you need to get a special driver for ANY non scsi type cd-rom. you know
whether or not it's a scsi because if it is, it'll have a special
controller that is hooked into the mother board. an IDE, which is
probably what yours is, can just plug into the hard drive controller or
your sound card or something. i have the creative labs 4x, and i got the
driver for that from geoff kleemola (thanks geoff, it works somewhat, by
the way, right now it's just alittle slow, guess i need more RAM) but you
should be able to get a driver from the manufacturer, or possibly off the
web somewhere. look for a web page by the people who make your drive, and
they might have a place to get those drivers. but corel only made it's
software for scsi type drives, so you need a special driver for it to be
recognized.

appreciate any discussion about this topic. Mailman is another one,
also. Anyway, that's all for now...

I have a couple things to say about alive in the superunknown:

1. How come on the Superunknown video, the opening guitar riff starts
before the band, but on the actual song, the opening riff starts with the
rest of the band? I thought maybe the same sound file was used in the
video of FOBD as the audio cd part, because it was the video version and
all. I guess i was wrong about that.

2. The only thing i can't get to work now is the record with the four
songs on it. It keeps saying get at: file not found or something of that
nature.

3. I bet i have the highest score on the pong game!!!!!!!! -j

Notice: The cheese-disco band, _Fancy_ was the original performer of
"Touch Me". Look for it in a 70's compilation near you :-)

Here is a list of cover songs that SG has performed, either in a full
version or as a musical diversion in such songs as "Slaves and
Bulldozers" and "Hands All Over". Has anyone heard another song in a
bootleg that isnt included here?

- -------------------------------------------------

VII. Cover Songs:

AC-DC - Problem Child
Beatles - Hey Jude
Beatles - Come Together
Beatles - Everybody's got something to hide except me and my monkee
Beatles - I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Bee Gee's - Stayin' Alive
Black Sabbath - Into The Void (Sealth)
Body Count - Cop Killer
Budgie - Homicidal Suicidal
Cheech & Chong - Earache My Eye
Devo - Girl U Want
Doobie Brothers - Jesus Is Just Alright (Actual writer is A. Reynolds)
The Doors - Waiting For The Sun
The Doors - Roadhouse Blues
Fancy - Touch Me
Fear - I Don't Care About You
Green River - Swallow My Pride - SG's version doesn't include the "This Ain't the Summer of Love"
chorus that the Green River version contains. "This Ain't the Summer of Love" was originally done
by Blue Oyster Cult.
Guess Who - American Woman
Jimi Hendrix - Can You See Me
Howlin' Wolf - Smokestack Lightnin'
Howlin' Wolf - Backdoor Man
Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda Da-Vida
Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown

Yoko Ono's part)

Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
Ohio Players - Fopp
Pearl Jam - Alive
Ramones - I Can't Give You Anything
Rolling Stones - Stray Cat Blues

Hello to all my fellow music fans! I am new on this Digest. As I have been
reading your notes, I am amazed! Where is everyone getting all the demos
from? I can't find anything.Are you mail-ordering them? I envy everyone
that's actually gotten to see SG, I don't think they ever have or will play
in my state! If they are listening...come to SC!! I have many questions for
you.
1. Where can I get a copy of "Kyle Petty", I've never even heard it!?
2. How long has SG been advertising their interest in the satanism?
3. I have done alittle experimenting on the Ultra mega cd! The tracks 665
contains backward messages. Has anyone else heard them? Do any other songs
have these messages?
4. Where can I get tour information, T-shirt info & more??
Thanks everyone & I hope SG jams forever!

It was even worse on the Lowlands Festival.. They just stood there played
some songs and left.. I was very disappointed about that.. The parts of the
Reading Festival on MTV were more interesting.. On the Pukkelpop Festival in
Belgium (which was the day after the Lowlands Festival) they weren't good
either..

That sucks! I'd really like to hear BHS pumpin at 130bpm! Can any of you

Are you a gamer?

Do you know of anyone who seems to have EVERY game that's released?

Well chase them down, grab 'em by their ankles and shake 'em till their
lunch money falls out of thier pocket. After pocketing the money (It's
pizza day and you want doubles), ask them about the video game "Road Rash".
Seems the 'gardeners added music along with 4 other A&M bands to the game's
soundtrack. I know nothing about it.

