didn't see AITS there (and I
didn't ask about it cause I don't have a cdrom anyway). So, I guess they
are floating around up here somewhere, so keep on lookin'. BTW, the store I
found it in was Dr. Disc. Alie.

Subject: Talking about Seattle

Hello , guys!!! It is very great for me to be in touch with such a list . I
am not american , I am Italian . I would you like to talk with you about the
Soundgarden and which is the reletionship the have been keeping with a;; the
others group from Seattle. When all this new groups came out, in my country
they just use it as a sort of new fashion . As they use to say , that was
the new GRUNGE style .I know that mostof the people and group; from Seattle
hated that.I read that a lot of the singers from Seattle's bands cut their
hair to protest against this commercialisation. What I would like to Know is
if it was the same in America and especially in Seattle.Another thing. I saw
Soundgarden last September in Swiss and it was Ok .But I was really
impressed of what a friend of mine said to me after having see them in
Italy. He was telling me that the guitarrist or the bassist ( sorry I don' t
remember exatly ) at one point during the concert was starting to say and to
do :"fuck you all" . People was very upset and they started to through
aginst him little stones . And a lot, bbut he didn't move at all!!!They were
not hurting him !!! So my friend said :"He was completely stoned!!!"I really
like Soundgarden for the music that they do . I don'tknow them personally(of
course not!). So I really don't know how they are. I can just guess
something from their songs I mean what they want to tellus and so on . But
the point is that there a lot of person that make them became a sort of
hereos.Maybe they are. I believe they are more poets than hereos. And when
you go to their concert and see such things happening , is not so nice.I
don't care if they take drugs or not. I just can give opinions about the
music they play . But don't you think they(or better he ) should not act
like that in respect of the people were there to see them? I have finish for
the moment . Ihope to have a lot of replies about that (good or bad, I
don't care). And if someone from Seattle would keepin touch with me about
what I have said first , I will be really very glad . Thank you very much .

Subject: SG's New Album???

I was sitting around my dorm room recently, looking through a
friend's old copy of "Rolling Stone", and I noticed an article about
SG's soon-to-be-released album. The article mentioned the usual
publicity stuff, but listed a few titles of songs that will be on the
new one- one of which was called "Ty Cobb". I was wondering if anyone
had already heard any demos of this song, or any other song that's going
to be released on this album? If so, I'd sure love to get a copy for
myself...
