Paul Westerberg used to be in a band called the Replacements.. More than that
I don't know :) I agree that the singles soundtrack is a damn fine album, it
was through that that I got into Soundgarden in the first place.. Birth Ritual
rocks :)

JJ> who is paul westerberg? should i know this?

He is from a band called the Replacements. I picked up their tape in a
bargain bin, being the They Might Be Giants fan that I am (they have a
song called, "Hi, We're the Replacements", but it has nothing to do
with the band, which I found out after I bought the album. Good thing
it was only a quarter, they SUCK!) Anyway, I saw his name in the
Replacements album, and I thought I had heard of him somewhere before.
i realized I was getting him confused with Kevin Westerburg, which is a
guy who does a lot of photography for Soundgarden. I have a poster,
and his name is at the bottom. But then I got the Singles soundtrack,
and Paul Westerburg by himself is a lot better than when he wa with the
replacements.

Just for the record, this show was in Paris. I also have four of SG's songs
from this set on video: "Searching With My Good Eye Closed", "Face Pollution",
"Hands All Over", and "Jesus Christ Pose". They were excellent.

Hi there.

Frizzlout.

-Just thought that I could make my post one long-ass customized
signature. I don't have any witty graphics or things to say, so I'm
basically following the norm! I thought that with all the duct tape
discussion, I could add a little quote I like: "Duct tape is like the
Force, it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe
together." Now I will shamelessly plug my bands: buy my band's CD!
Listen to my band! Come see my band play! CD's only $15 while they last
don't be a silly chump buy one today! Lessee, what else? Are you still
reading this crap? Haven't you figured out that you're wasting vast
amounts of precious time reading this crap? Lessseeee, my favorite SG
songs for this week (so you can't say it's completely SG unrelated) 1)
She Likes Surprises 2) Searching W/My Good Eye Closed 3) Hell yes

OK, if you're still reading this, you're a trooper, and you get the Fry
Medal of Masochism and a firm handshake. Congratulations, you're more
bored than I, and for some reason you are torturing yourself. Stop it,
you're a good kid, you deserve something nice. Let me suggest a My Dixie
Weekend CD, only $15 while supplies last. By now you surely realize this
post is pointless, and is really nothing more than a satire of all those
goddamn posts that have 20 lines of snappy quotes and feeble graphics
made to make the sender look more unique. Yes, I'm talking to you, too.
Well stop it, for the love of god, or Chris or whoever you've chosen to
believe in. Pleeeese? I'll be your best friend, we can hang out
together and on Satudays we'll macrame stuff, won't that be swell? See

This info was given to us earlier htis week as well...b/c we do a zine

Ain't it nice people can just post stuff b/c they call the office and

Chris Corenell would seem perfect to do the theme to Transformers.
Its campy enough for Cornell to come up with some good wails, and
Kim could do some trippy guitar sections.
But it would be the price of the CD to hear them do the theme to
the original Muppet Show of the 70s and early 80s.

MC&IS would make an excellent single album and maybe one ep, but
unfortuantely that leaves about five or six songs, yes on the second

s and Bulldozers is #2. Like Suicide is #3. That's a tough question because
these favorites change like every twenty minutes or so. But as of right now,
they're my favorites. These songs do remain pretty consistent throughout my
SG history. If they would have done a song for that cartoon soundtrack, they
should have done Thundercats. I know it wasn't really on Saturday mornings,
but if they did an afterschool cartoon thing, it would be cool, too. I could
just hear Chris ripping out the Thundercats, HOOOOOOOOOO line. See ya!

Where I'm from (Minneapolis), Paul is a legend. The Replacements
pretty much set the standard for sloppy garage rock/pop. Yeah, they kinda
suck in some ways, but it's the feeling they're bringin and at the time they
absolutely kicked ass. The former lead guitarist for the Replacements just
died of a heroin overdose last year, Bob Stinson. Husker Du, Soul Asylum, and
Replacements all ruled the Mini Apple.

Hey boys, girls, and hermaphrodites! I've gotta throw a log on
the proverbial duct tape fire. I was Fleet Farm (a big discount hardware
type store, kinda like Menards, if you haven't heard of either, oh well)
Anyway, I was there and me and my roommates were just walking around cuz
we had already gotten what we needed to get and we're idiots so...
ooh boy, I'm really rambling on today. We came to the duct tape aisle and
they had "Duck" brand duct tape. It had a cute little duck on the label and
they had the regular silver stuff and black, red, blue, green, and brown.
I checked it out and it was the exact same stuff as the silver, it was just
colored different. The label was still the same. It said "Duck" tape. I
think all you non-believers should check with your local duct tape authorities
before crushing our colored duct tape beliefs. If anyone ever sees some
flourescent color tape, send me some! Wouldn't it be cool if Soundgarden
had a cameo cartoon appearance on Hulk Hogan's Rock and Wrestling? Capt.
Lou could play bass with them or something and then Kim could team up with
the Junkyard Dog and fight Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik?

Does anyone else think that stupid on-line mtv yak thing is stupid? I
can't even stand to read some of the things those people say.

Also, how many damn vacations can they take? They've been in hawaii and
aspen for about... three or four years now...

One more non sg thing. The new foo fighters video is hilarious. I don't
care much for the song, but its great.

Now, sg related: SG rules! (tee hee)

This might be a bit off the point, but was it Raw magazine that was taken over
by Select, or was that Kerrang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard that one of our great
British rock mags had been taken over by select and was now devoted to Britpop

Maybe Polos are collectors items in America :)

You can tell it's Mark Arm because generally any time he is
singing, he will be the one singing about the fact that he isn't
famous and doesn't have any money by parodying the Seattle
scene. Take Overblown and Generation Spokesmodel for one. Or
for two. And his Seattle accent isn't as heavy. -j

Yeah.. And that cool one at the end of disc 1 where James Iha sounds like
Kermit the frog :)

I agree.. But then I liked "Bugs" off Vitalogy :)

Oh yeah.. Take That are way too underrated.. They should play them a lot more
on TV and radio. In fact I think there should be a special Take That channel
so that I coul listen to their great songs all day... (please note EXTREME
sarcasm)

Well, since they change so much i figure i get a shot at this one
as well.

1. Whatever song i am yelling along to the radio with at the
time. (Usually
Slaves and Bulldozers, Let Me Drown, or The Day I Tried to Live)
2. Whatever song i am playing on guitar at the time.
3. Fourth of July, even though it fits into the previous two
categories as well.

Also, down hair in North Care-O-Line-Uh, Richard Petty is runnin'
for secratary of state. If he wins, i wonder if they'll play Kyle
Petty, Son of Richard at his victory party. I wonder if Kyle Petty
knows of this song. If so, i wonder if he wishes he could blast it
at about 150 decibels out of his car while he was winning a race or
something. -j

Yeah, one of the local record stores here was giving out Twisted Willie
promo posters for free. I think it has everyone's name around the edges
of the poster EXCEPT for Kim's. How dare they. -j

So why don't you email them and discontinue the service, if it's that
much hassle to receive the stuff - instead of whining about it. It is a
service. They are offering you merchandise that cannot be purchased
anywhere else. What do you expect? It's a FAN club. They are sending
offers for FANS. I am anxiously awaiting the oppurtunity to buy some SG
merchandise. You're even bitching about the _caYou don't think they will
be collector's items in 20-30 years? Appreciate it for what it is...