Anyone?

Lastly, I saw the movie _Say Anything_ last night, directed by Cameron
Crowe. SG's "Flower" and "Toybox" were in the soundtrack. Did the songs
get on the WTG released soundtrack for the movie?

BtW: Kim Thayil added liner notes to the Devo reissue: "Oh, No! It's
Devo". I checked out the devo web site and the spudsters have a pretty
impressive one. So, I'll be including a link from my page...check it out.

remember(yes, I can still remember back that far sometimes ) was the The
Yardbirds back in the 60's when Jeff Beck was still with them. I've heard Led
Zepplin do a cover. I guessJimmy Page learned it during his stint with the
Yardbirds!! C. Burkett is an old blues guy who wrote the song. I have heard
a couple of blues artist cover it also. It's a great song!- T

I just got an idea while I was reading this message. Has anyone ever
tried to play 665 backwards? I have but I couldn't make out much. There
are definitely backwards lyrics on it.

I think the lyrics are as follows:

Hey, Smokestack Lighting,
Hey, Shinin' like gold
(repeat)

Hey, she treats me like a clown,
Hey, wheels come drivin' slow
(repeat)

Hey, tell me baby
When you comin' home?
(repeat)

The original was done by Howlin' Wolf and it's pretty fuckin good.
Incidentally, the original lyrics in the last line are, "Where'd you
sleep last night?"

it's the truth. it's a damn good zine -- and centers largely around
soundgarden, which is why i have no problem encouraging you all to
check it out. note that the website consists entirely of graphics.
it's the only way i could get it to look the way i wanted it to look,
and from working on it i now understand fully why the official sg page
is done the same way. [the site is not finished, but it will be soon]

In reference to your question about Dark Load, I think I can fill you
in a bit from one of the people involved, Jeff Gilbert.

Dark Load was an idea Jeff Gilbert had to form a band. About a year
and a half ago, Rhino Records had a project in mind to have all these
music critics form bands, and then have musicians in the business
review them. Critics from Spin, RS and other mags were submitting
tapes. Jeff has some "famous friends," as he puts it, and they all
contributed to his project. Those friends include Kim Thayil, Bill
Reiflan from Ministry, and Paul Larken from Below Sound and Splinter
Party. It started out as one song called "My Stuff", and it was done
in one night. Jeff is still saying it will be released, and that they
keep coming up with more material, and that it is definitely a "guy's album."

I hope this one gets to the list as apparently I've been

I've got one SG boot on tape. It is of a performance in Berlin
in 1992 and I think it is great. There is a greta version of
Mind Riot (off SG's best albumn as far as I am concerned) on it.
Anyway, 'nuff said.

They can talk about their musical integrity till the cows come home, but
anyone who has listened to the 'Hater' CD knows that Pearl Jam stole
'Spin the Black Circle' from Ben, Matt and the boys. Before its
inglorious demise at the hands of Eddie and the Wailers it was called
'Down Undershoe' track 6 and the Hater CD. Take a listen, it's uncanny.

I had no problems running the Alive CD+ in my machine...I am running P90
w16Megs, Soundblaster 16, SB 4xCD-Rom (ide), Win-95. I inserted the disk and
the autoplay took over. I have loaned the disc to a couple of buddies with
Mac's. One person got video only ( on a two year old Quadra) and the other
guy couldn't get it to work on a machine he bought just before Christmas.

I didn't have to load any of the Corel drivers.

The stuff on the disk is okay...I was expecting a little more...I was real
excited about the live "My Wave" clip that I found until it was rudely
interrupted...

Hello everyone and Good Day. I just went the MTV Alternative Nation
Concert Tour which was held here in Manila just last Saturday, and saw
the Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys. It was a pretty nice
concert no thanks to the Foo Fighters (they sucked and I sure wish Dave
Grohl should just sit down on a drum set, he'd look a lot better).

Well, I wonder when will Soundgarden ever play here? Pearl Jam was here
last year..and oh, please...Can anybody here supply me with any info
about this little detail? I'd appreciate it a lot, thanks.

If ever they do COME (please??) I think I'd shit in my pants...if ever I
hear it announced that they are coming here. (I will, I'm not kidding)
Well, I can dream can't I?
