That weird breathing thing after every line that Eddie does, you said? I
know all about that because my 7th grade music teacher also teaches
choir. Nice lady. Anyway, Chris took singing lessons, so he probably
learned to breathe correctly when singing.. you're supposed to breathe
from your diaphragm, so you don't go "GASP" every line like a ton of
singers do. Chris doesn't do that cuz Chris rules :) There's a different
way of breathing when you sing.
Eddie probably never took lessons. :)
Nothing against his voice, but I just prefer Chris's..

About Sg's depressing lyrics...a friend of mine was dealing w/ cancer
and was on the road to recovery when he got to see Sg on the last tour.
He said when they did Fell on Black Days, he just screamed "I can
identify, man!" and it made him feel better! :)

good album, brilliant band....sort of like a cross between Doors,

FO>Foreshocks

I don't think that's it. Eddie does it for effect, I think. I dunno,
though. But he's not gasping for air, he's just elongating the word at
the end of the line, and instead of keeping the word going, he breathes
really loud so we can hear him.
In any kind of music, you are taught to use you diaphram (like wind
instruments...especially brass. I play trumpet). I noticed everytime
Chris wails something on Motorvision, he rares back (like a trumpet
player when sqealing out the high notes) and his stomach just tightens
up (like a trumpet player anytime). I just noticed that, and thought
it was cool. Sometimes, though, on earlier albums (Ultramega OK,
especially) Chris starts wailing, and gets a bit out of control. I
think he does this on Inscessant mace a lot (it could be another...it's
been a while). But he's MUCH better at it now (not that he was bad
before). But Eddie does pretty good at controling his voice too. I
like the emotion that each of them put into their singing. And the
best part about it is, they sound great doing it.

Finally a discussion with some substance! Chris Cornell uses duct tape.

Duct tape. Not BLACK duct tape, but SILVER duct tape. Uses it on his
shorts, even. How much closer to his heart can you get?? (Well, maybe
if he used it as a shirt... I don't know, bear with me here.)

I suggest we look even deeper into the true meaning of the duct tape.
Find out what it's inner symbolicism suggests.

With all this talk aobut brass, I can't keep quiet any longer! There
is this truly cool band from...don't laugh...Spokane WA called Citizen
Swing, and they use a trumpet. Purely rockin' music and the trumpet
makes it sound unique. The lead singer is a heck of a guitarist, which
helps too. Any listers out in the PNW, check out this band!

a different side of me when I listen to SG. I don't listen to it before

I think it was Hit Parader magazine who put it best. "He's got a voice
that can stop a cahrging rhino at 30 paces." As for Layne, he's got
that monotone sorta voice going. I mean, when I imagine him talking, I
hear this guy with absolutely no change in his voice. Alice in Chains
are kinda weird if you think about it. Who ever thought to put slow
dreary lyrics over fast, kick ass guitars?

Yep. Temple of the Dog is great. especially when I'm depressed and
driving. I just sit back, drive fast, and sing my heart out. Times of
trouble, Call Me a Dog, and Four Walled World are great when I'm
depressed. So is All night Thing, because i wish I had one (an all
night thing, I mean). The whole album is great when I'm depressed, but
those songs are the best.

Sub Pop/Screaming Life whatever years Chris was taking singing lessons,
and if memory serves, he was dating Susan at the time :) Unless.. hm..

Nothingman message count: 210.

I haven't yet tallied the unrelated ones.

Let's try to stay focused here.
