They do lots of voice things throughout Sg and TOTD albums. Chris is

this. Chris sings high, and Chris sings low, all at once. And on
Reach Down, but I already said that.

I read some Representative's web page (which was black) and he was
totally against the Bill. There was an address, but I dunno if it's
correct or has any validity at all. But, here it is, for the WHOLE

JJ>selling out, does anyone else think so or have any other ideas? I don't
JJ>know, lyrically maybe but musically i get a really different image. . . i
JJ>don't know.

Could be, although I thought it was just about a guy who's having a bad
day. But then again, that's what I think about all those depressing SG
songs that I can't get a real meaning out of. Anyway, Chris once said
in an interview that he always feels better after he writes a
depressing song like that, but he didn't feel better after he wrote
that one, and he doesn't like to do it live, because of that.
I think this is a pretty good possibility though. Here goes my
thoughts...
"Yeah, you know where I'm coming from" to all the old fans, or even new
ones that understand that they do it because they like it, not for the
money.
"Give up to greed, you don't have to feed me." He doesn't need the
money because he lives quite comfortably.
"Give up to fate, you don't have to need me" I'm not sure about this,
but maybe it has something to do with the people don't have to listen
to it just to be cool, or something.
"So throw it away, you don't have to take me.
make no mistake I am what you make me." now that they are famous,
people make what they want of their stuff and them (kinda like we do on
this list, and what I'm doing here, but maybe in a more negative way)
But maybe he's sfraid that he'll die and not accomplish anything or
gain anything.
"Heal my wounds without a trace. Seal my tomb without a face, I'm
going to a lonely place." People aren't noticing him and he'll die an
unknown man (yeah, right). Probably like Beethoven (or was this
Mozart...I can't remember, help URB@NO) felt after his last
performance. He was deaf and he wrote one last piece, and when he
conducted it (conducting would be facing away from the audience), he
thought that everybody hated it and started crying and then his friend
turned him around to see the audience cheering and standing O'ing him
and stuff. No, I think it was Mozart. Anyway, I forget my point.

Yep. It's there. And it's Nothing To Say from the Screaming Life EP.
Click on the little caption button and you'll see something about
Soundgarden. It says something about Nothing to Say, but at the end,

amazed me as to how Green Day became so popular. Hell Bad Religion has
been putting out better albums of the same type of music since the early

are more intellegent. Why not play Black Flag and get rid of that damn

mail. Since June 1993, whitehouse.gov has received over 750,000
messages from people all across the country and the world.

Because so many of you write, the President cannot
personally review each message. The mail is first read by White

President weekly with a representative sampling of the mail.

All of us at the White House are excited about the progress

wouldn't STOP playing Soundgarden! It just kept COMING! And they
played OLD Soundgarden and RARE Soundgarden!! They played Mailman,
Rusty Cage, Spoonman, Girl U Want, Jesus Christ Pose, Into The Void,
Loud Love, Let Me Drown, 4th of July, Full on Kevin's Mom and Outshined!
All in a goddam ROW! It was <sniff> the most beautiful hour of

I just found another reason why SG is so awesome. I have noticed that
nobody really hates SG. I mean, people hate Nirvana because they think Kurt
was a complete loser with depression. People hate Pearl Jam because they
think Eddie Vedder is a loser who can't sing worth shit. People hate
Smashing Pumpkins because they think they suck and Billy Corgan can't sing.
But, when you think about it, nobody hates Soundgarden. It's almost as if
they're untouchable. They're so fucking awesome, that you can't hate them.

PS-None of those opinions about Nirvana, PJ, and SP are mine :-)

Has anyone else heard about the short summer tour Chris Cornell's small
side project the Unborn is planning?

My friend has a demo CD bootleg of these guys and they're different from
Soundgarden in that they are less detuned and Sabbathesque. They are more
like the New York Dolls or Kiss. They play clashing music with
semi-serious lyrics. One song, "Birthday Burial," is done with Weiland of
STP. They also do an extended cover of the Misfits, playing "Skulls" and
"Earth AD" in the middle of their own "Smells Alright." To get back to
the news of the tour, it seems that it will be mostly a West-coast tour
and perhaps Tool will join them. The members of the band (at least on the
demo bootleg are Chris on lead vocals and guitars, a guy named Zeek on
guitars and backing vocals, a guy named Zac on bass, and Capt. Zoock on
drums. I have no idea who these guys really are. Someone write back if
they have additional information on this tour/band's releases.

Uhhhh since I don't hear Loud Love or Kevin's Mom on the radio every
month, I consider them kind of old (for them to be playing on the radio,
since all I usally hear is stuff from BMF or Superunknown) and I NEVER
hear shit from Somms on the radio so I consider that kinda rare for the
radio. I mean after hearing Black Hole Sun 50,000 times, to hear Jesus
Christ Pose on a national station I thought was cool. I mean when you
talk about it in radio terms, if they played something like Nothing To
Say on Z-rock or Fluttergirl, even, that's NOT gonna happen. So I
consider stuff like Loud Love and Into The Void rare for the radio's
standards. Gee, sorry about that. Damn, I thought this was the
Soundgarden mailing liste, but you told me, to um, reconsider my liking
for Soundgarden, Seth, did you change this to the I HATE Soundgarden

As was mentioned earlier all the Pumpkin gear was bogged down in Portland
due to some massive flooding that closed down all the freeways. That meant
that the show was delayed for two hours while the band scraped together
some equipment. At first I had heard that they were going to rent stuff,
but then Billy and James said that they borrowed the stuff from Pearl
Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. <shrug>

They played Pearl Jam's Alive for several chords. James made some
comment about the guitar he was using was a Stone Gossard model. Billy
said his looked like a McCready model. That's when the broke into
Alive. I think it's something about the Moore theatre that makes bands
want to cover PJ. It's got something to do with the fact that the
Evenflow video was taken from a video of a live performance at the Moore.

Yeah, the stupid thing about the driver disc is that my drive WILL play
CD+, although the disc says it cannot! I think the only drivers on the
disc are SCSI anyway. If you have an IDE, it is only supposed to tell
you WHETHER your drive is capable. I would throw the driver disc out the
window on the way home. It only confuses you.

The same thing happened to me last month at a music collector's
convention, except I payed $15 (but that's Canadian: $10.95 US). So I
wonder how many copies are owned by members of the list? It must be 30
or 40, unless we include Seth's copies which would make the better part
of the 100 000 in existence. ;) Hands up if you've got a copy!

No doubt!! Soundgarden opening for Ministry?? I don't think so. I
think they'll do just fine as the main act.

Well, i don't like Cherry Lane's songbook transcription of FOBD.
Guitarworld's version seems much better to me. What tabs are way off?
Not all of us are professionals or have perfect pitch, you know.

Wish i had a musical roommate. Well, i might next year. But bongos
would be cool. Almost as cool as chimes. -j
