I just got the Reading '95 bootleg.. it's AWESOME to say the least! It
opens up with "Jerry Garcia's Finger," and some guy is counting along
when Soundgarden does the intro to "Searching With My Good Eye Closed"
which is what they opened with and the guy counting goes "1, 2, 3, 4"
and when they don't come in on 4 he continues "5, 6, 7" ok, well you
have to hear it. Anyway it has that song "Christi" on it, which I think
is amazing, as well as "Ty Cobb" (great chorus.. I'm hardheaded, fuck
you all) and "Waiting For The Sun" (covering the Doors, that's awesome
too) and some Beatles cover where Chris is screaming at the end "YOUR
FOOTBALL TEAM SUCKS!" oh and it has a live version of 4th of July, I
almost shit my pants when I heard it. I just wish it had Fresh Tendrils
live =) Ok, I'm gonna shut up now... until I get my Inflatable Soule
tape and post what I think of that anyhow =)

I think you shouldn't care what the "real" lyrics are. If Chris meant
for the lyrics to be -completely- understood, he would have sang them
more clearly...

I saw them in Cleveland. I can barely remember what they played and in
what order because I had to just concentrate on breathing 'cause it felt
like my ribcage was being crushed when everyone rushed forward when that
movie screen went up...but it was the best concert I've ever been to. It
was the first (and so far, the only) concert I've crowd surfed at.
Actually, the best parts were when they played old songs, like from
Louder than Love. And some rad guy next to me kept yelling-Full on Kev's
Mom! (like they could hear him. They didn't play it).

Ok, ok one more. I know this has gone on long enough...
In "Seasons" after the 2nd verse where the lyrics go to "I want to fly
above the storm...(etc.)
I always thought the part where Cornell sings "the Naked floor is cold as
hell..." was :
"The naked florist combed his hair"
laugh at me now.

Subject: Music in general

This isn't exactly SG related, but when somebody said about Chris Cornell
( i hate calling him by his first name, i don't even know the guy) saying
that thier point was to make "unique music"(something like that), i could
not identify with him more. And it is frustrating as HELL. Unique music
doen't come easy, as far as i know. I don't want my band to sound like
every other schmo out there, yet Green day sounds like shit and they are
millionares. WTF is up with the music business.
Anyway, i don't think my band is that unique in our music yet,
but i know that we will get better with time. Look at SG. Ultramega OK
was basically just another hard rock album in the scheme of things.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Soundgarden fan, but if someone who only
had Superunknown asked me about it, i wouldn't recommend it. It's for
true fans, really. Anyway, back to the point, Louder than Love was a
good album with a couple cool songs (Gun, Hands all Over, just the intro
to Loud Love was cool as hell). Badmotorfinger was a great album that
rocked out and propelled SG into the MTV (yecchhh) Buzz Bin, me thinks.
True Flower was a great song from Ultramega OK and it did get airplay on
MTV, but one good song doesn't make a great album (sorry to disrupt the
continuim). Then came Superunkown, with, IMHO, is one of the best rock
albums to hit the shelves. The next album, who knows?
Some might say SG can only go down, but that's bullshit. Led
Zepplin still made awesome albums after the release of the untitled, and
i have the feeling SG will do the same. The only thing i didn't like
about Superunkown was the masses that hopped on the bandwagon
afterwards. Not the people that bought Superunkown and enjoyed the hell
out of it, then maybe bought some older stuff. No, I mean the idiots who
bought it, listened to Black Hole Sun and Fell On Black Days and left the
album to collect dust. Same thing with NIN and the Downward Spiral. MTV
is corrupting rock n roll. Support your local radio station!

Whaddya know, it did turn out to be a SG related topic after all.

it would be cool if any or all of you would take a look at the image
and article sections of the unofficial sg page and let me know if you
have stuff that's not there.

i know there's a ton of releases out there that i don't have, which is
why they're not in the images archive -- if you have them and would be
willing to scan them, let me know. if you have them and trust me, you
can send them to me and i'll do the scanning and send your stuff back.
i promise. it's really for everyone's benefit to have as many images
as possible, especially of the releases -- if you know what everything
looks like, you might spot something for your collection in a record
shop somewhere that you might otherwise have overlooked. also, any
other cool sg-related items are eagerly accepted. i've been given some
really great promo items lately (added another 8 tonight), and i thank
those of you who have contributed.

as for articles, whether you believe everything you read or not
they're a great source of information, and often of interesting trivia
and quotes and such. so, if you'd be willing to type up whatever you
have and email them to me, that would be great. again, if you'd rather
photocopy them and send them to me, i'll type them up myself.

let me know...

without your participation, the unofficial sg page is nothing, so to
all of you, again, my thanks.

seth

p.s. - kim bayley (the very first person to show interest in the
project) emailed me yesterday and said that the first time i claimed
to her that the page was "complete" was june 12, 1994, after several
months of work. in the 19 months since then, you guys have done a hell
of a job.

well Kelly, I disagree completely

that sounds really "go with the flow"-like, whatever , but as it so happens
Chris sings clear enough most of the time,
and if he writes lyrics, submits them to paper AND sings them,
I think it is because he wants people to LISTEN... "sort of".

I don't partiqularly want to read books through opaque glasses,

nor do I want to hear songs sung through fish,
exept when Mike Patton does on rare occasions...
(FNM consert of all times at the Isle of calves, Oslo, June 95)

by the way , I'm no musician neither
ULTRAMEGAOK nor Louder than Love
were regular heavy recordings.

recommend your contryman R.M.Pirsig's books on the subject of quality.

there IS a REASON why
quality stands out through the rest of the shait produced in this world.

and as it happens it does NOT
purely depend on subjective
evaluation.

Shit, I was there, I remember hearing waiting for the sun (incidentally they
played that and Black Hole Sun straight after while the sun was setting..) But
I don't remember much of the other nerw songs they played.. I never realised
they were actually playing a song before Searching w/ my good eye closed, I
thought it was just feedback. I don't remember half of that stuff.. Maybe I
lost out when I was moshing :( Can you tell me the name of the last song they
played, I just remember that it was instrumental with an arpeggiated variants
of a D chord and LOTS of bass feedback.
